We have tried multiple groomers in Louisville and Middletown but the only ones that can handle our Shorkie are the groomers at PetSuites in Middletown, KY. They charge $63 for a bath and groom which seems to be the going rate these days. I usually get an appointment within the week that I call. The most important part is that they seem to have a good rapport with our pet and do a good job with him. I usually drop him off at 9AM and he is done around 1PM. They are, however, a bit difficult to get to considering the traffic on English Station Rd and Old Henry Rd. From Middletown, I find it best to take the back roads from Evergreen Rd to Old Henry and then English Station. Avoid the interstate at all costs due to construction. read more

Our cat stayed at Pet Suites for nearly two weeks while we were in Europe, and I scheduled to have 6 total "Pawgress Reports" to be sent to me, which was part of the Gold Package and included two playtimes/per day along with a Pawgress Report on her behavior that day. I had to call 4 times to remind the staff to send me my Pawgress Reports, which all of them were sent to me 24 hours+ after they were initially due to me (and only after I had called to remind them + complain). I only got one report on time, and that was after the 3rd time I called to complain about not receiving the service that I expected to (and was paying for!). Since I didn't receive most of my reports on my cat (or at a timely manner, at that), I can't fully trust if she was given her playtimes or given the appropriate amount of attention that she should have received on the Gold Package for the days she was assigned to have playtimes. When we came to pick her up, all of her belongings (including her blanket and toys from home) were not in her kennel, but rather folded away in a cubby (I believe it was because we were coming to pick her up that day, but to me, it seemed like she was uncomfortable upon her last day at the boarder). I was hopeful for a great experience, but as far as my "owner perspective" goes, I don't have much trust to continue boarding our cat at PetSuites for future stays. read more

We boarded our sweet dog for 9 days total and only received his Pawgress report with a picture on the very first day. Every single day afterwards we had to reach out and specifically ask for an update on our dog, rather than receive his "complimentary" update that was scheduled for 12:00. On several of the days for his Pawgress reports, we actually received photos of another dog with his update rather than our own dog. This obviously caused us major anxiety because of the mix up. Between my husband and I, we had to reach out 8 different times while we were on our family vacation due to miscommunication and mistakes. When his grooming appointment finally came, the groomer reached out to me and asked for instructions. We wanted him to get a full body trim, since it's extremely hot outside and that's what his other groomers do for the summertime, but when we asked for that service we were told, "He's not super long and we normally don't trim the body hairs, just the butt, feet, and chest". I told them that was fine, but when his service charge appeared on the bill it cost $76 for a bath and barely a trim, which to me seemed like a lot... The only bright side was the trainer Theo (my dog) had for his enrichment sessions. His name was Russell and he is fantastic! He sent us many pictures and very thorough updates on how Theo was doing, and if it weren't for him, I honestly probably would've driven the 10 hour drive home from Alabama to pick Theo up early. I dislike having to go back and give a negative review but...a lost collar with an ID tag, along with a "canceled" appointment when we arrived. Thankfully they could still accommodate us but at this point it's all very unorganized. "Oh, someone canceled your appointment" was exactly what she said. We had to day board our pup again for about 7 hours (not fixed yet) and he clearly wasn't let out to go to the bathroom enough. He's a puppy, shouldn't have to explain that to the employees. First things first: this facility is very clean. The staff is fairly well organized and pleasant, and I've never worried about my animals when they were there. That said, you should be very careful and aware of billing practices, and they have lost my business as a result of them. We had an issue a couple of years ago when they raised the rates without notice (posted or verbal) after we'd had dogs there over many years. After a long discussion, the manager refunded some of the fees because they weren't made clear. Now, they've taken to hiding fees. There are posted and explained fees at drop off (not during booking, mind you): $5/day peak fee, $12 "extended stay" if you pick up after 10am. Those are frustrating, since they weren't publicized during booking, but tolerable since they're posted. But, they also charged a $12/day playtime that I was clearly told was included with the room, but ended up just being a mandatory extra service. This is more like a resort fee at a hotel than an included service. If something is "included", it means it's part is the room. If you're just charging extra for it as part of mandatory services, that should be made very clear up front. Otherwise, it's deceptive and misleading. I don't deal with dishonesty and won't pay for it. The condition of the facility is all that stopped this from being a 1-star review read more

I really wish this wasn't my update, but this facility really went down hill. First off, they don't answer their phone or return phone calls. I'm talking days. I should have known then. When I went in person it was blamed on phone issues. Not really buying that, I think they're so short staffed they don't answer at times. I dropped off a physical copy for them to keep of our vet records 3 days prior to boarding. It was looked over, they confirmed all good and I left. Day of check in they say no records. Ok, things happen, I email it to them directly. They did not confirm or anything that they received it. Two days into boarding my dogs apparently got into a fight. It's never happened at home, but high stress, one of my dogs is older, it could happen. No one told me. I tried to call and check on them inbetween, no one would answer. A manager called me two days later because the bite had gotten infected and they couldn't find vet information. Same vet on my vaccine records that we'd now given them twice. I had to coordinate someone to take him to see the vet and $225 later here we are. I don't blame them for the fight, but their communication with me was really bad. They didn't charge me for putting them in a different room. I don't expect them to comp me my room, but I won't be returning. This site is incredibly mismanaged. We sent both treats and toys with our dogs, they were returned unopened. We did this to keep them stimulated and be less likely to tear up their memory foam bed. Last two grooming experiences...Grooming services have gone down hill. I requested a specific groomer. Both times I went to drop my pet off and they had me with another groomer. Both cuts were horrible. First one he was completely uneven, chopped the tail fur and I don't think they cut his feet. Second cut I told them how I wanted the tail. Picked him up and his tail looks like a rat's tail and his privates and butt are both razor burned. Three days later and he still can hardly walk. Would not recommend read more

We had a grooming appointment for our two dogs for over a week; two days before we received a call needing us to bring proof of our dogs vacations, the night before they called to say they could not accommodate us. We tired to reschedule, but there next available opening was 12 days away (?). We needed our dogs groomed when we made the appointment, tired to work with them getting an appointment sooner, but the best was a week (7 days) from the cancelation. In the case of emergency, I completely understand, but this has been becoming more and more frequent. Our Dobermans enjoyed their stay here in April '17. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would gladly use their services again down the road and recommend them to all pet parents. I wish they had more of the largest rooms (penthouse) available though as our 2 Dobies prefer to stay together and literally sleep on top of each other. We were unable to board them here recently due to the 4 penthouse rooms being booked for 4 of the 10 days we needed. Bottom line, I feel they provided great service to our dogs at a fair price. I gave one star as you cant give zero stars, had there been an option to leave no stars that is what I would have chosen for this location. I was not only overcharged for my dogs stay, my dogs were not cared for properly. I had two dogs that I boarded in a townhome. One of them has high anxiety. There was no one trained to get her 12 pound self out from under the bed. She sat in her own urine and fecal matter for 3 days. She was sent home in this way. Not only was she not cared for but when we picked her up they were unaware there were two dogs in the suite. I called to check on them twice on the second day and no one ever returned my calls. I tried to call to correct the situation and the general manager Greg was not helpful, he just stated he was not there over the weekend. I hate to leave a bad review but i will not be taking my dogs back here. I had them boarded for 7 days while on vacation and when i picked them up they both smelled like straight pee and so did their blankets. Their collars were switched as well which was odd to me. While i was gone i did receive pictures almost every day which was nice. They mentioned to me that they were very understaffed and busy and that was the reason i did not recieve one everyday. Some pictures i did receive it looked like in their room the blankets were missing and no bed. I also was told that they had not been eating their dry food, only their chicken which i add on top. That was odd to me because they always eat their dry food. I sent with them their treat jar which was full when i dropped them off, when i got it back it was nearly empty. So pretty much they were fed only chicken and treats the whole 7 days, which made them have diarrhea for nearly a week after. I was taken back by the price i paid for a not so good experience and the "gold" package which did nothing extra for them in my opinion. read more

I wanted to do an appreciation post for PetSuites because they really took good care of my dogs. When I dropped them off for the first time, I was really nervous because I had never boarded my dogs anywhere. However, one of the workers was really sweet and immediately made me more comfortable because she spent the time to let the dogs warm up to her, and I was shocked when they were easily led back. The check-in was super smooth and easy. When I came to pick them up the same girl, Kaitlyn, remembered me and my dogs names making everything feel personal and I could tell my dogs were well cared for. When she brought them to me, they were happy and all the bedding was cleaned for me! I just want to thank the sweet girl at the front desk and all those in the back who took care of my pups! I one-hundred percent recommend PetSuites to anybody who is looking for a boarding facility for their dogs. read more

I have taken my dog there several times for grooming. Never had anyone ask if she has an influenza shot. If you check the record she's never had it. Every time I call for appt it seams like to many excuses regarding her shots. If it's that important how comes your website doesn't have a list of all vaccinations needed! read more

We ONLY take our two dogs - a Pomeranian and a Chow Chow, to Pet Suites. They always leave SO happy, and we know that they are very well taken care of. The participate in doggy play times with dogs of their respective sizes, as well as multiple walks each day. They also play with the staff with games such as Tug-o-War, etc. They also have pet grooming, which both of our dogs participate in as well. They ask for your pets' medical records, and can feed them the food they are used to, and the amount at your request. Our dogs are also allowed to share one room, which cuts down on the cost significantly. One of our dogs only costs 50% for every single play time, etc., because they are in there together. They also have a kitty area, filled with fish tanks and windows so that they kitties can be occupied watching fish or birds. If we lived closer, we may also try the day care. This place is just the best. I am never worried while traveling, as I know that they are taken care of as they are apart of their family. They always have a vet on call and will call you with updates, and encourage you to call to check in as you like. read more

My dogger LOVES this place. Prices are higher than other places we have used, but you get what you pay for! We pay under 5 bucks for play time, which gets you two hours of fun! When it's warm they put out baby pools and hoses. I wish they had cameras, I would love to see that! Food and treats are included in the base pay. The kennels are BIG! They welcome tours if you are interested. No other boarding place we've used has offered us that! My pup always runs up to the door when we arrive. They have early drop off hours and late pick up, 7 days a week. Which is great for our family when we have a long weekend or a short trip for a wedding! Unfortunately I had a toy not make it back one day. They offered to reimburse me for the cost. Not all places would do this, great customer service. Been taking my pups here for grooming for 2 years and it's continued to go downhill. Yesterday was the final straw. They no longer tell you when they are done being groomed so good luck getting in touch with them via phone to find out. We dropped them off at 8:30am, and by 3pm we had to once again call them to see if our dogs were ready. When they came out I noticed they didn't have grooming bandannas on but I thought "oh they must've ran out no big deal". Paid $167 with tip and left. They immediately pulled me over to the potty area like they had been holding it all day and were dying. Again, just thought they must've had to go more than normal. When I got them into the car I then noticed their noses were filthy. Then I started inspecting their feet and their paws were dirty and nails hadn't been trimmed. Their ears were still dirty, and they smelled like they hadn't even been bathed! This is when I realized they never got groomed at all. Took them back inside, and was refunded (thankfully) but the manager and groomer had already left for the day. When I got home with my dirty dogs that sat in a kennel for 7 hours forgotten about, they drank their entire water bowl!! This place forgot about my dogs, never groomed them, and fairly certain forgot about them in a kennel for 7 hours with no bathroom break or water. We will not be returning. Just terrible!! read more

I took my dog in to get groomed at 8:30am (they ask that they be there before 9am). I called at noon asking about my dog's progress and they told me he had been washed and was up next for the grooming table, he "should be ready by 2:30", they said. I went there at 2:30pm still with no phone call. I call back and they tell me that an hour ago they accidentally cut his tail with their sheers and he has been bleeding and they can't get it to stop. When I went in to take him home he had green tape wrapped around his tail. And they told me not to take it off for the night. The tape came undone when I was picking him up so they had to take him back to retape. Here's the kicker, they only gave me 50% off. I paid to have them butcher my dog's tail. Obviously not trusting what they had done to my dog, I took him to the emergency vet. Had they told me when this happened at 1:30pm, I would have been able to take him to our doctor, but they closed at 2:00pm. The ER vet didn't make me pay the $90 charge because of what Pet Suites did to my dog. They unwrapped it and there was about an inch of his tail covered in blood. The vet told me they shouldn't have covered it up and they didn't know what Pet Suites put on my dog to stop the bleeding. I would never recommend grooming here. I should have been called right when they cut my dog's tail. How can I trust them to call me when I board him and I'm out of town if they try to cover something like this up? This location is an absolute joke and I don't even know how the "manager" (Kyle) is considered a manager - he is the most unprofessional, rude "manager" I have ever dealt with. I have had multiple issues with this location, but tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. The first time I attempted to get my dog groomed, they rescheduled the appointment multiple times saying they were short staffed. This second go round, I made an appointment online. The next day I get a text saying the date I chose wasn't available and to call and make appointment, so that is what I did. Fast forward to grooming day, we take him to his appointment and are told he is only scheduled for a bath and "too bad too sad" there's nothing they can do to get him groomed as they are completely booked. I received a confirmation/reminder email 3 days prior of his appointment for a groom. My dog is big and has a lot of hair so they block "2 appointment slots" for him. That is exactly what the confirmation email said. If it were just for a bath, why would he have 2 appointments blocked off for him? Showed the email to the manager, he said that it didn't necessarily mean it was for a groom. I explained that his employee made the appointment and was given had specific requests from me as to where my dog needed the most attention (nails, ears etc.). He said there was nothing he could do since he couldn't bump anyone off the schedule. I told him we were bumped off of the schedule and asked if he could please squeeze him in. He said and no and the next available appointment was over a week out. No apology, no empathy, no attempt to make anything right, just a nasty attitude. So sorry I used this facility in Middletown. Dropped my dog off for two nights. When I asked if I could see where she would be kept I was told no. Normally I would walk out with my dog but I was leaving town for my sons wedding and could not reschedule or miss. I assured myself it would be okay. My husband and I took advantage of the text opportunity to get photos sent of our dog. When the facility photos were sent to us it was clear my dog was distressed and also on another dogs bedding. When I picked my dog up she smelled horrible, like urine, and was exhausted. When I examined the medications we dropped for her while we were gone, it was clear too much of the medication was gone. I recently brought my puppy in for grooming and while he looks good, he came home severely dehydrated and peed for what seemed like a solid minute after I let him outside once i got home. My mother is a veterinarian and she is convinced he went the whole day without water or going to the bathroom. Since most groomers use heated blowers we are lucky he didn't suffer from heat stroke. It may not seem like a very big deal, but he was extremely thirsty and exhausted, he went to sleep as soon as he'd drank some water and went pee, which is extremely unusual for my very energetic puppy. read more

I've read things about hippy beards and bad attitudes. Very surprising to say the least, considering all I can say is every employee there treats my two dogs like family. I've never once had an issue. They are always quick to let us know when we need to update our vacs, and couldn't be nicer to us when dropping off or picking up. They are also very accommodating to our hectic schedule. Are they the cheapest in town? Nope. But I don't drop a Kia off looking for Mercedes treatment either. Discrimination can apparently be applied to pets here without question. If you don't have a pure breed, be careful with this place. I am owned by Bo, a plott hound boxer mix who is the sweetest dog. For check-in, I brought his folder of records dating back to his adoption from the shelter to prove vaccination history. All records either list him as a hound or boxer mix (humane society's and two vet's best guess). I asked to add the group play bonus to his boarding since he is rather high energy and loves other dogs (if you say the words "dog park", he whines until he is in the car and on the way there). They took a 2 second look at him and told me my pitbull cannot play with other dogs.... Totally disregarded all records I brought with me and was adamant about their decision. I've NEVER had a company treat us like that. They just kept saying company policy doesn't allow it. If he was a pitbull, I would understand the whole "policy" issue. But he's not a pitbull. They wouldn't change their minds, though, so I decided to take him home. The only plus from the whole experience was that I got a full refund of my deposit. ALSO, the pictures on the website are for the higher priced kennels. If you don't pay for the upgrade, it's a kennel very similar to the one I saved my dog from in the shelter. read more

2 years ago we boarded our senior dog at pet suites. Two days in she was not eating and showing signs of digestive problems. I was called immediately and my vet was contacted. It was a Saturday and the clinic was already closed. The Pet Suites employee took her to Blue Pearl and waited for her to be examined (this employee should have been off work by this time). Our girl had a history of digestive problems and I appreciated the quick action taken. She was able to return to the kennel after 2 days and was in good shape when we returned.
