We had them come look at our kitchen vent hood and they said we needed to get it replaced. They said the payment from the visitó would go into the cost of the installation once we picked a new vent. Well we've called them three times and they have keep saying they'll call back in ten minutes and they never called back. Both times, the fridge had stopped working (but due to different issues -- once with coil cleaning and once with a fried wire), and both individuals were kind and explained to me what was wrong, what they were going to do to fix the problem, etc. as they diagnosed and worked on the fridge. They didn't call back so I called them again the next day and got their voicemail where the mailbox was too full to leave a message. I don't know what happened to these guys, maybe I recommended them to too many people and they can't keep up? Never heard from them and that was weeks ago. Nor-Cal repairmen are sensational! I have had them twice, the first time Frank, the senior expert; the second time, Emilio who Frank trained. Both guys were great! They diagnosed the problems in our Whirlpool refrigerator quickly and accurately and repaired them completely. Both times the refrigerator was leaking water onto the hardwood floor in our kitchen, yikes! Before Nor-Cal, the landlord had called two other appliance repair companies. Repairman number one said, he couldn't find any leaks, and repairman number two said there was "nothing wrong" with the fridge. Both were paid for their service. But the refrigerator still gushed pools of water in the middle of the night. Then Nor-Cal came out for the first time. Frank checked the fridge from top to bottom, inside and out, and front to back. No, it wasn't the ice maker. No, it wasn't the filter. No, it wasn't anything inside the machine. It was the plastic hose behind the refrigerator that connected the appliance to the water source, a faucet at the end of the water pipe. Frank showed it to me. The plastic hose had become bent (most likely from my wife and me moving the refrigerator in and out to clean), and the bent plastic had finally cracked, creating the leak. I said shame on Whirlpool for providing cheap plastic hosing, or maybe shame on the installer. Frank said not to worry, he could fix it. He went down to his truck and came back with real COPPER PIPE! He installed a big long coil of it, long enough so we could still move the fridge in and out for cleaning without damaging the pipe, and repaired the fridge quickly and completely. Frank, what a pro! What a quality guy! My second experience came this week. Two and a half years later, the refrigerator was leaking again. The hardwood floor was again in danger. I urged the landlord (GreenTree) not to send out anyone other than Nor-Cal, it will be a waste of time and money. "Nor-Cal knows what they're doing!" I said. Nor-Cal called me the next morning to set up an appointment. It was Frank on the phone! He said he could send out a guy the same day, in the afternoon. "Can't you come?" I asked him. "Sorry I can't, but I'm sending Emilio, who's just as good," he replied. "Did you train him?" "Yep, I trained him. He's one of my best. He'll find the leak." And of course, he did! Emilio was just as fantastic as Frank. No, it wasn't the ice-maker, which I thought it must have been. No, it wasn't the filter. No, it wasn't the copper coil in the back, obviously. It was the plastic drain at the bottom of the refrigerator; I didn't know there was such a thing. But Emilio unclogged it and fixed it while I was on the telephone; I don't know how long it took. But it's now Friday and there's been no more leaks from our refrigerator. Why? Because Emilio is a pro, a quality guy! Just like Frank! And I'll betcha all the other repairmen or repairwomen at Nor-Cal are just the same. Thanks Frank for training all them so well. And for reminding me and all the rest of us out here in these difficult times: that Professionalism and Quality Do Indeed Matter! last month I called someone to fix my refrigerator. He came when expected, and the refrigerator worked again for a reasonable price. I paid him in cash, which he requested, and he didn't give me a receipt. Two weeks later the appliance no longer worked, i couldn't remember the name of his company, and a friend referred me to Nor-Cal. I will never call anyone else. Frank came on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, told us what to do, explained how it happened, how he would treat it, and I was delighted. I woke up to my fridge being off and the lights inside not working. When I called Nor-Cal, they suggested that I check the breaker first to make sure the fridge was actually getting power. My fridge was getting too cold, food freezing up, the digital temp control was broken, ice maker not discharging ice. I was referred by Parkside Appliance to contact Norcal Refrigeration as Parkside does not repair fridges. I called Norcal and asked for "Frank", someone said Frank was unavailable but could schedule a Sat 10/10 service call. The person who showed up was "George" from Continental Refrigeration. George inspected the fridge and said the repair would be replacement of the 1) digital control board, 2) ice-maker. His verbal estimate was $600+. George said he would call me on Mon after finding out the exact costs of the parts & timing for this repair. Prior to George's departure he insisted on collecting $65 for the 15 min service call. Days go by no calls from Norcal or Continental refrigeration. So on Thu 10/15, I called Norcal and spoke to "Frank" and informed him of my experience with "George". He seemed surprised and promised to get back to me. More bullshit no call backs. I'm going to order the parts via Marcone and fix it myself. I wanted to give these guys the benefit, but the scammers they are deserve a ONE star review. Please avoid these two companies Norcal & Continental refrigeration as they'll charge you $65 for doing nothing. read more

Excellent repair service! Called them on Saturday afternoon when I discovered my fridge was warm but the freezer was working fine. They were the only company to return my phone call. Received a call back from Chris within the hour. He was at my house on Sunday at noon as promised. He figured out the problem quickly, and had the part my fridge needed in his truck. Excellent, quick and professional service. I was able to quickly schedule repair for my old refrigerator that suddenly died, then somehow turned back on a day later. I scheduled same week, and Emilio was very quick to diagnose a burned lead of some sort. He didn't have the part, so he drove out to get the it and finish out the job within the hour. He even gave the unit a full look over and cleaned out the coils for good measure before putting everything back right where it was. What a pleasure to work with such a competent company. I Frank, upon a recommendation from a friend, an he had Emilio come out. While changing the water filter on my Kitchenaid refrigerator we forced it and water was leeking all over. Had to shut the water off at the cold water intake at the kitchen sink as no valve was placed on the copper tubing. Next day Emilio was there right on time. Check it over and needed to order a part. 3 days later, over a weekend, he installed the part and also a valve to shut off the water at the copper tube so we could still have water in the kitchen if we needed to shut off the refrig. Not only did they replace the failed part, they worked with me to make sure the refrigerator would last many more years (scheduled coil cleaning and replacing worn seals). Fair service, perhaps worth an extra half star, but no way deserving of four stars, so at three they stay. Had trouble getting them to call back to schedule an appointment, and they proceeded to cancel on me twice, albeit in a courteous fashion. Finally, the guy sent his uncle, who also runs a different refrigeration service, over to make the call. He was a pleasant and competent fellow, but after making chit-chat about his philanthropic efforts on behalf of Peru while I was paying the bill, he proceeded to hit me up for a donation. Now I could have declined, but was caught off guard and made a contribution, and am still somewhat irritated at the thought. So with that word of caution, I can recommend NorCal for good work and fairly reasonable prices, particularly if they don't sub the work to the guy's uncle. But in my opinion, when someone is in your personal space ostensibly on business, it's dirty pool to solicit for something unrelated, and as such I wouldn't use them again. read more

My wife and I woke up at 2AM to the sound of our refrigerator making a horribly loud noise. It sounded like truck downshifting. It was so loud I thought for sure that it was going to wake the neighbors and I would hear about it the next day. I called Frank at Norcal. My fridge had been on the brink for a while. I had another company come out to take a look several months ago, the guy replaced one thing after another but the fridge was still broken. After 3 attempts of trying to fix it I gave up and hoped my fridge would last a little longer. Unfortunately it died a few days ago but fortunately for me I found Norcal. Frank was able to squeeze me in between appointments the same day. Between Frank and Christopher they were able to diagnose the problem within minutes. They were both friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, explained everything clearly and made sure everything was clean before they left. I've lived in my place for 10 years and was told by the previous owner that there was no way to get water connected to a fridge. I also had my fridge delivered and installed 10 years and had a repair man come out last year and not one of these people told me I had access to a water source. When Frank made the repairs he saw the water source and connected it to my fridge, installed the filter, showed me how to use it and now I have ice and filtered water, all at no extra charge. What a bonus without even asking! I would definitely recommend Norcal, and I don't often hand out 5 stars. read more

Frank and his son are fantastic. My refrigerator gave out on a Sunday. I called and left a message at 6am on Monday morning. Frank called me back just after 8am and his son came out to fix by 10:15am. The same thing happened again 5 days later (through no fault of Nor-Cal) and Frank himself came out, fixed it again, adjusted my temperature settings so the faulty issue wouldn't happen again and didn't charge me for the second visit. Our freezer stopped working so my husband did a search to find a repair company, specifically one that was a small business and we're so happy we found Nor-Cal refrigeration. Emilio showed up wearing a face mask, was extremely professional and fixed a tear in our seal. While that was fixed, a few days later we realized it still wasn't getting as cool as it should (ice cream was still soft) so he came back and added some fluid that had apparently melted away and is suppose to help with the freezing.
