We then took a look at other flooring options in the store, since we need to replace an aging laminate floor in our home; Ann gave us some great advice and options to think about, including engineered wood planks as well as traditional hardwood.

He also gracefully handled many unexpected challenges such as manufacturer defects which required a large delayed re-shipment. He stepped up to help us over the hurdle, taking delivery into his own hands to take some time off the schedule. He even helped calm a neighbor who had been upset about unrelated aspects of our general construction project. I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

So I asked if he could please call the vendor and he said yes but whatever the price was, expect it to increase. Why have items on display that you don't want to sell? Why be a salesperson if you don't like helping people? They won't be getting my business.

Very bad experience…read more Floortex sent a very unprofessional installer who did a poor job and took a very long time. The Floortex salesman refused to correct the poor installation, and complained loudly and rudely that he was losing money on the deal. He offered to rip out the carpet and let me forfeit my deposit as his only remedy. The carpet was not set flush against the walls, and the pattern did not match where the seams were sewn together. The installer, who was in very poor health, took over twelve hours to complete a very small bedroom and short hallway. Now I'm stuck with expensive, poorly installed carpet and an an angry carpet salesman.

At a time when both materials were often out of stock, Floortex Design, and especially Rouben Kembikian, did an incredible job. Ruben made helpful suggestions as far as what to choose, especially the right type of carpet padding. He made several phone calls to find the cork flooring I wanted, and even ordered samples that I could take home. Then, he personally oversaw the installation. Everything fell into place perfectly.
