We had to try this place since cheesesteaks are one of our loves. This is a mom and pop shop with amazing service and good food. It was so packed inside, almost every table was filled! We sat outside since the weather was great. I got the 12" cheesesteak with provolone no onions please, with a side of fries, and a Dr. Pepper. The soda fountain must have been set up right, one of the best, sizzling, nose burning, bubbly sodas EVER. Ok, back the cheesesteak with provolone. It was GOOD beef flavor, melty cheese, and some mayo and BOOM.

A bit pricey for the quality and size of the sandwich. We went the morning of the Super Bowl so the wait was far longer than it probably normally is but was still very long. They prioritized phone orders to people waiting in the restaurant. The sandwich needed way more cheese because the meat wasn't very coated. Not a bad sandwich by any means, just not sure I'd visit regularly.

This place was amazing. Very clean and inviting. Not only was the food perfect but the woman working was lovely and the customer service was top notch. My husband had a cheesesteak with wiz that melted in your mouth and I had the tuna, which was real albacore (not a mix). Both were great and we can't wait to return and try new menu items.

Came here for the first time for the cars and cheesesteak show. What better than the 2 together!? It was a good turnout of people. This place is a cute mom and pop spot. The cashier helped me with recommendations, she was super sweet! I got the 12in cheesesteak meal with fries and a drink. It was delicious! Cheesesteak was perfect and fries were nice and crispy. I saw on their menu they even offered banh mi, which is a Vietnamese sandwich which I plan on trying on my next visit.

A great cheesesteak, good French fries and a nicely appointed Philadelphia-themed restaurant make for a great lunch. This is a small, mostly takeout spot. The woman behind the counter is super friendly, and her family own and operate the place. Definitely recommend. Great experience.

I have been looking for a GOOD Philly cheesesteak and I am happy to say, I have finally found one! So much so we have been back since we first went last week. I first wanted to address some of the concerns from other reviewers about "it went downhill" or "not liking the new owners". If the cheesesteak I had was "downhill" I'm not sure what uphill would I've been because this thing was GOOD. The meat was savory and delish. The cheese whiz. The onions. I mean, my mouth is watering now thinking about it. I also love that I can choose what cheese. White American, whiz, provolone, cheddar... but always stick with the classics kids. Also, the man I interacted with on both occasions was the most delightful human. Very kind, patient, informative, and remembered me a week later. We have had an OG cheesesteak, the Korean cheesesteak (which was delish), the Shazam, and the Banh Mi cold sandwich. Everything was great and it's our go to from now on. I would 100% recommend trying it!

Phila Deli is a small cheesesteak sandwich shop. You can dine inside at a few tables or outside at a few tables. Recently the ownership has changed and there are some new changes to the menu. Today the cheesesteak seemed the same as before. It's a good cheesesteak but I'm from Philadelphia so I expect cherry peppers and Philadelphia style bread. But still its a good sandwich. We tried the two Summer Specials The Albacore Tuna Hoagie and the Bulgogi fries. Both were VERY GOOD! The Tuna hoagie was very flavorful and delicious. I didn't mind it on that bread. I also really liked the bulgogi Fries. We got ours without the cheese and they were so tasty and the meat was very moist.....I think anyone would like them.....Maybe in the future they can add a bulgogi steak sandwich to the menu? I think it could be a hit! The old owners were very nice.......and we do miss them. And the new owners also seem nice so that is a win. The new additions to the menu really are very good! We wish the new owners best wishes!

Most of these reviews are from before the original owners, who were from Philadelphia, sold the place to Asian owners. The new owner has kept all the original Philadelphia artifacts, but has no connection to the city of Brotherly love. He doesn't use rolls from Philly, claims he uses ribeye, took a two week class on how to cook cheesesteaks and had added several Korean dishes to the menu. He has kept most of the original menu in order to fool previous customers that the food they are eating is being made by a guy from Philly. In my opinion, this is a classic example of a bait and switch situation. He has also accused me of being racist because I pointed out he was Asian or a variation of Asian. The definition of authentic can be twisted in many ways, but being from Philly and making a cheesesteak at least gives the feeling of being authentic. This situation is just fradulant, but wait the food could actually be good anyway right? Read original "racist" review below. Have never been here, but not sure how much things changed since the Korean owners took over. There are several Korean things on the menu. I just went for the traditional cheesesteak with white American cheese, which was almost $14 for a small and only onions are included. They claim they use ribeye. Nothing really special about the cheesesteak except it was a bit salty and didn't have alot of onions.. It didn't do much for me, but if you had a craving, this could help one time perhaps, if you want to pay $15 for a basic sandwich.

A few weeks ago, we were back on the east coast visiting family. Hubby's family loves to get cheesesteaks on the Jersey Shore. We had them from two different places and were disappointed. They skimped on the meat and just really lacked flavor. Back in AZ, hubby was craving a cheesesteak, so I told him to do some research. He was checking Yelp and I told him to look for a place run by someone from Philly or look for reviews from people who used to live there. Anyone can make a steak & cheese sub, but there's something special about Philly cheesesteaks. He found Phila-Deli and between the reviews and the ownership, we decided this was the place we'd go. I'll say it right now - we'll be going back! Hubby got a regular cheesesteak and I decided on the one with sauce. First, there was no skimping on the meat. And it was flavorful. The veggies were a nice undertone, letting the meat shine. And the cheese and sauce blended so well. I was impressed that I wasn't getting a heavy tomato flavor but instead it enhanced the cheese flavor. And the roll was exactly what a cheesesteak roll should be. It was perfectly soft and cradled the filling beautifully. They are located just off the 101 at 59th Ave - not exactly in my neighborhood, but worth the drive. There's a small seating area inside, and black & white Philly photos adorn the walls. The owner is definitely from the Philly area and we had a nice chat with him. Very friendly and takes pride in his business.

This is a hidden gem!! Holy good cheesesteak! Everything is made to order, so they accommodate anything!! Rolls are soft, good seasoning on meat, good cheese pull, and they recommend adding marinara -- this was a first for me but I would do it again in a heart beat! Fries are crisp and delicious! Overall great lunch!! Can't wait to come back again!

Slow, slow service. I arrived about 10 minutes after 11 on a weekday & there was one guy ahead of me who already had ordered (one sandwich & fries). I ordered one sandwich & it took at least 15 minutes or more. The lady who came in right behind me had called in an order & she was still waiting when I left. The lady taking orders was nice but seemed unfamiliar with how to ring up an order. The hot veggie sandwich I ordered was wrapped well so that it was still pretty hot when I arrived at home. It was ok but apparently, I'm not a big fan of this type of sandwich, so I don't plan on going again. read more

Recently moved back to AZ, and was wanting a sandwich, whether it come from a deli, was Philly, or just a sub from a local spot. Went to fill my refillable water for my home and saw this place tucked away across the street. Lemme tell you, I wish it was exposed more because they deserve attention. Because...oh my damn! First trip, I went with my brother a couple weeks back. We both snagged the 12" Southwest with Chicken and saw they offered BULBOLGI FRIES, so we had to. The Southwest was so flavorful and offered a fair amount of peppers, onions, chicken and cheese. Ugh, just the right amount of heat, it was so balanced. The Bulgolgi Fries were AMAZING! I will warn ya, the flavors are rich, but it didn't stop us from sharing a Large. The staff when we ordered was super nice and welcoming. They do have a few seating spots inside and I loved their music Playlist they had. Decided to go back today, but just get pickup. Went with the Southwest with Rib-Eye and AGAIN it hit the spot. I would say, the one thing I wouldn't mind is having the bread be a little crispy. This is just a personal preference but I'm sure if I asked they would kindly oblige. It's a solid cheesesteak. I went with the basic large cheesesteak with grilled onions. It came in around $16 w/ tip. The bread was really tasty. Like good enough where I want to find out where they get their loafs. Steak was perfectly seasoned. It came in probably just under 1 lb. So it was enough for a couple meals. No complaints at all. read more

Subtle look from the outside, but not subtle flavors. Delicious! Very clean and well decorated inside. The food was amazing. Accidentally came across this place looking for just a plain ol turkey sub for my son. Was pleasantly surprised to see they had cheesesteaks so I snagged one for myself. It was amazing! Great fluffy bread, and super flavorful stuffing of meat, peppers, cheese and sauce. I would recommend this to everyone! Don't skip the fries, you need them! Perfectly seasoned, with the right about of crispy and soft.They are so so good! Price is great for the amount of food and quality you get. Great customer service on top of everything else. My Wife and I are visiting from Florida. The family we are staying with suggested cheesesteaks as a dinner idea. Initially, we hesitated because they knew nothing of the establishment, then decided to go for it. Wife and I had the Southwest Cheesesteak and family had the regulars and fries. OMGOODNESS!! We went in like a year ago. They have some craft sodas to go with your Philly which are tasty compared to other offerings in the valley. Honestly though, besides the food being good and the counter person nice - the thing that stood out was the dude who came in for takeout in flip flops, shorts, a members only style jacket, and a keychain in his hand...all emblazoned with that famous red and yellow rearing stallion logo. We laughed quietly at him until he left and fired up his new F40 or whatever it was. It was blue. Kudos to you man. The well dressed couple that were the only others to enter besides him kept eyeing our bottled craft sodas and saying how did they get beer? I didnt see it on the menu... read more

I was out running errands and had heard such great things about this sandwich shop. Decided to stop in and see if the rumors were true. They were. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Seriously, do yourself a favor and go try it. Phila-Deli is hands down the best Philly shop I have eaten at in AZ! And that's coming from the pickiest eater in AZ as well! The owners were so nice, they came out and made sure everything was how we wanted and that we didn't need anything. They even cleaned our table for us! Go check this place out! First time in. We enjoyed the Chicken Philly with chicken, provolone and onions. Also a plain steak with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. Excellent quality ingredients. Meat is high quality. The mushrooms and other vegetables are fresh. Great flavor. Generous portions. Immaculate and clean restaurant. You have to stop in and enjoy Phila Deli. read more

Family owned? Meaty sandwiches? Cheese whiz? Flavorful onions and peppers? We ordered the Philly cheesesteak special, no marinara. The sandwiches are amazing. The meats are well seasoned and plentiful. The whiz is gooey and delicious. Pepperoni in a Philly cheesesteak is a stroke of genius. I do have one complaint. The bread did not hold up. The bread was soft and by the time I got the sandwiches home, my sandwich was not hand friendly. However, when I complained about it, my husband responded with: "I have never in my life ordered a Philly cheesesteak and expected that f***** to be a clean eat" Fair. Great point. They also mentioned they were looking into getting a crustier bread that will hold up better. I look forward to coming back and trying it with marinara and the new bread. read more

Pretty decent little restaurant. We have gone there a few times and get yourself a Philly cheesesteak. They have a lot of different options. It seem to be going more towards Korean options which I find a little bit baffling but I don't go a lot anymore cause I'm not really sure what they're trying to do. read more

The small Philly is 8" of meat and cheese whiz filled bliss. Plenty of food, very "Philling" (hah!), bread was soft and fresh. Definitely worth coming in and trying out. Love that it is a small family owned place. I'd say my only small critique, would be the lack of music in the dining area. Makes the whole experience just a tad awkward. But...owners were nice, place was CLEAN, food was great. I hope they thrive. Side note- they DO have vegetarian options, they just aren't on the menu as very few Cheese Steak customers are looking for vegetarian options. But if you ask, they have those offerings. read more

Phila Deli Address: 20219 N 59th Ave ste a-3, Glendale, AZ 85308 Phone: (623) 376-9333 Went to Phila Deli to buy Cheese steak Sandwiches during the week at ~12:00pm. I grew up near Philadelphia, PA and have had many cheese steaks there. I went to Phila Deli because it was highly rated on yelp. There were no other customers the 25 minutes I was there. (Red Flag) The girl behind the register was very pleasant and welcoming. I ordered 1 Lg Cheese steak, and 1 Lg Bacon Mushroom Cheese steak to go. I took the sandwiches home, 5 minutes away, and checked them out. I was very disappointed in the sandwiches. They used very greasy steak-um instead of the shaved Ribeye they claim to use. When getting a Cheese steak you should never be able to completely close the role. The steak should be the star of the sandwich. There was barely any steak in the role. The steak was not seasoned properly and tasted really greasy and bland. I could not even taste the cheese. The role was very soggy. Even though it was toasted it absorbed a ton of grease. The Bacon Mushroom Cheese steak was very similar. Not much meat, really greasy, and soggy with no taste. Additionally, there was almost no mushrooms and they used bacon bits instead of real bacon. I could not only see the store bought Bacon bits, they were also crunching in my mouth when taking a bite of the sandwich. This place should be very ashamed in representing Philadelphia the way it does. These steak sandwiches are an embarrassment. There is no way the Yelp ratings are correct for this restaurant. I recommend going to Jersey Mikes for authentic Philadelphia style Cheese steaks. read more

We just took over and want to continue the legacy of the authentic flavors of Philadelphia in Arizona. A husband and wife team whose dream has come true to own our place in our humble community here in Glendale, AZ. We were kind of worried it might be too salty with the cheese, but it was actually really balanced and super tasty. It's a solid spot for a quick, satisfying meal.

Phila Deli AZ is an absolute gem of a place! it has become my go-to spot for a quick bite. Great customer service and inviting atmosphere. The portions are great for the price & it's definitely worth supporting a small business!! (Not sure why there's negative reviews simply for the price...it's called taxes & inflation..) The cheesesteaks have perfectly grilled steak that's tender and flavorful. You can totally tell the cooks are passionate about their work! I recommend the Cheeseburger. They also offer a variety of cold and hot subs on Italian hoagie rolls. My favorite is the American Club. Comes with bacon!! I also tried one of their cheesecakes, that are made in the store. Next time I'll have to grab a homemade Ghirardelli chocolate Cookie or muffin... They also offer a nice selection of specialty bottled drinks that are hard to find elsewhere.
