Pretty cafe with the best creative/flavorful matcha/hojicha drinks! The lychee matcha was sweet and unique and the hojicha with cream was sooo smooth and delicious. Also local business products sold inside as well. Love this place!

Yoka is seriously one of my favorite cafes in Seattle! The vibes are unmatched super cozy, great aesthetic. I'm honestly obsessed with their Turon Matcha Latte. I don't even usually go for overly sweet drinks, but theirs is just perfect. The banana flavor comes through so clearly without tasting artificial, and the banana jam on the bottom is so yummm. I could drink it every day and not get tired of it. The wait could be awhile because they hand whisk every matcha drink but it's so worth it. Definitely try to Lychee Matcha spritz. (i forgot the actual name of the drink but it was a Lychee Matcha soda) Definitely worth checking out if you're in Seattle and want a cute cafe with unique drinks!

I loved the super chill vibe of the Yoka Tea. They have a variety of seating for studying and chatting with friends and a little snack/store area before the registers. Since it was my first time visiting, the barista recommended the matcha einspanner which turned out to be so so good. The sweet yoka whip was the perfect balance to the earthy matcha. My friend ordered the hojicha version which was also just as good!

I'm actually a matcha hater; the flavor is fine enough, but bad matcha is terrible: horrendously powdery and too strong of a grassy flavor. However, Yoka Tea genuinely does the best version of matcha I've had. Their matcha is smooooooth, not bitter at all, and the cream is fluffy without being overly sweet. We tried both the Turon Matcha and the Matcha Einspanner. Personally, I preferred the turon with the touch of banana flavor, but both are great options! Location wise it's a bit out of the way and street parking only, but if you're going to get matcha, this one is worth going out of your way for. Bonus: there wasn't really a wait on a rainy Saturday afternoon at 2PM.

Yoka Tea is a modern Filipino-Korean cafe with some cool vibes and unique drinks. To get here, there is street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a spacious setup with a good amount of seating. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different coffee and matcha drink to choose from. I ended up trying the Yuzu Matcha-Ade and it was super refreshing! All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Come stop by and support!

I got the Turon Matcha - overall, I enjoyed it! The matcha was high quality and they use a reasonable amount of it; they also don't add a ton of ice which is nice. The banana puree at the bottom gave the matcha drink a nice sweet flavor that was enjoyable. My biggest problem with the drink is that there isn't enough banana puree, so towards the end the drink goes back to being bitter. I don't mind too much since I like matcha without sweeteners but I think it would be better if the drink was more consistent with the sweetness. Another downside is that the drink is quite pricey at $9 before tax, but I guess all matcha is just that expensive nowadays. I went around closing on a random weekday but it was still very packed and busy inside. The inside is well lit and there are plenty of places to sit and chat (though it's pretty loud so I personally wouldn't really hang out there). 4.7/5

The overall setup of this coffee shop was clean and cute. I love that it started as a pop-up and now has a permanent space of its own. They also collaborate with other small businesses that do pop-ups here, which is such a great way to give back to the community, often through pastry pop-ups. I also appreciate that they host a running club of some sort. It really makes the space feel like more than just a coffee shop. Matcha Einspanner - The flavor is absolutely spot on. The matcha tastes high-quality and earthy, and it balances perfectly with the velvety cream top. The only reason this isn't a full 5/5 is the ice-to-drink ratio. There was a bit too much ice in the cup. I'd recommend asking for less ice, I finished the actual drink pretty quickly because there was too little milk and too much ice. Another downside is the cost. It's probably the most expensive matcha I've had in Seattle. Strawberry Matcha - Same situation here. The flavor is on point, but there's too much ice and it's also pricey. I do appreciate that they use a strawberry compote which is a chunky, spoonable fruit mixture that's quickly cooked with sugar (and sometimes a little water). It adds a nice, real-fruit touch.

Banana bread latte was possibly best coffee drink I've ever had and I am dreaming about it. The place is kinda out of the way of my normal movements so will travel there when I just must have amazing drinks. I also got a matcha with Yoka foam it was also really good. Parking is tough as there is no lot.

I've been happy to see that Yoka Tea has a brick & mortar. I still remember the days that they started off as a pop-up along Airport Way. One of the drinks that I've been excited to try is the Moonrock, which is black sesame paste with your choice of milk. It is a drink from their old pop-up days, which I never had a chance to try. It's currently their seasonal winter menu, so I'm not sure how long it lasts. You can get it as-is or add matcha. Another drink that I love is their Saigon Cinnamon as a hot drink. I love how this place always does pop-ups and collaborations. In the summer, they hosted COVRY, an Asian-owned eyewear company based in California. I love that brand and it was their first time ever in Seattle. In December, they hosted twenty2bakes and her salt bread which sold out immediately. Yoka Tea also regularly hosts a run club. Along with pop-ups, they like to support other Asian-owned businesses. Yoka Tea has a variety of Asian snacks and crafts that you can browse and purchase in-store. Rooted Fare's Crunchy Black Sesame Butter is one of my favorites and there's not many places you can get it in-store here, so I was impressed to see it on the shelf! This place is always bustling and many people like to co-work here, meaning you might not be able to find a seat. Parking can also be challenging, but not impossible. If you get a chance, I recommend checking this place out!

Hands down my favorite neighborhood coffee/matcha spot in Seattle. If you're looking for a really sweet coffee and like banana the banana bread latte is the way to go. Otherwise for a less sweet experience the yoka einspanner is excellent. Other people I've been with vouch for the matcha being tasty, however I'm not a big matcha fan so can't personally say anything about it. They do have a few pastries from The French Guys and some Onigiri for purchase. And there is seating available however if you go on the weekend or mid morning it might be packed, it's a hot spot for sure. Something I most appreciate about Yoka is how community focused they are, there's usually events posted that are happening in the area and they also host a run club!

My matcha bestie and I ventured out to Yoka Tea to get their limited Moonrock Matcha (black sesame matcha) all the way in Madrona. This was my first time trying Yoka, but my friend has been at least two or three times and said that "Yoka is one of the very few places I am willing to go and spend my money on matcha". Yoka has a fairly small interior, but my friend and I were able to snag a couple of seats at the window counter. There were lots of people studying, chatting, and working when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Yoka also sells lots of cool Asian products such as corgi keychains, black sesame paste, ube-flavored popcorn, rice cooker totes, etc.. They also recently selling their own matcha for $32.99 per canister (50g I think) and have free logo stickers next to the register. The MOONROCK MATCHA ($8.99 including choice of milk) was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. They hand whisk all matcha drinks and I was SHOCKED at how vibrantly green the matcha was (you can tell the quality of the ceremonial matcha they use). The black sesame was sweet and nutty and perfectly complemented the earthy matcha notes. It was by far, one of the BEST matcha lattes I've had in a long time and I savored every sip. Next time, I hope to try their Banana Bread matcha which my friend says is her absolute fav! Parking is street only, but I had no problem finding a spot. There are also lots of cute boutique stores to walk around nearby and so highly recommend taking your matcha to go and support some other local businesses too. Service was great and the baristas were very friendly. We had our drinks in less than 10 minutes after ordering. The interior is clean and modern. Bathroom is spacious and clean too. Overall: 5/5 for drinks, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

Came in for a popup they did with a small independent baker! Their seasonal drinks were amazing - especially the banana bread latte for the fall. The cafe is super aesthetic with a great mix of seating with tables and on couches. They also have a cute area selling snacks, onigiri, and stationary. Service is super friendly as well- highly recommend!

I really enjoyed Yoka tea; both the atmosphere and the drink. I really appreciate the products they carry from other Asian businesses, they carry Gochiso which is my favorite line of PNW Asian snacks! I opted for the Hojicha Einspanner which was really nice. It was the perfect amount of sweetness to tide me over, and the hojicha taste was strong. A little pricey at $9, I would come back for it but not too often.

If I were hit by a meteor tomorrow, and then to my complete surprise and amazement were immediately…read morereincarnated as a croissant... ...I would choose to rematerialize as a Madison Park Bakery almond croissant. That's because, if my new life as a French pastry is going to last only about an hour or so before I'm lustily consumed (and perhaps then reincarnated as, say, an aardvark), I would want to spend that hour on earth as the very best of my ilk. Madison Park Bakery's almond croissants are that good. Let's put it this way...soon after trying my first such croissant, I had the opportunity to compare it with some formidable competition: an almond croissant from the world-renown Tartine bakery in San Francisco. It wasn't even close. The Tartine version was disappointedly average: chewy, little if any crispy crunch, uninspired filling, a bit dry overall and just possibly a tad on the stale side, (sure, it's possible that the fancy foods shop I bought it from, rather than from Tartine directly, sold me a day-old? If so, may you be reincarnated as a limp, overcooked asparagus spear!) In delicious contrast, head chef, Provence-born Cecilia Lystad's croissant is more like the Platonic ideal (not that almond croissants were a thing during Plato's lifetime, otherwise we might find them carved in marble relief on the Parthenon's facade): crunchy on the outside, clearly laminated layers (I think that's the correct term) on the inside--nothing like the croissant-impostering ponderous, dry sponges you might encounter, say at Oakland Airport late on a Sunday night. Poor Oakland...maybe you'll be reincarnated as Paris? And just the right amount of butteriness, sweetness, yeastiness. The generous amount of frangipane filling is delightfully jammy and tastes freshly-made, probably of almonds bakery-ground early this morning. What's more, this here dang croissant is paradoxically light and quite filling at the same time (don't forget, this is a supernatural confection--only the baker knows its secrets). While the pastry was half gone in about the amount of time it takes to say "yum!" I wouldn't attempt to eat the whole thing in one go. Half will satisfy you, unless you are a total gourmand or goinfre (look it up). Make a heroically disciplined attempt to save some for an after-dinner treat. Ancient disciplines such as Ayurveda, for instance, maintain we should cover all the major taste bases--including "sweet"--as part of every meal. I can only claim I've scratched the surface of Madison Park Bakery's other offerings (whenever I step in, the devil in my ear aggressively whispers "get the almond croissant, you fool!"), though the chocolate licorice cookie was nice in a subtle "adult" way, and their apricot-almond pastry was like the croissant reincarnated as an accomplished piece of folk art--almost too pretty to eat. As is their pistachio cream tartlet. Because I'm an artist (painter mostly), and a prime way I enjoy life is through the lens of appreciation for striking color juxtapositions, I would be happy to fossilize this tartlet and keep it forever on my countertop--what gets me is that minor key combination of whimsical pistachio green swirls married to the cool red of the fresh raspberries and fragrant raspberry coulis filling. Obviously created by a chef who has a sophisticated eye for subtle color harmony! Then there's her take on the French classic Gâteau au Chocolat. Imagine if a dark brown cow were able to produce milk the color of a shot of espresso macchiato, and that dusky chocolate milk were then hand-churned into dark chocolate butter...that's my best description of the main layer of this deep, dark and dense gâteau. It's meant for those who are in it for the chocolate and not so much the cake. That said, in the spirit of full disclosure, I'm an outlier among patisserie patrons: unlike most Americans, I don't really have a sweet tooth. And prefer to keep my teeth from going wiggly. My vote is always for intensity of flavor rather than sugariness. My ideal of a chocolate cake would contain not only no white flour, but also hardly any sweetener. But then, you're reading the ravings of someone who eats straight 100% cacao baking chocolate without grimacing in the least from the bitterness. Embrace and explore the bitterness, I say. Knowing is appreciating--could help explain the growing popularity of Italian amari, which I also enjoy. Hey chef, you can't please everyone. And shouldn't try, lest risk diluting what you do best. So keep doing it. Be inventive in a way that foremost pleases you. Bake for your own tastebuds and secondarily for your fans, not for your detractors. Judging by the lineup of eager seekers of excellent French patisserie and cuisine, my prediction (and I bet you a lifetime supply of your almond croissant about this!) is that if you stick to your guns you will not only deepen the loyalty of your core base of fans, but also grow that core market. Bon appétit!

I was delighted to see there's a bakery now, and not just Starbucks. I am very picky when it comes to pastries as my husband is from France, and I've been fortunate enough to be spoiled by French pastries over the years. I've been extremely disappointed in the past when trying pastries in the seattle area, even at some bakeries that are quite popular. As soon as I walked into MPB and saw their case of pastries, I knew I was in for a treat. You can just tell when the pastries are going to be GREAT. I ordered a pain au chocolat and a croissant. They were absolutely phenomenal. So perfectly buttery and flaky. FRESH! I really was transported to France and truly believe this is one of the best bakeries in seattle. Definitely has the best croissants and pain au chocolat out of any of the other places I've tried (yes I've been to all the top spots). The only complaint would be that they aren't open Mondays (but most bakeries aren't since they are open all weekend).

I figured I'd clarify with the person making the drinks and mentioned that I wanted a bit more oat milk in the second drink because my friend finds it too sweet. As soon as I said that, the cashier interrupted and told me my drinks were not made with oat milk. I said they were, and her exact response was: "Good thing you didn't pay for them." Excuse me? I told her I did pay--and I paid the same amount I always do for this exact drink at this location. Then we got the drinks. The one with less ice was literally half empty. I'm not exaggerating--maybe 10 oz at most, even though I ordered a 16 oz. So now I'm wondering: if you order an iced drink and ask for less ice, do you just get less product? Because that doesn't make sense. If you order hot matcha you get 16 oz, but if you don't want hot and don't want ice in your drink you'll get half empty cup. Will not go back. Everyone who was with me was shocked how rude the woman was.
