There's always a long line so it does take a bit of time to get your orders. I have tried working here twice and it's tough bc there's few outlets, so come with your devices charged. Didn't know the Philz here opened up. I am glad that Bishop Ranch is getting a lot of nice places for food and drinks. I usually get my Mint Mojito, but decided to try my other go to drink instead. I ordered on the app, and was told my drink would be ready in 20 minutes. I just walked around the place until my time would be up. I arrived about a minute early but it was beyond crowded there. I'm here every weekend! Such a nice space- huge windows for natural lighting, rotating local artists displayed in the walls, and a variety of seating (+ a bathroom!). There is often a long line, but it goes by pretty fast and is worth it. All the baristas are so kind and are quick to help alter any drink order if it needs it. I love a classic philtered soul or a coffee rosé. Plenty of alternative milks offered for no extra cost. The pastries are from Starter Bakery in Berkeley- you have to try the chocolate babka and the bacon cheddar croissant! Overall, super consistent and the best place to get coffee in San Ramon. Finally! The East Bay and especially the Tri-Valley always seems to be last to open trending stores after the rest of the Bay Area. Like a pincer maneuver, eateries usually open shop in San Francisco first then work their way around the Bay. More locations open down the Peninsula to San Jose before working their way up thru Fremont or Hayward. The other way from San Francisco they cross the Bay Bridge to Oakland or the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin or Sonoma. Either way they move into the East Bay in Walnut Creek before finally opening shop in the Tri-Valley. Philz opened last year and it is a welcome addition to the area. Despite the awful parking lot, I have braved the terrible traffic flow for a cup of their yummy coffee. Service is slower because hello, pour over coffee, so be patient. And those expectations will be blown. Quality takes time and the extra minutes are worth it. Working my way thru both the beverage and food menus. Favorites so far include the mocha, wonderbar, hot chocolate drinks and chocolate babka pastry. read more

Another Philz location in the Bay Area, in a place with horrible parking. A lot of it, but always seems to be unavailable especially whenever I'm craving coffee in the area. They do have online ordering, but there have been plenty times where I tried to order and they would have it shut down for no reason. I will get to the store and the staff would be confused about why the app would not take orders. The wait gets pretty long and it is not as ran as other locations. But glad that there is a Philz finally in the area. Luckily, the pricing doesn't change from location to location. It always smells great inside a Philz and they have a bathroom here. It is good for hanging out, but it gets really loud if you are trying to study. It is a good location in the corner with limited outdoor seating and super large windows for some great natural light! read more

Was honestly surprised to read some of the reviews I did after my visit here today around 5:30pm. I have no complaints! The location is on the outside of the City Center next to the parking lot (re: convenient). It has a nice open floor area with order table near the middle and the actual coffee bar in the back. Plenty of space and even a couple of couches to wait at while orders are being prepared. Ordered in-store. There was no wait, social distancing was enforced, employees were helpful when I didn't know what to get, and both mine and my friend's drinks came out quickly. I got an Ether Iced Coffee with light cream and sugar, and was pleased with the taste and quality! Granted I'm not a huge Philz drinker in general and this was my first time taking my coffee iced, but it tasted good to me. Also can't comment on the mobile order experience since it sounds like there a few kinks to work out from other reviews, but I enjoyed my visit today start to finish! Ahhhh yes!! Finally a Philz near me!! I come here a few times a week and never disappointed. Some of my favorites include: Mint mojito- if you're not a fan of mint, pass on this. It's good iced, I get mine with less ice & sugar. Philtered Soul- on the stronger end for me, I get this when I need a real pick me up. Mocha Tesora- only when craving chocolate and feeling drained lol. It satisfies the chocolate craving and wakes me up. Tesora- recently became a favorite. Light, creamy and like the menu says, a good one for latte lovers. You can add honey to this. I had mine the regular way and loved it. I'll share my little routine when I come here, hit the farmers market Saturday morning, grab some snacks, fresh flowers and produce. Grab my Philz and then walk it all off. Philz is my favorite coffee chain over Starbucks and peets. The drinks are really good. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the drinks are not consistent and I have asked for medium sugar but the drink I get ends up very sweet. I've also had too much cream and it ruins the whole drink. Utilizing the app to order ahead always works well and my coffee is ready on time. Love Philz! Indoor seating is limited. Outdoor seating space is suitable for groups or individuals. This specific location is in a "strip mall" so parking is limited. My go-to order is Iced Mint Mijito. All the iced coffees are bomb and refreshing. If you're not a huge coffee drinker, then I recommend Philz Coffee. It's better than Starbucks because it's not sugary. Philz Coffee's menu offers a variety of unique flavors and experiences. It's almost more cost effective than Starbucks. The coffee is delicious, they just have to sort out a few kinks. It takes really long to get what you ordered. 20+ minutes. Also we came in once about 10 mins before closing time and instead of being told off the bat we wouldn't be able to order and the store was closing, about two minutes before closing time one of the employees kept yelling that the store would be closed and the register would close down in a few minutes. Can be quite crowded for parking at this shopping center. Service cashier was nice and friendly. They have a customer bathroom available for use. Very rude cashier. (Her name may be Adrienne L according to the receipt on bag) My wife and I visited 10/23 at 2:30 pm. We ordered pastries. She wasn't listening and requires us to repeat our order a few times. While we continue to be polite with smiles, she clearly showed attitude with negative tone and body language. We waited for our pastries at the bench right in front of the cashier after the order, not knowing the pastries have been ready sitting on the cashier's counter all along. She didn't bother to inform us our order is ready to pick up. My wife and I puzzled and assessed if there was any wrong doing on our part. Her attitude started when we may not have pronounced "kouign amann" correctly and that somehow has triggered her attitude. She's obviously not a good fit for the job. read more

I honestly don't know how this place doesn't have 5 stars... customer service is impeccable!! I mentioned it was my first time and staff really took care of me. The gentleman made a really good recommendation based off of what I like. Thennnn, the barista lets me try the drink & asks if I like it... Luckily, I did!! So it's super awesome how much they cared about their customers experience. Plus they're were just super friendly in general. I'm a little surprised that there are so many negative reviews about this location. I've only been here a couple of times and honestly; their service and product is better than Starbucks around the corner. For over a decade, I was a loyal Starbucks customer; but, over the years there is so much better coffee out there. This Philz is still new so the wait time is still quite long. I'm fine with it as long as I time it right and just do coffee meet ups with friends. It isn't very "kid friendly" and pastries and snacks seem very limited, so I won't patronize Philz if I'm with my girls. I really like their iced mint mojito and as long as they're generous with their mint; I'll continue to come here. I usually stick to what I know and like so if I'm in the mood for this drink, I'll come here. If I'm in the mood for iced mochas; I'll go to Medleno. It's a new philz location and we were so happy to get one near our home. We love philz and drive every week for 50 min just to get a drink. We understand that this is a new location and the staff might not be trained well yet. So far we got already many drinks here yet there is a 50% chance of the drink to turn out bad. There were many times were the drink was not drinkable. The beans were sour and I had to dump the drink. Other times the drink was so watered down that I felt I am drinking just water, at least I can drink it. We tried going back to the Berkeley or Oakland locations that have consistent quality yet traffic is terrible and would take us 1h + for coffee. We will keep coming back to this philz BUT PLEASE IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF YOUR DRINKS! Much to my surprise, this Philz was actually the best one I've been to and lucky for me, it's now the closest one to my house. I pre ordered an iced oat milk rosé with sweetener for half an hour in advance (around 1:30pm) and the barista finished making it right as I entered the store at 1:30pm. Parking on a Monday afternoon was easy at Bishop Ranch and I got a spot right outside the store. This is the first location of all the Philz I've gone to that made the drink perfectly without me asking for any adjustments. Over the past few days, I have been a several more times which has given me enough justification for such a change in my review since then. I completely get that they just opened so feel free to take this w/ a grain of salt: -Quality/adherence to Philz standards are inconsistent -Philtered Soul Cold Brew wasn't listed on their app for about 1.5 weeks even though they had it in stock when I ordered in person My cold brew was diluted (I ordered as a walk up too). On another occasion, I ordered a hot coffee straight up (no cream no sugar) so usually it should come out pretty hot. I arrived right on time at 7:55 AM and my coffee was not cold or hot. I did ask for a remake but even then, it was pretty much the same. I say this because I actually drink Philz from the College Ave location about 3x a week and as a former barista here, I know what the quality standards should be like. I will say that the reviews that critique half an hour for coffee is not as warranted because Philz is trying to prioritize mobile pick up since the pandemic began. There's always a pretty high demand especially during peak times and it is a lot to manage both in person orders and mobile pick ups. Just know to order ahead! Still overall: can do better about quality control/consistency and making sure coffees are hot enough if it is a hot coffee, cold enough if it is cold coffee, and the recipes done correctly especially with cold brew. read more

Happy to have a Philz in the area! Today was my first visit to this location and my personal experience was enjoyable - no complaints, I'd be back. I visited around 10am on a summer Tuesday and there wasn't any line. Most (but not all) of the tables inside and outside the establishment were occupied with people on their laptops, or chatting over coffee. If I were to come do some coffeeshop work here, I think I'd like the vibe and sunny yellow tables, but would probably plan to come early to snag a spot. I'm not a Philz regular so ordering is frankly a little confusing to me. However, the cashier was very friendly and patient, sharing the most popular orders and also her personal favorite. I ended up getting a small Jacob's Wonderbar ($3.60) without cream or sugar. There were a lot of mobile orders for the baristas to complete, but it seemed fairly efficient and my drink was ready in about 5 minutes. The coffee was piping hot and brewed well.
