My friend and I each ordered an 85° hot coffee. I clearly told the cashier, Vanessa (the name listed on my receipt), that mine shouldbe decaf with no sugar. She asked my friend if she wanted any adjustments, and my friend replied, "No adjustments." When we received our drinks, my friend's coffee had no sugar. I brought it back to thecounter and waited while Vanessa finishedhelping another customer. Afterward, she walked away without acknowledging me, and Ihad to say "Excuse me" twice before sheresponded. When I explained the mistake, she said, "You said no sugar." I clarified that my coffee was the one that should have no sugar, while my friend's coffee was supposed to have no changes. She took the coffee back appearing irritated and spoke with the barista. The waythe situation was handled made me feel dismissed and uncomfortable. Mistakes happen, but I hope the staff, Vanessa, can communicate more clearly with customers and handle these situations with more courtesy and professionalism. read more

I was so excited to have a location open so close to me and hadn't had a chance to visit. It was one of my team members birthday and I decided to take a cake from here since I love them and they are reasonably priced for the size and quality. I wanted to buy the red velvet one or the mango mousse since those tend to be liked by most people. They have plenty of parking available at the front which is great. Once you enter, to the left you have what seems to be a coffee shop area that I don't think I had seen at other locations. You have your regular area with the trays to serve yourself what you want and the refrigerated section. It seems like you order your coffee in the regular line they just serve it on the other side. When it came to whole cakes, they had a very limited selection which was disappointing since I came in the morning around 9am. I was determined to leave with a cake so I chose one from the selection. I ended up choosing the mocha cake. I had never tried it and wasn't sure how it was going to be. Unsurprisingly, it was a hit with everyone liking it! It had a really good espresso flavor to it that balanced really well with the hint of chocolate and vanilla cake. The fruit at the top was very fresh and tasty. Sharon, at the register, exceeded my expectations. Quick story...I asked her for a drip coffee; however, she explained they only serve specialty coffees. What impressed me the most was she took the time to ask why I wanted a drip coffee and then proceeded to suggest something close to it. For her to find a solution was brilliant! I've visited this 85°C Bakery twice now and have been impressed with the service both times. I was helped by the same gentleman at the front on each visit, and he was consistently friendly and welcoming. On the most recent visit, I stopped in just a few minutes after opening. The bakery was about half stocked, with pastries still being prepared and packaged in the kitchen. We asked about a couple of items that weren't out yet, and the gentleman kindly went to the back to grab them for us. I do wish all items were available right at opening, as there was one pastry we were hoping for that wouldn't be ready for another 1-2 hours. We were looking for a different bakery to sit and do homework, and happened upon 85 Degrees. It definitely suits our needs. Here are the highlights: ***Ube bread: They have the most delicious Ube bread that my son really loves. I took the tiniest bite and had to close my eyes for a second to absorb all that was this bread. The Ube flavor is of course delicious but it's combined with this flavor I remember from my childhood, when my Aunt use to bring me honey buns...it's divine ***They have great coffee. I've been getting a decaf Americano and they pop two splenda in it for me before putting on the plastic sheath that I stab my straw into. ***They have a little bar area to sit and it's perfect my little guy to do his homework and still have room for a cold milk and his treat. ***The bathroom is clean and big. I've been twice now--once during the soft opening the week before Christmas, and again this week for the official opening with giveaways. I got a cute bag - yippee!!! The first visits was disappointing since it was very limited items and tonight was some crowded (expected for a new location), but the experience was solid overall. On grand opening day, bakery had a great selection, everything looked fresh, and the staff handled the crowds well. My only real complaint is the layout: the kiosk and drink pickup area is right by the entrance, which causes a bottleneck. With people waiting for drinks and others trying to enter or exit, it gets pretty crowded and chaotic near the door. Arrived here at 8:12 a.m. to see barely a line out the door and there was already guest inside. Parked and realized that Saturday & Sunday they open at 8 a.m. Mee, my daughter and my hubby were starting at # 60 so we made the cut. I love the idea they gave us # stickers to identify what # guest we were for the 1st 100 to receive drink vouchers for next time visit. Associates were really friendly during the rush hour of opening and managed the busy hustle. Lines were moving quickly and the bakery cafe was in good shape, nicely stoked and presentably clean. This time the baked bread & majority all of the goods were fully stocked. We got our drinks in a timely manner. A new item i got this time to try. ~ Taro RoLL was ok, a friend of mine got it and recommended it. I felt it was a tad bit sweet along the taro filling was more like a paste. Too thick for my liking but then again, their taro items are like that. Much on the thicker side. ~ sea salt coffee in hot is good. It is on the sweeter side so I'd suggest asking for half sweeten. ~ Passion Fruit Green tea is good. Asked for 50% sweetness but it's still pretty sweet. ~ Tiger boba latte is good but a bit overly sweet. If you love really sweet drinks. The boba was a bit hard not soft at all. Disappointing indeed. Their pastry/bread are all usually yummy. Can't go wrong a long w the prices and their drinks too! It's really good. The bakery had a simple design like how all of the 85 degrees bakery were. We received a reusable tote with any purchase along a cute 85 degrees California design mug w a $ 25 + purchase. A new 85 location, but now in Brea. They seem to still be learning the ropes since it's a new store, but at my recent visit, it was pretty much standard counter service. This location is much smaller compared to their earlier shops. Think they're opening smaller stores now to fill in the 85 gaps. But hey, an 85 in Brea is something to celebrate about! They had very limited selection of pastries and had to substitute them for whatever they had. They didn't have much of the savory breads, like the ham and cheese, so definitely missed out. Hopefully, they'll add more baked items at this shop. I ordered their BOGO drinks and got their Vietnamese Coffee. It was pretty good and was strong. Just the way I like it. Their cashier person was super bubbly and friendly. He was probably the life of the shop that day to be honest. The drinks station young lady was on her own, but was cranking out all the drink orders and was also friendly. In all, it was a good first visit. Will come back next time! read more

Finally we get our own 85 degrees bakery in Brea, when their own HQ is located in Brea the whole time. This location is relatively small compare to other spots. So when the other reviewer mentioned seating area was 5 spots, that's exactly what it is. I would describe this place as 85 Degrees Mini/express, but they do offer most of the bread items. At least 15+ different types to select. There are two stations for ordering drinks specifically on huge digital screens, that way you don't need to wait in the standard line with bakery item purchases. Bathroom requires a code... first time seeing that in the city of Brea. I usually think of Brea not requiring that level of security. Lastly, the bag rule is in effect. When they ask if you want it in the bag or box, there is a very small fee involved. I put the blame on the state for this goofy law and not on the bakery itself. I miss the "Fresh Bread!" Greetings from before when 85 degrees started opening their locations, hope they bring this back. This is a good alternative to other local bakeries, which have more of the traditional Taiwanese style breads vs French style or Spanish styles. A few weeks ago, I had an offer on the app and it just happened that this location was conveniently on my route. As I pulled into a parking spot, I saw a banner for "Grand Opening." I guess this location just recently opened a few weeks ago. Since it was early evening, there were not that many customers in the store, but there was plenty of bread and pastries available. I was able to place my drink order via the kiosk and it was ready within a matter of minutes. Sea Salt Coffee Sweetened Americano with sea salt whipped cream. From Imperial Highway, one may not notice 85°C Bakery Cafe because the back of the store is directly opposite of the McDonald's. The parking lot is one way in some aisles, so please be sure to check the ground for arrows. I haven't have a chance to stop by again since my initial visit, but it is convenient for those who live in the area. This location is a bit smaller than their other locations, but I feel most people grab and go anyways. read more

It was my first time ordering cake here, and the pickup process was thankfully easy. I ordered an eight-inch mango brûlée cake online for a birthday. There was a free option to add a chocolate birthday greeting on the cake. My favorite part of the cake was the mango mousse. When chilled, it gave a nicely sweet and refreshing flavor to the cake. However, we noticed that the mangoes left a sour aftertaste. I also had some other breads and a drink. The Hawaiian chicken bread tasted good as usual. I've had it multiple times in the past, and it reminds me of pizza with chicken. The bacon and cheese bread was unfortunately oily, so I wouldn't have that one again. This location is okay. The selection of breads are okay, but I have noticed a few times I've been where some of the breads are incredibly toasted, borderline almost burnt. Unfortunately this makes for very dry bread, which isn't the quality I expect. Also, there's not a huge selection here and they tend to run out of popular items. I find it hard to get certain items every visit and there's always items that are sold out and doesn't seem to get replenished, and/or bit too toasty. Some items also don't look very fresh and some have tasted stale. It's a hit or miss honestly. It also seems to take a very long time to get drinks here. Even if I'm getting just one drink, I sometimes wait 15 to 25 minutes for a sea salt jasmine tea. It's my favorite drink to get at 85°C, but the long wait times every time I've gotten a drink is a bit off-putting. There's also a lack of organization when it comes to drink numbers. I've had a couple incidents where someone else grabbed my drink because they didn't know what their order number was. In terms of seating, there isn't really any seating, just a bar-like corner in the back corner of the shop. It's not much of a sit down place like other 85°C locations, more so grab and go. Overall, my experience with this location has been okay so far. I still return when I want something but as the selections aren't the most fresh/in stock (in the times I have been), it doesn't make me excited to return like I have been with other 85°C locations. read more

Great selection of breads and pastries, baked fresh every morning. 85 degrees Celsius is named such because it is the optimal temperature to brew coffee and release its deepest flavors. I love their sea salt coffee and come here weekly~ the bakery is super consistent and delivers above its competitors. This particular location is smaller and there is no seating, unlike the Chino and former Fullerton locations. But the food and drinks are the same high quality. Breads are fresh, soft, pillowy, not too sweet, and flavorful. Drinks can be adjusted for sweetness. They have monthly promos, and I always use the app for generous rewards. Favorite breads: Salted butter bread Garlic cheese Hawaiian chicken Marble taro Egg tart Bolo bao White toast Best drinks: Sea salt coffee - standout drink Lychee green milk tea - discontinued but hoping they'll bring it back I will say the reason why I think it doesn't have 5 stars (compared to other fusion bakeries like Paris Baguette, Tous Les Jous, Mr Baker, etc) is because these are Korean fusion bakeries and culturally, Koreans actively promote Korean businesses. 85C is a bakery that originated in Taiwan. Out of the above, I'd say 85C is on par with PB and Tous but in a different category because it leans Latino rather than French. 85C is to Porto's as Paris Baguette is to Tous Les Jours. The only knock is the small size which doesn't have a seating area, but I can take it to go so it's fine. Check it out! There is ample parking and the location is convenient. 85 Degrees Bakery, this location seriously needs to do better. We stopped by around 1:30 pm on a Sunday, and some of the pastries looked like they'd been sitting there since early morning. How do you expect to keep things fresh until closing if you only bake once a day? The staff flat-out told me everything is baked in the morning. The pastries also tasted sweeter than what I've had at other 85 Degrees locations. The inconsistency is not a good start. This is petty, but I spent around $40 on pastries and still had to pay $0.10 for a bag or $0.15 for a box. That alone is enough to make me think twice about coming back. Grocery stores have been warning customers forever to bring their own bags or expect to pay. So what is this? Is 85 Degrees Bakery passing the cost onto customers, or is this just another sneaky way to make extra money? read more
