Pricey- but worth it if you have pets, allergies and just want clean floors, I love it. Used in The White House.

Whether it's buying a new vacuum or getting appliances and lamps repaired, the only shop I'll go to is Phil's Electric. They're honest and their pricing is fair and you'll get your item back in quick order. This errand I needed a new electrical cord for my old DeLonghi portable radiator. Like many appliances, ones that were made 25 years ago are better quality than the new models. When I damaged the cord, I dumbly replaced it with a new DeLonghi model that only threw heat from the top of the unit and barely made a temperature difference in my living room. My trusty old radiator now has a new heat-resistant cord that's longer than the original one (hooray, no extension cords, that's how I damaged the original plug), a missing bolt replaced and polished shiny clean for $55. I love Phil's Electric, in business for over 80 years for a reason.

Here's the shop on Lombard near the Lyons Gate of the Presidio!

Awesome job by Phil's Electric! I had a small lamp that had a faulty switch for some time. Oops by me in using a light bulb that exceeded the wattage of the lamp. That short-circuit and puff of smoke was a sign to get it fixed! Phil's Electric to the rescue. I dropped it off; they gave me a rough estimate. When I called back on the day they said it would be done, it was ready for pick up! What a relief to get my lamp back. I'd been dwelling in the dark for sometime :( Now I have my two Phil's fixed lamps for use. Hurrah for Phil's! A great family owned and operated small business. They don't make repair shops like these any more. Established in 1941!!!

I found an old pump type Zojirushi airpot in my packed away in storage and in trying to use it, their was no pressure to dispense the water. I called Phil's to ask if this was worth repairing or something for the trash. Right away they said it probably needed a new lid, particularly if the dispenser was more than 5 years old and said the replacement part was about $30. They had the part in stock and and replacing it would make it as good as new. I decided it was worth it since a new airpot would cost much more. I went to the shop and replaced it right away and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. I walked out with a working Zojirushi airpot. Still the only place in Northern California that will service Zojirushi appliances. Great place, knowledgeable staff, wonderful service. Locally owned small business. They observe the COVID-19 protocols--they wear masks and anyone entering the store is required to wear a mask and they limit the number of people in their shop. They also provide hand sanitizer at the front counter.

They fix appliances and do so quickly, cheaply and with a smile. What is there not to love?

I finally gave in and decided to buy a Miele, after going there for years for replacement bags for a cheap vacuum.

Later, I had another problem as the fridge started making an odd noise. Initially, Vadym suspected it was the compressor fan, but the issue persisted. This issue had actually been lingering for a long time, I had at least four or five other companies came to diagnose the noise issue, each offering different quick opinions--some barely inspected it and suggested immediate part replacements, others insisted the fridge needed to be pulled out (which is a big job for a built-in unit) and fix from the back of the fridge. But none felt confident, they all rushed to conclusions without a proper diagnosis. Vadym stood out by taking the time. He thoroughly examined the fridge and, when the issue persisted, he consulted his network instead of guessing. Eventually, he figured out the noise was caused by the condenser pipe and water pipe being too close, which caused vibration when the compressor kicked in. In the end, he fixed it. What I truly appreciated was his commitment, he didn't rush to a quick guess; he invested time, asked for input, and returned until it was resolved. I would highly recommend Vadym and Metro Appliance to others.

I have a dual GE Café gas oven/range, and the larger oven stopped working. I called Top Repair and…read morea tech came out to assess it -- turned out the igniter needed to be replaced. He didn't have the part on hand, so I paid for the part and the service call. He estimated 7-10 business days, but they got it in just 3, so my oven was back up and running in less than a week. After he installed the igniter, we ran a test on all the functions and discovered the convection wasn't working. He pulled the stove out, ran a diagnostic, and showed me that the control board was burnt out and not getting power. Replacing it would run $600, so I chose to hold off since the oven itself works fine and I rarely use the convection feature but I'll definitely be calling them back when I'm ready, because a new range runs about $4K and that's not a conversation I want to have right now. Total cost for the igniter repair was $300. The tech was knowledgeable, efficient, and got the job done without any drama. I highly recommend Top Repair they'll get you up and running again without breaking the bank, and the quality of work is top notch.

I don't want to sound too over the top, but Top Repair is quite amazing. Calling a repair person…read morefor any kind of appliance issue can be daunting at best. It's usually something that you need right away, but you don't want to spend unnecessarily. Top Repair confidently walked me through the whole process. They have a very tightly organized customer service response, they use the technology well to respond to quote requests and information calls quickly. Then, for a standard fee, they will come and assess the issue, and then that whole fee goes toward paying for the repair if you choose to use them. The person who came out was the owner, Bagy (BAH-gee). He was amazing. Quickly understood the problem, quoted me the cost of parts and repair, ordered the part and came 2 days later and finished the job quickly. Very calm, cool, and direct about everything. Later, a further issue came up (something we both feared might happen) and he came and did another assessment, fixed some programming as part of the visit, gave me really good options and, if the problem persists, I can call him back, he knows what needs to be done and today's consultation fee still applies to the final job! These guys will not play with you. They will figure out the issue, get it fixed, and be done quickly and neatly. They're in my speed dial now. It's so nice to have someone that I can call regularly for a whole house full of issues.
