I got excited when I saw banh xeo on their menu, which is a savory vietnamese crepe. Not many vietnamese restaurants have this dish on their menu, so I made a special trip just for this. Unfortunately, it was not that good. The crepe was soggy, greasy, overstuffed with bean sprouts and just bland. Waitering staff were not fully trained, constantly bringing the manager over to translate for them, and finally, they forgot to bring me my order of spring rolls. Overall, I understand there is a language barrier, but there needs to be more control in front of the customers. Btw, pho was alright. read more

Definitely a place we plan to go back to. The Sup Do Bien (seafood soup) was perfect and I had the Tom Xao Xa Ot (shrimp, Lemongrass, Veg) and she had Mi Xao Gion Do Bien (seafood/veg over crispy noodles) and it was just excellent. Not my favorite pho place, but it's popular among most college students since it's close to Rutgers. They have "sriracha" in a squeeze bottle, but I don't think it's the actual sriracha because it doesn't quite taste the same (isn't hot at all) and it also makes my soup oily for some odd reason. The broth is clear, but very bland and lacks a lot of flavor. A plus is that it seems like they skimmed the fat at the top of the broth--but the broth is so watery, so I'm not sure what fat they would even have to skim to begin with. Maybe that's why some people like this place so much, but TRUST, you can get a good bowl of pho with a clear broth and have it taste flavorful if they took the time to simmer the broth and harness the flavors from the bones. When I take a sip of my pho broth, I want my mouth to be PUNCHED with flavor, spices, and aromatics. Sadly, I did not get a punch from the soup. I've tried the summer rolls and spring rolls, which were good--these things are hard to mess up on. Overall, everything about this place is just okay. The pho is not that close to authentic. Nothing special that wows me or reminds me of my mom's cooking. Good and quick service though. Food also comes out very quick despite how busy they are. Their new location is a lot more spacious and clean. I would probably end up coming back if my friends want pho and only wants to drive to this place because of how close it is to Rutgers. read more

I was a long time customer and just ate at the new location next to Shoprite. I ordered a fresh spring roll and there was a hair in one of the rice wraps. I understand accidents happen. I asked the waitress who has been there a long time with the restaurant to replace the roll. She took the roll and supposedly gave me a new one. She wrapped it to go. When I returned home I noticed it was the same wrap with the hair cut out of it. I thought I could trust the employees not to scam me out of a 5 dollar roll. This business was too cheap to give me a new order, they don't care about their customers and their business practices are sneaky. The food is okay for the location but would not last a day in NYC with much better Vietnamese restaurants. The price of the food is comparable to manhattan restaurants. I will not be coming again and will no longer recommend this place. There are two better Vietnamese restaurants around the corner from them. read more

I used to love the pho here! Perhaps they got a new chef, but the past couple times I had been, the pho was inedibly salty. The very first time i experienced this I added a whole cup of hot water and it was still ridiculously salty. I tried it again a week after hoping it was just a one day thing but my pho was even saltier the second time around. Both times i left having only a couple spoonfuls of pho and couldnt eat anymore. Let me say this the food quality in this place has gone horribly bad. I been here numerous time even in the old location. I ordered the pho noodle soup, and the soup base was super salty and tasted weird, and the beef tasted like it has been in the fridge for a while. The worst part of all is the noodle, tasted like soaked up cardboard pieces, and the noodle came apart in the soup instantly. The only good thing is the staff, they were nice. It's a Vietnamese restaurant but they make amazing Thai ice tea! I wish I could have discover this spot sooner. I love the beef wrapped in grape leaves it's so good. Pretty authentic food, you can tell by what they offer on their menu. Everyone speaks Vietnamese so it couldn't get more authentic than that. The place is clean and big! Came with my hubby and my in-laws.... we had 2 orders of XL combo pho, 1 shrimp pho, and 1 bun bo hue. For appetizer we had the fresh spring rolls and rice crepes. The appetizers were great and tasted fresh. The noodle soups were piping hot and purely awesome. These folks here make their soups from scratch and we can taste the love. Ate here with my family. The food was okay, not bad but not great. The restaurant had only two waiters. Bad if you go and it's full with people. We ordered the beef salad and Vietnamese spring rolls, chicken curry. The price isn't bad. I'm not really a Vietnamese foodie so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much. read more

It's one of the better places in the area for Vietnamese food. The food comes out pretty quickly, and the service isn't bad. Pho: #24 Pho Xe Lau (XL) $10.25 The soup isn't too heavy/oily like some pho restaurants and the portions are good for the price. The pho comes out really fast (5 mins) which is great when I'm on lunch break and it's always been fresh. They give a decent amount of meat, and it's probably around 700 calories give or take 100. The sodium levels are probably on the higher end but overall it's not too bad. To my fellow college students, this is great hangover food! Rice dish: #65. Com ga nuong $8-$9 For lunch it's a great deal ($8) but even for dinner it's still worth it. The meal is quite simple, with rice and chicken. The chicken's tender and tasty, so the calorie count is kinda a mystery but I'd say 800 is a fair estimate. Comes with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes which pair well with the meal. Definitely recommend pouring the yellowish sauce on it for flavor. read more

Nothing special about the food but it is decent for what is it worth. A bit pricey when it comes to the menu compared to other places. Staff honestly is not very good. Seems to be staffed with a lot of part timers. Food comes out quickly but little to no customer care. They seem too inexperienced. I like the decor especially the TV. The head waiter is wonderful and is very caring. Layout is cramped and not very clean. The tables smell as if they have only been wiped with water and no soap. Never really dry. Didn't realize that Pho Anh Dao moved to this new location until recently but was so glad to find them again. Service is excellent. We were immediately accommodated when we arrived. The food was just as I remembered it from their previous location. The new location is so much bigger and no longer feels cramped like the old restaurant. Although, noticed the prices are a bit higher than before. (hence the 4 stars) All in all a great place to get Vietnamese food! Been here a couple times, always seem to have the same two dishes every time I walked in. I start off with the Vietnamese egg rolls which are hands down one of the best egg rolls I ever tasted. The egg rolls are crispy and extremely flavorful and it often makes me want to order more! Second dish I order is the Pho Xe Lua (#24) great pho with a combo of meats, a huge plus for me is how flavorful the broth is. Great place to hit up if you're in the mood for some PHO. read more

This is one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. It took us a while to find them again after they closed their old store on Route 1. Nice to find them again. This new store inside the Shoprite strip mall is bigger and so the seatings are more comfortable. Strongly recommend the crab meat rice noodle and durian shake if you like durian. read more

I like this place a lot. When I moved to the area, I was looking for a decent Vietnamese restaurant. A friend recommended Pho Anh Dao to me. I am forever grateful. Pho is very good. I love the broth, the noodles, etc. The spring rolls, which are my favorite non-main dish item, are fresh. The rice dishes (like rice with BBQ chicken or BBQ pork, etc.) are very good also. I have never ordered anything at this place that I did not like. I also take my close friends here. They all have said that they liked it. So if you want good Vietnamese food around central Jersey, try Pho Anh Dao. read more

I just ate here an hour back and I would rate this place a good 4/5. It's not spectacular because their food is simple but it's very delicious. It's had to find places like these at times. You're not going to taste it and be like "Oh this is the Best Pho I have had" nor are you going to be like "It is just OK". But you're going to be satisfied with the taste and quantity. The broth has a lot of flavour and spices in them. The grilled pork chop in my Pho was a 5/5. It was sweet and spicy , fresh and tender and plentiful. It's inexpensive and staff is very friendly.
