I chose this place for the positive reviews and ease of access from the East Bay. I specifically told them that the tire had a slow leak. It holds air for a while and then goes flat overnight. I had to kill 2.5 hours rather that drive back home. When I arrived to pick it up they said "good news!. The mechanic said there's nothing wrong with the tire. It holds air." OMG! WRONG!! I had to wait another half hour for them to do what I had initially asked. First thing that really pissed me off is that in the 2.5 hours I waited the mechanic didn't even take the time to inspect the tire. He thought he was smarter than the customer. It had a hole in it. The owner showed me the hole in the tire as I was leaving. Second idiotic move: When the mechanic replaced the tire he totally gouged the shit out of the wheel trying to pry it off. Before taking it here I went on YouTube to see if I could change it myself and the video clearly demonstrates simple steps that could be taken to avoid trashing the wheel with tool marks. They charged me for 2 hours labor, $120, that took them 30 minutes. I didn't notice the damage to the wheel until it was too late but the mechanic knew what he did and thought it was acceptable to say nothing. Fuck these clowns. read more

Came in for a rear flat repair on my e-scooter and supplied them with my own tire/tube. My e-scooter is my one of my two methods of transportation getting around SF city limits and the labor cost and turnaround time was very reasonable and completed in the same day just under two hours. I would definitely recommend them for a same day flat repair if you are unable to repair it on your own. read more

Beware of the cheap tire that PEV supplies. Service is excellent excellent but what good is service if the part is horrible. I had my electric unicycle for years without problems and finally I needed a tire change. The original Innova tire served me well. The new A.W.T.I. brand tire that PEV supplied didn't even last 6 months. During this period, it had 2 leaks which I repaired and 2 times the air all escaped suddenly from the side wall bead which is dangerous. To sum up, I spent $350 on a tire change which cost half of my unicycle. I highly recommend you start by bring your OEM tire and not use their cheap tire. Thank you. read more

A little bit of a trek from me in Marin, I took a chance that this place would be able to help (based on previous reviews). Rear tire on my son's scooter went flat. And after attempting a to DIY (with help from YouTube), decided I needed professional help. The company who manufactured the scooter offered none. Other bike/scooter shops in Marin were no help, either. But PEV? Amazing. I half expected them to say they could do it, but that it would take a few days. Instead, I walked in, they said "yep. We can fix that. Give us 20 mins." After initial approach didn't work, they still solved. Gave me guidance on how to address it when it happened again. And sent me on my way with a repaired tire about 30 mins after I walked in. Couldn't be happier. read more

I brought my electric scooter to this shop a while ago to replace a tube for a flat tire. The scooter was 2 weeks old and I knew that everything else worked fine. They told me that they have to do a diagnostics for $150. before even taking it in. Kind of alarming but I agreed since was sure that the only tire repair needed. They call me in 30 minutes with the news that I need to replace a whole motor (the most expensive part, of course) for another $250. plus labor which would make this scooter repair cost of at least $500. which is about the cost of a new scooter. Also was told that I have to take it out asap, if decide not to repair it. I refused the repairs, lost $150. for a false diagnostics and replaced the rear tire with my neighbor who had all required tools. The motor worked perfectly fine which means that they didn't even look at your scooter and scam you for additional unnecessary repairs. Hate to do this review to the local business and would be okay to take it off if the owner would refund me $150. paid for nothing. At this point I would recommend to anyone to stay away from this place. read more

Let me say at the outset, this business has thus far treated me better than one of its local competitors, called "fluidfree ride"-- that place was a 0/5. The majority of the times I've stopped in this PEV store, for service, purchase, or information, someone has responded almost immediately, yet the quality of interaction and information given warrants a more nuanced review. Some of the sales reps are misinformed on the products they sell. For example, one sales guy in there talked very confidently while assuring me the VSETT 10+ scooter was faster than the INMOTION RS scooter. If you've done any basic homework, you'd know this is an absurd remark. Take some time to learn about the products you sell. You literally have one job, man. Maybe my expectations are too high. Scooters aren't as expensive as buying a new car. Maybe I shouldn't expect the people who work at a scooter business to ensure the vehicles they allow people to test-ride have all of their working parts secure before customers try them. After all, it's just an electric vehicle, right? Nobody takes a middle-aged man on a scooter that seriously. My first time testing one of the electric bikes (a small girly purple 25mph petal-less bike/cyle-thing) the front wheel was not even securely connected to the bike's frame. Had I actually taken this bike on the road and hit a bump, I could have been seriously injured. I only noticed it wasn't secure because the wheel did fall off when I picked-up the front end of the bike by its handlebars in curiosity as to how heavy it was. Oopsie Daisy, right? I walked the thing (and its now detached wheel) back into the store and the owner apologized while securing a vital bolt and then sending me back out on my way. I can forgive this. It was an honest mistake. I'm a reasonable customer. I ended up buying the VSETT 10+ for about $2,000 after taxes and warranty, plus a few hundred bucks more for a faster charger, and a bike lock. Overall, I've been happy with this purchase and have put over 1300 miles on this scooter since January 2024. I'm obsessed with riding a scooter around the bay area. It really is a joy. Back to the review: I like visiting this store and I think they mean well, even where they fall short on professionalism at times. On numerous visits, I've been browsing the showroom or waiting for a repair and have easily overheard technicians cursing and making childish remarks while tinkering with their customers' vehicles. Again, not a huge deal... but if you're looking to be a family-friendly business -- there's room for improvement. I would give this business 3.5 stars out of 5. They are lenient with test rides, and allowed me plenty of time to decide if I liked the item I was preparing to buy. Most of the employees are personable, while a couple of them seem to have an ego in need of adjustment. A couple weeks ago, I bought an INMOTION RS here. I then asked to return it within 48 hours (25 miles on odometer) of the purchase, for personal financial reasons. The owner allowed me to return it, but I lost about $600 for doing this after waiting nearly a week for the funds to return to my bank account. My feelings about that whole experience are mixed. The INMOTION RS they sold me had sat around in the store and developed flat spots in the tires. They sold me the scooter this way. The very next day after buying it, I had to return it for repair because it wasn't good-to-go in the first place. One of the sales guys gave me a long-winded excuse, hoping I'd just stop bothering them and wait to see if the problem self-corrected in time. I pushed back. This wasant a realistic expectation or action on his part. If you sell a product, it should work the right way, right away. If it doesn't, you make it right. It seemed to me that the staff were a bit overwhelmed by the amount of repairs and scheduled service they already had waiting on them in the shop and this joker was looking for an easy escape. Nope. Not today, junior. I worked hard for the money I spent here. I sound cranky. I'm not. I'm judgmental. This is an app where customers judge the businesses they frequent. Will I return to PEV Works? Yeah. I'll have a flat front tire sooner or later. Let's see if YELPING does any good. read more

Ultra Five Star service and quality! I came in to get my electric unicycle repaired and they immediately helped me out when they didn't have to; they genuinely wanted to help my situation. I had asked to film the process of having a tire changed because there are no online guides for how to do this with my particular model online, and no videos either. No info in the manual, you're just on your own. I had attempted to just brute-force figure it out and completely disassembled my wheel but got stuck at the very last step with a seemingly immoveable, important looking cable which was preventing the removal of the inner tube. While they didn't allow me to film, they did let me come back and observe the process once they got to that cursed cable (and I learned the final step, along with some helpful tips!). We chatted for a while as he was doing further repairs, and we occasionally chatted with some other employees. They were all really nice and helpful and seemingly wanting to impart the knowledge they possess, which is extensive! I came in for an innertube change, but since the wheel was open, they also fixed the minor problems as well (speakers had come loose, carry handle killswitch replacement, slight left lean caused by a tube liner a bike shop had put in). While we waited for the adhesives to dry I was able to test out some floor models of other EUCs I'm interested in, and the repair tech even came outside and talked with me; seeing as how I hadn't ever really met another EUC rider before and was new to "the world". They got my wheel running good as new, and with the hassle that is EUC tire changes combined with the minor repairs, it was an excellent value for the price. At first, I was apprehensive about how much a tire change cost compared to a bike tire, but seeing just how much effort has to go into changing those things made me realize that it's a fair price. That's the price you pay to be on the bleeding edge of PEV technology... And it ain't too bad. You'll be glad you visited! read more
