They offer ideas that would work and seamlessly guide you through the process even when you're just hours away from the dance. The price points for a corsage are either $29 or $34. The $34 giving you a few more options and details. I used to walk in crabby, knowing he again stuck me with the corsage at the last minute, but I've since learned that these women are going to save me. There's no reason to be stressed. Although, the idea of wearing a corsage seems so archaic to me, they manage to create beautiful ones every time. We've ordered them from Phillip's 6 times so far with a 7th time (prom) looming. Meeting my gf's parents for the first time was nerve wracking enough but one day before her mom's birthday just added another layer of pressure. Fortunately, Philip's is close by her family, the store is easy to get to-apparently, my girl used to hang out there all the time back in high school; it was a Baker's Square back then. I walked in and the space was large with a lot more devoted to gardening and plants than I thought it would be but with two large coolers with cash and carry flowers, ready made bouquets and arrangements. I saw someone who was obviously a staff member and said hello and tried to flash a 'male in distress' facial expression but she gave me a strange look and turned to a lady customer who seemed to know her business. Either she was helping her before I walked in or my 'male in distress' face needs to be relabeled 'escaped mental patient' face and subsequently mothballed. They had a rose bouquet special 'cash and carry' but it was just roses so I went with a $30 pre-made rose bouquet with some filler flowers that I took. Another staff member did come out and asked if I needed any help and she got the bouquet and wrapped it up for me. I looked around while making small talk and noticed a huge area in the back as a design studio as well as a large table for (what I assume) to be for wedding planning. Nice to see that local flower shops are still around and thriving, places like this survive because of its attention to things like attention to detail and service. read more

I knew Phillip's was expensive but their prices have gotten outrageous. A simple arrangement in a vase was almost $100! They wanted me to pay when I ordered the flowers. I said no. When I went in to pick up the flowers they asked me to pay first. I asked to see the arrangement first. It's a good thing I did because the order was wrong. They tried two more times to get it right. The order was still wrong! I said "I'll go somewhere else", and walked out. When the clerk was initially adding up my order she started with, "Vase, $15.00..." I'm thinking Jewel sells the same vase for $6.00 which means their cost is probably $2.00-$3.00. So, $15.00 for a $2.00 vase, I don't think so. read more

I should've known better than to shop on Mother's Day, that's my bad. Regardless, I was looking for a hanging flower plant for my Mom, and needed to make sure it'd be non-toxic if ingested by a curious kitty or toddler. The selection outside was very small, and what they did have had a lot of dead sections and leaves that looked a bit eaten already. The first girl who came to help us wasn't knowledgeable about types of flowers, toxicity, etc. But she did say they could cut off the dead parts (would that decrease the price then? No? Hm. K.). She went to get someone who could tell us about the toxicity, and that woman didn't know, either. She also told me that there are no flowering plants that can be hanging potted plants indoors. Oh really? Because my Mom already has several. And I really wanted to like this place, it's in a really convenient location! read more

Phillip's was one of the places I was considering as a florist for my wedding. They have multiple locations throughout Chicago, but I wanted to visit the Naperville location since it was the closest to my venue, so we made an appointment. We had just come from another local florist and had a good experience there. I had seen many arrangements done by Phillip's, so I had a good feeling about them because they all looked so pretty. We checked in and walked around a bit. They have a lot of arrangements and festive gifts throughout the store, so it seems like a good place to get something like that, though its pricey but hey, we're in Naperville. We then sat down for our appointment. Given that I never thought about my wedding day until I was actually engaged, I had zero clue what I wanted. I don't know anything about flowers, nor do I really care very much about them. I just like stuff to look pretty and the only thing I knew is that my colors were going to be a periwinkle blue and light yellow, so I was pretty open to suggestions. We decided not to go with Phillip's for two reasons. 1) The appointment wasn't very personable or helpful. Since I can't tell a lily from an orchid, it would have been nice to see some examples of what a bouquet would look like, or even a picture of the flower. The place we chose is a very small operation, yet they seemed to be able to put something together for me that gave me some kind of idea. Also, our appointment at Phillip's started off with us just flipping through three huge books of flowers for about 15 minutes. I think the guy was hoping I'd point to one and say "that one!" Anytime he suggested something, it was like "yeah, so we'll put this flower here, and maybe a thistle and wrap it." It's hard to pinpoint exactly, but it didn't feel like we were going to get a hands-on, one-on-one experience. Just felt like we were yet another bridal floral appt for the day. 2) the price. Sure the flowers are pretty, but the price I was quoted at the place I ended up choosing was several hundred less, and they were further away. You'd think their delivery charge would be higher, but it wasn't. I didn't get the experience I hoped for, but I think I made the right decision for me. If you have the money, by all means go for it. They do a great job. It's just not for me. read more

Phillip's flowers has yet to disappoint me. In all fairness, I do not shop here often, just ask my wife. However, when I really screw the pooch, they are there for me 110%. Friday morning I phoned asking if they could put together an emergency corsage for my Son's very first school dance. They assured me that it would be no problem and we decided on one with small white roses. The corsage was ready when I picked it up and it looked awesome - all the more so for them having no notice whatsoever. Vase water everywhere, roses at the end of their vase life, and one stem snapped in half. Very disappointed.
