Cool place! The barbeque was good, similar to my filipino family's bbq at home. Pretty convenient when you want that grilled taste without all the preparation -- I saw groups that just grilled skewers and took them to go. The grill was as big as it could be, for the size of the restaurant. But I could imagine when its busy it would take a while to get space on the grill. Luckily when I went this weekend, it wasn't busy and we had a lot of grill space to cook our food quickly. Was impressed by the chicken isaw! It wasn't bitter so you know it was clean. Also, I liked the longanisa! The sweetness was good with the suka. I got the cantaloupe juice, it was good but didn't have any shredded cantaloupe. I'm gonna check with my NorCal moots about this but sucks if that's true. I was going to comment on how this is one of few bastions of affordable, slightly more unique food in the bay area, but I guess that's not the case. I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. They have all the classics here, isaw (sometimes Dollar Hits doesn't have this unless you request -it's chicken intestines), large intestines, chicken skin, kwek kwek (battered quail eggs), and Tender Juicy bright red filipino hot dogs (a must). You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). Let's start with the food. The food is not great. This place only gets one star for the sisig which in my opinion still needs more acidity. The food on the sticks does not compare at all to other places I've had it especially the Philippines. The fish ball and lobster balls were dry and needing the fish ball sauce which they didn't have. Only sauce I did find that they say was an all around sauce was pretty much a watered down mang Tomas sauce. The bbq stick was rubber and way too sweet. The chicharon bulaklak was also rubber and not crunchy at all. The kikiam was okay. The isaw was not good at all, it lack seasoning. The shumai was dry. I'm not entirely sure what happened with Toto, but Miss G operates the restaurant in much the same way, with a few new additions, such as a karaoke stand and floral decorations on the ceiling. These updates add a charming touch to the restaurant's ambiance, evoking a nostalgic vibe of "street food," "pulutan nights," or however you'd like to describe it. When I first came here, the experience felt exciting and deeply nostalgic. However, the novelty wears off after a few visits. The "grill your own skewers" concept is still enjoyable, but it's really just "reheating" your food, which loses its appeal over time. It would be amazing to have a true "grill your own skewers" experience similar to Korean BBQ restaurants, though I understand that might require a different type of licensing. Imagine a Filipino street food spot where you could actually grill your own skewers--something like a tambayan atmosphere with skewers as the pulutan. Considering the addition of karaoke to the restaurant, this idea feels even more fitting. That was my fantasy when I first heard about the rebranding. Nonetheless, I still recommend this place because their skewers are genuinely delicious. The BBQ pork has that authentic Filipino BBQ flavor, especially when paired with the vinegar sauce. The Manong Sauce for the fish balls is probably my favorite--it elevates the taste of fish balls, squid balls, and other seafood skewers, which are otherwise just okay. When you first enter, you see the bbq grill out in the open, and the skewer is in the back. You have the sauce bar in the back, and then you get the good stuff. The skewers. You have options of beef, chicken, Filipino sausages, intestines of different types, liver, sesame balls, fried shrimp, sui mai. Etc. So there are a variety of meat options. But I didn't see anything offered to vegetarians. They have booths around the walls of the restaurant. And then they have regular seating on the otherside of the grill. I tried the beef intestine, beef skewers, chicken skewers, quail egg and something else. I loved the fried quail egg it was best dipped in the spicy vinegar. Honestly speaking I would recommend to pass on the beef and chicken skewers. It just taste like hawaiian bbq meat but on a skewer. The chicken feet was pretty goof and saucy. I was able to try melon juice and also taho. The Taho is our Asian version of tofu fa. They have a brown sugar syrup ca our ginger syrup. Then they also add tapioca. The Grill By Miss G is an affordable Filipino street food place. BBQ skewers are about $2 a stick and you can pick from a variety of snacks like red hot dog, fish balls, kwek kwek, chicken or pork BBQ, intestines, siomai etc. Everything is pre-cooked but you can re-heat it in their communal grill that's located in the middle of the restaurant. I'm more so there when in the mood for balut. Most the time the balut is good. I was probably disappointed one time when there was no sabaw in my eggs. But of course I still ate them. I have been coming here for awhile now and finally had a chance to review this place. I still visit on weekends. I must say, it's always an exceptional experience! I appreciate the fact that they do try to provide a safe way to get your food. They have a tray and disposable plates and utensils. I'll say the food is average, but it's a unique concept that you can't get many places and is fun. You get a tray at the front and then pick out whatever skewers you want off the buffet and then pay at the register. You pay by the piece, but the prices aren't really shown. You can get rice, soup, and drinks at the register. There isn't really a menu that I saw. You just sort of look behind the counter and see what other people are getting. Then there's a large communal grill in the middle where you grill your food. Everything is already cooked, so you're really just heating food up. The grills were really low so it kind of took a while. The tongs and grill are communal, so if you're skeptical about that this isn't for you. But it seems pretty clean and nice inside. Pork bbq was juicy and tasty. Pig ears were run by and tasty. Pork intestines were a little too funky for my taste, but to each their own. The orange egg thing was pretty good. I was excited to try this place again... Food was dried up, old and cold!!! Came in ordered Tofu Pudding/ Taho, Baluts, Mango drinks, and of course rice + about 25 sticks or so, girl at the cash register can't count nor use a calculator! She almost charged us $200.00 they also raised their price per stick and quality has declined. What was gross was the cash register girl was touching the meats/sticks with her bare hands while we were wearing gloves and she handed us food with her bare hands, she was touching her face and shirt prior to handing us some of our bbq sticks. She proceeded to count our cold bbq sticks with her bare hands as well, no gloves! Gross! They need to improve on proper food handling, so gross!!!! Bet they save unsold bbq sticks for the next day. The food items are not fresh, no veggie options. The grill was dirty and sticky surface. The pork liver was burnt on the outside but raw on the inside, I felt sick once I got home, I think I ate some old meat or could have been the raw inside liver meat.
