Bbq "Specialty" chicken with java rice. (Sizzle plate)

As always the food esp the bbq chicken on the sizzle plate is the best!! My go to!! Service was good. Ambiance is small, mom & pop style restaurant. Very homey, & intimate.

Stopped by Toppings Too in Union City and had a really great experience overall. The restaurant is small and homey inside, which gives it a cozy, welcoming neighborhood feel. It's the kind of place where you can just sit back and enjoy your meal comfortably. The food came out quick, which was a huge plus, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. Definitely a solid 4-star spot for me, great food, fast service, and a warm atmosphere. I'd happily come back again!

My sweet friend took me here and insisted we had a little Filipino feast which was so delicious!!! Their portions here are huge and I love how no frills it is. The staff are so kind and ensured everything came out great. The lechon kawali was my absolute favorite omg I wish I could eat it every day! Soooo tasty, I'll be back to try the rest of the menu.

I used to Frequent Toppings Too a lot in 2013-2017! The same great taste is there. Toppings Too is small and hidden away, but if you know then you knowwww. I used to get their milkfish but this time around I got their sinigang and it's delicious. My friends were really impressed with the food as well! Service is efficient and everyone is so nice. While the spot is small, it's very homey. Def give this place a try!

The tilapia was smaller than usual and the java rice didn't have much flavor. Ambiance was a small indoor dining area and service was alright. Not a lot of choices on the menu either.

Came back here again after attempting to go to the Filipino festival at the best buy this past weekend, which had maybe 1-2 Filipino food stalls. We'd been here before, but I never got around to writing a review until now. Maybe 1 mile from the union landing best buy, this place is small, but the food is pretty good! This time around we ordered the Lechon Kawali, Liang and the grilled toscino rice plate. The Lechon was good, especially since I had a craving, but surprisingly it was my least favorite of the 3, Grilled toscino was good! Sweet and a little smokey on flavor. Really good with the java rice and some pickled carrots. Finally the Liang which is a coconut milk, with taro leaves and small pieces of pork! It reminds me of Hawaiian Lau Lau for those who know what that is. Service here was mediocre unfortunately, but partly I think it was the short staff. It was 1 girl running everywhere by herself and maybe they forgot about us because I felt like I had to constantly wave her down for attention. (My rating reviews do not reflect service ever, unless it's absolutely terrible) I really wished I ordered and had space for the crispy pata! Really good deal for what you get and isnt upcharged grotesquely like Gerry's grill. Whenever we're in the area we will be back again!

One of my fave Filipino joints in the Bay simply because of how unassuming it is while pumping out high quality, delicious food. Parking situation is kinda crappy and the space inside is stuffy and cramped compared to their Toppings Tree location. Also if you need to use the restroom it is outside around a backyard type thing that they share with their neighbor store, a coffee spot. As for the food, our go-tos are the calimari which is super crispy and meaty, the sizzling plate lunchs with java rice and gravy that is incredibly savory (I like to get either bbq chicken or bbq pork chops and they give a big portion size), the bangus (milkfish), the liempo (pork belly) and the tocino (sweet marinated pork). All bangers for this hole in the wall establishment.

Thw location is nice service is good Food wise is ewww nilaga is dry, belly fish is so dry and has an aftertaste and this is our first time here

Came here for the first time with some friends and the food is delicious! Surprised I've never heard of this restaurant, though it's a bit of a hole in the wall tucked behind some cafes. Street parking only. When we arrived, there was a line out the door - definitely a popular place. I grew up around Filipino food and from what I can tell, the food here is legit. Everything was nicely flavored, and I got to try things I haven't had before. The service and decor is nothing special, but the food came out fast and delicious, which is more than enough to satisfy me (especially if I'm hungry). Will definitely come back to try more things.

Small restaurant and we always got it to go and there's always a line! But today we decided to dine in! You can tell it's family owned and we love supporting that. My bf got the two meat con o & I got the shrimp sinigang! Both so good and worth! We had to flag our server down a couple times but that's ok! Give this place a try! Great portions!!

I love toppings. Probably one of the best Filipino spots in the area. Food is really good and portions are large. I get the tocino with Java rice and it's always a hit, the pork is nice and crispy. I normally call and place take out orders but normal takes a couple calls for them to answer lol. The location is very small but cute and the staff is very nice!

I've been going to toppings for a few decades. This was always my favorite out of the chain. It's tiny and always packed, but the service is always good and the food comes out quickly. I have not been here in a few years and wanted to get my kids in to have some good Filipino food. You can't go wrong with the Tosilog and Java rice. Another favor for me is the beef with scrambled eggs and oyster sauce over rice. If you're looking for something hard, and extremely filling in flavorful, they have a New York strip steak with chicken and gravy. That is absolutely amazing. Lumpia is really good as well. My daughter threw a curveball and got the bistek. It wasn't like any that I've had before that was home cooked. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful. The serving was really large and it was enough for two people. My other daughter got the pancit (thin noodle) and we've been eating it and snacking on it for two days now because the serving was so huge. Definitely a great place if you're looking for some really good Filipino food

    Grilled tocino with java rice

Came by and tried the grilled tocino with java rice and the BBQ pork chops sizzling plate. Overall, it was a satisfying Filipino comfort food meal and definitely worth the visit. The grilled tocino was nicely caramelized with that classic sweet and savory flavor that pairs perfectly with the garlicky java rice. The rice itself had a great aroma and wasn't overly greasy, which I appreciated. It also came with eggs on the side that helped balance out the sweetness of the tocino and made the plate feel complete and filling. The BBQ pork chops sizzling plate was the standout for me. It arrived at the table still sizzling, which made it extra appetizing right away. The pork chops were tender, flavorful, and had a nice smoky BBQ taste. Portions were generous and easily shareable if you're ordering multiple dishes for the table. The sauce leaned slightly on the salty side for my taste, but it still complemented the meat well and didn't take away from the overall experience. Service was friendly and attentive, and the staff checked in to make sure everything came out okay. The restaurant itself has a casual, comfortable vibe. Great for a relaxed meal with family or friends when you're craving Filipino classics. A dependable spot in Union City for comforting Filipino favorites, and I'd definitely come back to try more items on their menu next time

I'm gonna check with my NorCal moots about this but sucks if that's true. I was going to comment on how this is one of few bastions of affordable, slightly more unique food in the bay area, but I guess that's not the case. I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. They have all the classics here, isaw (sometimes Dollar Hits doesn't have this unless you request -it's chicken intestines), large intestines, chicken skin, kwek kwek (battered quail eggs), and Tender Juicy bright red filipino hot dogs (a must). You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). It gets a bit smoky in there even with the fans, but overall had an enjoyable time the time when I did visit.

It had been about a year since I last visited, and I was glad to see that prices hadn't changed at all. The highlight here for me has always been their lumpia--or at least, it used to be. It was once fried to golden perfection, with just the right amount of loose wrapper that gave extra-crispy edges (if you know, you know). Looking back at older photos, the lumpia had a noticeably deeper golden-brown hue compared to the lighter version I received this time, as well as seemed a bit longer in size. This made me sad; but it was still good, just no longer exceptional. In addition, the broasted chicken has always been just decent; the skin is great but the meat on the inside is always a bit dry and definitely requires some gravy or sauce to dip it in. Despite the lumpia switch-up, prices are still unbeatable for the bay, so I'd come back. I did notice that they seemed to have a new cook in the back, so here's to hoping that next time, the lumpia reverts back to the way it was!
