I have been to the marketplace numerous times and new restaurant was on the second floor, but never had time to try. I'm glad I finally did. The rice noodle was chewy and the soup was flavorful, but the star was the rare rib eye beef and the brisket! They were both not only full of flavors but super tender! I could tell the beef was of high end grade and cut. Just for this I would go back again. We also got tasty egg rolls. The staff was friendly and there are plenty of tables to sit at. This summarizes a vibe the owners want to make obvious. The owner made certain that all parties felt loved for coming. Pho-510 is women owned and the owner we talked with has a Vietnamese heritage. We had one of the chicken soups to which we added a large portion of steamed vegetables. We had a mix but the owner volunteered to make a custom mix from her list of vegetables. We started with a shrimp spring roll as pictured. The sauce appeared to be a peanut sauce. It added nicely to the spring rolls. The Pho soup was nicely prepared and had a large portion of chicken. We really liked the combination of flavors. We need to get back there on our next visit to get you some more pictures. We visit the marketplace regularly to get bread from Seven Hills Baking, meat from Barrons and produce from Castro Valley Natural Grocery. So now we have a great place for lunch. We have dined in the Castro Valley Marketplace many times, and I don't know how we missed Pho 5-10. It is such a gem. The staff were so friendly on our visit, and the food was really delicious with generous portions. The restaurant is on the second floor mezzanine level so there was an open floor plan. On one wall was a mural of the beautiful Halong Bay in Vietnam. Perhaps it is because the location is inside a market hall that we didn't have high expectations, and the extensive menu also gave us second thoughts on whether the kitchen can execute well on such broad offerings. Since this is our first time here, we ordered our usual standards- beef pho, grilled beef over rice, grilled pork chops over rice, grilled chicken over rice vermicelli, and shrimp salad. The beef pho came first. The broth tasted phenomenal, and the beef slices were thin and succulent. It came with fresh and delicate herbs and green chiles, which we quickly add to the broth. Next came the grilled meats, and both the grilled beef and pork chops had that smoky grilled flavor, and the marinade was sensational. The plates were huge and on it there were big mounds of rice, generous salads on the side, and a small bowl of clear broth. A small dish of fish sauce was provided if you want to add it to the rice and salad for more flavor. As we were waiting for the next dish, our server came out and apologetically informed us that they had just run out of the grilled chicken, and the chef is preparing a fresh batch, but we would need to wait around 25 minutes for the meat to be seasoned. We didn't want to wait so we opted for the grilled pork, and it was a good choice, as the grilled pork was just as good as the grilled beef and pork chops aforementioned. Our daughter had the shrimp salad, and the portion was large. We thought she wouldn't finish it, but to our surprise, she cleaned up the plate until there is nothing left. It was that good! This cute little restaurant is located upstairs in the CV Marketplace. There's a few parking spots on the street out front, but there's also a parking lot next to/behind the building. My mom brought me & my grandparents one night to check it out since it opened recently. She told us she's been there a couple times since they opened & there was a bit of a wait, but luckily when we came, we were seated right away. There's about 15-20 total tables to dine in. Once you arrive, there's a host stand where you check in & they'll get you seated. Once we were seated, we were greeted by one of the friendly servers & given the menus along with water. We noticed on the menu that Monday-Friday from 3-5pm is 15% off appetizers, so we got the shrimp spring rolls to share. I am SO glad we have Pho 510 at CV as I am a local and always look forward to have more quality restaurants here. Their pho really is one of the best and I have been to a ton of pho places for comparison. Service was attentive and there is that waitress lady who always have a nice happy smile on her face. Here is why I love their pho: 1.The noodle is just right! Not too soft or firm. 2. The broth has great flavor 3. Meat (briskets especially) is high quality and not the chewy low quality kind. 4. Great portion size in terms of ratio of noodle, broth, and meat. Price is normally a couple dollars more than other pho places, but to me it is totally worth it for its better quality. Here is a true testament of their quality! I usually don't like phos to go, but pho 510 togo is almost as good as dine-in! Their noodles don't stick together after we got home and put in the soup they expands quickly as if the same at the restaurant while maintaining that texture. I had the leftover pho the next day and just boiled the broth and put the remaining noodles/meat in the boiling broth and it is still good! Came here last Saturday for a late lunch, was very excited to try this new pho place in Castro Valley! I'm a Pho Auntie loyalist, but since they had the fire we've been looking for a new pho place for those colder chilly days. Party of 2. Thankfully it was Thanksgiving break so the village parking lot wasn't super busy, but this area can get really crowded sometimes. We got two bowls of pho and an order of shrimp spring rolls to share. Pho tai is $20.95, which is definitely more expensive than the typical pho place that serves it for maybe $18 or less. Pros: - very solid pho. The noodles were good, broth was unproblematic, and the meat portions were generous. No complaints here on quality. I would say quantity is similar to a typical pho restaurant. - Really nice festive and bright ambiance, especially around the holidays you get to enjoy the Christmas decorations within the village. Pretty chill place for a date, friend hang, etc, with noise level not too quiet but you can still hear each other talk. - Easy seating for a party of 2, no wait when we went mid-afternoon. - I heard that they offered to feed people during the government shut down if their SNAP benefits weren't coming through, so that's super kind and I respect the business for doing that. - All the servers were welcoming and professional, very hospitable. Located upstairs next to La Perla, the spot has a clean, open, communal energy -- a modern food-stall setup that feels casual yet lively. We visited during the lunch rush and waited about twenty minutes, which gave us time to watch steaming bowls of pho sail past. When ours arrived, it didn't disappoint. The Combo Pho came loaded with assorted meats, while the beef ball and ribeye pho was simple and satisfying. The broth was deeply flavored without being too salty, and the meats were tender enough to fall apart with a chopstick nudge. Then came the bánh mìs -- the Brisket and the Grilled Pork. The brisket was rich and flavorful, but as a sandwich, it felt like something was missing. It came with pickled onions and a small side of fatty broth that added a welcome boost. Nem Nuong was super fresh and delicious with fresh veggies they used and crunch inside with perfectly grilled pork sausage. Grilled pork in the vermicelli had perfect amount of sweetness and charred taste, and noodles were cooked excellently! Pho had satisfying amount of rib eye and tendon in it. You can tell the meat is good quality. noodles were again perfectly cooked, and the first slurp of the soup I had was so comforting, clean tasting with not too much MSG but with enough umami. My all time fave was Auntie Pho in the East Bay, but this place hits all the mark of having a clean space + great service + amazing food. Worth the trip to this restaurant! We went on a weekend and it made me so happy to see the community come out and support this new restaurant in town! The wait to get seated didn't take long at all, we definitely got lucky! The service was good, I think because they were so busy it was hard to juggle so many customers and such so I give grace because I know what it's like! When we were being serviced, the waitress attending us was very kind and welcoming! I felt bad for her though cause she was the host, waitress and serving some food and drinks! She can definitely hustle! I have tried so many pho spots and unfortunately, this place just isn't for me! We tried their spring rolls, Thai tea and pho. The spring rolls were good, the Thai tea was super sweet and the pho was okay. For the price, I think I was expecting something different. Subject to the highest standards from personal experience of someone who was born and raised in Vietnam, the capital of it no less (ie where the absolute great Vietnamese restaurants are abundant), there are dishes here that are worth raving about. Their special pho can feed 2 people (we always order and share) and the meat and soup are just exquisite. One of the latest additions is Pho 5-10, a super friendly Vietnamese restaurant on the second floor with an extensive menu. We started with Banh Beo Chen, a plate of seven steamed rice & tapioca flour cakes topped with a crunchy mixture of shrimp, fried pork, and scallions, served with fish sauce on the side. The Banh Mi 5-10 Special was a creative take on a Vietnamese sandwich, filled with tender slow-cooked beef brisket (the same cut served in their pho), picked onions, pickled carrots/daikon, cucumber, jalapeño, cilantro, and mayo, served with pho broth on the side for dipping--just like a French dip sandwich! The Pho 5-10 Dac Biet was their house special pho made with a variety of beef cuts including flank, brisket, tripe, tendon, and meatballs, along with all the typical condiments of bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapeño. The special also came with an extra side of soup with raw thinly-sliced Angus Prime Ribeye, which was cooked to a tender consistency right in the hot broth.
