The Philly's Best Cheesesteak
Lin F.

Huge sandwiches and grilled upon ordering l! Bigger than my mouth, I needed to bites for every full chomp. Onion rings crispy and fries crispy! Ketchup free. Fast service on a Saturday 1 pm rush -- the place was packed and all 2,4 tops occupied! Ambience casual and friendly. I ate outside at one of the two picnic tables. Parking lot large and bikes visible when sitting outside! Eat here!

I heard really good things about this place. Unfortunately I think it's over rated. There was nothing special about the meat or bread. The bread tasted really plain and the entire sandwich was not worth it. It was good, but it wasn't excellent. It was also super hot inside the store as if the AC broke. The service was fast but I was the only customer in there.

Our sandwiches 1.5 were perfect It won't stop us I assure the cook got distracted

Always reliable chicken is tender not dry. Beef is tender not dry. Great prices on $7 on 7 Day.

This place was pretty good, very no frills, straight to the point. The cheesesteak itself was really good. The bread was very soft, the meat was flavorful and the cheese was actually very tasty! I also got a side of Whiz and I think that helped set off all the flavors... it was like 1.49 extra though which seems a little high to me. I came in during the lunch hour and they had a steady stream of customers but I wouldn't say it was ever busy. The bathrooms were clean, you have to manually put the toilet flusher down and up for it to stop but not a huge deal. A lady did spill like her entire drink on the floor while I was there and they cleaned it up very quickly and throughly which was great because a decent amount of elderly people were in and out of here. They had 3 tvs which give ya something to do while you're All in all I'd say my review is like a 4.5ish just because I wasn't blown away by the service or atmosphere.. it wasn't bad but it just wasn't amazing!'

I have been to Philadelphia and had BOTH Geno's and Pat's so I know cheesesteaks. There is no better cheesesteak than here at Philly's Best. Surely I must be employing figurative language known as hyperbole? NO! It starts with Amoroso rolls imported from the City of Brotherly Love. It's an Italian roll slightly crusty on the outside but soft inside. The meat (looks like ribeye) is sliced thin then shredded on the flattop and cooked with the peppers and onion (if you want them). They throw the cheese on there too and mix it all up. (Some places just put the cheese on the bun separately and I don't like it as much). It's juicy and very flavorful. So simple but one of the best things on the planet, like an In N Out burger! The onion rings are really good, they are cooked enough so the onions become sweet and have a thick batter. I always salt them hot. Great place that was started in Fountain Valley in the early 90's!

I ordered "Philly's Best" with provolone and grilled onions added. This is what I got; a sandwich with grilled onions, and mushrooms. Where's the peppers? Why does only half my sandwich have cheese? Lol

Don't waste your money at this place. They're buying shitty Sysco pucks. They don't make anything good here. Avoid.

Craved a cheesy sandwich, so I stopped by West Coast Cheesesteak for lunch--and thanks to their SGV…read morePassport deal, it ended up covering dinner and even breakfast the next day too. Their tater tots alone are practically a meal. They're crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and well-seasoned without being overly salty. They're great with ketchup, but I like mixing half of them with my homemade lemon pepper seasoning, which takes them to another level. The cheesesteaks are generously portioned and packed with tender, buttery beef smothered in plenty of melted cheese. Every bite is rich, savory, and satisfying, making this the perfect spot whenever you're craving a hearty, cheesy sandwich.

Their menu is very limited but honestly, quality over quantity. Based off the reviews and photos that I saw on Yelp, I decided to get the 'West Coast Cheesesteak' in a large to share between two people. They let you choose what cheese you want and the reviews said that the cheddar cheese sauce was amazing. Honestly, I wish I stuck with what I like and got the provolone. The cheddar cheese sauce wasn't my cup of tea but the two people that I shared it with said it was really good. I did also wish that the bread was more toasted and the entire cheesesteak had more texture to it. The bell peppers added a nice spice to each bite and was honestly my favorite thing about the sandwich. It was also $20 for one cheesesteak.

On TH night, your favorite Yelp correspondent was culminating his Uber shift w/ a quick dive into…read morethe Walmart for a trio of necessities when the smell of freshly sizzling meat seized my attention. Charley's Cheesesteaks likes to tout the cravability of its meal by affixing huge "Crave Quench" slogans across the sturdy 14" x 8" cardboard vessels the chain uses to dispatch their hoagies in. The deeply experienced cheesesteak connoisseur in me, who has sampled both Pat's and Geno's in Philadelphia along with very credible So Cal purveyors of the Philly Hoagie art¹, feels like tucking his tail between his legs...For permitting himself to be fooled into squandering $14.48 plus tax on this sandwich. ¹ Especially when the uncrowned champion of Southern Cali Cheesesteaks, West Coast Cheesesteaks, sits one mile north on Lone Hill! BUT had just closed for the evening, five minutes prior to my 7:05pm order time. Not all about my visit was dissatisfactory: The customer service delivered to me by the two young men who took, cooked and delivered my order was excellent. They were polite, friendly and efficient. The store was clean and very presentable, even in spite of the 7pm dinner hour crowd who'd crowded into the cozy wee lobby to order. And the aforementioned packaging that Charley's utilizes is nonpareil...should be the standard for all take out hoagies, everywhere! Seriously! In 2026, places like Philly's Best and West Coast can surely do better than sliding their moneymaker into a paper sleeve! But in those three enduring hallmarks that we diners use to decide whether we'll return -that's taste, texture and value for money- Charley's Cheesesteaks made more like Charley Brown and...muffed the kick! Taste- The sole change I made to my L Philly Cheesesteak was to strip out the mushrooms, tomatoes and lettuce. The first because I've never liked 'shrooms and the latter two because it's an abomination to put such "cold sando" staples on a hot hoagie! The meat tasted extra salty and you could scarcely taste, let alone FIND, any of the provolone cheese I'd requested. Texture- The texture of the bread was a colossal letdown. It was soggy, slightly salty and lacked the heft to adequately support its contents! They also were missing those indelible tiny seeds that you'll find on any hoagie made by West Coast Cheesesteaks or the Bronx Deli. Value- I have NO PROBLEM spending hard-earned lucre on well made meals. I don't blanch at dropping two Jacksons ($40) for a duo of L cheesesteaks and an order of legendary onion rings from that rival purveyor up Lone Hill... But when the CALIBER of your sandwich is so underwhelming that even your voracious 21yr old youngest son -who'd normally quaff half a hoagie in four bites then proudly belch- takes a bite, grimaces then says "Dad, I think the Frenchies will love this in their dinner tonight." ... ... Suddenly that $16.91 incl tax and courtesy tip seems like a squandered purchase. So in sum, after tonight's dud of a meal, my appetite was not "quenched" and the lone thing I was left "craving" was the rival restaurant's cheesesteaks!

The owner of this location really needs to pay more attention to their business. There was only 1…read moreemployee available to take orders and make them. This is not acceptable. I left the food untouched because this was disgusting. The oil has not been switched out for a long time as you can see by the color of the fries.
