First, this place is a gem! You walk in and it's like going into a pizza parlor from the past. The wall has amazing art and photos from all different eras. When you talk to the staff though, you hear about the care that goes into making a place like this work. Every pie was delicious but even more so, they care about the experience. We didn't have a bad time but I do think if we did, it would have been fixed on the spot. The slices are massive, hold the ingredients, and also taste fantastic. You can tell it's all made in house from a recipe probably older than me. Most importantly, they keep late hours. We struggled to find a place open that late that night but I'm glad I found this one. I ordered a gluten-free takeout pizza from Philly Pizza Authority for delivery at 5:30 p.m., but it arrived at 4:58 p.m. I ordered a red pizza with goat cheese, lamb, onions, and peppers. Since it was listed as a red pizza, I assumed it would not come with mozzarella. I cannot eat cow's milk cheese, which is why I specifically ordered goat cheese. Unfortunately, the pizza arrived covered with mozzarella. When I called, the employee told me that their red pizzas automatically come with mozzarella and was not very helpful. Since I don't have a car, I was hoping they would offer to remake it or find a way to correct the mistake, but no solution was offered. I also ordered what was supposed to be a simple tossed salad, but what I received was a Greek salad instead. Clearly, someone was not paying attention to the order, and it seems like more than one item was made incorrectly. On top of the order mistakes and poor customer service, I wasn't impressed with the pizza itself. The sauce had far too much oregano for my taste. Between the incorrect order, the lack of willingness to make things right, and the quality of the food, I will not be ordering from Philly Pizza Authority again. read more

Oh man if I could give more than 5 stars I most certainly would! Not only were the gentlemen in the establishment absolutely delightful and could tell they took pride in what they do. But every single dish that was ordered you could taste how much they cared and valued what they do. I haven't had that good of food anywhere in awhile and I will most certainly be back many more times. After spending a day at the beach, my family and I were looking for a good pizza place in New Smyrna before we drove home to Orlando. We found an outstanding one. We loved the pizza and decor at Philly Pizza Authority. For food, we started with the garlic knots, which came out hot and were so delicious. My daughter was surprised that she was full after only one piece of pizza, forgetting she housed 3 knots. We ordered 16 inch pepperoni and PPA special pizzas, and both were outstanding. I especially loved the crust, and my wife and I both agreed they used really fresh ingredients. If you've lived in Philly or have been there a lot, you'll love the decor in the restaurant. I lived in Philly 13 years, and it's my wife and I's second home. I went to college in the suburbs (shoutout to Villanova!), met my wife when we were both working at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and taught at Temple and Drexel. I bought my first house in South Philly, and our first child was born there. Seeing all the and Phillies signs and pictures, and especially the picture of legendary radio host Pierre Robert with one of the chefs brought back a lot of fond memories. Lastly, the employees at PPA were all very nice. Chef Rob, a South Philly guy, was a cool dude. We talked briefly while he was working some dough. I'm grateful he and his business partner brought Philly down to my home state. Whether you're from Philly or not, you should definitely check out this place! Ordered 3 pizzas and cheesy garlic knots through the mobile app. Easy to navigate and simple to order using Apple Pat so I didn't have to provide a credit card number. My favorite pizza was the white pizza that we added grilled chicken and mushrooms to. Crust was thin and perfectly cooked. The 20" large pies are huge! Staff were super friendly at pick up and we'd dine in next time in a small but cute dining room. Highly recommended!!! read more

Have had many cheesesteaks from here and they have all been great- with their "whiz" on it. Keep in mind, this will set you back almost $20 bucks, but it's usually worth it. Also keep in mind, I'm not someone to normally come on Yelp to give feedback or someone who complains. Today, there was a new guy who I have't met in the past. When I picked up the cheesesteak, the whiz was loaded on top and looked like a gelatinous chunk rather than mixed in, and it was nasty. It tasted like it was old and potentially had gone bad, there was a chalkiness to it that is usually not there. I went back in to let him know it didn't taste right (and was nice about it) and the guy instantly went into argumentative mode about how "this is their whiz"..."it's a béchamel sauce and it's homemade, made from real ingredients". He blamed the chalkiness on "having Parmesan in it". I tried to gently explain that I've had their "whiz" and this did not taste like their typical product. Didn't say this but thought it... real ingredients in homemade sauces expire/go bad too (and usually do much quicker!). He offered to make me a new one, but his tone and true desire to do so were so off-putting that I told him to not bother. I'm done with giving my $20 bucks to this place. The guy who is typically there is a decent guy who prides himself in his cheesesteaks and makes them with care. I hope he figures out that this guy is a detriment to his business sooner rather than later! read more

He was noticeably aggressive and spoke down to him in a way that made the situation uncomfortable for everyone around. In a town full of Italian food and pizza options, this place is unique and worth checking out. The pizza crust is thin, crispy, and the right amount of chewy. The Sicilian is also excellent and they offer good combinations of toppings. Got their PPA special with the arugula salad with pear, loved them both. The cheesesteaks are also amazing. The one with truffles is insane. Plus they bake their own bread. We dined in, and one of the owners gave us a loaf of rosemary focaccia bread to take home with us. I bought an eggplant parm for lunch and it was the worst I ever had. They put a green pesto sauce on the eggplant WITH a little tomato sauce. Now I am a 72 yr old Sicilian descent. I eat eggplant a lot. This is beyond shameful. It's salty and has a weird taste due to combining a pesto and they have the nerve to sell these oil drenched limp onion rings. I should get my money back. Never go to this place. I remember the worker telling me when they first opened that he never made pizza. Hopefully he will actually learn to cook but for now don't waste your money. Terrible! read more
