I've been amazed by businesses that exist with the community in mind. I don't recall ever eating at a Firehouse Subs anywhere. So for my first time, I checked out this place which I have passed by for what seems to be like a million times. I was blown away. The food with a heart...better yet THE SUB with heart of gold. The ambiance and decor out of this world. The murals on the wall very appropriate for all the sacrifices these firemen and firewomen call their jobs which really is their calling. The service is incomparable. You are doing a good deed everytime you order one of their specialty subs...make it a combo please. Did I tell you that they have authentic southern tea. Unpleasant experience at the Firehouse Subs on 67th Ave & the 101 in Glendale, AZ. We attempted to pick up an online order at 8:30 pm, but the app showed the pickup time as the next day. We politely asked if it could be adjusted since we were present, but the employees--who identified themselves as managers--refused to help. They were rude and disrespectful, and one manager raised her voice and spoke to us very disrespectfully. The restroom and tables were also dirty. We then drove to the Anthem Firehouse Subs, where the experience was the complete opposite. Despite being close to closing, the staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. They immediately fixed our order so it could be picked up right away instead of the next day. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. We highly recommend the Anthem location and strongly suggest avoiding the 67th Ave & 101 Glendale location. read more

I was in the neighborhood so stopped by to grab lunch. I ordered the roast beef and cheddar, whole sub which came out to be close to $17. The meat was good but the bread didn't taste fresh like they normally do. The Mayo wasn't enough on there so made sandwich tasted dry. The manager who was wearing a name tag that said Rob, was rude and impatient with this gentleman. He go angry, and when trying to help him ended up ordering for the man at A DIFFERENT LOCATION. The man had to leave with no food, and I felt as if he wasn't even given the dignity a grown man deserves. Not having a Firehouse close to us, we enjoy visiting locations when we can find them on our travels. We stopped by this location to grab two sandwiches for dinner. We should have known something was up when we came in at dinner time to find the inside of the shop completely empty of customers. The young lady at the counter was polite, but not very helpful. Not sure where the communication breakdown was, but the sandwiches we received were not what we ordered. Unfortunately, we didn't notice until we got back to our hotel. One sandwich was supposed to be a cold sandwich with very light mayo. What we opened was a hot and gooey mess. Not only was it hot instead of cold, there was so much mayo on it that the bread was too soggy to hold the sandwich, it just fell apart when we picked it up. The other sandwich had condiments on it that we stated we did not want for allergy reasons. Since they have a high counter, customers can't see how the sandwiches are being made, unlike Subway, Togos, and Jersey Mike's, so corrections can't be caught while the sandwich is being made. My work did a lunch order today. Everyone's half sized or larger subs were fine. The smallest sub , mine, an engineer was beyond disappointing. NO MEAT, NO CHEESE, NO MUSHROOMS (extra mushrooms had been on the order request!!). I thought ordering extra mushrooms would bypass the trend of invisible mushrooms (yes, many times, many differnt locations, always the engineer and i never get my mushrooms). Didn't think it would make the disappearing act grow! So when I call and want it both my engineer made right and a refund on just that one sub (because now I'm having to spend the equivalent cost in gas vs my small engineer sandwich to drive back in my personal vehicle), I get told nah it's either a refund of the sub or a free one on my next visit. We had a all day meeting last weekend and decided to order in subs for lunch. Luckily Firehouse works with Doordash so we were able to get out food delivered since we couldn't really leave. Each person was able to order and customize their sub and sides how they wanted. There were a good amount of options, but the price was up there. I ordered a medium Turkey Bacon Ranch sub and a bag of chips and my meal ran about $14. Compared to other places this was pricey. (Someone in our group loves firehouse which is why we went with them.) One nice thing was the subs do come in their own container, instead of just in a wrapper, so maybe that is part of the increased cost. As for taste, the sub was good, but it had too much of the ranch on it and it was pretty soggy by the time it was delivered. Maybe if it was eaten at the restaurant then it would have been better. As it was, I was not able to eat a good portion of the bread due to being so soggy. I may give firehouse another try in the future, we shall see. read more

At 12:35 I went to counter to ask about it because all 20+ customers that arrived after had gotten their orders, and was greeted with significant hostility. Pick up was fast and efficient. They have a dedicated area for call in/online orders which is nice. I ordered a Large SmokeHouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. It sounded like the best sandwich they had. They claim to smoke their brisket for 16 hours. The "large" is probably 12-14 inches long. The subs are really skinny though. I mowed down the whole thing and was not stuffed to the gills. Pretty much $11.00 for a sandwich. A little steep IMO. Good but far from great. Brisket was tasty enough, the cheddar was not really noticeable, the BBQ sauce was good (Sweet Baby Rays) and the bread was just ok. My wife loves the beef, so anything with roast beef is her favorite and it never disappoints. Such a cool spot! I know it's a chain restaurant, but a difficult work week after the long holiday weekend meant I was anxious to try a new sandwich after work this evening. [insert fire engine siren sound effect here] * weeeeee-oooooo weeeeee-ooooooooooooooooooo* That was me making the sound effect with my mouth. This location is in a super-duper convenient location right off the 101 & 67th. Depending upon what way you're coming down the 101, you hang a right (or left) on 67th, take your next left into the parking lot and voila! Your destination will be straight ahead of you. As I mentioned, super convenient, tons of ample, wide-space parking stalls and plenty of places to park out in the boon docks if you loathe door-dings like I do. First impression... the employees seem to genuinely care about this place and the work they do. It's not often I can say that (or have ever said that about an employee at a restaurant chain) but it's obvious at Fire House Subs. The restaurant is quaint, but insanely clean. There was not even so much as a crumb on any of the empty tables. My sneakers didn't stick to the floor next to the soda fountain machine and napkin holders were at each individual table. SCORE! I spent a minute or two browsing the menu when I spotted "Ruben! Limited time only!" So I read the description more closely... blah blah blah loads of cheese.... blah blah hot fresh meat... blah blah crispy cole slaw... pickle spear. SOLD! I will take your new limited edition Ruben, please. The sandwiches come in small (4"), medium (8") or gluttonous (12") I opted for the medium because portion control is important. The sandwich was $7 and some change and I opted for a medium drink, as well. I was out the door for $9 and some odd cents which seemed like a fair deal to me. Not as inexpensive as Subway, but not nearly as good either. Enough of those shenanigans, let's chat about this sandwich, shall we? I opted for the Ruben Re-Invented by Fire House Subs on wheat bread. Their version of this re-invented deli classic is piled with fresh USDA Choice pastrami coupled with a hefty serving of Swiss cheese. On top of the pastrami is their tangy cole slaw in Thousand Island dressing. It sounds like a weird combination. It isn't. Trust me. The crispiness and freshness of the slaw coupled with the hot pastrami and melted Swiss made my taste buds insanely happy. I was going to do the happy dance at my table by my lonesome, but that would have made me look weirder than I'm afraid I already am. So I sat down and opted to forego the happy dance. I don't care for mayonnaise so I passed on that. My sandwich was delicious. And the bread? ....so fresh! No joke. In addition to the sandwich, there is a delicious kosher dill pickle spear which was crunchy and as awesome as the sandwich. But Scott, it's just a pickle! ...don't judge me. Please. I'm allowed to like what I like and it was a darn good pickle! The soda out of the soda fountain was ice cold, bubbly and well caffeinated just like I like it. The service was awesome. Stopped by and ordered the medium Steak and Cheese on wheat bread. The best part of the sub was the bread. The meat was not seasoned at all and some looked not fully cooked. The service was slow even though I was the only who had ordered. The person making the sub had a full conversation with a coworker about him going home and her holding the almost cooked meat in a paper wrapper. She was also talking over the food and when I asked about order she said "I have it right here", holding the paper up to show me. Needless to say I did not enjoy this sub. Will not return. read more
