I've been coming here for years with my sisters and it is as great as the first time I came. I love the grilled beef and often order either the grilled beef banh mi or the vermicelli bowl. The portions are huge for the bowl (easily enough for two meals and there are still leftovers). Spring rolls are also massive and can be a meal on their own! My sisters are the pho lovers and they claim this is the best spot in Houston - I don't eat pho as often as they do but I definitely believe it. This is our favorite pho place in katy. Appearance may not be high class but the food is delicious and very consistant. We always get the tofu sandwich and the pork sandwhich and the vegetable fried rice. The flavor of the pork sandwhich is my favorite from any i have tried in the area. Best pork chops I've had so far! One bite instantly reminds me of the Pork chops I ate when I was growing up in Vietnam, it was seasoned just right! Banh mi(sandwiches) is also very good, crispy but soft. The egg rolls are nice and crispy too, and I really appreciate that it comes with lettuce and pickled carrot to wrap the egg rolls in to dip with the dipping sauce. Not to mentioned, the portion is big but so reasonably priced. Will be my go to Vietnamese food place when I am in Katy for as long as it exist. read more

I went here to pick up some shrimp fried rice because we saw a picture in another post on Yelp that looked great. I ordered the rice and an order of fried egg rolls. I was not happy with either dish. First - They had both fried egg rolls and spring rolls listed on the menu. OK, so I was very aware that I was in a Vietnamese restaurant and not a Chinese restaurant so I was sure to ask the girl taking my order if the fried egg rolls were actually a fried spring roll or if they were a fried egg roll like you would get in a Chinese restaurant. She said they were like the Chinese fried egg rolls (and that was what i really wanted so I got them) They came and then of course they were fried spring rolls! I know that there wasn't a language barrier or anything because the girl taking my order was about 16 and spoke perfect English. I know she knew the difference and I was clear that what I wanted was a Chinese egg roll. My conclusion is that she told me what I wanted to hear so I'd order them. So that really ticked me off. Second - The shrimp fried rice was terrible! All the veggies that were in the picture on Yelp were not in the rice we got. The rice was BURNT. My boyfriend picked out the 5 shrimp that were in there to eat them and we ended up throwing 3/4 of it away. It was a total waste of time and money for me to have gone here and I will not return to try anything else. read more

Every time I come here I get the same thing: beef vermicelli. It is so good! I love that this place is so close to my house. It's a nice neighborhood restaurant. My husband has ordered the smoothies with tapioca pearls often. Both the Lychee and Mocha smoothies are good. The only negative that I have about this place is that sometimes they don't clean off the tables. Last time we walked in, there were about six or seven tables (there aren't that many tables in this place to begin with) that still had dishes and food from the previous customers sitting there. When we left the restaurant, the tables were still dirty. This place reminds me of a small vietnamese place I went to in Oakland, CA. The place is nothing fancy, so if you want fine dining go elsewhere. If you want good Vietnamese, look no further. read more

Very good for a first time visit. The Fresh spring rolls (#101) were VERY AWESOME! I must say. I also had Pho noodle soup (#404, I think based off of the photo menu on Urbanspoon; beef round eye). The food was very good. Definitely, would be a return customer. It's just a bit out of the way for me to visit on a lunch hour, and I have about three favorites by my house. BUT! for anyone in the area that live or work closer, it is so worth the visit. Nothing fancy or flashy about the decor. It is a mom and Vietnamese soup house. This was our first time to try Pho 88.I ordered to go food for me and my family. 3 Banh Mi thit noung(sandwiches chargrill pork) and 2 orders of gio cuon thit nuong( 4 spring rolls) all costed $19 bucks. The bread needed to be toasted and there was NO delicious butter?! The spring roll had iceberg lettuce not romaine.. the taste of the meat was decent.. I am not sure if I will be back to try other foods there or not.. maybe if I get desperate.. but I would drive further down the road to 529 for banh mi. read more

We went to Pho 88 for the first time today. When we arrived there were only a total of four tables, including us and another customer waiting for their to-go order. However, there was only one lady working in the front, who I assume is the owner. She was obviously overwhelmed although she still greeted us with a smile and apologized for the long wait, which wasn't too long. We ordered Bo Luc Lac, BBQ Banh Mi and Pho. The Banh Mi was among one of the best I've had in Houston. The Bo Luc Lac was very good too. However, the Pho was kind of disappointing and lacked flavor. Later it got busier and the Banh Mi was so good we ordered another one. However, maybe because they were overwhelmed in the kitchen, the second Banh Mi wasn't nearly as good. The bread felt like it wasn't toasted enough, the meat wasn't warm enough and they forgot to put butter on the bread. They are a little far from us, but if we are ever tired of the Vietnamese restaurants closer to us we may go back. read more

Nice little family owned pho place, in a great lacation for me. Whilst their pho is nothing special, it's just ok in my opinion, the dish is HUGE and filling, they generously put in meats and noodles in it. Their Bahn Mi is so good! I'd put in on the top Bahn Mis in Houston, every place does theirs differently and pho 88 knows what they are doing. Perfect amount of pickling and the meat in it is great. So I'll probably skip the pho here and just get the Bahn mis and any drink of their wide selection of Bobba drinks and teas. The Jasmine green ice tea is really really good! Service is fine. I love how small this place is. I've been coming here for the past 4 years. It's not fancy at all, but it's a little hole in the wall that I can't seem to stay away from. Their fried rice is by far my favorite. It even beats my grandma's! (Lol don't tell her I said that). And the pho is actually decent. I haven't had a bland dish here so far. If you aren't that picky about service quality, are willing to wait 20 minutes when they are crowded, and just want the best Pho/bun on the Westside of Houston, Pho 88 is THE place. Have tried at least half a dozen other one around Katy, and this is the best one. Great portion size for the price, and it's the best thing you can get without going into the Bellaire area of Houston. The Mrs and I have eaten a lot of Pho, and we know the good from the bad. The last place that reminded of this place was in Westminster, CA (aka "Little Saigon") in SoCal. Highly recommended! read more

First time visiting. Wasn't very impressed. It our menu within seconds of walking in. Took 5 more min to get a drink order which we went ahead and gave our main order. Took 10 more min to get our drinks and the main order. Place was dirty. Weird dirt stains in the lights on ceiling. One of the bus boy (man) spilled a drink and proceeded to clean it up with napkins not a mop I got beef flank steak soup. Broth needed some help. Steak was chewy and so wide it was too much to eat in one bite. And they don't provide knives for this. Never got a refill for our teas. I had to go up to counter to pay (which I don't think is necessary since you order at the table) Recommendation -- PASS read more

Highly disappointed and I don't think I'll ever order from here again. I called like around 7:30pm to order some spring rolls for my son. It was the closest thing to home. The owners exact words were "No spring rolls I'm busy, I can't make them" Ok that's fine. I'm trying to be understanding so I order something else.
