This place is a little ways from my workplace but I don't mind the drive. The food is always fresh and hot. I would suggest calling your order ahead because they get pretty busy during lunch time. My favorite thing is their grilled pork spring rolls. They are SO GOOD. A lot of places I've been don't offer the grilled pork option and these are so yummy. They're made in house-I've seen them making them! Their Pho is a good portion and very flavorful. They also have cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) and it's good as well. I don't believe they have it on the menu so you just have to ask for it. The building is a little older, so it could use some love. There is plenty of seating. A few downsides are that a couple of times the soy sauce/condiments have been a little greasy and in need of a wipe down. Pho 518 has the best Pho Tai I've ever had. It has a generous amount of meat and they bring extra cilantro to add. This Vietnamese noodle restaurant is very simple and the atmosphere isn't that great. Often there are several tables piled with dirty dishes. I eat here, on average, once a month. Admittedly, I'm pretty big into some of the in-town joints but to be honest, I've had some food at Pho 518 that really could compete in flavor, but perhaps not in presentation. As the others have mentioned, the interior is super drab and minimalistic. The service is polite but sort of inattentive and not at ALL chatty. Frankly, when I'm in the mood to mow down some vermicelli, I don't really want to chat them up anyway so it typically doesn't bother me. I'd highly recommend the tofu spring rolls, chargrilled pork vermicelli salad, chili lemongrass tofu vermicelli salad, and definitely add a fried egg to anything/everything you order. With the lack of Vietnamese cuisine on my side of Pearland, Pho 518 will hit the spot both in your stomach and in your wallet. It's not overpriced overly fancy nor expensive. The price for what you get is just about what you would get it for if you went over to Bellaire. Quality may not be as good as on Bellaire (depending on where you go) but it's definitely good and satisfying, and definitely better than some of the other choices in the area. I'm giving it three stars because sometimes the food is not as hot as I'd like it to be and the banh mi sandwich is just ok. The biggest thing that bothers me is that they close at 8:30 on weekdays, which I think is a little too early. Other than that, the staff is friendly, and the place is clean. Great pho spot! Clean, good, prompt service and great quality! Had the spring rolls with shrimp and pork, large pho ga and a soda chan! Everything was on point. Broth was great and the veggies were fresh! Soda chan had just a little too much sugar in the bottom, but at this point I'm looking for something to knock them on. Service: (4/5). When ordering pho, my partner likes to order the meat raw and separate on another dish so she can add the meat herself. Waitress did confirm order but server brought the dish with the meat cooked. But he was willing to redo the order. Other than that, service was good. Food: (3/5). They only had two sizes of pho: large and small. I ordered the pho and was satisfied with the content. I always order pho dac biet and it had all the meats (maybe in a smaller portion). Broth was pretty good. My sister ordered a rice plate with sautéed beef called Bo lu Lac, which is a special Vietnamese dish that tends to be expensive but was only $8! They even had a picture of it on the menu and it looked delicious. Coming out of the kitchen, the portion of meat was disappointing. It had half the meat as portrayed in the menu. Have not tried the Pho yet. Love their Shaking beef Steak: Com BO Luc Lac. Can not complain over this dish. I i s the only one dish I would come back to this restaurant for over 4 years in the area. You can order it with fried rice or steam rice, tasty for both. It is not authentic Vietnamese food, Gourmet for the American. The restaurant is very clean. Service is fast and my food always served hot. Will be back for some more in the future. Would recommend for all my friends who have not tried it yet. read more

From reading the reviews I was little skeptical about going but once inside I was extremely pleased with my surroundings. The restaurant is a very clean & the atmosphere is very welcoming. The only issue is how it's just okay, nothing really stands out, and there is better Pho places nearby that you can go to for those that truly love how the broth is cooked. Becoming quite a fan of Pho soup, happened upon Pho 518 and decided to stop for dinner. The Pho options are impressive. My limited experience with the dish has always been one of 2 options: chicken or beef. Pho 518 has many, many options of both beef and chicken, almost to the point there's too much choice. Wife and I order a large order of beef pho and a pork banh mi(sp.) to share. The pho was good and the banh me was awesome. We ordered 2 more banh mi to eat later. The whole meal came to 20 bucks, including the carryout sandwiches. Quite a good deal. That was the good aspects. Now for the bad, and what ultimately prevents a 5 star review. The staff is a little bit lackadaisical. They play inapproriate music for the guest, but I imagine the staff there enjoy listening what I guess passes for top-40 nowadays. They are clearly having a good time, as one of the employees, clearly on break, enjoys his free pho soup in the dining room alongside the paying customers. There are several tables left dirty, which isn't a problem, but you can see the staff forming the chat-circle you often see bored employees do. Oi, go clean your shop before slacking. Likewise, you can see that dining room tables are used as work tables from the staff to do their chores. All-in-all, they need to display a better sense of urgency, otherwise customers will worry that the same lackadaisical attitude permeates into the kitchen as well as the floor. 4 stars. If you're looking for a no-frills pho joint in Pearland, look no further. It's usually our go-to if we want some Vietnamese, but lately I've noticed the service has been lacking lately. The restaurant itself is nothing to sneeze at. It's just a bunch of tables arranged in rows and has been unchanged since it first opened. The pho is fairly basic, and they have generous bowls (order the large). It comes out piping hot and is really good if you have a cold and take it to go. The spring rolls are good too, and they have the normal shrimp ones, but also have tofu and chargrilled beef. The Vietnamese egg rolls are fairly small but taste as you would expect them to. All are served with the usual condiments. I've had their bun (vermicelli noodles) and usually get them with chargrilled pork and egg rolls. Their rice plates are the standard fare as well, nothing special. The banh mi is pretty good, but it's such a simple sandwich that it's pretty hard to mess up. Their soda chanh (lemonade made with seltzer and sugar) is refreshing. If you're looking for decent, cheap eats that's not a burger and fries, stop in. But if you want more ambience and better service, go across the street a little ways to Pho Vy. read more

Some places I prefer more than others or some standout above others in several categories (broth, meats, rolls) but this one stood out as probably the worst Pho ive eaten. I really wish I could give a good rating since I was hoping to have a good Pho joint around the corner, but I was very disappointed. The egg rolls that I ordered looked very sad. Stale wonton wrapped eggrolls with only one piece of lettuce and a scant amount of shredded carrots. No cilantro or cucumbers. I waited for my house special pho to come out so that I could steal some of the cilantro from the vegetable plate. I've never had a bad fish sauce to dip my eggrolls in at a restaurant until now. It was missing the fish sauce, chili, and lemon. It really just tasted like slightly sweetened water. I was sad. I tried to recover it by adding siracha and some more lemons, but didn't have the guts to ask them to give me some fish sauce. I was hoping the pho would be better. They only gave me a sprig of basil on top of the vegetable plate, I love basil. I was sad that I had to share it with my bf. I checked out my pho bowl after I added all the veggies... the meat was lacking, but I guess it was enough. The broth left a lot to be desired. It lacked the depth of the slow simmered meat bones and the spices tasted out of proportion. I tasted too much cloves and not much else. In a nutshell - this restaurant stinks, and I'm scratching my head at the five-star reviews which only enable places like this to keep pumping out their awful service and food. The service is poor (one of those places where you feel like you're imposing on the waitstaff, due to the attitude/looks/coldness,). Dining area is consistently unkempt. The pho broth is like old dishwater, and the meat is overcooked by the time it reaches your table. Noodles are consistently clumped and gummy, an unfortunate victim of overcooking. I have been here a few times to maybe see if they were having an off day. ..Nope. More like an off restaurant, sadly. Honestly, you cannot really mess up Pho (maybe you can, but I have never really had terrible Pho, anywhere!). This little joint in Pearland, Texas is a good option on a cold winter evening. We found ourselves here on a weekend, during dinnertime, and the restaurant was not terribly busy. The wait staff seems to all be related somehow, which is not a terrible thing. We ordered our food and it came it very quickly, which was good since we were all starving. I ordered the large bowl...and it was as advertised. My wife ordered the small bowl of pho with tendon and was disappointed at the miniscule amount in the bowl. I am not sure if every place is like that with their tendon...since I always order some combination pho, but my wife was sad!!! For 4 bowls of pho, the price was under $30.00, which is typical for a Pho place. I had #22.. Pho with the beef well done. I know many people can't stand well done beef, but I rather it. I didn't like it as much when compared to other places, but being on the opposite side of Houston from where I live Pho 518 is a good place to go grab a bite. My friend had ordered the pork fried rice. From what I could see, the pork looked nice and the "fried rice" looked bland. I would stay away from it, but my friend said it wasn't bad given that it wasn't as oily as others. The price and taste was about average. The place was clean. The waiter was a bit slow. Our family of five ate there last night. The restaurant is not very clean and is somewhat dingy looking. The phrase hole in the wall came to mind when we arrived. There were only two waitresses, no busboys, and no apparent manager on duty.
