I recently came here with some friends for breakfast and we ordered these Items: - Torta Talong (Whole Roasted Eggplant dipped in Egg and Fried - yummy) - Tocilog (Pork Tocino - Little too oily) - Adobosilog (Pork Adobo) - Arroz Caldo (Garlicky Rice and Chicken Porridge - I always crave this) - Pork Lumpia - Shrimp and Veggie Lumpia All of it was delicious except the Shrimp and Veggie Lumpia, which had no shrimp in it :( All the breakfast items (except the Arroz Caldo) come with 2 scoops of garlic rice, 2 eggs, slice of cucumber or tomato. I was really looking forward to eating at Jax Chibugan, but my experience wasn't great. We waited 55 minutes for our food, even though there were only about six tables with customers. It wasn't even busy, and you could tell everyone was getting frustrated waiting. It was also really hot inside, so sitting there for almost an hour made it even more uncomfortable. Jax Chibugan has become our go to Filipino spot that's beyond the usual "point-point"/"turo-turo" set up. You order at the front and they'll bring the food to your table. So it's casual and still comfortable. The decorations are also super cute with the "tindahan" setup at the front. It really adds to the vibe. Now the food... the food is amazing. Everything we've tried so far has been delicious. We try to get something new every visit but one thing we alwaaaysss have is pansit and either go to or mami. First walked in and there's a lot of merchandise to the left that you can purchase and some snacks. In the middle is register with many things around it and the menu above. Place is very clean and they provide cups for water. Got here at 9 o'clock in the morning and people were already singing karaoke. When ordering the lady upfront was really nice but very quiet. First drinks, my husband had the calamansi juice and that was fine. But my sago was extremely sweet. I was hoping to be reminded of my grandma's sago but highkey it was unbearingly sweet. My go to dish here is the crispy pork Kare Kare with extra bagoong! So good! Only downside is sometimes the rice can be a little on the dry side. (Not in this case) but over the Kare Kare is definitely my favorite. Or the tapsilog with extra vinegar of course. read more

Entering this place tucked away in a strip mall in National City you will notice a mock up of the familiar "Sari Sari Store" (A neighborhood convenience store usually in front of somones's in house in the Philippines). First and foremost, I came in today to buy some halo-halo. There was no one at the register, but I clearly saw an employee wearing an apron. Instead of acknowledging me or simply saying, "We'll be with you shortly," he just stood there staring at me with a rude attitude, making me feel like he assumed I was going to eat without paying. Food is ordered at the counter and they deliver to your table. We ordered the beef mami for my mom and Tapsilog for me. The mami was delicious. Beef was very tender and very tasty. This place is truly a hidden gem we stumbled upon. Hidden in a strip mall, they serve some of the most delicious Filipino food in San Diego. It's a cute little eatery with a decent amount of seating. There is a little market corner of snacks which I didn't check out today but probably will next time.
