If you've never been invited to a Filipino party, then here's your INVITE! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Las Islas is an awesome blend of comfort Pinoy foods, ballad filled karaoke, and party but homey feel vibes!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely a MUST VISIT! Will be back again.

It's a love hate relationship I have with Las Isla Filipinas but I still keep coming back! I've been coming here a few years now and it's sooooooo painful placing a phone order and waiting for the food! But the food is good! Isn't that a crap shoot?!? [[HIGHLIGHT]]They're always hosting birthday parties here. There has never been a time I've been here that there wasn't at least three birthdays being celebrated with karaoke! Which makes it extremely loud inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So if you come here, be prepared to wait. We haven't actually dined in here since we found this place during the pandemic. But we've been here plenty of times. The fastest way is to phone in your order and then burn time getting there and it may be ready by the time you get there. There have been times I've told them, their phone isn't working. So when that happens you have no choice but to go there and place your order... and wait. Pluses and minuses of both. Phone in order - faster, but 50/50 chance of your call going through. If it does, it's so loud inside, you wonder if they can hear your order and now your shouting on the phone too! If you place a small order than you may not need to pay over the phone. We always order a ton of food so it's upwards of $100. Which require you to pay beforehand. So now you're trying to give them your credit card number and they can barely hear you and shouting it back to you over the phone. The worst if you didn't want the whole world shopping on your credit card. Then comes the waiting. It's always a min of 30 mins before your food is ready. We've waiting over an hour when it's busy. Sucks, but it's worth it. I was so in love with this place at first. On our very first visit I order the lumpia of course, but is not great. I was so sad. But then I discovered their sisig. I don't like anyones sisig and I love theirs! It's crisp and clean tasting and they make it to your spiciness level. They have cut down the portion since Covid, and we always end up ordering two orders so we can get our fill. The chicken adobo is good, but tons of bones. I like the pork adobo better. The garlic fried rice is a favorite staple of mine. It's simple, and so good. We've tried both the Pancit Bihon (rice noodles) and Pancit Canton (egg noodles). I usually like the rice noodles better, but it was just meh. The Canton with egg noodles was better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bums outside, so while your waiting keep the car doors locked![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No issues parking. Staff can be hit or miss. When they just can't hear you, they hang up. Not good. You would think they want regular customers to keep coming back. Good luck and enjoy! 2024: 20

After searching for a vegetarian/pescatarian friendly spot open after 7pm, I popped into Las Islas Filipinas to give it a try. I was warmly greeted by staff and seated right away. I met Susan, the owner, who was so friendly and helpful with recommendations on what to order. This is THE SPOT for some post-work karaoke! I was asked by staff if I wanted to sing and was handed a slip of paper/pencil to fill out my song request. Although I didn't sing, I had a great time listening to all the folks that did; many of whom had such incredible voices! I would like to note, for folks who have hearing sensitivities, to come prepared with hearing protection/ear plugs, as the music volume is cranked up during later hours. (Protect your precious hearing!) I ordered the noodles with seafood and had also tried the fried calamari and the Bangus sisig. The crispy calamari with the accompanying sauce was simply delicious and the bangus sisig was also fresh and tasty. I would've preferred the noodles to have a bit of spice to them, but they were good overall. The seafood was fresh and I had a great experience!

This place seems popular for parties that like karaoke. I tried calling to order my food togo, but i could not get an answer. I wanted to hate the place, but the food was really good. I got the sisig, garlic fried rice, and pancit. I will be back for the sisig and garlic rice for sure.

SUCH A VIBE!! Service was beyond friendly and quick. Fun decor. Reasonable pricing. And beyond all: delicious! Swing by for a beverage paired with their famous calamari, spicy sisig, and garlic rice. You won't regret it. Perfect way to end the week!

We were in San Diego for a quick overnight visit, had already had appetizers and then saw this place on Yelp. Off we went, and we were thrilled when our Uber driver said he had picked someone up from that restaurant and he looked like he had a great time, sang in the car all the way home! So we get there and it was packed but wow, you would have thought we were VIPs the way the manager tried to find us a table and then brought us chairs so we could sit while we waited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Okay, the vibe, this was like going to your aunt's house and everyone's singing and having a good time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated next to a group of 20-year-olds who could SING, I guess they appreciated our amazed looks and I swear if they stayed longer I would have bought them all drinks, they were so friendly. The food comes out, I'm telling you it's like a family party, kare-kare and rice in small pots on wicker placemats, no need to be fancy here because we're all family! The food was amazing, hearing my Titos and Titas and cousins singing was amazing (we're all related right) and don't even hesitate if you think you can't sing because everyone will join along and support you! Just wish our dad was still here because he would have LOVED this place and we would have loved bringing him here.

FOOD + KARAOKE ... I don't sing so I'm there specifically for the food! Don't feel awkward when you aren't sure to enter the restaurant or not. Is there a private park going on? Nope! Uncle on the mic "are you here to eat? Come on in!" This restaurant felt more like coming to a Filipino party. Always someone on the mic, an Uncle in the middle of the floor singing his heart out with karaoke... is he prepping for Idol Philippines?! Everyone watching, chatting, and having a good time. Do each table know each other, likely not, but it's very "community" feeling. Vibes are good here! The kitchen is towards the back with a few bar stools at the kind of bar/register area. The staff are super generous and kind. The food was cooked on order and very fresh tasting. GARLIC FRIED RICE - their version of garlic fried rice is like how my family makes it. Not too garlicky but has garlic pieces in it and the rice is still very white (not yellow, brown, etc). This is how I like my garlic fried rice! BANGUS SISIG - i find it challenging trying to find Bangus sisig in San Diego. When I saw that they serve it here, I had to try it because I haven't had it in a long time. Their version Bangus sisig was very acidic compared to others that I've tried. It's not bad but might be a little too acidic but the garlic fried rice helps maintain some balance. I can't wait to try other things on their menu. I think I'm going to really like the other dishes. JABA APPROVE. Until the next review...

They were so nice to my mom when we came - calling her ate and singing songs for her that she had requested; as my mom is super shy. The food was really good - better than titas! My mom even said it reminded her of home. My mom is my world and she had the best time here, so thanks for such a great experience! I will be back.

Driving thru SanDiego from San Felipe and yelping for Filipino restaurantsv this was the first restaurant to pop up. Wow 5 stars and good reviews. Went there for dinner and ordered fried calamari, beef nilaga, crispy pork sisig, pinakbet topped with lechon kawali and shrimps. And for dessert, turon. Wow! They were all good. Hats off to the chef, the owner, Susan, and our friendly/customer service oriented server. PS..... saturday @ 6:30 is karaoke night. Thanks DJ Judy for welcoming us.

Great food, fun atmosphere. Service is great, they make you feel at home. Food does take a while to come out, but when it does it's super fresh and delicious. They have live karaoke, which makes the ambiance for fun!

I have a loved one in a nursing facility in North San Diego and the staff there provide the kind of compassionate care that comes with dignity. After experiencing another facility that was so heartbreaking it left me questioning everything. I wanted to do something meaningful to thank this incredible team. A card didn't seem like enough. Flowers fade. But good food? Good food creates memories. I ordered the sisig, pancit, and their famous signature lumpia rolls, along with pandesal from Valerio's. Ordering was a breeze. I placed my order at 9:30 a.m. and picked everything up at 4:00 p.m. Three small trays turned out to be an incredible amount of food. I planned for 10 people, but it fed a whole lot more as many from different units gathered to share. The moment that sealed it for me happened before a single tray was opened. A nurse I had never met walked over and said, "Oh, you went to Tita's. I recognized their lumpia." That gave me chills because I knew I had chosen the right place. The food tasted like it came straight from Mamasan's kitchen, authentic, comforting, and made with love. Staff members kept stopping by to thank us, and my only conidition, "Make a plate for the receptionist. He's awesome too." That is what great food does. It creates connection. It seems that whenever I get called to Chula Vista, National City or Mira Mesa, there's always a lola waiting for me with a broken PC and a plate of pancit or a freshly-fried stack of turon. Years ago, knowing that those friendly, insistent ladies will offer to feed me, no matter the time of day, I started scheduling appointments to their houses at lunchtime, because, well, it's just bad manners to say "no, thanks, I already ate." On my own, I learned to love kare-kare and the popular Pinoy variants of pork. I still crave the Rellenong Alimango (stuffed crab) I had, years ago, at a Filipino food stall in Singapore. After the bars close, I'll often hunt down a plate of sisig. And I'll follow any such meal with something sweet, like hopia, halo-halo, or anything ube. But I'm also a big fan of Filipino breakfast, and that's where Zarlito's comes in. I've never eaten there after 10 am, and while I'm sure I'm missing a lot of good stuff, I've been happy with the breakfasts I've been served, not least because the ladies running the place are kind, always seeming tickled to see a large white man enthusiastically chomping through plates of their food. I hustled home, grabbed my credit card and high-tailed it back! Since it was still morning I only limited myself to just one food order. I was seriously debating between the pork lumpia and Malasadas. Savory always wins! Ordering and paying was easy peazy lemony squeezey. They are rolled and fried fresh when you order them so I didn't mind the wait at all. He gave me a beeper and told me to wait 5 minutes. $15 dollars for 6 long lumpias. On the menu they are described as jumbo, but the are long not wide. I popped into the coffee shop because they had a feature baker pop-up. I sat down only a few minutes and the beeper buzzed. These pipping hot golden deliciousness was handed to me with the box opened for optimum crispness. They smelled so good but I had discipline to wait until I got home and not burn my mouth. The lumpia were sprinkled with Microgreens and showered in fried garlic which was a very nice touch to elevate the lumpia experience. They were served with the classic sweet chili sauce, a generous amount too. I only needed half and I dipped before every bite. They were more reminiscent of long cigars than the lumpia I'm used to, but very yummy! I'll have to try the chicken adobo next time.
