I stopped by this Philz Coffee location hoping to get work done and it was honestly not the best location. Though they have free, fast WiFi and plenty of tables, most of the tables were occupied when I arrived. Only one table was located near a power outlet and the group that was seated there looked like they had been camped out there all day. While the background music in the cafe is not particularly loud, the sound of conversation from so many different groups is definitely a distraction if you're trying to get deep-work done inside. That said, there are a few tables outside that are significantly quieter if you're trying to hop on a Zoom call. I would definitely recommend bringing along your noise-cancelling headphones along if you intend to sit around for a while indoors. There is a single bathroom stall near the back and while it's not the cleanest, it gets the job done. Overall, if you're in this area and are looking for a spot to get some work done, I would walk a few shops down and head to Fieldworks instead. read more

Alright, I give - I get the Philz hype! This is the second time and second location of Philz I've been to and it's my favorite location so far! Stopped by on a Friday morning around 10am before heading into SF and was greeted with a bright, pleasant interior. With high-vaulted ceilings, colorful walls and artwork, it's not just the drinks that are a morning pick-me-up! This place was full of people, but the line went by pretty fast and our drinks were made in a timely manner. 〰 Mint Mojito, the house way (10/10): When you hear Philz, you probably think of a Mint Mojito - and reasonably so! This drink is so incredibly refreshing. The mint adds such a pleasant complimentary flavor to the coffee. 〰 Iced Coffee Rose, creamy creamy and extra sweet (10/10): Incredible. I love rose flavored things and having it in coffee? Game changer. I do tend to like my coffee on the sweeter side and when I asked for it extra sweet, the baristas made it perfectly! I would get this again and again. 〰 Bacon and Egg Burrito (8/10): Solid burrito! Not the best breakfast burrito I've ever had, but I wasn't expecting it to be. It still hit the spot and if you're looking for a quick breakfast alongside your cup o' joe, this is a good option! No complaints here. They offer hot sauce packets alongside it! Service here is great. Baristas are super friendly and super accommodating. My boyfriend wanted his mint mojito a tad bit sweeter and the barista gladly adjusted it to his liking! This review is for the staff! Philz drinks are always excellent (I'm partial to sweet and creamy anything), but the people are even greater. This happened a few months ago, and I still remember it! My 6 month old was in the swatting-everything phase, and she suddenly swung at my husband's hot chai tea latte (he only took one sip!). It spilled everywhere and a Philz employee immediately came with a broom and said "Chai latte right? I'll make you another one!" Mind you, the cafe was super busy. I've been visiting this location more often, because the vibes are modern and chill. For the past year or so of living in the east bay, I've visited the Fremont location multiple times. However, I just discovered that San Ramon is actually closer to me. That is a bonus reason to come here. I've lived off of Philz ever since my college days back at SJSU. I've got to say my faves are 1.) philtered soul 2.) mint mojito 3.) mocha tesora. All of which are ordered with light cream and light sugar. I am in San Ramon everyday and I started going to this Philz when it first opened. It was good for a little while amd steadily started going downhill in both service and quality. It became so bad that I simply deleted the app. and got my fix elsewhere. After a couple years of this I finally tried one more time today and was reminded of why I stopped going here in the first place. The service is slow, and disorganized. The barista that is supposed to be making your drink is very rarely the person that puts your drink on the bar. The baristas are not courteous at all. I could look past all of this if the coffee was good/the order was correct but that is rarely the case. I do visit other philz locations from time to time and they don't seem to suffer from these problems as much. This location is a bit of a bummer and there's other options around that I don't need to deal with it. read more

My second home when I'm in San Ramon. I am a fan of Philz so you know I am there anytime I have to be. Conveniently located in Bishop Ranch, there is lots of parking surrounding Philz. Quick tip- there is also a parking garage in Bishop Ranch that I normally park when I don't want to be driving around looking for parking also. Another tip is online ordering if you have the app. You can pre order and it will be ready once you find parking. Philz coffee has always been my favorite, the Mint Mojito is my absolute favorite, They are fast, and they prepare your coffee in front of you. You have the option to taste it before you leave or sit back down in the Coffee Shop. When you order at the front, you tell them your size of the drink, and if you want it extra creamy or no sweet. They also have pastries available there, as well as their store if you need Coffee Beans to brew at home. Amazing Coffee, I also recommend Iced Ecstatic also! I will be back! One of my favorite Philz locations in the Bay Area since they have consistently made my Mocha Tesora's tasty. This location can sometimes be hit or miss since in the mornings the parking lot is usually extremely empty. Although if you were to try and park during the daytime hours, it'll be packed and you usually have to park in the parking garage or across the street near the business buildings. I've only ordered one drink which is a Mocha Tesora and can't get enough of it. Every order has been consistently sweet, creamy, iced, and made on time without fail. Even if you're in the area shopping around, it's always nice to grab a drink before heading out or preorder through the app before you park. This location has great natural lighting and such a huge space that allows a good number of ppl to have open seating and ability to work on laptops with multiple areas of wall outlets. My usual order is a Large Mint Mojito Iced coffee with almond w/3 Splendas but today I ordered their Winterbliss: A Gratutude Blend coffee with Hot Ghiradelli Cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg. We had our drink made by Anthony and it was super perfect. Anthony made sure we tasted our drinks and asked if we can confirm it's perfectly made before leaving so he can accommodate and provide us the best service. I was so excited to see a Philz at City Center Bishop Ranch after grabbing lunch in the area. It was a Saturday afternoon and this place was packed. The line was consistently busy but moved quickly and the cashier was very sweet. The baristas on the other hand were a little cranky but it's understandable. Hopefully these guys can take their breaks! I ordered my tried true, Philtered Soul, and I take it Philz Way (medium sweet and creamy). It was surprisingly on the more acidic side here. Definitely tasted different than what I'm used to at other locations, but not bad. Again, it was super busy so I waited around 10 min for two drinks. It's super noisy so I couldn't imagine being able to study or anything like that here either. They have ample seating and tables both inside and outside the shop. read more

San Ramon City Center and the nearby Bishop Ranch Shops next door has a Philz, Peets, and at least two Starbucks all walking distance. In making and selling products, businesses often only excel in two out of the three areas: cheap, fast, and good. I think Philz is definitely good, but they're not the cheapest and are definitely the slowest. If quality is your top criteria, then that's fine. Philz's Iced Mint Mojito and Mission Cold Brew (MCB) are excellent and unique. Their hot coffees are great as well and have really good descriptions for flavor and aromas. Lastly, their pastries tend to be fancier than either SB or Peet's. Definitely enjoy Philz if I have the time. But if I'm in a rush and need caffeine asap, it'll still be SB or Peet's. This evening I went to pick up my order and an incredibly sweet woman with a genuine kindness who knows I am a sped teacher always takes the time to ask me how I am. Philz has been my go to coffee place for the last few years and I was so happy when we recently moved that there would be one close by. I used to input my order as "medium" sweet and but since coming to this location, I have to put as "sweet" and I still don't taste the sweetness and have to take the time to ask them to fix it. I don't think there's a consistent recipe (number of tea/tablespoons?) when someone wants medium or sweet coffee, just depends whose working. The drinks have been tasting watered down. When at home, I put a teaspoon of brown sugar and thats usually enough. Additionally, as a recent review mentioned, seems they're always short staffed. I always order ahead of time and it's never ready at the time it gives in the app unless I show up 10+ mins late. I was told at a different location that the order queue is automated but other locations seem to always have it ready. Otherwise, great location. read more

So my first time trying Phillz was YEARS ago when I used to work during the holidays in SF and they had trucks on Stockton street. So coming to one after so long was like a new experience. I was greeted by the cashier girl. Adrienne. She recommended two drinks since I asked for something that wasn't too bitter but had the caffeine I needed. Honey haze sweet and creamy. Or a soul train sweet plus and extra creamy. I opted for the honey haze. And it was delicious. Her recommendation was on the dot. And the way she helped explain the difference and how to customize my coffee was very kind and informative. The coffee is great. This experience is a classic case of how a favorite spot can become disappointing. Incorrect menu ingredients paired with poor customer service have tainted my view of Philz Coffee. Recently, I began working nearby and quickly became a regular, often ordering their mint mojito iced coffee--sometimes twice daily. However, today, May 7, 2024, I encountered a problem. I ordered a hot Philharmonic coffee through the Philz app, which listed the ingredients as "Tesora, cardamom, and mint." Yet, while waiting at the store, I noticed the in-store menu listed "hints of maple and cardamom" for the same coffee. I have a strong aversion to maple. I questioned a female barista about the discrepancy. She disinterestedly remarked that it was just a "hint of maple" and that I probably couldn't taste it, before dismissing me to return to her tasks. This response was frustrating, as I value consistency and honesty from the businesses I support. The situation escalated when my coffee was ready. After tasting it and detecting maple, I returned it to Jeremiah, explaining my issue with the unlisted ingredient on their in-store menu. Both Jeremiah and another staff member, Shane, were present; Jeremiah was understanding and accepted the return, but Shane insisted, "Well, maple is in the blend, and you can't tell either." This inconsistency between their app and in-store menus suggests deception to either their in-store customers or app users. Upset, particularly because it was nearly time for my work at 8 AM, and already 7:50 AM, I rejected Shane's offer for a different coffee since I wasn't offered a refund and decided I would instead contact my bank over the matter, as this experience was absolutely unacceptable. As I left, a rude remark was made by the staff, though I couldn't discern exactly what was said. Philz could have been my go-to coffee shop indefinitely. However, poor customer service and dishonesty about product ingredients have significantly marred my patronage. I've included photos showing the differing ingredient lists from the app and in-store menu below. Additionally, the consistency of their iced Mint Mojito is lacking. I regularly order this specific drink through the Philz app, always with sweet Splenda. However, the quality varies significantly; one day it might be too watery, while on another, the sweetness levels differ noticeably. It seems there is no strict recipe adherence, and the baristas might be using estimation rather than precise measurements. This lack of consistency in preparation detracts from the overall experience in addition to today's extremely poor experience. Note: I did not call my bank. If I could put no stars, I would. I usually go to this location, I'm very disheartened that I'll never be coming back or support this location ever again. Pre-ordered a coffee & the new ham sandwhich. Upon my arrival, I noticed they were out of the food item. Asked if they could switch to a burrito, they let me know they'd do that right away. After asking two times, barista re-assured me it was being made. I noticed the barista ask minutes later, if the person handling food items had put it in (3rd time, where's the communication?) Wasted at least 20 minutes on a food item I never got. Still have yet to be refunded after I demanded & left after wasting so much of my time. Seeing at least 10 people walk in & get their food item. Not only did they waste my time, they made me late for work when I showed up with plenty of time for a mishap that I didn't even presume would happen. I believe the manager was also there, doing nothing but popping in & out of the back. Don't know how much help that was for the busy baristas. Do yourself a favor & DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Wow never been to philzs... I know crazy, so I decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the interior was brightly colored and gentle jazz music playing with tons of comfy seats and chairs to sit in. How inviting! A big plus, was the cleanliness and how spotless everything was inside which is a big plus and tells you alot about any business. So I looked around and decided a nice cold chai latte would do the trick for an end of the day pick up and it just did that! Drinks: 1. Iced Chai latte small size {4/5 stars, $3.85} - A surprising tasty drink with subtle hints of mint and cardamom. Almost tasted like pumpkin spice latte to me. Delicious. Exceeded my expectations. Wish there was less ice and it be 5 stars. Service: I heard from reading reviews this location takes a while for walk in orders as well as online orders, but oh well. I decided to take a go at it and waited about 10 minutes for my drink with 2 others in front of me. More time to relax. Cashier was really friendly and knew the menu well, baristas not so friendly... Came in around 7:45pm ish (they close at 8pm) to take a bag of coffee home for our new coffee machine. We had some questions regarding the beans they use for certain Philz drinks they make, but before I could ask my question, the barista at the counter immediately told us "sorry bar is already closed, we aren't taking any more orders" I was surprised they stopped taking orders so early since there were no signs at the door or anywhere that indicated they stop making drinks before the closing hours. From what i remember, Starbucks makes drinks up until they actually close. Although it wasn't much of a big deal for us, we witnessed another customer picking up their drink from the counter and did not like it. The barista told them they could not remake their drink since the bar was already closed for the day and offered to refund instead. The customer didn't seem happy but they didn't say much. I have been a die-hard fan of Philz and was stoked when I found out that they were finally coming to San Ramon. I personally feel that Philz has the best coffee around and its been confirmed by non-coffee drinkers who I have been able to convince to try Philz. I love all their bold and dark coffees though a lot of times I do end up getting Silken Splendor, Tesora and Philtered Soul from the medium ones. Great selection of pastries as well. read more

Never had a issue at this location but standing in line for 10 minutes (and being completely ignored) while employees came in and out of the back, looked at us, didn't say a word, then went back to doing nothing is just bad customer service. When we were finally served there was no "thank you for waiting" just a cold demeanor. To top it of the person making our coffee was rude as well! Came here to try their oatmeal cookie cold brew, and it's definitely my favorite drink they've put out so far. There's usually a wait time, which can be 15 min or so if there's a line of people. There are an array of tables, couches, and outdoor seating, which are great places to study. read more
