Wow. THIS level of pho in Hayward?! This spot just opened and it was absolutely superb. I ordered the short rib combo pho and the grilled pork rice plate, and both were outstanding. The pho came loaded with meat--seriously generous portions, not the skimpy situation you sometimes get. The broth was rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The grilled pork rice plate was equally impressive: perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and comforting in the best way. Service was friendly and attentive, and can we talk about how CLEAN this place is?! I am very nitpicky about cleanliness, and the fact that I wasn't grossed out (especially in an Asian restaurant, which can be hit or miss in that department) is a huge win in my book. I must have ordered the wrong items to give it a "wow". Have to give stars for great service of taking orders, but little confused when the bill time. The food came promptly. Mom likes her food, seafood noodles combo with egg noodles, since the broth was not salty. My beef rice plate has no flavors. The beef slices were the one from pho but there was really any tastes on the meat. It isn't a lot of fat on the meat which makes it a plus. The restaurant used Persian or English cucumber which I appreciated. The fresh spring rolls and the sauce was nice texture. The lemonade is okay toward sweet side than sour. It could be quiet or it could be loud depending on crowds. The entrance is on the first corner side when you enter the lot. Will I try again? Over all, the food was flavorful. This was my first time eating here, so its possible the flavor could change slightly depending on the cook. I ordered a large P2(the bowl at the bottom of the picture) and the other was a regular P6. Mine had 1 and a half meat balls, 3 quarter sized slices of tendon, and roughly 2 small pinches of tripe, with about 3 slices of brisket, and about 5 or more of the other meat. At first glance it looks kinda gypped, but once you fluff up the noodles, mix it up, and start eating, you notice it has alot. Especially for the price. Our bill, after ordering wontons, and aregular and large bowl of pho, was a little over $39. In regards to cleanliness, the place was spotless. It's tucked into a small plaza and while the exterior looks pretty unassuming, the interior is surprisingly modern with thoughtful touches I really appreciated. There's a parking lot, though it can fill up since other businesses share the space. Service was solid. We were seated right away, our order was taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly. After that, we were mostly left to enjoy our meal. I ordered the pho with steak & tripe and someone in my group ordered the special combo hu tieu. The portions and overall quality matched the price point well. They offer different bowl sizes and the proteins were prepared nicely. The seafood stood out -- very tender, which is rare. I was honestly skeptical of this restaurant because of the name. I'm just not used to it being so westernize, you know? I grew up in times where it was numerical. Tucked behind Oil Changers, there is ample parking available. However, it is also parking for other shops too, so if you're going during the day, then maybe it will be pretty limited. The food here is really good I must say. There aren't a lot of Vietnamese restaurants I like, but this one, low key has me in a chokehold for Hayward. Our usual orders: 1. Egg Rolls - Brings me memories of my mom's egg rolls. When I can't see her, I come here to have some home comfort. 2. Pho Dac Biet - Whether you get one with the short rib or not, the soup base is consistently good. Make sure you order thit tai (slice meat) on the side. It taste better when it's slightly rare, but it's up to you. 3. Bun Bo Hue - I love love love BBH. What makes their BBH a little different from how others are, is that they are more of Vietnam's version of BBH. It might be a more acquired taste because if you're not used to the original VN version I guess. 4. Bun Rieu - A tomato based soup, very refreshing. I like it to be more on the saltier side so I always get extra fermented fish paste. 5. Bun Thit Nuong - Vermicelli noodles with pork meat and egg rolls. I haven't had a good Bun Thit Nuong in a while, but I approve. 6. Com Thit Nuong - I definitely love my rice and pork chop. A lot of people tend to make this dish bland and dry. This one is pretty good, the only downfall, they don't have any steak knives, you'd have to use a butter knife to cut. I was told because of regulations why couldn't use it anymore. 7. Avocado Shake - Absolutely delicious, except, no whip cream, makes me a little sad. Customer service is pretty standard. read more

Our first time visit. They said their machine was down and could only take cash. That's fine since I have cash with me. After the meal, I paid with $100 and was told it's $65 something. I did not think much since we ordered two regular pho bowls (each $12.95), one papaya salad and a pork roll plate. There was no receipt given to me and I unfortunately forgot to ask for it. I put a few dollars into the tip cup. Until I went home, someone told me the total cost seems a lot. My family and I tried this restaurant and came away impressed. The food was quite good and the prices were very reasonable. We had the pho, which is their standout dish. Very flavorful broth. The bun bo hue and the shaking beef were just shy of great. The bun bo was very tasty, and save for the inclusion of handmade meatballs made of ground pork (more appropriate in bo ne, in my opinion), would've been just as good as the pho. The shaking beef was oily, and otherwise didn't have much sauce. It also could have been made with more browning. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and the restaurant was very clean, which is to be expected for a new location. The menu is quite varied, and honestly may be too many items for a single restaurant to execute well. I've been here a few times and wanted to share my experience. The pho here is very good and the price is more affordable compared to other pho restaurants in the area. The restaurant is clean, and the owner/manager is very friendly. One time I ordered pho but my order was missing the meatballs. I messaged the restaurant to let them know, and the owner responded right away, apologized, and offered to give me extra meatballs the next time I came back. When I came back recently, I reminded her because my daughter really likes the meatballs. She recognized me immediately, apologized again, and made sure to add extra meatballs to make it right. Tried this place out as a quick lunch after an 8th grade promotion ceremony. No reservations, just stopped by. Small establishment, maybe enough for 30-35 people. We were a party of 12 and wanted to sit together, but they made it a little difficult. There were already 3 small parties of 2-3 people each and when we tried to squish 3 tables together, they kept saying we were blocking something (the door way, the path to the kitchen, people's walkway). They weren't really helping us find a spot, so after one last attempt, we were ready to walk out. After that little mishap, they quickly served us. Food was amazing, except my dish. I ordered the spicy lemongrass beef over rice. It was boring looking compared to everyone else's dish. It was just rice and meat, nothing else. Everyone else had veggies. Taste wise, it was just okay. My nephew ordered chicken over garlic noodles, BOMB. He's 8, and polished off the entire plate on his own. We also ordered the fine rice vermicelli with beef, BOMB. We also ordered bun with beef and bun with pork and shrimp. Both were really good. And a grilled chicken with rice dish, which was way better than expected. The chicken was super flavorful. Iced Viet coffee was also BOMB. I would definitely come back again. But I might all ahead if there's more than 4 of us, just so they could get the tables together the way they want them. read more
