Higher than pet pro plus. And no doubt higher than online. They keep jacking up prices as well. The business strategy is to put up random discounts to distract customers and then jack up prices slowly $1 or $2 every 6 months. read more

I usually get my puppy groomed at kraiser's natural pets but by recommendation of family friend, my mom decided take my puppy here for a summer cut. He came back with a cut on his leg. PetSmart ended up paying for his vet bills on benfield hospital. The vet had to put a tissue glue on his leg and he is on pain medication for 4 days. I am grateful for their service but this is not acceptable. I don't know what they do to him, he started shaking in PetSmart and my puppy never gets scared with my old groomer. I will never take my puppy here again. If this happened to human, the hair stylist would be fired. read more

I go to this Pet Smart for EVERYTHING! (except the vet) and I love the friendly staff and the selection. My puppy MyTy has been getting groomed since she was 8 weeks old and has had wonderful experiences at this location. My favorite part..the training classes! We have taken the puppy class and are now taking the intermediate class and we adore Taylor!!! He is incredible and takes the time to get to know each and every dog. He works with you and your dog 1 on 1 and is always open to answering any questions or helping you solve any problems you are having with your dog. He is flexible and structures the class so that each owner and dog gets exactly what they need. It is obvious he adores animals and is incredible at training them. He is the kind of dog trainer you think would be working privately and not in a Pet Smart pet store. MyTy and I are SO grateful for Taylor!!!!! read more

There seems to be a serious issue with the computer system there on the grooming side. I had my appt confirmed all week via text, phone calls, emails, then was told 3 hours before hand there was an issue and there was no groomer written down for my appt, even tho I was scheduled for a bath & groom. This wasn't noticed either until 3 hours before the appt? The only compensation offered was a $10 coupon...wow. I only had this time frame to get my dog groomed, and I'm disabled, really needing my Westie done for me. I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE MANAGEMENT with how they handled this. read more

This review is for the grooming salon, and expressly for Anna in particular. Our dog was the product of a puppy mill, and his trust in humans is limited to a small circle. Anna was the first person to groom my small bichon puppy. I was living in Evanston at the time, but my boyfriend lived near Vernon Hills, so the appointment at the Vernon Hills PetSmart was a matter of convenience. And though I now live in VH, the location no longer matters. From that first experience to more than five years later, I feel so fortunate that Anna is in our lives. Anna has been unceasingly patient and understanding, and her skills as a groomer are excellent. My MIL jokes that he looks like a "movie star" after his appointment with Anna. Above all, her kindness and thoughtful care with which she treats us and our beloved furry jerk is why we're happy and forever loyal clients. PetSmart would be wise to take care of exceptional people like Anna and the wonderful staff at the Vernon Hills location that make pet AND human lives happier. Our 7 month Dalmatian would always see Tracy at this location. Ever since she moved out of state, I have not liked anyone to work with my dog like she has. I had one groomer drag my dog by the leash for her to get across the door. I got so upset that she dragged my dog (basically choking) that I spoke to the manager and she did absolutely nothing about it. Never going back, pretty upsetting they had the audacity to do that in front of me. I can only imagine what they do to dogs that are a bit more complicated behind close doors. read more

I could imagine a slightly better pet store but I haven't found one in person that meets that dream yet. This is close because almost all employees go gaga over my dog who loves attention. They also have cost effective packages for her bath and I can for in online coupons for $10 off so with the pain of giving her a bath and washing all the towels afterwards etc it's worth it. Being a single dog mom it also gives me some time to do what I want without worrying about her and she thinks she's getting a treat with someone else petting her.... They could carry a wider variety of the organic and local and nicer treats but a chain like this doesn't cater to those needs. That's life. read more

My review is for the grooming department only... I took my dog to get a bath and opted for nail grinding, since his nails were getting caught/unraveling an area rug. It had been less than a week since his appointment and I noticed he was getting caught on the rug again. Upon closer inspection, his problem toenail is the same length! I specifically told the girl which nail needed the grinding, which she obviously ignored. I am livid that they didn't even trim it, let alone grind it down. I paid an extra $11 for nothing. I'm also angry that I have to waste my time and gas to go down there to get my money back. I'll update later... read more

Petsmart has been wonderful to us and our dog. When traveling, we often leave our dog at doggie day care and overnight. The people that work there could not be nicer or more attentive to the dogs needs. "Bart" is always taken care of so well. A big thank-you to Petsmart! read more

I just called to make inquiry as to the Pet Hotel Services. I spoke with a staff member named John. Well John, when I called I did not really want pricing information. Any one who owns a pet know what the average boarding costs will be. So thank you for your brisk break down of fees, but as I stated I was more interested in the amenities for the dogs, as I feel they are members of my family and should be treated as such. I won't be bringing my dogs there, ever. I will take them across the border to Shel-ray Pet Chalet, they were far more in tune with what my dogs needs were than the depth of my pocket book. read more

We go to this PetSmart solely to have our dogs, Carmella and Winston, groomed by Laura. Before we met Laura, we were unhappy with the overall stressful atmosphere at PetSmart's grooming center, so we were thinking we would not return. However, we went back one more time and Laura happened to be our groomer. We have been going to groomers for twenty years, including small independently owned businesses, and Laura is our favorite groomer of all. The dogs seem happy and they always look great. The way she styles them is consistent, and we like that. We love how they look. It is unfortunate that the atmosphere can be too busy and hectic. Laura does an awesome job! read more

When I first adopted my dog, Dennis, I was very much against Petsmart. I only ever saw dirty locations and bad service. To get Dennis set up in our home, I got my beginner needs from PetCo around the corner. When it came time for training, I called up the PetCo and asked for price and dates, they told me price and that they didn't know the dates, and that was that. I called up Petsmart to compare. More expensive by about $10, but they didn't stop at the price! They immediately informed me that if I was interested in signing up over the phone there was a $20 coupon that could be applied to my purchase and then listed the available start dates. I was sold. The Store: I went into the Petsmart early to sign my paperwork for class and Dennis LOVED it. He loved sniffing everything, poking his nose into the toys, and getting loads of attention from the employees. I loved just how well the store was organized, how friendly the employees were, and how knowledgeable the employees were as well. Now, a number of the employees at Petsmart know Dennis by name and give him lots of pets and attention. I refuse to go to PetCo anymore because I can never find what I'm looking for, I've had to wait several minutes for someone to come to a register, and Dennis cowers from the workers. Training: On day one of training, I was hooked on my trainer, Adam. He is extremely out-going and knows his stuff. Dennis learned quickly and responds well to Adam. On walks, Dennis would tug so hard he was wheezing. With Adam's suggestion of a particular type of harness I can now loose leash walk with Dennis with ease. We've even begun work on heeling while walking. I spent weeks trying to figure out how to get Dennis to roll over. Adam showed me a technique and the next day Dennis was rolling over trying to anticipate my next command! Dennis will even go running to his bed when I point and simply state "Dennis, Bed" and he'll wait until I come give him a treat or attention. We've recently signed Dennis up for his third stage of training because of how much we enjoy the classes. The Hotel: After having Dennis for several months, my husband and I came to the conclusion that we hate to crate him. We also realized that Dennis cannot be trusted alone. Recently we've tried the pet hotel's "daycare" option. It was such a relief to enjoy an evening out with my husband without worrying what Dennis was destroying or how sad he was alone in his crate! We knew he was getting plenty of love and attention from his friends at Petsmart. Overall I love this location and will use it until I have to move again. read more

Overnight staff neglected my dog from 9:00 pm by having her lay in her feces for an undetermined amount of time until noticed by staff the next day at approximately 11:00 am. According to my vet, this was the worst diaper rash she had ever seen in her career. My dog was given back to me with a matted rectum and medicine that should not have been prescribed to her. Their excuse was being understaffed with too many dogs. I walked out of there with nothing but regret. Please don't be ignorant as I was. It's best to have someone caring watch your babies at home while away. I wish I had. read more

Do NOT take your pet here for grooming. Absolute worst groomers I've ever seen. Luckily I stayed while they cut my dogs nails he almost choked because they don't pay attention or care. The staff is inexperienced and rude. If you bring it to their attention they are rude and condescending. I would never go back. First red flag, they do not let you past the desk to see their boarding facility. Second red flag, there is not outside area. Dogs are to eliminate in the same place they have daycare-yuck. The four daycare rooms look to be 10'x10'. Third red flag, they have room for 75 dogs. Really?? What type of owners want to drop their dog off in a place that doesn't give them a tour of the whole place, including the actual area the dog will be in? Too secretive for my liking, worth doing a yelp/google check for better places that are more transparent. read more

My dog normally comes here for her grooming needs and sees Heather. She wasn't available when I needed her so I was ok with my dog seeing someone else I explained what I wanted done and that I would pick her up in the afternoon. When I went back to pick up my dog she was basically shaved I informed the salon manger Ashley that she didn't do a good job and paid for my service and left. I contacted corporate about the issue and this they way they handled it was unprofessional and told me my dog was no longer allowed back they refunded me the $50 and that was the way they handle a complaint. My dog weighs 10 pounds and is a shitzu she's the sweetest most loveable dog but Ashley apparently thought she was to mean for her. Ashley is the salon manger and is super unprofessional and rude. she definitely needs an attitude adjustment and a new job since apparently she hates hers. I would see heather even though she's only there on Tuesdays but she takes pride in her work and does an amazing job! I would never give Petsmart another penny. Better to take my dog somewhere where we are both respected. read more

This is only a review on the grooming. And as much as I hate to give only 2 stars, I have to do it on my fur babies behalf. This place isn't bad and the groomers seem nice but my pups (a lab mix and a pointer mix-so larger dogs) used to go here and my big lab tolerated it and my pointer mix actually liked it but after today and then their previous visit, we won't be back. my boys WERE NOT HAPPY!!!! They wanted NOTHING to do w the grooming area, so much so they had to be forced to go thru the swinging door by the groomers. And their faces broke our hearts while watching them get their nails cut and filed. They never had a problem before (they only get nail cuts here). But they were so sad, frightened, nervous and scared!!! They weren't the only ones either! 3 dogs who were either leaving or coming looked just as scared as my boys!! the groomers weren't as caring or as sweet to my boys to help calm them as I think you would b to be working w dogs. they just seemed mediocre about it. My babies love going in stores and have learned quickly that they get cookies but even cookies in the grooming area doesn't make them even want to wait in the waiting area we will b going to a small groomer from now on or in a pinch, krisers. read more

This is the first time I've been to petsmart in Vernon Hills and last. One of the customer service there is very rude. I always love going to petsmart and the people there are always very nice and they great you as you walk in the door. I never have any issue until I went to the one in Vernon Hill . I had to return some items we bought because we found out that we couldn't keep the dog we were getting. She started to slam things around right in front of us and tossing the items behind like we didn't exist. Even the customer service next to her was looking over. I believe customer service should provide good service regardless if the customer is purchasing items or returning them. I did speak with the supervisor. He said he'll take care of it.
