We had a steady leak coming from the gasket of our hydronic heater. The technician arrived bright and early, just past 8 am, which was greatly appreciated. Upon looking at the leak for a few minutes, he determined that he had to obtain some parts back at the shop. The round trip took him about an hour and a half. We live a good distance from the shop, and he went for parts during the height of the Bay Area morning commute. Upon his return, he successfully fixed the leak. I calculated his total work time at approximately 1.5 hours. When I received the invoice, I was shocked to see that they had billed me for 3 hours of labor. I called the shop to ask if it was indeed their policy to charge the customer for the technician's drive time. It seems ridiculous that the shop billed me $150/hour while the technician sat in morning traffic. The billing department only knocked off $50, which is semi insulting. I am still extremely disappointed that I have to pay for 3 hours of labor when the technician was only performing actual work for half of that time!This policy seems to gouge the customer way beyond my comfort level. smh. I could have had my AC issue fixed two weeks ago by a reputable vendor but selected this one because my mom had previously used them. Martin Air missed their first appointment and rebooked with me and missed the second one too. Time matters. Disrespecting my time by missing appointments and subjecting us to a broken AC when I could be working with someone who could have fixed the issue weeks ago. I have no idea how a business can exist like this that doesn't even show up for their clients and simply just does not care. Avoid this business at all costs. We hired CMS plumber to our house to fix the toilet flushing issue. We were charged $425 for one…read morehour work. Their hourly rate is $225 and they charge the repair kit for $200. We were NEVER shown the receipt for the part. It turns out the repair kit costs about $24.98 in Home Depot and the plumber got it from Home Depot, 1 mile from our house. This is a downright rip-off and dishonest practice. During the repair, the plumber turned off the water and turned it on. Within 24 hours, we came home and the house was boomed with loud water pipe rambling sound, as if the pipes are going to blow off, which has never happened before for the past 30 years we've lived here. We called CMS back and another plumber came. Since this is the problem they might have caused, obviously related to whatever they did to the pipe, we assumed there will be no charge just to see why it happened. Instead, Cory insisted we need to pay an "inspection" fee for $125, because the plumber came here for a few minutes. Note that we have been hiring them for over years and the pipe problem happened right after they left. The attitude of getting every penny you could is not what we expected. We then got a quote from CMS for nearly $1,600 for fixing the pipe issue and was "given a couple of days to consider", as if they are so cheap that the quoted price will go away if we didn't hire them. We decided to hire someone from Taskrabbit. Within 2 1/2 hours, the parts were bought, we were shown the receipt - the total - parts and labor - was $650, almost 1/3 of what CMS quoted us. Judge yourself if they are an honest, reasonable, transparent, courteous business that you should hire. Please ALWASY, ALWAYS ask them to show you the receipts of parts they claim they bought for you. We over- paid them twice as much because we trusted them and didn't ask to see the receipt and they didn't bother showing us. Good luck!

They…read moreinspected my home for an issue, found the root cause and fixed it with a new panel and 2 new circuits for my kitchen. They also installed an electric car charger for me as well as an automatic bathroom fan, both of which have worked perfectly since the installation. I've waited 6 months since work was complete to write this and can attest that their work is indeed tested and true. Above all else, Jon and his team are Thorough and Honest. I called the team out because I believed I had unreliable kitchen circuits because of knob and tube in my house and an old electrical panel that I thought needed to be replaced. Why did I think this? Because a previous home inspector and another electrician had told me these things. Jon and Joaquin did a thorough job of checking my entire home and found that the knob and tube I had in my home had been abandoned, the panel was old, but fine, and that my newer subpanel was a fire hazard. They also found that the electrical issues that I had were because the thicker wire kitchen circuits were wired to a thinner wire circuit in my attic which was causing my breaker to trip. What was quoted to me by a prior electrician as a $40,000 to remove my knob and tube ended up being about $4,000 for a new subpanel and two new dedicated circuits for my kitchen. My house is old and the job ended up being full of new problems. The team handled everything professionally and kept me up informed along the way, even staying late on two nights to make sure they left my house in a habitable state between workdays. Thanks to the Tested and True crew, I can finally run my waffle maker, boil water, grind coffee beans, cook on an electric griddle, and operate a toaster oven all at once without tripping a breaker.
