From quote to install, the project went very smoothly. They were quick to respond to any questions we had, and the full roof replacement was done in about three days. Timing couldn't have been better, since we got several days of rain a few days after the install, so it was the perfect time to "test" the roof to make sure there weren't any leaks. We were solid. Among all the businesses we've worked with for other upgrades to our home, we can honestly say that SoCal Roofing is one of the only ones where we have felt 100% confident in the work that they did. They are very thorough with their work and you can tell they truly take pride in it. We would happily recommend them to family and friends.

Furthermore, Rick thinks it is okay to remove the roof and leave it uncovered for 24 hours before he starts working on it, as he claims to outsource the deroofing portion. Rick refuses to provide copies of documentation stating legal reasons without any knowledge of said law. If you want to be lied to, provided excuses, be belittled by Rick's god-complex and receive threats of delays, go with custom roofing. Edit: Civil Code 5200-5240 states homeowners of a HOA have the right to inspect contracts, invoices, and other association records.

I had a few flashing issues that was making a badly installed window leak and he made certain that they would be addressed during the re-roof. Their pricing came out second lowest of the 6 companies I received quotes from. However, Kyle's communication and praise from other reputable contractors convinced me to roll with them. I wanted the roof done correctly, not necessarily for the lowest dollar amount. Once I signed on, Kyle was there throughout the entire process. He took care of permitting, informed me of when inspectors would show up, and even called to ask if I would like to be moved up on the schedule. I was impressed--I rarely come across contractors that are great communicators. Our new roof took 4 days. Kyle laid out exactly what would happen during each day. He was onsite during the tearoff and walked me through any small issues he saw, such as a few pieces of rotted plywood. The crew Kyle worked with was excellent. Each day, they cleaned up thoroughly and even took in my trash cans on garbage day! What kind of contractors go above and beyond like that? On their final day, one of the workers proudly showed me a video of the roof. I love it when people take such pride in their jobs. After installation, Kyle returned to do a full walk around with me to make sure all of the issues we had previously discussed in the quote were addressed (they were!). Overall, I cannot recommend Competition Roofing highly enough. They are true professionals in their communication, execution, and operations (yes, they are licensed and insured!). It needed a full resheathing (not sure the term). I think he came on a Thursday, we had the full estimate on Friday morning, we agreed on Saturday and he was getting the paperwork done for us on Monday. They demo'd the roof on Tuesday and Wednesday and put up a beautiful new one by Saturday. Mind you this included a couple of 110 degree days, where only one of the workers came to continue so they could still get it done by the end of the week. Above and beyond what we really expected with that kind of heat. There were also a few hassles with the city on the permits and Edison on dealing with the electricity which Roger masterfully handled, where we would have been clueless. Very professional, kind and just a fantastic job all around. Cost was good. We had priced the roof a few years ago and factoring in general increases and Roger's price was about what we expected. So it is a pretty good value. And both the speed and the quality, well worth it. Last, the crew did a good job of clean up too. We have had other work done where the crew left a lot of mess, but Roger's team, every day had cleaned up enough that we felt safe to let our dogs back into the yard when they were gone. I tried multiple times in a span of a month to try to get in contact with them without success. Ended up choosing another company, who was much more responsive. Response to the owner's reply: I am well aware there was no contractual agreement, I never said that there was, otherwise a breach of contract would have occurred. I am conveying it is not good business to ignore customers. It could have been a simple response that you were not taking on new customers, instead of ignoring all contact.

During the job itself they…read moreseemed like nice guys, talk you up about customer service etc. But as soon as the job was done I noticed that the clay tiles I had was not aligned right. Some was so bad that you could literally see exposed underlayment. I was only able to catch this due to a bathroom window I have that just happen to overlook it. If I got the work done on a different part of the roof, probably would never have noticed. And would never be able to call them to address it, so keep that in mind. What's worse is that since the roof work there was no major rain for 16 month, which is outside of the 12 month warranty. So I guess if you never put their roof to the test against mother nature then I guess it's perfect service. But the first time it's suppose to do its job it fails to do so. At this point I'm not sure what they did mess up my tiles and take my money for the privilege. I would literally be in a better position had I not paid them to do "work" on my roof. I tried contacting them several times and met with the cold shoulder. I'm probably just going to eat my losses here but if you're considering them, just be warned. Or make sure it rains in the warranty period!
