Lately they've been offering a buy one get one combo at this location on Mondays and Wednesdays, so I decided to see how they fare against Titas kitchenette, the other Filipino deli take out in the same complex. I showed up at noon during the food rush, and they already have multiple dishes ready to serve. For the price of a one, two or three item combo or a grilled bbq combo, you can get a second one for free. At this time, the two item combo I paid for was $12.50 plus tax. I got the pickled bittermelon, pork adobo, curry chicken and the pink pork adobo with half pancit and half rice. They all tasted rich and fresh. It's also a pretty good deal for leftovers or if you're looking to feed a family. They also speak english and at least tagalog, so I would recommend this place for a fast meal. read more

I came here on Christmas Eve to pick up some hot food to go because Tita's Kitchenette was ransacked and completely out of everything. There was a wide selection of food here and we picked up bangnus (fish), lechon, dinugian, and a few others. The hot foods were fresh and not dried out, flavors were good and I was overall satisfied. Loved DoorDash cux it bring all ethnicities food to your door without actually go out of your way I order a squid , BBQ chicken , some noodle dish , and a soup . From the order, I was looking forward to the BBQ, instead I got a hard overcooked chicken... It's a disappointment for me. I got the 3 combo with pancit, pork adobo, pork sinigang, and beef caldereta, plus lumpia and halo halo with ube ice cream. Pancit was a 4/5 star, hoping for a little more veggie. Pork adobo was made with pork belly, so understandably pretty greasy, but taste was on point, 4.5/5. Pork sinigang was sooo sour but I like it that way. Strange it got separated into to foam containers. Why couldn't they just use a plastic quart container like most other takeouts for soups? 5/5 for taste, 2/5 for packaging and difficulty unpacking without making a complete mess. Beef caldereta was tangy and savory, but some pieces of the large chunks of beef was slightly chewy and the flavor did not penetrate to the center, 3/5, edible still. Lumpia was soggy but fine after heating in the toaster for 10min. Filling was pretty tasty but scant. Order contained about 12 small ~1" lumpias and I usually like the medium sized ones better since you get more filling and less greasy wrapping. 3/5, not sure if I'd order from here again. Halo halo was ordered on a whim at check out, not something I'd go for normally. I didn't finish it because half the toppings, like the palm seeds, had a mushy texture that I did not enjoy. The ube was great though, 2/5. Ordered delivery through Uber Eats, and the driver had another delivery to make after already picking up my food, so my experience may have been affected by the 25min delivery time, and also the complete lack of care in how things were delivered. The beef caldereta foam container was squished to a football shape, and even with two layers of plastic wrap tightly wrapping the container, it still leaked everywhere in the bag. The halo halo was also sealed tightly, but was left on its side rather than upright, so there was leakage as well. Plus it probably melted a great deal because it was more like a boba tea with a large chunk of ice in the center, since it was not insulated in anyway, but at least it was in its own bag away from the hot food. There really are not many filipino food available for delivery. I think if I am in the mood and am too lazy to pick up from my usual place, Tita's, I probably will order again from here. read more

Tried this place a couple weeks ago and have been coming here since. They have a good selection of Filipino dishes. My favorite is the lechon. Two item combo is only 9$ and they give a large portion. Located inside a small grocery store. Got 2 sets of combo. Pancit is a NO, lacking of flavor. Variety of selections to choose from and they all have tasted differently. If you're familiar with Filipino dishes these are what I've ordered. Bopis- is a must try. Great amount of flavor and tasted great. Dinakdakan- not this one, overpriced coz it's excluded from the combo. They charge by weight. Sadly, the taste isn't good. Pancit- flavorless glass noodles. Bistek- tolerable. Vegetable Stew(diningding)- not good as well. Overall experience? Not so impressed, although the servers here are friendly..... that I liked. But I need to enjoy my food. Ordered on DoorDash and was extremely satisfied with my order. I was craving comfort food and PhilHouse was spot on! We went IN and I wish we would've taken pics, but will definitely be ordering more so I'll update when we do so. Here's what we ordered: Chicken Adobo - sooooo tender, juicy, and flavorful, literally falling off the bone; tasting this definitely made me nostalgic for some home cooked adobo. Pork Menudo - YUM!!! very flavorful, the meat was just a taaaad on the overcooked side but it was still delicious. Pork Sisig - again, the flavors were SPOT on, there was a nice citrusy flavor that made me want calamansi on the side to add even more. Bistek - this was the one dish that was okay. It wasn't bad by any means, it just didn't stand out in comparison to everything else we ordered. Hard to mess up. But for Filipinos who know their rice, you know it's not premium grade Jasmine. IYKYK ‍ Adobo- Good-size cuts of meat. Good flavor. But for the love of God, can you spend a little bit more time cooking it so I don't develop a headache trying to chew the food? Sisig- Again good-size cuts. But lacking in flavor. Where is the signature vinegar/citrus flavor of sisig? Disappointed. Squid Adobo- Hard stop. The cuttlebone and the beak we're not removed so be prepared to pull them out of every squid. My son and I wanted to try the place out. We usually go to Tita's or Lisa's but wanted to try Philhouse out. We had ordered some halo halo, dinuguan, sisig, menudo, lumpia, and both pork and chicken adobo. We also got both rice and the pancit bihon. My son liked the dinuguan and said the portion was good and they didn't just give you fat like most places. The menudo had so much fat, but the flavor was ok. The sisig was rather sweet. And the pork adobo was too tough to chew, but both adobo only had the flavor of soy sauce. You couldn't smell or taste the vinegar in either adobo. The shanghai and pancit was just ok. This place is the spot for Filipino food in National City. I do recommend the food because its delicous and they make it clean as you see how the how the whole kitchen is clean and organized. My previous go to was the other infamous Filipino restaurant in front of it. But know I'm all about this place. I really love their Beef Caldereta and Beef Kare kare they used some brisket and some quality kind of meats. I've tried all the food and I tell you its all delicious. This is how filipino food should be not that greasy, fantastic presentation of food and they cook it with patience and time just like homestyle cooking. Great quality food. In addition, they offer delivery service(Doordash and etc...) the delivery is straightforward and they have everything in the menu and the walk in service in the restaurant is pretty fast and follows the social distancing protocols. On the other hand, One less star because of the ambience of the restaurant being inside of a fish market I personally dont feel comfortable eating at these environment.
