    PORK VERMICELLI Lunch 10$

1st time customer. Visited on a Sunday around 3p. Not busy at all just a couple family with kids. I ordered pork vermicelli and ask that the pork be cooked crispy. They did not disappoint! After asking for extra cilantro, carrots and peanuts I had a great tasting vermicelli bowl. Only one wait person but service was fast, accommodating and friendly. I recommend and will be a repeat customer!

Pho 45 really stands out for their wonderful noodle soups. The interior is your typical hole in the wall Vietnamese noodle house. Despite the menu, there's a lot of paper sheet post ups of their offerings all over the restaurants, a little tacky and distracting but very common in these places. Pass on the banh mi here. They chunky carrots were not to my liking. Pass on the spring rolls. They are also subpar. The spring rolls are lacking in mint, filled with iceberg lettuce, and loosely rolled. They didn't have that nice sticky freshness to the wrapper either. Pho 45 does noodle soup right. The broths have a deep complexity that is hard to find at some noodle houses. On my last visit here, the spicy bun bo hue lit my mouth fire. They don't kid around with the spices. That's a good thing though. My favorite dish here, the bun rieu is magical. It's a crabby noodle soup with tofu and blood jello. They added snails into it, which I did not request, but they tasted just fine. Don't forget to add the shrimp paste. One strange thing about Pho 45 is the consistency of the soups. Sometimes they leave stuff out like the blood jello in the bun bo hue, other times they add extras like above with the snails. It's still delicious, but still, consistency would be nice.

Oh my god the second person in this place that has smiled at me. All the days I have had the restaurant to myself with my son today is much different almost all the tables are taken up. A rare form the waittress even rememberd that I come here last week and this is the first time I have seen this new server . And a big noticeable difference the people here have a sense of urgency I mean they are really moving! Ask if trained by american servers. I'm loving this place the more times I cone here .

Sweet artichoke tea. Tastes like an artichoke was boiled, removed from pot, water chilled & sweetened, add some... chia? Yum.

Humble digs, food cheap and good. Everything was fresh and prepared with care. I was particularly happy with banh mi hot ga opla (fried egg baguette). It was simple: two fried eggs on one plate and a baguette on the other. You put them together yourself! This is extremely necessary because the egg is fried crispy golden but the yolk runs freely all over the baguette, and if the chef had put them together for you you would have missed all the fun and freshness. And I t is delicious! The baguette had that lovely hot bread smell and like the eggs, had the crispy/softy texture balance. I added some sriracha, and it was a wonderful combo. I also had the ban bo hue (hot beef vermicelli). Wasn't sure what I was getting into. Not used to this kind of meat and I wished I'd ordered the bun tai instead because the texture was a bit wild. But the broth, noodles, and fresh greens to top off were delicious and fresh. Could drink just the hot, flavorful broth every single day and be a happy camper. Nuoc mat atiso (sweet artichoke tea) to drink. That was tasty. Just a sweetened tea made of artichoke, with some kind of floating seed that forms a jelly pearl when added to liquid, probably chia. I probably won't order it again because I have my favorites, but it was refreshing and tasty, and a nice change-up. Overall, great meal, great price.

I usually don't write reviews however I tried the pho here because my friend said it's her favorite. It was amazing! Other places you can tell the broth is just not that great but here it's almost similar to my moms pho! The broth is very flavored and yummy. The waiter is very accommodating and nice!

If there was less than 1 star..that would be my vote. I ordered Lemon Shrimp and a Thai Salad. I got shredded greens with a lot of cilantro, red onion and shrimp (cold) and a salad that was so salty I had to spit it out..oh did I mention...salad had pork rinds..I threw everything in the trash..$13 bucks in the trash. There is an awesome Pho spot near Pappadeauxs on I45. I can't remember exactly where..it's been a couple of months since I've come to HOU, but I'm determined to find it!

This food gave me the stomach flu! Was up all night throwing up because of how nasty the food from here was. Do not recommend!

Cozy spot with good Pho. Tried the eye of round and meatball beef soup, very good and filling portion. They do not accept Amex.

Wow! Just... wow…read more Loved this place from the moment I walked in! Ambiance was super fun and welcoming. The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! Loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat!

A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
