i dropped off my lab for the first time at this location. i was a little skeptical because of the reviews i've heard from a couple of peers but i took the chance because this place is convenient for me and down the block. he needed a cleaning and we've had many troubles washing him bc he's afraid of water so i told the groomer girl ahead of time of my past issues. she assured me she would take care of him and i shouldn't worry. i came back and my lab was so happy to see me not only did she bathe him she cut his nails and brushed him! i think her name was sharon she was so great! she took care of my lab and said she didn't have trouble with him at all. i am definitely coming back to sharon and she needs to be recognized for her outstanding services. thank you read more

I bought a bag of Purina Pro Plan here on 11/6. When I opened it the next day, the bag was full of webs and maggots all throughout the food. I've never seen anything like it. My boyfriend and I returned the bag that evening, and the employee at the register could not have been less phased. She told us that there is an "infestation" in the store. Another employee walked by and pointed at the return at our feet and said, "Is it the worms again?" The cashier processed our refund and sent us on our merry way. I contacted PetSmart corporate that night and I'm absolutely shocked that no one has followed up to share measures that are being taken to mitigate this issue. After doing my own research, it seems that the store is suffering from an infestation of pantry moths, and continues to sell larva infested bags of food to unknowing customers - anything for a buck, huh, PetSmart? I wrote this review the day after we processed the return, but deleted it to give the store the chance to do the right thing and make contact about the issue. I wanted to give no stars but the review would not post without one. I had a very unsatisfactory experience at Petsmart in West Babylon, NY with my 8 month old rescue puppy. The Trainor, Lucas, was incapable of going off script from Petsmart's manual. Worst of all was Lucas permitted the one other dog in the class and its couple owners to dominate the class about themselves and their dog. I don't know if I'll be shopping at Petsmart anymore. I purchased a brand new bag of natural balance from Petsmart in September of 2024. There were no holes in the bag and when I cut it open it was infested with pantry moths . Maggots all over the inside , webbing and adult moths. I returned it same day and got a full refund. Now Just to a few days ago Feb 6 2025 One of my customer dropped their dog and their food for the duration they would be staying with me. I opened the brand new bag of purina chicken and rice with no holes to see webbing and when I shook it around could see live pantry moths inside. I immediately threw it away in a trash bag and right to my barrel outside. I immediately notified my customer . She just bought it before bringing her dog. I looked up online and apparently this is pretty common buying from Petsmart . It's absolutely disgusting and thank god I noticed before feeding it to any of the dogs. I don't know if it's the supplier or manufacturers but it apparently is happening before packaging since the bags had no holes. They should be talking to headquarters and find out what suppliers this stuff is coming from. If these different brands are manufactured by the same company. Do they even notify anyone. They acted like it was no big deal when I returned the bag and told them it was infested . It's a shame because I work with dogs and I have 2 of my own and have shopped there for over 15 yrs and now thinking I'll be shopping somewhere else. Like Chewy. I'm so done with this place. Last time I took my dog to the groomer they gave me an attitude for coming in after three hours (when I was told it would be two) and told me I was distracting my dog making it hard for them to do her face. Meanwhile the dog never moved. I saw her pull the dogs hair. This time said two and a half hours (because the groomer Taylor) wasn't in yet. Called after 2 hours 45 minutes and was told it would be atleast another 45 minutes. I'm done - on the search for a truly professional dog groomer. Not a bunch of kids with attitudes who can't handle the responsibility My husband decided to give them a second try today. We waited outside for curbside with our 11 year old dog with a heart condition for 10 minutes. I told the girl she had a heart condition and proceeded to tell me they have to cancel the appointment because they could not allow the dog to be around other dogs and they were too busy today to accommodate our dog and even if they were there's an extra charge. Left angry as always and found a reputable groomer to take care of her. Do you research and please don't trust your dog with them. read more

Took my pup there a hand full of times..The second time Steph did a nice job so always asked for her. Each time since (3) Something's always wrong forgot to clip ears, didn't cut her nails,always something. This last time I told them I wanted her glands expressed ears done leave her with a full fluffy head and paid 15 extra to grind her nails. Well first thing I saw was little girl with a flat head like a marine would wear nails were filed but not clipped at all and her ears were hairy and oily clearly overlooked.. and though she said she expressed her glands there the same full and smelly. Online ordering is a joke Holly the store manager needs to learn how to deal with customers bad attitude. Why would you order online then make a customer wait in line just to tell the cashier the same thing you told the manger just so the cashier can call over the Radio to have someone come up and get my order. There is a reason this location only has 3 stars. Brought my dog here for grooming due to her usual groomer at Petco not being available. Figured I would give pet smart a try. The person taking the information by phone was incompetent. Repeatedly got the information given wrong. Of course this led to the information being incorrect when I arrived. Staff was rude and I accommodating. Had difficulty handling my 1yr old 38lb heeler Russell mix. I explained she is anxious after being inside from Covid but petco always made her feel great. When I returned she had not been shampooed, nails not buffed and was still wet. They said she was so nervous they could not perform the services but wanted to charge the full $65 anyway. When I requested a discount I was greeted by further rudeness and they insulted my dog repeatedly. The handler dropped her 2 times in front of my family. Finally I received $16 back only. My dog was not cared for and I was told I should come back in a day when they are not busy. Not only will I never return I will tell anyone that will listen to stay far away!!! read more

I frequently shop at this PetSmart. The employees are always friendly and available to help. This store always has what I need in stock and if they don't have what I'm looking for they look to see if a near by store has it. I'm a bit surprised reading the negative comments about the grooming center. When I brought my rottie puppy in for a first time nail trim the people working in the grooming center were very nice and were very knowledgeable about my breed of puppy. A trainer at Petsmart (as multiple witnesses saw today for ourselves )was aggressively pinning a young puppy to ground as puppy was screaming . This puppy was screaming so loud many customers started to gather and were begging him to stop as we thought he might truly injure this dog . He was using a method people were saying is called "Alpha Roll" which after researching is known as an outdated and looked down upon technique. Opinion - aggressive treatment can cause aggressive behavior. Reputable trainers use POSITIVE reinforcement techniques . I went in to pet smart today to help out new born kittens and their mother. i'm not well educated on a mother cat and kittens lifestyle and thank god i found Karen. She was extremely helpful with helping me get the proper food and diet for them. Karen was nice enough to use the adoption money to help us save the kittens! I cant thank her enough for what she did today she truly is an amazing woman and i'm so grateful for her generosity. I get my cat things from here. From what I've been told Pet Smart is cheaper then the other stores. The store is kept clean even though I'm sure dogs that are bought in by their owners might leak in the store occasionally. They have some animals to buy and some to adopt and they have a nice selection of most supplies you might need for your pet. They are also within walking distance to me which is a plus because I'm not driving right now and don't have a car either. read more

When I picked up my dog I asked the groomer why his butt was still dirty. She told me his white fur was "stained" from his poop. When I brought him home I took a wipey and cleaned it right up. My favorite Petsmart for grooming needs, the groomers are always kind and remember my dog when we come in. Very clean compared to other stores in our area, and very well staffed. Entered the store shortly after 9 when they opened. I entered the store to make purchases of a 10-gallon fish tank, accessories, and small bottom-feeding schooling fish. I had intended on creating a more diverse but simple environment for many fish, including my betta, to prosper. In the fish section, I was approached shortly after by an associate who told me they would be with me shortly. I had almost made up my mind, as I have relative experience with fish and have researched in depth about this specific type of setup. After giving a brief description to associate, she was quick to deny the sale of fish because of the native aggressiveness of the betta, even though she has not the near knowledge as I do. She insisted that no fish should be added to the tank with the betta, and said she would make the sale to a child but would not cut corners with us. She refused a sale because the schooling fish is a life itself and she would not see it be killed by the betta, even though with a few dozen of these bottom feeding schooling fish, the betta would not be able to successfully eat all of the smaller fish. I am upset with the misinformation that this associate insisted she knew about the better for the betta, but with so much action the fish would be invigorated and engaged, not being able to hunt any specific fish it would chase endlessly. In the end, the associate saying "it's about a life" when rejecting me, although polite, was unwarranted and unsolicited. I understand she is the employee, have formidable training but she was not more informed than I on this matter and made a personal decision to not make a sale. Upset, will most likely use PetSmart Services but will not use the main store for my pet needs read more

Took my dog here to be groomed. Bath, hair cut, and nail cut/grinding. The girl who took care of him really checked him out before letting me leave. I'm assuming to make sure he didn't have flea bites and things of that nature which I thought was awesome. I've never seen that done before and actually felt better about leaving him there. Hopefully that's done to all dogs they groom. He was done in about 2 hours and looked and smelled great, like marshmallows! Unfortunately I told them the wrong buzz cut size and was expecting him to have less hair then when we got him but that was my mistake. I didn't see a sample chart and should've asked for one. I could also tell how well he was taken care of by the way the girl talked about him. $66 plus tax for all that. I usually pay $55 but she said the prices went up. I always had problems with grooming places so recently I started to read reviews before going to a salon and I came upon a review about "Sharon" who's name is really Shannon. I decided to give her a try because what else can I lose. I went on a weekend and it was really busy. I had my doubts until she actually took the time to greet my dog and talk to me about the services I was getting with it being so hectic there. I finally felt appreciated.But let me tell you this is the best customer service I ever experienced. She made me feel so comfortable leaving my dog with her and told me exactly what she was doing to my pup. He smelt and looked so great. The best I've ever seen him look. I love this PetSmart location. Every time I have gone in, I always leave with more than I expect to LOL! The employees are always so helpful, and so knowledgeable. The store is always clean and pretty organized. I love that they willingly offer the fact that they do price match with Petsmart.com, so oftentimes I have several browser windows open with items to price match. I feel like it must be a great place to work because everyone gets along, and have great attitudes. I am so indecisive when it comes to just about every damn thing so it's really great to have people be patient and offer lots of options and help me decide what's best for me. Last night, Maurice was so helpful in helping me choose the right fluffy bed for my fur baby boy's crate. I was in there (literally) for an hour going over the dimensions and what's fluffiest, colors, textures and he was right there entertaining my craziness. I'm actually about to get myself dressed to go back right now - just because. There are a few locations by me, but this one is my favorite - by far. I was hired here as a dog bather. A couple years ago I had worked here and apparently there was an issue with my employee account or something (I was never fully informed) and after about 4 weeks of back and forth with the woman who hired me, I stopped trying. Every time I would call, I would be promised a phone call back in a certain amount of days which never happened unless I called her. The last time we spoke, I was told "I promise I'll call you back in 2 days, I promise." Well it's been 2 months lol I never heard anything back. Not happy at all.. I take my puppy mind you he was 9 weeks at the time, into petsmart, put him in a cart with no leash. I was told I can not have him in the store because he was a pit bull.. like I said mind you he was 9 weeks old in a cart.. he was wagging his tale with not a mean bone in the poor babies body and we were told he can't come in the store nor attend any kind of classes/ day camps because of his breed.. but yet you want us to buy stuff from your store after that? I always bring my dog here for grooming usually see Kim never a problem Kim is excellent. always a good experience but unfortunately Kim is all booked up so we seen Taylor and we always get a little trim get him tighten up especially around the eyes and the legs we let her know this but she decides to buzz him. we pay extra for the chef package Taylor complained that he was all noted will spend time take knots out for them we know time is money we want him not buzzed he was not that badly knotted at all but we paid the extra money is not an issue and she buzzes him anyway bottom line if u want ur dog tried and not just buzzed then do not see Taylor because she will take the easy way out and just buzz the dog i personally give Kim a 5 but this review is about todays experience with Taylor i will never use her again read more

Our 5 month old Hava-Tzu was in desperate need of a grooming, and after checking out some reviews, we decided to give our local PetSmart a try. Being her first grooming, we were of course a bit apprehensive, but we could not have been more pleased with our experience. We called to make an appointment, and they recommended a puppy cut for now, due to her age, which seemed like a good idea. Arriving at our store for our 12:00 appointment we waited to go into the grooming department and chatted with another customer, who had nothing but glowing reports of their services, which was very good to hear. There was a slight mixup, as our groomer, Griffin, was tending to another dog and thought that we were scheduled for 1:00. He very apologetically asked if we could come back in about 45 minutes, so we browsed around the store, made a few purchases and went back at our new scheduled time. Apologizing again, Griffin explained what he was going to do and began to interact with our puppy. His love for animals was quite apparent, and she very willingly went into his arms as he gave her a lot of attention and brought her to the grooming table. We returned an hour later to our freshly cleaned and groomed puppy. He explained that after trimming her nails and then beginning to cut her hair she began to get a little upset, so he put everything down and just played with her and let her chill for 10 minutes or so. From that point on he said she was a perfectly well behaved little doggy. She looked so much better, and did not seem upset at all from her first experience. We will be returning in about a month for a more complete grooming, and of course, we will be asking for Griffin read more

I brought my dog in for grooming. This is the first time we have gone to Petsmart. He is partially blind. Jay the groomer listened to my concerns and needs. How this place is even in business is beyond me! About a month ago, I purchased beyond dog food from this location. Once I got nearly to the end of the bag I noticed worms, moths, and webbing! I looked on the side of the bag and noticed the bag had an expiration date of October 2017, a three month expired bag! I brought the bag in to show the manager and when we asked to file a complaint she was rude and couldn't provide me with a confirmation of proof. The staff is always super friendly here and very knowledgeable. I have been taking my pup here since we first got her! Nicole (one of the trainers) was one of the first people to meet our pup and has always been so helpful to us! She's always willing to stop, listen and answer any questions/problems we may have. Don't know where we'd be without her! We did not go through PetSmart training though so can't speak for the actual training classes but our pup does participate in the Puppy Play Time. This is such a great service for puppies to get them social and teach them how to play with other pups. It's like a mini dog park that's monitored by a professional so there's never any worry. It was definitely a great tool for us and helped us as well as our pup grow learn alot about canine behavior. The store itself is always very clean and the prices aren't too bad. I do try to support local when I can but they usually do have what I need in a pinch. Only complaint being that they need to re-stock their Simply Nourish Cans more often. Since they're PetSmart exclusive (and the only petsmart in close vicinity to where I am) there have been some close calls when my pup has almost run out of food because of the empty shelves. If you love your pet , stay away from Petsmart , months ago my pup almost need surgery after they tied his paws with a rope to trim his nails , his vet said that fortunately they gave up because if they kept trying, my dog was going to pull a muscle and would need surgery to reattach it , when I went back to the store to find out what had happened, why my dog had been sedated as he was very sleepy when I picked him up and why he got marks consisting with a rope around his front legs and why he had been limping bad for days , they denied using ropes to hold the pets in place , but another customer that had overheard my complaints , interrupted the manager claiming that she had seen pets being tied the front legs together , then the store manager said he was going to investigate and get back to me , never happened , he only offered me to get a toy for free , that of course I refused ...at least 5 dogs died recently in Petsmart grooming salon , yours could be next , it's not only in NJ , my pet was hurt in West Babylon , NY , still he has the marks of the rope. read more

I made an appointment do bring my dogs to get groomed on Saturday. I came home from school and had all their paperwork faxed over two days before. Showed up to the appointment and they couldn't find the faxes. One of the workers said they saw the paperwork last night and then someone said they threw it out. Don't know how you throw out paperwork. They wouldn't take my dogs and told me to come back. I'm never going back, very unorganized place and two of the workers were not friendly at all after they had us wait for fifteen minutes and never once apologized.
