    First time here

I'm eating here a lot now, I do enjoy the food here. It's really good and the ladies are super nice. The price is not bad for the food they give you. A lot of selections.

If your looking for lumpia or veggie egg rolls they have it $7 for 12 lumpia Very crowded at 1:30 on a Saturday

There was a very large selection of Filipino foods, so everyone in my family was able to order something they were looking for. It was a little bland, but we still left satisfied. The line goes by pretty fast as well, depending on how many are helping out at the front. It is also very clean and the seating area is spacious.

Wide selection of delicious filipino food

Wide selection of Filipino food. Very friendly staff with adequate seating to eat. Convenient location to do grocery after you're done eating. Their kalderetang kambing is highly recommended New added food in the menu is the authentic chicharon which my kids like. One stop shop for basic needs with a bakery adjacent to it. My go to place whenever i need food for work. Saves me time and effort for meal prep.

Asked for chicken bbq, got a mix of chicken and pork

Customer service is really bad! The lines are ridiculous. And when you call to place an order for catering no one answers

The grill was as big as it could be, for the size of the restaurant. But I could imagine when its busy it would take a while to get space on the grill. Luckily when I went this weekend, it wasn't busy and we had a lot of grill space to cook our food quickly. Was impressed by the chicken isaw! It wasn't bitter so you know it was clean. Also, I liked the longanisa! The sweetness was good with the suka. I got the cantaloupe juice, it was good but didn't have any shredded cantaloupe. Would come back though, maybe on a night where they have a DJ. Vibes!

Bruh, I was going to comment that the hours are silly on this Yelp page, went to go double check…read moretheir Google page and apparently it's permanently closed? I'm gonna check with my NorCal moots about this but sucks if that's true. I was going to comment on how this is one of few bastions of affordable, slightly more unique food in the bay area, but I guess that's not the case. I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. They have all the classics here, isaw (sometimes Dollar Hits doesn't have this unless you request -it's chicken intestines), large intestines, chicken skin, kwek kwek (battered quail eggs), and Tender Juicy bright red filipino hot dogs (a must). You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). It gets a bit smoky in there even with the fans, but overall had an enjoyable time the time when I did visit.

We've honestly never had a bad meal here, everything we've ordered has been delicious. My absolute favorites are the Adobong Pusit and the Sisig, and the Lechon Kawali is another must-try. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend starting with those dishes. One thing we also love is that there's always something happening. On Thursdays and Fridays they serve Filipino street food outside, and on weekends they offer buffets and often have live music, making every visit feel like a little celebration. We've been to all three Isla locations, but the Newark restaurant is still our favorite because it's the closest to us. If you're looking for authentic Filipino food, a welcoming atmosphere, and consistently delicious meals, Isla Restaurant is a place you'll want to visit again and again.

A table was prepared for us to set the setting before a cart full of food arrived and spread on the banana leaves. All the titos and titas agree - the best dish was the sisg which is not included in the boodle fight. The fried squid is an honorable mention. All other options I found to be rather mediocre and not worth getting again. Perhaps they were short-staffed when we arrived but it was hard to find a server to request anything. They were all in the back and only came out to bring out the food. We waited too long to ask for containers or the check. 20% gratuity was automatically applied and the total came out to almost $500. The meal wouldn't have been very enjoyable if not for the company so I don't think this was worth it. I may consider coming back just for the sisig.

My husband's go to is lechon kawali. Perfectly deep fried pork served with the classic Filipino "all purpose sauce". I usually steal one or two pieces off his plate but the serving is a healthy size I could never finish one by myself. My personal fave is beef sinigang. There's a a generous amount of meat and it's always so tender. I would love if they made it a little more sour but that's my personal preference. The protein might be different depending on the day but they've all been good. The place is tiny, maybe like 10 chairs so you might have to wait at prime times. Service is friendly. A couple times they've told me to pick up to go orders at a certain time but I had to wait an additional 15-20min after arriving but not too big of a deal.
