Hubby and I were literally blown away by the richness, savory, thickness and flavorful stew. Kare Kare is my all time fav Filipino dish, and THIS has been the best I've ever eaten. Guys, please order this, you will not regret it. The lechon is such a unique touch to this Filipino classic. Never had it crispy, honestly it exceded our expectation. And def will be on rotation. We also got the Tortasilog, and man...the smokiness and flavors, just delicious. Another all time fav. The flavors just hit. The sisig fries were good, a San Diego spin on one of my fav ulam's. Flavorful but a bit too vinegary for my taste. But if you're into that, you must try it. Jax Chibugan has become our go to Filipino spot that's beyond the usual "point-point"/"turo-turo" set up. You order at the front and they'll bring the food to your table. So it's casual and still comfortable. The decorations are also super cute with the "tindahan" setup at the front. It really adds to the vibe. Now the food... the food is amazing. Everything we've tried so far has been delicious. We try to get something new every visit but one thing we alwaaaysss have is pansit and either go to or mami. Honestly, this place gives the most authentic Philippines vibe here in San Diego. Eating here genuinely makes me feel like I'm back home in the Philippines. The workers are kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. They speak Filipino and don't try to overly Americanize the experience, which makes it feel even more authentic. They have Filipino music playing and Karaoke, definitely feels like home. Plenty of seating and overall the place was clean. Parking isn't an issue. There's plenty throughout that whole plaza and it doesn't get extremely busy there. Service was fine. I had no issue cause I didn't interact with them that much. We ordered at the counter before we sat down. The cashier was nice, kept convo to a minimum, nothing rude or bad. Workers were all doing their job so nothing really to complain about. Food was okay but when it comes to this style of Filipino food, there's other spots in National City that I can think of and be more satisfied, plus this was more on the pricey end. First drinks, my husband had the calamansi juice and that was fine. But my sago was extremely sweet. I was hoping to be reminded of my grandma's sago but highkey it was unbearingly sweet. The pork bun was okay. But it was hard to eat cause it was too saucy that it was messy. My husband's tocilog was fine but he wasn't over the moon about it. But my Tapsilog was kinda disappointing. Ordered our usual food on the counter: Crispy Pork Kare Kare, Isdalog (fried milk fish, fried egg over rice) and tortang talong. The food tasted so good. The Tortang talong has that smoky taste from being grilled, peeled and fried in egg. The milkfish was perfectly seasoned. My Husband loves kare kare and he gave it a big thumbs up! In fairness, the ambuance gives you a nostalgia of being in the philippines with the typical street sari-sari store (convenient store). Love the concept. The food is good!! It's been a loooong time that I have not eaten "tinapa" (smoked milkfish). It satisfied my cravings. Their kare kare is good too... but it will be best if it's ox tail. Several tables had dirty dishes and was surprised they were still sitting on tables making it hard for other customers to find a place to sit. Perhaps patrons could clear off their own tables? Smething new and different in the area. Looking for something to try and we discovered this place in the area. Entering this place tucked away in a strip mall in National City you will notice a mock up of the familiar "Sari Sari Store" (A neighborhood convenience store usually in front of somones's in house in the Philippines). You place your order amd pay for your food at the counter and your order is delivered to your table. We ordered the lechon kawali, some soup and another dush I forgot the name. We finally found a spot in SD that does amazing silogs. Their lechon kawali is something we see ourselves being repeat customers of. The garlic rice was also delicious! Always a great time here! Went to San Diego over the weekend and we decided to come here. They have so much selections in their menu I ended up ordering 2 different plates and I didn't regret doing so because all of their food was good, it was delicious! A new Filipino place to try with my mom. There's plenty of parking when we arrived around 11 AM on a Sunday. Walking in, the place was pretty busy. Food is ordered at the counter and they deliver to your table. We ordered the beef mami for my mom and Tapsilog for me. The mami was delicious. Beef was very tender and very tasty. The noodles tasted very good, too. Tasted like they cooked the noodles in the beef broth. The tapsilog was also very good. Beef tapa was very tender and not salty. This place is truly a hidden gem we stumbled upon. Hidden in a strip mall, they serve some of the most delicious Filipino food in San Diego. It's a cute little eatery with a decent amount of seating. There is a little market corner of snacks which I didn't check out today but probably will next time. I had their tocino silog while my husband had the tapsilog (beef) - both were done perfectly and the egg was the perfect consistency of runny. I would just like for my lechon to be a tad bit crispier. Daingsilog: 7.5/10 - the daing is smoked Bangus fish. Bangus is my fave and this was ok. Lacked a lot of the smokiness and vinegar flavor I'm used to. This plate did the job! Chicken lumpia: 9/10 - bomb! More modern take on lumpia. Soft, crunchy, yumminess. My toddler went to town on these. Service was standard. No one terrible. Nothing exceptional. Clean facilities (didn't check the bathroom) and plenty of space inside. If you're looking for a Filipino breakfast spot with longaisa, this is it. Came here tonight with my son and discovered this gem in National City. We got the longsilog and shumai to share. The price point for the longsilog was perfect as was the portions. This longanisa is different from the typical fatty kind. This is made in house without preservatives and more lean without the extra fats. This kind is also a little sweet so if you like that sweet/salty flavor, this is it. The garlic rice was also perfect with the right amount of garlic. Eggs were made over hard but I'm sure you can ask for over easy if you like it running. This dish was so good I even ordered one togo to eat tomorrow. I also got the Tocino so I'll update this later when I try it. The shumai was salty for me so I probably wont order that again. The owner is super sweet and I shared my feedback with her on the spot cause it was delicious and my son also finished his longanisa bowl. Sisilog (pork belly+egg+garlic rice [$9.99]): the rice was tasty with the right amount of oil, and they've nailed the garlic flavor. The pork was flavorful, but it had tons of fat on half of the portion. Also, it was not saucy as I am used to with sisig, but it is still decent, 7.5/10. The service was a bit slow, as they cooked to order, but it was worth the wait. I will have to dine in next time to enjoy it all freshly made.
