    Getting my Philz fix!!
    Zara-Maria S.

As someone who fell in love with Philz Coffee back when I lived in San Francisco, finding one in Chicago was like a little taste of home! The moment I walked in, that familiar aroma and laid-back vibe hit me -- and I knew I was in the right place. Of course, I had to order my all-time favorite: the Mint Mojito Iced Coffee. Fresh, creamy, perfectly balanced, and topped with that signature sprig of mint -- it's the kind of drink that instantly lifts your mood and makes you smile. The Chicago location nails everything I love about Philz -- friendly baristas who make your drink exactly how you want it, cozy seating, and a calm energy that feels worlds away from the downtown rush. Whether you're catching up with friends, working on your laptop, or just treating yourself to a coffee experience (not just a caffeine fix), this is the spot. So happy to have my Bay Area favorite right here in the heart of Chicago!

Coffee was good but no lattes or espressos which are my favorite. We also ordered the blueberry lemon glazed scone and it was pretty good. The service was very good. The coffee shop looked clean and welcoming.

My go to for beans - Philtered Soul hits the spot consistently with it's punch of hazelnut flavor. The drinks are made to order and always a delightful and unique concoction. A must try is the mojito coffee. The seasonal drinks are always fun. Service is nice and generally pretty quick. The space is bare/to the point and has a few seating tables for small groups. There is one table that can hold a few folks - saw some people playing large uno. It doesn't get too loud here.

Great coffee and always has something that is different than the usual chains. The store is clean but very limited seating. Usually packed with people coming to/from Whole Foods or LifeTime. I tried the Gingersnap iced and you can taste the ginger, definitely recommend.

Stopped by Philz for a quick break and tried the Honey Haze. Even after asking for it half-sweet, it was still way too sweet for my taste--overpowered the coffee entirely. The chocolate croissant, on the other hand, was a win. Flaky, warm, and satisfying--definitely the highlight of the visit. There are a few seats if you want to hang around, but it's more of a casual stop than a sit-down café. Good for a quick bite and go. Staff was kind and helped me with a technical issue with the payment.

Thank you, Cam, for a GREAT experience and the warmest of welcomes! My friend's Tesora was cool and refreshing and my Magical Water was just that, magical! Yum! Philz has a great crew and delivers way more than just coffee and any purchase is more than just a transaction. I left with a lighter step and a brighter smile than when I entered. Thanks Philz on Chicago Ave.! :--) Patrick S.

Great coffee. Good amount of seating for 20 people or so. Free water. Consistent taste with those in California.

My go-to order at Philz is the iced Mint Mojito coffee with the sweet and creamy modifier! If you're a fan of sweet iced coffee drinks, you will love this!

Never pass up a chance to get some Philz! Happened to be in chicago and got to stop in for some Philz. Went with their seasonal option of winter bliss. Easy to order with friendly staff. Seating available indoors and outdoors. Delicious coffee made perfectly.

My first Philz experience! I was surprised I had never heard about Philz when I realized this coffee shop has a significant following. All their coffee is brewed, no espresso. They have cold brew, iced coffee, and pour overs, plus a significant menu of specialty drinks with flavoring. At first, this kind of reminded me of Mary Lou's (for you New Englanders) but I actually loved my experience. Off the menu, I chose the mojito iced coffee. I love mint and coffee together so I really enjoyed this coffee. I got medium sweetness and medium creaminess. Unlike other places, they don't overdue the sweetness - medium was barely sweet, which is the way I like it. The coffee even had a generous heap of fresh mint leaves (which I guess for $7 makes sense). Everyone who worked here was really friendly and offered to make any adjustments as they handed you your coffee. I'm still an espresso / iced latte fan at heart, but I really enjoyed this elevated brewed coffee cafe. Will stop at Philz next time I have the chance!

Philz One Chicago was my first stop after a nearby appointment. I was in search of a caffeinated pick me up before going on with the rest of my day, and in the mood to branch out from my go-to Starbucks. The pastries and other food offerings in the case looked intriguing, although it seemed like Peet's or Starbucks have more options in terms of day-long offerings (sandwiches, salads) and grab-and-go items. For coffee, all of the creations are proprietary to Philz. There is really nothing like an Americano, latte, etc. on offer, rather the menu features the store's own creations. I went with a facsimile of a house blend, a medium-roast Tesora, with cream. The drink, a pour-over, was crafted with care and was smooth. Certainly not as speedy as a coffee with a splash of cream added, but good to change things up. As other reviewers pointed out, there is seating indoors and a few outside tables. On my visit, the space was calm and conducive to having a coffee meeting or doing some work.

Being from the Bay I took it personally that the breakfast burritos from Philz in Chicago were so much better than ours . Service was great. Location was a little dirty, but the coffee and the food were fantastic.

I was honestly too hungry to spend much time deciding, so I just ordered one of the sourdough donut ball. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
