Clean office. Easy to locate. Plenty of parking. Appointment taken on time. Professional staff…read more Dr DelPiero examined my eyes and performed laser surgery for torn retina right eye at same appointment. I was nervous Didn't know what to expect. Easier than what I thought. No pain. Drops on my eye. Rest your chin and forehead and watch the lights. That's it. My left eye wanted more attention. I had a detached retina at 3o"clock section A few days before I saw flashing lights in the one eye is why I went to the eye dr. Luckily I went in. If I didn't I could have lost sight. I was scheduled for emergency surgery the next day The next day I saw Dr Burkehard in the office. He examined then confirmed surgery required. Was told to meet him at the hospital CHOMP I requested to be put to sleep. A vtrectomy. Laser. And gas bubble to repair detached retina. Woke up. All done. No pain. Had surgery June 24, 2026 Rested in bed laying on right side for four weeks. Tylenol and eye drops. Saw Dr three times Today is August 3, 2026 Can still see gas bubble. I still have my sight. Next appointment August 20, 2026 Both Drs I recommend to you. Very professional and up to date.

I also didn't appreciate how I was unable to get a callback from his office on my questions regarding a multivitamin he recommended me to take. So despite living 1 hour away from his office, I booked a separate in person meeting just to ask questions, and every question I asked was met with either arrogance, or a defensive tone. Even with simple questions like "when should I come to see you next considering my condition?" -- he could not respond without some level of drama. Maybe he was having a bad day, but still, I have never had a doctor treat me the way he did that day.

When I didn't receive the pre-op eye drops and also realizing that Dr. Friedman was not concerned about my dry eyes, I decided to delay the surgery. It was over NY's Eve, so the office was closed, and I couldn't reach anyone. When I called Monday, the day before the surgery, they said it was fine that I hadn't received the drops and no big deal about my dry eyes. I canceled anyway and then received an unitemized bill for $400+ for, according to the billing dept, "special tests." She said that, as a favor, they would apply my surgery deposit of $300+ to that second bill - so, basically, she kept it. Two months later, I got a $90 refund. The math doesn't even add up but I am glad I still have my eyes in tact. I mentioned Dr. Friedman to two locals and both had the same reaction, "He's horrible!" I went to another surgeon whom several people recommended. He treated my astigmatism and instructed me to use drops, which he provided, for my dry eyes. He also said there was no reason to perform surgery on my right eye. So...a totally different experience and no rushing. I don't like to leave bad reviews for people but this is too important not to mention. You only get one set of eyes.

They immediately become defensive when you ask questions. They make no effort to listen to the patient and they are not willing to work for the patient and insurance limitations. They say that the diagnosis is the diagnosis and don't try to work within insurance limitations to access insurance reimbursement and ease the burden on patients. After 7 years, they have now lost me as a patient and will never return there.
