Rats ate a wire running to my house from a pole. A crew came out and replaced wire. They mentioned a way to hinder rats from using the wire with a guard but didn't have one in truck. 2nd guy came out a week later and trouble shot with me- he went out of his way to research and find a pice of material rats/squirrels slip off of. No more critters using the route! Every time they come to trim redwood away from wire they are professional and above and beyond service. read more

I contacted their office after my house's connection was disconnected, which had the potential to cause a fire. I called their emergency line, and someone assured me they would be out shortly. Six hours later, I saw the truck and a guy with a flashlight. When I went downstairs to greet him, he was already gone. I called again, and they said it was too early to see any notes. The following day, I called again, and the technician couldn't even tell the difference between a coaxial cable and their own neutral wire. If I can give 0 star I will. 75 hours after the massive blackout on 3/14/2023, i am still waiting for the power to go back on. All other buildings, single family homes or apartment buildings alike, in the neighborhood have got their power back, except for three buildings with mine being one of them. Ever since they designated an estimated restoration time (supposedly tonight) on 3/15, we hear no updates at all. Not anything. I tried to call the customer service to hear if they have any updates, the lady was like a machine repeating lines taught in the training textbook, essentially saying "we don't have any updates, and we don't guarantee when you will have your power back. We are not obligated to repair it at a certain time, you do not deserve our patient explanation or receive any information, and there is nothing you can do to us." And I just learned that PG&E caused the massive campfire that cost 84 lives couple years ago. And it started 1500 fries over a 3 year period. Not to mentioned billions of fine and several felony charges. You don't deserve to keep serving the Bay Area and jeopardize its infrastructural safety and energy efficiency. Little reluctant to leave a review for PG&E, it being a utility company funded by our tax dollars. And that my grandpa thought it was a rip off. And a few controversies you can web search. We take our power for granted. If you live in California you know how expensive our power is! Even going solar I bet you will still pay more than most people in the nation for our power but think about all the other places in the world that don't have it. I say this because our power went out. Usually I couldn't careless since I'm not a hospital and I do not need it 24/7. But we had some work being done on my grandmas house and right before it was about to be finished the power went out. We NEEDED THAT POWER ON! Thankfully they got the power in 35 mins so that guys doing work didn't have to leave!!!! PG&E you saved the day. I guess paying you more for making the power come on faster is paying off since it used to take 3 days to a week to get things fixed. I had a gas leak this morning and PGE Fremont CA responded to my home within 15 minutes. Fong , who came and checked out my leak and explained everything to me. The job of your men snd women in the field is a daunting one, that often times goes unrecognized because people around here think that "power" is a God given right. No one stops to acknowledge the dedication ad dangerous work that the Electrical Transmission and Distribution team perform when they put their lives on the line. I got my demo permit today thanks to PG&E executing to a plan they gave me over 2 month ago. All dates for removing gas meter, swinging power from main to temp pole and capping the main gas line was executed exactly per plan. Sherry Medrina stayed to her commitment and despite another emergency yesterday, made sure the crew show up. The crew led by foreman Ed Bull, did the job with highest level of safety and in the process thought me a few things about their work. People do not recognize the level of safety involved in cutting a gas line from a live main and welding a cap in place. I certainly did not. They also do not recognize you need a truck for backhoe, another for your equipment, another for asphalt to patch the job. Keep up the great work Sherry. FREMONT/HAYWARD PG&E: Had an issue with my power when I moved into my new place. Seemed pretty damn dangerous! Called PG&E (Hayward/Fremont 24hr emergency office) and the dude (who wishes to remain nameless) was out here ready to rock in like 20 min. I tell him the issue - within less than 20 min he's up in the bucket and back down. Problem solved. So awesome! I'm from Philly, that would have taken the electric company like at least a 1/2 a day... So impressed! read more

First time I visited PG&E in Blaney St at Cupertino. It sucks there was a long line with one person at the front desk and it was only at 2:30 pm and it took me 55 min in the line and so many people left from the line. Worse scumbags I ever deal with in my life. The work took literally 10 minutes and I am not kidding you, the application was 15 months. They lost my original application and terminated it without telling me or my contractor and claimed it's not their fault and won't speed up my following application because of it. They then changed 3 project coordinators on me for no reasons other than to delay my project. This is why you shouldn't have monopoly. My electrician said this Cupertino office is by far the worse office he has to work with and the Santa Cruz office is a lot more friendly and accommodating. And yes, the front office lady is rude as one reviewer said but then the woman that answers the phone when you call from inside their office is even worse. This a badly managed office. It is worse of the worse. I am waiting for 8 months to get my power and gas disconnected and connect temp power. It took them 8 months to decide on how to disconnect my gas connection as it was tied with my neighbor some 60 years ago. They were asking me to pay for my neighbors gas connection. At last when I told them on legal issues then they took long time (2-3 months) (may be talked to their attorneys) and decided to pay for it. Still they are taking weeks to disconnect power and connect term pole. What a disgusting system. Do not blame city planning or building. They are faster than them. But, PG&E is enjoying monopoly in SF Bay Area and will be doing whatever they want. Is there anyone to to sue them? read more

It's 10 pm - PGE was supposed to be here between 5 & 8 PM to turn on the gas - and they are still not here - I'd like to go to bed - have to be up by 5 am for work. Where are they? A few years ago, they were scheduled to come between 8 am and noon to turn on gas - they arrived a little before 6pm Then another time when they were scheduled between 8 & noon, I called when no one came and was told the guy came and no one was home and he left a PGE paper on the door. I was home the whole time and there was no PGE paper or note on my door. The guy finally admitted he went to the wrong address. After a couple more hours someone came. If this outfit had any competition, maybe there'd be something resembling customer service. What a nightmare. And there's nothing you can do because they're the only company in town with the product you have to have - utilities. read more

Awful, awful customer service. I needed a new gas line installed in my property because the old corroded pipe underground started to leak and could not be repaired. First off, pg&e requires a $2,000 deposit before they even begin to look at your request. After paying up, all information I was ever able to obtain from them was a rather cryptic email full of technical jargon and with an outrageous cost estimate. I mean, really outrageous. As in almost $10k to pull a new gas line from the street source that was just a few feet away. The employees in their "building and renovation" dept NEVER pick up the phone. I left several messages for 2 employees and never heard back. In the end I decided to change everything to electrical. There is a reason monopolies are bad for society and companies funded with tax dollars are the most poorly run. read more

I recently had my power shut off due to an online payment that was never processed in December. Although I had received a confirmation emails explicitly saying "PG&E One Time Payment Confirmation". In addition to the online payment never processing and my power being shutoff when I called about my bill I had the worst experience of my life. Silvia Sanchez from the call center in Fresno Ca was belittling, demeaning and was probably the ruddiest person I've ever spoken with in customer service. Silvia Sanchez continuously treated me as if I was a common criminal that didn't pay my bill whenever whenever I asked a question. We had a situation yesterday due to high winds two power lines were done, lots of sparks, and loud pops. So scary other neighbors call 911. We got a crew to come over and take care of the problem, I was nice enough to aloud them tru my backyard to make things easy for them. They came in the evening about 7 worked well into the night . To my surprise this morning I woke up to my backyard in such a mess, cover with tree branches, power lines and leaves. ecently lost my job in the city of a hayward they revamped the city which cause the rent to spike I lost my home after 7 yrs with my children. The closes family is my foster family who I looked up and seen they moved to Madera from Livermore where I grew up. I reached out to them and they let me commute from hayward to Madera after I lost my place then I found a place in hayward to rent a room near my girls school seeing ass the school was saying where always late. Then after the job lost my 16 yrs old was still working part time at Safeway between sleeping in out car and paying for this rent a room and driving back and forth to Madera she lost her job as well. Now she has finally found work near the place in hayward. I've been offered a job in Menlo Park. Now I find the page off at the unit. The person I'm renting a room from had a payment plan and because they were only paying there monthly agreement and not the attentional balance amount it was SHUT OFF.. I called to see what was going on and what could be done but they wanted 787 to turn it back on. I reached out to HEAP AND REACH, No answer or call back as of yet. My cell is cut off and my children's cells but I can't even get an Obama phone..WOW!! They woman after a long hold told me that she did not care about my job, kid, housing, school, car, food stamp situation, "you and Joel are going to be sitting over there for a while without lights" " and if you were there during anytime since Oct. your responsible for this bill too!" Wow REALLY OMG CANT BE SO. So she told me my Pg&e was cut off in good standing in October when I lost my job and no this bill is not in my name, But NO where not transfer the place into your name so he can pay off his pass due amount" so they are going to cut off service, make all our food go bad, kids can't shower or go to school even those I've been a good customer for years!!! Recently called PG&E on a Friday past 5:00 PM to open account for a new location. Calling a large public utilities company close to end of business hours on a Friday, I was not expecting a memorable experience. But I was pleasantly surprised by the efforts on the part of the person that I spoke with to do a thorough job. Patiently answered every question that I had. The call to establish my account lasted about 20 minutes. In the beginning of the call I had briefly mentioned something about requiring the first bill to enroll kid in the school. Towards the end of the 20 minute call, the PG&E staff brought up my reference to school enrollment and mentioned about a letter that they could send sooner than my first bill that I could use to enroll in the school. Subsequently I received the letter in 3 business days. If she had not mentioned about that possibility I would not have known to ask for it. Her good work goes to the credit of the company. read more
