I appreciated the input and control I had on these expenses. Since we needed to move out, I had a tight timeline for the project -- mid October until Thanksgiving. Marc and the team did their best despite City of San Jose delays with inspections. We were able to move back in before the final inspection. Every member of the team was kind and courteous. Marc also did a great job working with the window vendor that specializes in older homes. I'm rating the experience a 4.5 out of 5 for two reasons. I was disappointed that the medicine cabinet, switch plates, and hooks were initially installed unevenly (it was corrected). I expected more attention to detail. And I was disappointed in the wear & tear that happened on my wood floors as well as the overall dust in my dining room. I was warned that things would get dusty -- but didn't understand the extent and would have packed away more things. The project managers that we had worked with were Tony, Issac and Amit. The experiences that we had with the team were exceptional, Tony and his team leads were very professional, patient, attentive to details, and transparent to the cost. They were excellent in communications and never delay responding to our messages, usually within a few minutes or within hours for any questions that we ask at any time of the day. In terms of services, they are like one stop shop that includes almost everything that we need from a contractor for remodeling so it really saved a lot of our time from talking with different people for different phases of the remodel. Their team has the architect who started with the floor plan with us, with a lot of back and forth discussions and our inputs taken into considerations. After we agreed and finalized the plan, they submitted it to the city for the permit. Since the architects and the construction team are under the same leadership of NuHome, in our case, Tony, this saves a lot of later potential integration problems between the architectural plans and the executions of the construction. During the construction, there were a few times that we changed our plans, for example, changing the size of the closet and pantry, Tony and the team were accommodating it; and in the middle of the construction, we were also changing the type and the number of outlets and the spot lights, Tony and the team were also incorporated that as well. We also had changed the plan for the TV ascent wall, and the team were fully in corporation and working with for the change, which turned out to be beautiful. Another area that really pleased and benefit us was NuHome has excellent interior designer who had worked with us closely in designing the bathrooms, and helping us picking up the right materials that worked perfectly for us, this saved us so much potential headache as we pretty much knew nothing in this field. The three bathroom designs turned out beautifully and exceeded our expectations. Timeline of events: Mon 2/16: Workers were scheduled for 9:30am but didn't arrive until after 1pm. They re-measured the frame, left to pick up doors (which we were told would already be ordered), and returned saying they were too large and needed shaving, pushing work to the next day. Tue 2/17: The worker arrived on time, but after installation we noticed cracks in the frame and a large gap between the doors where they barely latched. We reported it immediately and were told Alberto would come Thursday. Thu 2/19: Alberto worked all day and said there were finishing touches for Friday. We weren't thrilled with the result but were willing to move forward just to get our son's nursery functional again. Fri 2/20: Alberto admitted the installation had been done incorrectly and the damaged frame needed to be completely redone because the doors wouldn't work long term. While we appreciated the honesty, this reset the project timeline again. He said he'd return Saturday morning. Sat 2/21: At around 8:50am the appointment was rescheduled to Monday. Mon 2/23: We texted at 8:40am to confirm timing. Our message was read but not answered until 10:30am, and he didn't arrive until around 2pm due to another appointment. Tue 2/24: More frame work and putty were applied with instructions to allow a day to dry. Thu 2/26: Painters arrived as scheduled, but Alberto said he couldn't come until Friday and gave no clear arrival window. Fri 2/27: We asked for an ETA so we could plan around our 4-month-old's nap schedule. We were told 2pm, but the worker showed up at 1:15pm, waking the baby. He also didn't have proper tools and spent about five hours chiseling wood out of the door by hand just to get the bolts to fit. That same day we also experienced a serious safety concern. One worker used a metal circular saw indoors, sending sparks flying inside our home. When we raised concerns, the foreman dismissed it and incorrectly claimed sparks from cutting metal cannot start a fire. This got me mad and I did raise my voice. Instead of accountability, the conversation became defensive, including comments that they were "doing us a favor" fixing work we never requested- work that was only necessary because of the original installation mistakes. Our attempt to speak with Benny, the GC, was also frustrating. He repeatedly talked over us while saying he wanted to ensure we were happy, which felt disingenuous given the lack of listening or accountability. Sun 3/1: Alberto returned but left again for another three-hour stretch before finally coming back to complete the job. Nearly two weeks later, the doors were finally operational. Afterward we were told they were losing money because the project took longer and required redoing work. That is not the customer's responsibility. From day one we simply wanted the job done correctly. Throughout the process there were missed arrival windows, last-minute schedule changes, safety concerns, and little respect for our time or the disruption to our household. We also had to closely monitor workmanship due to frame damage and installation defects. I'm sure the company will respond, but everything described here is accurate and documented. This experience was exhausting and unnecessarily drawn out. If you value clear communication, punctuality, professionalism, and safe work practices done right the first time, I would strongly caution against using this company.

Unfortunately a fire occurred in the kitchen area in the main unit (#1) of a four-plex I own,…read morehowever luckily no one was hurt. I searched through Buildzoom to find a contractor to repair the Unit. Buildzoom sent 4 contractors to visit the site and provide estimates. After the evaluation process, I selected Tony Tran Construction. He was the only contractor to send a detailed estimate which accurately included every item that needed to be replaced/repaired. He clearly put in his time and was serious about the bid. I appreciated Tony's humble demeanor and great knowledge about construction. The City building department required a shared firewall with an adjacent apartment (#2) to be updated Fire Rate Drywall Code. Tony drew the plan himself and got it approved of the City of Cupertino. They had to remove the existing 1/2" drywall between Unit # 1 and # 2 and replace them with 5/8" fire rated drywall. In that process, Tony had to remove Kitchen Cabinets and Countertop and demolish the bathtub/shower enclosure. When I just reminded Tony that we wanted to replace the Bathtub with Kohler Cast Iron tub one day and the very next morning Tony delivered the tub to the job site. The demolition was done very fast. I asked Tony to remove the Kitchen Cabinets and save them to re-use later. The Old tile countertop was demolished. Tony installed 5/8" plywood as the underlayment for the Quart Countertop and he didn't charge any extra. The new Quartz Countertop with full backsplash was installed with precision, I hardly can notice the joint lines. I asked him to install a sink setter, and it was done to my satisfaction. I was impressed with the workmanship on the wall tiles that he made in the bathroom. The tiles and grout lines were perfectly straight. Tony asked his workers to apply compound on the bathroom walls to make them smooth before painting. The entire apartment was done beautifully, and I thank Tony for his commitment, thoroughness and attention to the details. Furthermore, the best part was all inspections passed the very first time. I am very happy working with Tony. His team is extremely efficient and gets everything done quickly and perfectly. An honest and hard-working team like Tony is hard to find. He took us to KZ Kitchen where we could buy the Countertops for the Kitchen and Bedrosian for the tiles in the bathroom and he passed his Contractor Discount for everything we bought which was a nice surprise for us. What separates Tony from other contractors is his dedication to making sure my wife and I are totally satisfied with his service. He asked his workers to pay attention to the details, and the outcome was better than we expected. He told us that he and his workers will continue working on our project without job hopping which was great since that helped finish the project sooner. Tony installed 6 new LED recessed lights and replaced all ceiling lights in the kitchen area with new LED recessed lights with dimmers. Now, our Family room and kitchen are very bright when we turn on the lights. Our island was too close to the refrigerator. We asked Tony to move it out 4". He complied and replaced old tiles around the island without charging us any money. The downstairs bathrooms were remodeled with precision workmanship. Tony recommended to install 2 new Electrical outlets: 1 for the lighted mirror and 1 for the bidet if needed in future. He also recommended buying Lighted Mirror at Amazon, and we loved the new mirror. The tile work on the floor and the shower walls is methodically placed with even symmetrical spaces. My wife and I were extremely happy with the beautiful results. Our entertainment cabinets was old Oak frame. We asked Tony if it can be painted so it matches our new cabinet color and he made it happen! Now we have a beautiful kitchen and family room. My wife and I would highly recommend Tony Tran Construction for any home remodeling because you are guaranteed quality workmanship with supremely talented workers. The cost was competitive, especially because it included an in-person designer with mockups. I am a very particular person with perfectionistic tendencies, so it was important to me to have my vision play out to exact specifications. I also needed to have it completed on a tight timeline. Overall, the work that we had done (complete gutting and remodel of a full bathroom, plus retiling the floor of the powder room) met my high expectations. It turned out beautifully and adds a lot to our home. I trusted the workers who did the work, which was important when I had an emergency and had to be away from home for 2 weeks. Jaeden checked in on the project regularly and was in prompt communication with us for any questions or concerns we had. The biggest issue we had was with the supplier, Kitchen Makers, who did not reserve the materials we purchased and did not communicate anything with us or HQR. This led to a delay and, unfortunately, a change in design due to having to find a different vendor for the countertop. However, Jaeden was able to find us a new piece that also saved us a lot of money. At the end of the project, everything was reviewed by Jaeden and myself, and every requested touch-up was made to our 100% satisfaction. We really wanted to like this company based on their great reviews, but the lack of communication and follow-through was incredibly concerning. If they can't arrive on time for an estimate or send through a proposal when promised, it makes you question how reliable they would be for the actual job.
