This is probably my favorite coffee shop in the US. The cafe Nico is my favorite coffee drink I have had and usually get this along with an espresso whenever I visit Seattle. The espresso itself is mostly crema, really well done and not something I have found many places outside of Italy they definitely know what they are doing. Plenty of seating and places to work if you want to work there and they also sell pastries and take home items like beans, mugs, espresso cups etc. Definitely worth a visit if you are local in the Seattle area or visiting. Parking on broadway is a bit hit or miss but you can usually find a spot either on the main street or a nearby side street. read more

Chill music sets a nice vibe and the service is friendly and welcoming into their establishment. Posters on the wall showcase local flavor and they have a rack with publications so you can peruse through and may find somewhere else to venture to while up on cap hill. I tried this based off of a recommendation from a peer. This is a no frills, quality coffee shop. You order with a barista, they make it on the spot, you pay, then go on about your day. I got an iced latte with simple syrup and it was fantastic. Their espresso was so so good. I bought a bag of beans on my way out to enjoy at home. This coffee shop was recommended as the coffee shop I had to visit. The Nico was the recommended drink so early Sunday morning I made my way up. I walked in and while I waited I checked out the pastries. I was greeted and I ordered one of the pastries and my drink hot. Service was good and as efficient as they could be as they were busy. I think it's safe to say I'm a regular at Vivace! I usually visit the Capitol Hill location since it's close to my work, but honestly, both locations are fantastic. My go-to drink is the White Velvet- a rich, velvety white chocolate mocha. I prefer it hot, as the iced version can be a little too sweet for my taste. The staff at Vivace are always warm and welcoming, and their barista skills are top-tier! The latte art is consistently beautiful. Between the quality of the coffee and the cozy, inviting atmosphere. Both locations have a quiet room, as it can get pretty busy and loud. Vivace easily ranks in my Top 3 favorite coffee spots. Bonus: I always leave smelling like fresh coffee! Just okay to me :( I am not a regular coffee drinker and I would say that I am not an expert at all. I usually like sweeter drinks so that already kind of works against me at most places. I went with a couple of people because of a recommendation and I don't think that I will come back. The price point here is quite high but I think that is due to the area. I paid about $9 for a 16 oz drink after tax and tip and all which is not amazing. The service was pretty quick but I wouldn't say that it was the friendliest. The barista taking our orders did not smile at any of us and I don't think they smiled at the people in front of me either. Not super important but it just didn't feel inviting or welcoming at all. My drink itself was just okay. It may have been my fault because I asked for extra caramel but I could barley taste the coffee at all. The others in my party also could not taste the coffee in their drink and they did not ask for any adjustments. There are not too many redeeming qualities because it is not cheap, the people are not friendly, and the coffee is just okay :( They do have plenty of space for people and it seems like it is a pretty lively spot so it may be good for a study spot or a coffee and crafting thing! read more

The espresso was smooth with zero bitterness, and the orange-cinnamon combo in the Nico was balanced and surprisingly refreshing. The shop itself has a relaxed, homey vibe that makes you want to sit and people-watch for a bit. The only reason it's not five stars is the barista with the nose bridge rings and slumped shoulders, who looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. It was quiet, about an hour before closing, and I mentioned it was my first visit. I asked a few questions about the menu and got the kind of answers that make you feel like you've just interrupted a very important daydream. The drinks were made perfectly, but the friendliness didn't quite make it into the cup. Still, I'd come back for the coffee without hesitation. This could've easily been a four star review if the barista wasn't so rude. It's like he couldn't be bothered that day. And the latte art was kinda messy. At the very least, the vibe of the coffee shop was that of an old school Italian coffee shop and the espresso was good. I tried a cortado and it really showcased the complex and velvety dark notes of the espresso. People aren't up yet and you can just sit there and enjoy the sounds of birds chirping on Broadway or you can immerse yourself in a book. This is a good mood cafe cultivating community and art. Maybe I just had a hard time with my drink or came on an off day but I wasn't very impressed by the iced vanilla latte I got from here. It was ridiculously sweet and I hate asking to remake drinks but it was so bad I was going to throw it away and just leave. I did ask them to remake it and it was slightly better but still just meh. If you are someone who likes just a touch of sweetness but not drinking straight vanilla syrup do not get anything with syrups from this place. Lesson learned. A bit disappointing though as most decent coffee shops can nail this very basic drink. I know some people may prefer a sugar bomb but it's always easy to fix a drink with less sugar than one that has more. The biscotti was just fine though! Will try and come back next time I'm in Seattle and get a drink without any sweetener. With that said I later had a fabulous iced latte with syrup at an establishment close by and it was what I wish this place had. On our Seattle trip we were on the hunt for the best coffee in Seattle and this was definitely in our top 3. It's not in the touristy area which is actually quite nice so the prices are very reasonable compared to other places. Very friendly service and they were extremely patient in describing some of their menu (fortunately we hit it at a slower time as to not hold up a line). WOW!! Amazing coffee. I wasn't feeling for a decadent coffee so I just got a hot latte and I was Wowed. The milk is so frothy and it had very subtle notes of sweetness even though I didn't ask for any syrups. They also make it on the spot, very quick and nice. Great coffee shop stop in the Cap Hill neighborhood! I really appreciated being open in the afternoon and evening as many coffee shops close around then... not so much in Cap Hill though... but still it's appreciated. Steve and I had some time to kill before needing to be somewhere at 7 pm and this was the perfect place to go to do that. Ridiculous customer service. No greetings, no how are yous, no fluff that you would ordinarily expect to receive at a cafe. The baristas don't make eye contact, they don't smile, they don't want anything to do with you. They just want to pump out your drink and move on. If you want coffee and want to feel rushed and ignored, go here. The ambiance is pretty good, the space is airy and there's a lot of seating but the whole cafe's mood is ruined by baristas who've been in the trade for so long that they forget how to be good ones. I enjoyed my latte, it had excellent foam. However, I left the cafe with a sour taste in my mouth. PS - the short barista with a beard and receding hair line is the meanest I've ever encountered, all the other ones are either aloof or zoned out. read more

When in Seattle it is an absolute must stop for me! I love Vivace! They have a very good coffee selection, great international Coffee Beans to choose from, the flavors and aromas are phenomenal here. Cafe Nico is my go to at Vivace. I can't say enough about the efficient and attentive staff who always seem to be glad to be there, it's pretty clear to me that staff loves working here. Went in and ordered my normal coffee latte and sat at the table expecting coffee nirvana. Gotta admit I was rather disappointed. Now granted, I do like a strong espresso and I enjoy a bold, not burnt, robust blend. This coffee is almost the opposite. Dont know if I got a bad pour but this coffee is very mild, light and dare I say tea like. It's the exact opposite of the type of coffee that I enjoy. Aside from me not really enjoying my coffee, the staff was cool and the establishment was clean with ample seating. Would I go back? Sorry to say...very doubtful. read more
