This is a hole in the wall for starters. Walk in and it's smoky as all get out. I was greeted by Miss T who took my order. Got two burgers, catfish plate and pork chop sammich. If she would have pulled the burgers about a minute sooner they would have been juicy. Flavor was there but leaning toward dry. Pork chop was ok....flavor was good but no real batter to it. Ray's Barbecue (next door) referred me to this place for french fries & fried okra, since they don't offer them. How nice to refer people to another restaurant when you don't have what they need. The place had a thick fog of greasy smoke when you enter. Geez, heard of exhaust fans? It was very dark, too. Nobody greeted me, although the staff was moving back and forth from the kitchen to the front. Finally someone waited on me. When I told him their neighbor referred me, he couldn't care less. The french fries & fried okra I ordered were hot and crispy. Better customer service & some air circulation would have given this place a better rating. read more

Small establishment, friendly staff, delicious food. We ordered the 5pc lemon pepper wings and 1pc catfish with fries. Everything was delicious and fresh, no complaints there. However, I do have two issues with this establishment. I asked for ice water with my meal, and the gentleman informed me they were out of ice. Ummmm, that's different, so I asked for a bottle of water they didn't have any. Everybody does not drink soda. It would have been nice if they had multiple beverage options. My second issue was that the size of the wings was extremely small. However, they were being advertised as jumbo wings. I appreciate the cashier informing me that the wings were drumlette verses whole wings. My suggestion...it may be time to look for a new vendor for better quality of meat. I definitely would return to this establishment, and Yelpers, I recommend you give them a try as well. read more

I prefer my wings fried hard n flavorful. Food was food but I had to wait to order. Once I ordered it took 45 minutes to get my food. The inside was decorated nicely!

Great hamburgers. We just happened on this place because we wanted a take home burger. We got a fantastic hamburger. Good fries also. The burgers r juicy, thick and u can order them with as much much or as little. I always get a bacon burger burger with cheese, extra pickles. They fried the bacon so it's curly and crisp. They were a little short on the pickles but since I took these home-no problem. I'd definitely go back. read more

I've ordered wings from here before and they were good. BUT today the wings were spoiled. I was in the car while my husband went inside and he said the place reeked of dead fish smell. Wings are way too small for the price! Looked online at the menu before going and the sign stated JUMBO WINGS. The wings barely had meat on them. Didn't have wing baskets but have fish baskets?? All the baskets are just fries with the meal right? So why make me pay for a side of fries instead of adding fries to my basket? I guess it's just another way to make money off people. read more

I like fat mat because it's one of few restaurants who still serves real catfish around these parts. But I have only three suggestions. If Phat Matt could met me halfway I'll give them a beautiful 5star rating. I know how it feels to get anything less than 5stars. Here's my 3 suggestions; 1. Please layoff the salt ( let those salt lovers put their own salt on) 2. The fry's are too dark in flavor ( almost burnt tasting) need timer. 3. I like the food at this location. However, the last time I visited. There was a young man in the back without a mask, scratching his head and using a utensil beating on the oven. I politely informed the lady at the check out to have him put on a mask. She kindly asked him to put back on his mask. I believe we all need to hold each other accountable for wearing mask so that restaurants can remain open. People seems to be afraid to ask others to put their mask on properly. This is a good restaurant. I will go there again. read more

100% Best food I've had so far! I know this location is hard to miss, but when you find it boy is it worth it!! The owner is cool, workers work hard, but they can move a little faster. Use timers make sure you keep your customers engaged while waiting. Communicate if the food will come out later than projected! read more

I tried Phat Matt's Wings & Fish 3 for the first time today. It's hard to support small businesses for incidents like today. We ordered 2 of the 10-piece Wing Basket my receipt said it cost $10.39 but the price menu board inside the restaurant read 10-piece Wing Basket was $9.39. So I asked the guy named Will who works there and rang my order up. Why is there a difference of a dollar in my price i paid verse the menu when price? Per Will he stated that the prices went up a dollar maybe 2 months ago and they haven't gotten around to changing the prices on the menu inside the restaurant. I told Will you shouldn't charge was not displayed on the menu. That's why it's hard to support small businesses. It's as if they will do anything to make dollars. Then to find out the Wings don't come with ranch they're $0.54 each. We also got 2 of the catfish nuggets basket $7.95 each, so we ordered some hot sauce which was also $0.54 each. The only thing that would save this restaurant will be the food and it's portions. I felt as if we were getting taken advantage of. I mention to Will they need to correct their prices to the menu or next time I am paying the price listed on the menu. But as of now I don't see me returning. read more

We decided to try this place out since it was close and always wondered about it. We called in an order, said 15 mins for pick up. It was just a little longer but that was ok. We ordered 2 catfish baskets and 10 piece wings. The lemon pepper was extremely salty but the fish was good. Fries are ok. No big complaints. We may return in the future. read more

Great food the fried fish and lemon pepper wings are the best. The service experienced was cool also the environment is similar to wing stop. I would recommend everyone try the fish. The place also has a full bar with a TV several people were there just chilling at the bar while some people ate at the tables. read more

Ordered 10 wings and fries. Chicken was hot, crispy and well seasoned. Fries were also delicious. I visit the DeSoto location which is hit and miss. Sometimes the food is excellent, sometimes it is just OK. Whoever was cooking tonight... Friday night , did an excellent job! read more

The fried catfish is really good. Very good! But, the service is absolutely horrible! How difficult is it to find a friendly person to take orders and work the register? These people are downright rude. Good luck if you ever call to place an order for pick up. They don't repeat it back and you're never sure if your going to get what you actually ordered. I tried to eat at the restaurant and the circus-like atmosphere in the kitchen was so distracting I had to leave. There were several people talking loud and joking around. One person even came out of the kitchen, grabbed the TV remote, changed the channel, and began singing and dancing to the video. All of this right next to the table where I was eating. It is a shame that they seem to have figured out the hard part, which is to make a great product that the public wants to buy. The easy part, customer service, is what will drive them out of business or at least keep them from growing. No one will put up with their rude employees. read more

I called in an order 40 minutes prior to closing and was told it would be 15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later entered the building, there was a guy behind the bar who was watching the news. I stood there for 5 minutes before another guy who worked there entered the store and walked past me without a word. He came out of the kitchen and asked if I'd been helped. I told him pick up order and said he didn't have one so I show him my phone where I called 30 mins ago. He was like that's the number but we didn't have an order and the kitchen is closed. I give this place one star because this establishment has horrible customer service. My friends and I went in here looking for a good new spot to eat and after we left we unanimously decided that we will not return here. We ordered 3 wing baskets, on the menu they offer "jumbo wings" but I'm not sure if the jumbo wings were supposed to come with the wing basket because all of our wings were the opposite of jumbo. But even before that, after we ordered our food at the counter, my friend asked the man at the counter if she could have her drink now while we wait on the food... he told her no... the drink was almost $3 for a little cup and if you're customer wants their drink why not give it to them?? I have a feeling it's because he didn't want her to drink all of her lemonade before her food came out so that he wouldn't have to give her a refill once she got the food. He literally didn't give any of us our drinks until our food was ready which took about 20 minutes.... Seriously this is why it's hard to support businesses like this because they care nothing about the people who come in the establishment spending their hard earned money. The employee who was working really needs training on customer service. On top of that the food was decent not even near worth the wait or all the smoke that we had to inhale because he was back in the kitchen burning food making the entire restaurant Smokey. I visit Phat Matts at least once a month and it has always been very good. The fish and wings are very good with large portions. I have encountered several different cashiers but they have all been nice and helpful. I strongly suggest this restaurant. read more
