We got our 5 month old puppy groomed here and while it was pricey, we were happy with the service. We booked online, her appointment was at 9 am and she was ready for pickup at noon. We paid $35 for bath, brush, nail trim, and sanitary area cleaning - it's included and she's a golden retriever so she had long tushy fur ;) We added a $15 nail grind because even just shortening her nails, they are still sharp. Because I sometimes work 60+ hours a week, I always schedule my dog's grooming appointment weeks in advance, and on my day off. Today just two hours before my appointment, PetSmart calls to cancel because they are short staffed. After explaining my demanding work schedule, I asked if they would "squeeze" my dog's grooming in on my next day off. They quickly said "no." No effort was made to accommodate me, even after I explained I had been a customer for nearly 13+ years. I have spent thousands of dollars at PetSmart over the years; gladly paid for the grooming that shot up from $40 pre-pandemic, to now $80+. I wasn't quite thrilled with this PetSmart. We came in look for dog tags but couldn't locate them throughout the store and at the counter. We didn't ask for help because we didn't see any employees on the floor and the cash register had a long line. We did look for more dog food (we use Orijen or Acana sometimes) and this PetSmart doesn't carry those brands which was shocking. Grooming Department's customer service is lacking. I had an appointment that was scheduled weeks in advance only to find out when I arrived that they had to cancel my appointment due to the lack of a groomer. I understand being understaffed; however, that's why there is a schedule that someone should review and I should've been notified in advance NOT when I arrive to the establishment. Even though I was offered a discount on my next appointment with them that I won't be using, no one offered to check other locations for availability which was the least they could've done! I have two dogs. My daughter has two. We have four dogs taken to Pet Smart over 20 years for grooming and buying food from Pet Smart in California, Unfortunately I have really bad experience with PetSmart grooming Wake forest NC retail Drive. They did a bad job in my two dogs making hold cutting my dogs part of his body all the hair, ears supposed to be long , know are working there. They are animal lovers , easy way for them 7 pound dog Maltese and poodle. They cut all the hair in the face body shave it make it easy. This is the second time that I have left my dog at the pet hotel and requested that he be groomed during his stay and it hasn't been done. Both times I have been told that it would be done and then told when I picked him up that they didn't have anyone to do it. The manager is useless. He just says that I can report. it to the headquarters in Phoenix and they will put the complaint in his email. He told me that he had been working there for 20 years and that's all they will do. It's no wonder he's been at the same dead end job for 20 years. His other offer was that I could have an appointment in 3 weeks. That's helpful. I laugh when people rate things with low stars when the store is exactly as it should be. PetSmart is a great store. They host numerous pet adoption events and as a pet owner this is very important to me as too many animals have to be put down. So PetSmart letting these groups use their stores free of charge, and to give up square footage for permanent cages for cars to hopefully be adopted shows a commitment to the animal kingdom. I buy cat food and liter and treats for my cats and PetSmart is always clean and well stocked. Am I a low maintenance pet owner, possibly but I find PetSmart meets all my needs and expectations. The people who work here are friendly and they also will open additional registers when the lines get 3-4 people deep. A pure bonus. Rude, unprofessional & slow. Very disappointed in grooming service & customer service. 1 - Grooming. Took Milo in at 1:45. At 3:30, I go back to check on him. Worker: "who's doing Milo?" No one responds. Then she says, "he should be done around 5." Ugh. 2 - I wanted to buy this Peanuts shirt for Milo. Me: can you tell me where this shirt is? I've looked all over." Worker: "well all the clothes are here or on an endcap." ..... Me: "Uh, ok ..." Worker offers no help to go look. 3 - Go to womens restroom. Smells of urine. Two stalls toilets are filled with urine & feces. Explains the smell. Had I not been in a time crunch to get Milo groomed, I would have not taken him here or to another Petsmart. Horrible service! We are visiting from out of state and wanted to buy our granddaughter a goldfish. The lady working the area had green hair and kept avoiding us! We waited patiently eventually they turned off the store lights so we had to ask for help. You could tell she was annoyed and looked at her watch like we were keeping her from something. She rudely asked us tons of questions. She would not sell us a goldfish. Stating we have a 20 gallon tank and 2 goldfish already so the rule is 1 goldfish per 10 gallons. Funny thing is...how many goldfish are in the 1 tank in their store!! They sure don't follow their own rules!!! Again I can't express enough how irritated we felt! Just to buy a goldfish!! read more

Good place to stop for basic pet needs. We can always find our dog's food here and a variety of toys. I wish they would carry more toys for aggressive chewers. Their bully sticks are below the quality of what we can find online and typically only last a few hours. The ones I find online last for days. The clerks are very friendly. Here's why I make the drive out to this Petsmart - they carry "Natural Choice" products. My pug has a sensitive stomach and can't just eat anything. Well, she eats anything in sight but gets sick. Natural Choice is what I prefer to feed my dogs. I have a friend who used to own a boxer that introduced me to this brand. The chicken, rice, and oatmeal version is a safe bet for dogs with sensitive stomachs. This Petsmart carries plenty of special items you just wont find at your local supermarket . They do have a Banfield at this location but I'd rather go to my nearby Vet's office. read more

We have taken our puppy to two different training classes. Both times we have had Ryan. He is very personable and very knowledge about dogs and their behaviors. He was very helpful with helping us come up with solutions for problems we were having. The classes are crafted to teach you to train certain behaviors but you can ask questions about any problems you are having. I have interacted with Cindy also. We did not take her class but we have asked her question while in the store and she was really helpful. The classes we had have been very small. Both of our classes at the most had 4 dogs. Thanks to the classes our dog knows a lot of tricks and also how to heel when on a leash which is nice because he is strong! We have also used the grooming department quite a few times. I really like the staff in there. They remember our puppy and greet him by name. They also give a report on how he does. They are honest too because one day he did not do good and they let us know which I appreciate because we are trying to train him to be calm and behave when we are not there. They also have a scale near the Vet area so you can weigh your dog to make sure you are feeding them enough! read more

My first and only time in this store and I needed help finding a filter that I attempted to find on my own but couldn't. I asked the two guys at the front of the store. One on a register and the other just standing around. No other customers at the front so they were chatty. Instead of helping me, they called someone on their radio to come help. Amazing Customer Service! Today it snowed in NC - a lot! We realized late in the day that we needed dog food for our 3 big guys, it was 3:05 when I phoned to see if the store was still open, they were but only until 4:00. I live about 10 minutes on a good day but 4 inches of snow in a mustang increases the drive time. I hung up the phone, put on my boots and coat and headed out with my husband. We arrived at 3:30 on the nose to signs that said "Closing at 3:30 today due to weather". We knocked on the door and were greeted by Denise (a manager), she apologized for closing earlier than expected knowing she had told me they would be open to 4:00 but with the snow coming down hard, corporate told them to go home and be safe. They had shut down all registers and were heading out the door, but knowing we had driven through the snow to get there, she opened the doors for us, escorted us to get our food and made it possible for my dogs to have full meals tonight. Customer service ROCKS here, other stores likely wouldn't have even answered to the knock or refused to accommodate (which I get, weather is bad), but Denise went out of her way for us today, I am very grateful, and so are my dogs! read more

I took my dog to the groomers here and it was absolutely terrible. Not only did they keep him for FIVE HOURS, they told me it would take four hours and when I went to pick him up he wasn't finished. They had my phone number and could have called me to let me know they were running behind but did not. They gave me five dollars off for my trouble, but after seeing the horrible haircut they had given him it didn't matter. They literally chopped off all his hair other than his ears and tail. He looked like pikachu. I will never take my dog there again. read more

For all of you complaining about the grooming(for example wait times, sometimes possible confusion) it is asked 3 to 4 hours. Your dog is not the only one they have to groom that day, and it gets hectic in there. Oh they shaved your dog? Maybe brush it so it's not matted and they wouldn't have to! BEWARE!! Check the expiration dates on ALL bags of food that you purchase from this store. I have unintentionally purchased an expired bag that was full of maggots 6 months ago. I blamed Purina and got full refund from them. However, I went back two days ago and found the same issue. I always check the expiration date ever since my first incidence. I checked the bags and they all expired in 2018 and one even had a hole in it. For reference, if you were to check the expiration date on a fresh bag that you just bought you would see a date that is greater than 2020. I ended up getting 2 smaller bags for the same price. When I got to the register my mom noticed a bug on my shoulder and it was a MAGGOT!!! The manager admitted that they don't sell enough of the 34lb bag of food to consider reordering more. I called the headquarters and they said that is it company policy to donate bags that are nearing the expiration date to animal shelters. HORRIBLE store! I see pet smart is a great great place for animal adoptions, but their reptiles aren't alway healthy. I purchased my bearded dragon in December of 2016. In Feburary we decided to breed him. I had him tested for any infection etc...we found out he had the adeno virus. This is a deadly virus with horrible symptoms. The company who sells pet smart these reptiles is SUN PET. There is not enough good things I can say about the training services here...ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!! BUT...the grooming at PetSmart???...I quit going because of the manager of grooming about a year ago...Then she left and things seemed much more pleasant there and I brought my dogs back. Well, to my dismay she is back now and once again she can't keep her mouth shut and can't make anything she says sound nice to the customers. Even the staff hated her before and would pass out cards to customers to complain to corporate about how they were treated. Now, don't get me wrong...they have some wonderful groomers there and service is typically pretty good. But do yourself and your animal a favor and do not let sandy work on them or near them. I had asked that she not be allowed near my dogs and sure enough the one i took in last came home with a cut between his nails on his toes...turns out she helped trim them. For those of you who do use her, I have been there to hear her talk sweetly to a customer and then treat their pet like crap. Well, at least you can't say you haven't been warned.
