I first tried Philz coffee up in San Jose so when I was in Fullerton, I knew I had to stop in. This place was packed, yet, the service didn't falter. Ordering is a bit confusing- the baristas would take your order but someone else would take your payment down at the register kind of a distance from where the drinks were being made. However, that is minor. Our barista was super friendly, and even offered to replace my mint with more lively one when she saw me taking photos of my drink. I take photos of everything I consume because I must continue the Yelp Elite tradition of documenting my food journey and experiences. My order- Mint latte- minty coffee goodness with a bit of sweetness and a strong caffeine punch! I felt the jolt of caffeine in this one! I also tried their vegan chocolate pudding- smooth, creamy and I couldn't tell it was vegan. Lots of seating, great for people watching, and great coffee. I'm definitely coming back! read more

Before I left to travel I was on a binge of coffee drinking every morning and I wanted to try tons of places and found out that Philz had opened a location in the city of Fullerton. This was very close to my boot camp class so after working out I would end up coming here for a drink. My favorite thing of course was the mint mojito that was iced. I liked it this way because after a workout I was still exhausted and hot from everything so having a nice cool refreshing drink really helps. I also tried their vegan donut I believe it was coconut flavored and it was also pretty good. I can't believe it's dairy free actually it totally taste like they put milk in this. Next time when I'm back I do want to try their blueberry flavored one. Parking was really easy and the line in the morning was not bad at all!! I placed an order for pick up and arrived at the store. I understand that it was busy when I initially arrived and they even apologized for being busy. But it started to die down later and I still don't understand why it took me an hour to receive my order. The baristas were too busy talking to their friends, dancing, making jokes. If it's so busy then why are they all chilling as if they have all the time in the world? I even asked about my order multiple times and they kept pushing it off. It's a good spot to hang out and study in between things in Fullerton, so I love bringing my stuff and getting to work. I absolutely love this place! All their coffees are delicious. The only reason I subtracted a star is because they have a drive thru. I know what you're thinking why would you subtract a star for having a drive thru? Well, unfortunately the drive thru is only for people who have already ordered through the app and are just picking up. I was waiting in the drive thru line for a while with a few cars in front of me when I was told I couldn't order there and had to come inside. I had two kids with me and didn't want to go through the trouble of carrying a car seat and a wild toddler, which is why I decided to try the drive thru...that was very inconvenient. Anyhow, they should allow anyone to use this convenient way for ordering and not just pick up orders because it defeats the purpose of having one. Anyway, ok the coffee. I love their iced chai tea. I normally don't do sweet drinks but this one tastes the best when it's sweet and creamy. Their mint mojito is also a big hit. You must try the tesora too. This one tastes great iced or hot. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.. I loved this franchise and was my go-to coffee shop near my school. With all this COVID-19, they're only operating for certain hours and only pick-up orders. So today at 10:15, I picked up 2 large size Mint Mojito from them and was so excited since I didn't have their coffee in a while... As I was enjoying the coffee and by the time I drank most of them, something went it my mouth I thought it was mint leaf but IT WAS NOT!!! It was a dead fly in there!!! I'll upload a picture here. This review is for both their coffee and their service, but their service drove me to pull out my phone and write this as I'm waiting for my coffee. Erica, the manager on shift, went above and beyond for me and can teach people a thing or two about customer service. We ordered through Postmates this morning and they got two of the drinks wrong. Postmates would only provide a $2 refund, even after I tried escalating the issue. I called Philz to explain what happened, and Erica was extremely apologetic and explained what she could and couldn't do to make things right. She said if I was in the area I could stop by and she'd remake the drinks. Since I ordered through Postmates, she wouldn't be able to offer a refund. When we arrived to pickup the new drinks, she offered a pastry on the house for our trouble. The iced rose latte and iced mojito were excellent as always, after they remade them of course. I've never had their pastries, but the pumpkin muffin she offered tasted great and we will order it again the next time we are there. Finally got an great opportunity to try Philz Coffee which they just opened recently in the Fullerton section of Orange County. This is the closest Philz that I can get to. I've heard great things about Philz Coffee from Queenie (fellow yelper and coffee connoisseur). As I walk inside the building for the very first time, the inside was real nice. Caffeine: Ordered an mocha tesora (hot) which was highly recommended by an barista who made my drink, light on the sweet. As soon I got my order, the barista made sure that I like the drink. I took a sip, and I was impressed. Excellent quality and temperature of my drink. Really good for the first try. Service: Really love the service here. Becca (barista) did an amazing job taking care of me and the drink. One of the nicest barista I've ever met in an long time. That's what I called great customer service. Seating: It can get crowded (mainly students) since this place is by Cal State Fullerton, which means that the seating can be filled up quickly. A great majority of their locations are in Northern California, a few have opened up in Southern California, and they're recently branching out to Washington DC. This is the third location I've been to. This location is located across from the first Pieology location. They have a variety of coffee drinks. They serve dark roast, medium roast, light roast, decaf, speciality coffee, and tea. They have a few drinks listed under each category. I ordered a Large Iced Mint Mojito. It was minty, sweet, and creamy just like their description of the drink. The coffee flavor was definitely bold and strong. The minty flavor from the mint leaves made it refreshing. Service was remarkably friendly. Was greeted warmly upon reaching the counter and the cashier on the other side of the restaurant was also amiable. It was rather warm inside the coffee shop. The aroma of coffee beans was also incredibly strong throughout the place. The seating area was fully packed with some individuals on laptops and others just enjoying casual conversations. Even though I'm not a coffee connoisseur, nor even a regular coffee drinker, I love the iced drinks at Philz. My wife first turned me onto its Mint Mojito about a year ago, and I've been wanting to visit a Philz location since then. I just never got around to it since most of the locations were far. Now that this location has opened up, I can visit more frequently. Mint Mojito is what most people get here but I actually like the Gingersnap slightly more. This is one of its other extra $1 drinks that's iced and flavored. I wasn't too sure about this drink at first because I"m not a fan of gingersnap cookies, which taste rather artificial most of the time. This one tastes like it's made with real ginger and fresh spices. The flavor is subtle, but still noticeable, and is infused very well with its coffee. It's creamy, slightly sweet, with a nice aroma. Mint Mojito is a very refreshing coffee drink with a slightly sweet taste, but I really like the kick of ginger in Gingersnap. Next time I will try the Mocha Tesora, which is made with dark chocolate, caramel, and cocoa. The ordering and payment process was a little weird for me because I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do after I placed my order with a barista. I didn't realize there was a cashier all the way on the far right side of the building. Some people were paying for their drinks after they were made, and some people paid as soon as they placed their order. The barista didn't give me a printout or any indication of what I ordered so I could've easily lied to the cashier. It almost seemed like this place was using the honor system. Yay!! Let us rejoice! Philz has finally opened in north OC!! I used to drive all the way out to LA just for an Iced Mint Mojito and finally they have one in Fullerton that super convenient for me to frequent. This location is larger than their other locations but they are also busier than other locations with the college student population nearby. I wouldn't expect to find a seat here. It was very loud so I wouldn't recommend studying here either. The ambiance is more for hanging out and socializing. Coffee Prices: $3.50/small $4.50/large extra $1 for Iced Mint Mojito and Mocha Tesora I highly recommend the items I listed as $1 extra. Those 2 items are the house favorites. If I had to pick a favorite between the two I would have to pick the Iced Mint Mojito. When made standard it is sweet and creamy, but you can ask for adjustments if you have preferences otherwise. The mint flavor is surprisingly subtle but still present with each sip. I LOVE it!! You order with the barista and then you ring up at the cashier. Both my barista and the cashier were super nice. I also noticed that they had a huge display case with many breads and baked goods options. Just a warning, the food seemed to be on the pricier side... for instance $4.50-$5.50 for their toasts O_O That better be some good toast. Impressive, the mint mojito was better than i expected. I think i paid $5 for it. It basically tastes like a low intensity espresso infused with fresh mint leaves topped over ice. None if the ingredients are overwhelming. Note when you go through the drive thru you place ypur order at the window and the barista will have you check it so they can make adjustments before you pay. Now THAT is service! read more

I usually have a great experience at this Philz. However, I recently went in and saw the manager, an older lady, being rude to one of the workers. I was waiting for my drink when I heard the manager yell at an employee, not sure what was being yelled, but it was very off putting. I find it hard to want to support places that treat their employees like that. However, the coffee is always good and usually the service is fine, but the manager left a bad taste in my mouth as someone who works in the service industry. read more

For my first visit, I let the barista know because I was not too sure how to order off the menu and she really went out of her way to explain to me and even ask me questions about my preference in coffee, I wish I got her name because she was so helpful and really made my first time there really great! I tried the Philz in LA yesterday, but I found out they have another branch in Fullerton. I decided to go and try their mint mojito again but this time with cream and sugar. It's better than when I tried it without cream or sugar. Its like the sweetness brought out the mint flavor even more! I also ordered the Philz bagel (everything bagel, cream cheese, cucumbers and tomato) it was pricey ($6) but yummy :) The service was fast and they were friendly. The place is big, but there's too many people. Most of them are in college because the universities are just close by. The ambiance is good for studying tho. read more

Many years ago, I tried Philz Coffee for the first time in NorCal and have been hooked ever since. Sadly, I rarely get a chance to indulge in Philz because for the longest time, the closest location was in Santa Monica...but luckily that is no longer the case!!! I'm so glad that Philz is here in North OC because we definitely need more great coffee shops :) I went to the soft opening today and I must say it was one of the best openings I've ever been to for a food establishment! Although the line was pretty long, the employees were extremely efficient and did a great job of whipping up custom drinks in a timely manner. I really enjoyed my iced Mint Mojito with vanilla soy milk - it was creamy, smooth, not overly sweet and downright refreshing! I also tried a wide variety of pastries, including their avocado toast, mini croissants (ham & cheese, chocolate, almond), mini muffins (bran & blueberry), and cookies (white chocolate macadamia & chocolate chip) - they were all delicious and just the right size to satisfy a craving! Everything was complimentary, which I thought was an extremely generous gesture and really reflects how much they genuinely care about the community! Besides serving up delicious drinks and pastries, the ambiance is really relaxing and has a cool vibe to it. I love how they have tons of seating and games to play with, as it actually makes for a pretty kid-friendly environment, which is always a plus for parents who desperately need their caffeine fix! I am really blown away by this location, as it is well-organized, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location truly couldn't be better since it's so centralized! THANK YOU, PHILZ for finally opening a location near me. Philz was a must whenever I was in the Bay area. Then they opened one in Santa Monica but was still very inconvenient for me. But alas! Ever since this location opened, I've been there every Saturday. My favorite is forever and always Tantalizing Turkish with very light cream, no sugar. I've had every single coffee here, and they're all very good, but I always come back to the Turkish. Get yourself a Turkish and the Philz bagel, you won't regret it. The way you order is a little different from other places. Get in line to place your order with the barista, then walk on down to the register to pay. After that, come back and get your drink from your barista when it's ready. Employees are super sweet and baristas remember you. Sometimes lines do get long, but seems like they are pretty efficient at getting the lines moving. Parking kind of sucks here during weekends, seats inside are very limited, but there's usually something that'll open up... and hopefully they get the curtains up soon. read more

It was near the campus, but also near our hotel and since my colleague that came with me loves morning coffee, we stopped by so he could try theirs out. A new Philz is in the house! Or more specifically, the city of Fullerton, which has seen a growing coffee scene within the last 5 years. I've been a fan of Philz Coffee since I first had it in San Francisco years ago and I became quickly enamored with their great, friendly service, quirky sense of style, and awesome menu of coffee and coffee based drinks, specifically their sweetened Mint Mojito and Mocha Tesora beverages. This newest Philz is no exception to those traits but it is much larger than other Philz Coffees - it may not have the urban charm or the Pasadena or DTLA stores, or the beachside view of the one in Huntington Beach, but it's very spacious and has a very well lit interior. In addition, all drinks seem to be a $1 less than what other Philz Coffee stores are charging but I'm unsure (at the time of this review) whether that is promotional pricing or not. Anyways, if you're along State College and you need that caffeine fix, make sure to stop and grab some coffee here and if you feel like blowing some money on one of the smoothest coffees ever, get the Blue Jamaican! read more

The dream is almost here. The final step is if you open up in Rowland Heights(which I've said for YEARS since I've become a Philz coffee fan) and even said that eventually you'll just take over the starbucks down my house which end up being The Halal Guys haha. I'll even take it if you just open up in Brea(that's close enough). With that said, I think this Philz is gonna be populated like crazy. Super close to CSUF but this location is very spacey. I think it's the most weird looking Philz I've seen because it doesn't really seem that fitting. It would be really unique if they decide to take on the drive-thru since they opened it up in a drive thru store(KFC?)...so if they ever decide to do that, they would be super packed. All the workers are friendly here. It's nice, clean and there's nice couches and chairs/tables to sit on. Not overly crowded like the one in San Fran! Love the iced mint coffee and the Ethiopian pour over. Even the decaf Ethiopian was nice and bold! Tried the avocado toast with egg on top. It was very good. Can't wait to try the other food menu options! They seem very dog friendly with a water bowl outside and dog treats inside. Not sure if dogs are allowed in..? Haven't seen one inside yet. One was tethered outside so I'm assuming they can't come in since they serve food? Too bad! Wish there was outdoor seating! The weather is always nice around here to sit outside.
