I've never had Vietnamese food before, so I reviewed the menu and Yelp reviews beforehand to get some ideas of what I might like. Well, let me tell you...the Pho was absolutely AMAZING...such a burst of amazing flavors and fresh ingredients, I couldn't stop eating it and it was like nothing else I've ever had! Egg rolls were hot, light, crisp, tasty. Seafood stir fry could have had a bit more seafood but it still was still very tasty, enjoyable, and quite a large portion as well. I had stopped before at the grand opening where I ordered, waited a half hour and was then told they ran out of food so I decided I'd come back once it was up and running. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch. We ordered an appetizer, a coffee, the house pho and wonton soup. We got soup but the app and coffee didn't arrive until after (no big deal). Another server had his butt on a table while taking another group's order (c'mon, dude). My pho was supposed to have rare steak and meatballs. The steak was fully cooked when it arrived bc it was boiling hot, had only half of one meatball and was mostly a mass of noodles. Pho 3 Mien is the gold-standard for local Vietnamese food and the competition is plentiful. The quality, flavor, portion size, and service have all consistently been great during our 6 or so recent visits for week day lunches. Also, the staff/owners are all friendly and welcoming. While we have tried a variety of items, here are a few that stand-out: -Banh Mi (Pork Hoagies which are served on what I believe are the best rolls in the area. Other sandwich shops in the area should take notes.) -Pho with any of the meat options. Best part about the Pho other than its deliciousness is that my mouth doesn't immediately transform into an MSG desert after the last drop of broth is lapped up. -Any item with BBQ roasted pork. Holy cow this food is NSFW it's so good. Presentation for takeout was very clean and looked yummy as soon as I opened the to-food container. The staff was incredibly friendly when I stopped to pick up takeout, restaurant berg clean, cute and inviting....and the food was phenomenal! Shrimp spring rolls were clearly made to order, the peanut sauce tastes homemade and the bun thit nuong that I ordered with added grilled shrimp on the side can only be described as 'food-gasmic'! This place has the best Pho I have eaten so far in the US. My wife and I ate here for the first time the other day. She got the Pho 3 Mein (the restaurant named dish) and I got the S15 (Lemongrass beef). My wife's dish was well flavored - none of that over powering salt flavor, just the flavor of the broth which had a lot of depth and the other ingredients. Mine, was outstanding. The lemongrass broth was absolutely delicious and again, the ingredients in the food shined through. The staff was very friendly - quickly serving us and refilling our waters. The place is nice and clean, although the parking lot can become a bit of a cluster f..... The bathrooms are super clean, as well! Spring rolls, pho, and a soda plus tip end up coming out to about $18 which seems a bit steep, but it's well worth it. The wife and I enjoy pho a lot, and we've been to quite a few places in the Harrisburg (and now west shore!) area. We were excited to try this place and possibly add it to our list of regular haunts. We're certainly not experts, but we're experienced enough to understand what we do and don't like...so here goes. We showed up for dinner on a Tuesday night. We were the only customers, and it felt like we were bothering the other people there. We didn't get a friendly vibe at all. We both ordered spring rolls and beef pho. The spring rolls were quite tough, and the dipping sauce was watery. The spices in the pho had a really odd balance (too much anise?) that we didn't particularly care for. The vegetables served with the soup were dry and not very fresh looking. The beef in the pho was terribly tough, and the way it was stacked up, it was apparent that the cook just chopped off a hunk of beef slices and threw it all in the bowl. I brought a bottle of wine, hoping that there would be some kind of BYOB service, but it didn't look like they do anything like that. So the wine stayed in the carrier, and we had water with our meals. I wasn't thrilled with the mediocre quality of the food, or with the lackluster service and atmosphere. I doubt that we will be back. If this is what they continue to offer others on a regular basis, I give them 6 months to a year before they are out of business. read more

This is a review not only to this particular location, but also to all other pho places with misleading menus. Over the past year since I have been Vegan I am discovering that there are quite of a few of them. Let me explain. When I saw that this place had opened I was really excited. I am a big fan of pho and I was particularly pleased about the location, only five minutes away from my apartment? Hell yeah! Time to break out the chop sticks and gorging myself on sweet sweet pho! On their menu I saw they had a veggie pho which seems like it would be the vegetarian option right? Right? Wrong. 9/10 pho places in this area still serve their veggie pho in beef broth and some even have the nerve to list it as vegertarian option! So before we headed out I called the restaurant and asked if they offered anything vegetarian. I was told that the veggie pho was vegetarian. I asked if it was severed in beef broth, I was told no. Awesome! So with the visions of pho dancing in my head we headed out and when we arrived we were seated our server and I asked him the same question, is your veggie pho severed in beef broth? I was told yes it was. After I was just told on the phone that it wasn't. So with my dreams crushed with got up and left this location. And I was heart broken for the rest of the day. Good job! So I wish I had an experience to share about this location but unfortunately I don't. However I can say if you are looking for a vegetarian pho the Broodstreet market in Harrisburg has a place for it and it is very well done. Happy that we got a Pho place very close to my house! They are still working through some growing pains, it's a small family-run business and they are obviously not experienced in all aspects yet. I typically avoid doing 3 star reviews, just don't seem to be worth the time. For this place, I'm very much looking forward to upgrading my review with a 4 or 5 in the next 90 days. First, the good. Kudos for having vegetarian, chicken, and seafood options! There are a few Pho places that refuse to cater to a vegetarian. The wings taste excellent. Typically chicken wings at a place like this are an afterthought, but they do a really nice crust with fish sauce. Very tasty. The broth is good, it's on the blander side of Pho that I've had, but in the area I live in it's probably smart. Many would be turned off with a very Bold broth. I kicked it up my way with the multiple fish sauce, hoisin, hot sauces provided. A very cool addition that I haven't seen, lemongrass... along with the standard staples of fresh green hot peppers, Thai basil, and sprouts. The stuff that could improve: first and most importantly (and for almost anyone a 1-2star rating for sure), the chicken wings were really underdone. Not like a little on the light side, half raw. I pointed it out nicely and they were very embarrassed and fixed it right away. That said, this is serious, people can get sick. The service - its well intentioned and super nice, but you need to work on the trade a little. With spicy soup and wings, you've gotta refill a water. They will get it, it's just new. Lastly - for the menu. Please provide other beef options. I'm not saying your menu should be 7 pages long like some Vietnamese places. But, there should be more than two beef options, it's the traditional type. Recommend adding an actual lean beef option. The well done beef is good, but has a huge part of fat at the bottom (like brisket does). Could use a top round, lean brisket, or other choice that is more lean. No. Absolutely not. Pho 3 Mien is big. I'm not sure what used to be there, but it's a massive space. There's definite potential for something amazing. It smelled strongly of burnt toast, but I can't swear to that not coming from another nearby establishment. Parking is a hassle at best. The location leaves a little to be desired logistically speaking. If the lot is full, it is a minor headache to get to the shopping center across the street to park if there is any traffic. The menu is small. This could be a blessing, but I found it constrictive. I wanted a few more options that simply were not available. The pho itself was lackluster. The broth wasn't terribly flavorful, but it wasn't terrible either. The rice noodles were waaaaaaay overcooked. It made for a sticky clump of rice noodles that were not appetizing. The beef option that I selected was well done. If I order anything in the beef family, I order it medium at most. With pho, I order it rare. The broth should be hit enough to cook it to a perfect medium. When the beef starts out well, it tends to dry out which makes the bowl that much less appealing. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was polite, personable, and accommodating. By itself, this bodes extremely well for the future of Pho 3 Mien. All (well, mostly all) simple missteps for a fairly new eatery. I may visit them again in a few months to see how they settle in. read more

Yummmy! Such a great little place! I've been passing this place and couldn't wait to try it. They always seem to have yummy specials! I can't wait to try more of everything they have. We had to try the pho and they did not disappoint. Flavors were on point. Also got the chicken fried rice, not sure how they cook the chicken but it is AMAZING. Full of flavor. Everything is well priced for the portions. The table has every kind of sauce and seasoning that you could want. Not a fan of the silverware just sitting on the table in bulk though, who knows who may have touched it. Service was good, could improve as I ran out of water and it was never refilled. I like the outdoor sitting option too. Parking is a bit weird so hopefully everyone can use their common sense. This review hovers between 3 and 4 stars; however, I'm going to initially go with 3 stars due to the unique nature of our first visit. First, I love the diversity in food selections slowly popping up all over the West Shore/Central PA area. Second, in the bitter cold of Pennsylvania's winters, there is absolutely nothing better than Pho/hot noodle bowls. We visited 3 days after they opened and the restaurant was fairly full. We arrived around 6pm and were promptly attended to with our drinks and menus. We ordered spring rolls and two bowls (1 large House Bowl, 1 small Shrimp Bowl). Our bowls came out within 7-10 minutes of ordering and were accompanied by the standard plate of greens/sprouts. They had all the perfect Pho condiments on the table (hello Hoisin!) and we began to create our bowls. Our spring rolls were never delivered and it was a struggle to get our waters refilled, the to-go containers, and the bill. HOWEVER, before I go and poorly rate the service, we later discovered the restaurant was supposed to close at 5pm in order to begin celebrating the Vietnamese New Year, but due to a heavy stream of business, they remained opened a little longer. I can't blame them for semi-neglecting us as they set up for their evening festivities and were already in the mind frame to be done with business by the time we arrived. We will try it again as it is close to home and seems like a decent place. read more

The fried tofu was not properly drained of water before it was fried so when served it was very watery and not good. On the plus side it was a very large portion. The broth has no lemongrass flavor, seems to be overpowered with cinnamon, basically it's just warm cinnamon water. It's rather disgusting. We stopped by this little Vietnamese spot after a while searching on Yelp. The foods were a little above average in term of selection. The name of the restaurant is "3 Mien", which translates to "3 regions". It's a typical Vietnamese restaurant that tries to do everything on the menu from north, central, to south Vietnamese cuisines. My bf and I ordered "banh Khot" for appetizers, bun bo hue for me and my bo kho for him for main course, 2 Vietnamese iced coffee, and 2 hoagies to-go. Banh Khot was a bit too oily for my liking but made up for it was the great crunchiness of the fried crust, creaminess of the coconut milk, and good fish sauce mixture accompanied the dish. Both Bun Bo Hue and My bo kho were extremely sweet and my guess was the chef is from the southern vietnam region, who tents to add lots of sugar to their cooking. I personally do not like my foods sweet so it was difficult eating my meal but my bf almost finished his tho. The portion was humongous so you won't be worried being hungry. Iced coffee was great. The coldcut to-go hoagie was better than the grilled pork since the grilled pork again was sweeter. Overall, waiters were very attentive and and professional. I have been a regular customer at Kim's since about 2015. The food is always very good, but the prices keep going up. Today I paid $25 for 2 bowls of pho, and $11 for two orders of spring rolls.
