Spirit Lifter (Vegan)

This is such a cozy ramen spot in Metuchen! The walls are decorated with past customers, and they blast lots of EDM. Plenty of street parking available, which is free after 6pm. - Spicy Tonkotsu, 4/5: doesn't taste extremely authentic, with chunks of red onion, but the soup was flavorful and deep. the pork itself was a bit dry, tough to chew - Vegetarian Curry Ramen, 3.5/5: my friend got this one- I got to taste a bit. I think my friend enjoyed it, but I don't think it was my cup of tea There's not too many ramen places in the Metuchen area- so I recommend giving it a try. ty for reading B^)

Always delicious, full of flavor, an a great experience! Service is friendly and atmosphere welcoming. A nice small spot that truly feeds the soul. I remember coming here a few years back when they first opened and to see them blossom into where they are now makes me so happy!

Menya Ramen House serves the best Spicy Miso Ramen in town. Perfect on a nice cold weather together with beef gyoza, squid takoyaki and chicken karaage as starters. Great food, excellent service and cozy ambiance. This Ramen house is highly recommended!

This is my teen's favorite ramen spot. I've never been here and it's been busy. The ramen is great. The service is quick and it's in a convenient location. There is parking across the street.

The perfect place to stop for a casual dine in for great ramen. The menu is simple, but the flavor is BOLD. I opted for the spirit lifter. Super flavorful. We were impressed by the plentiful portions. My husband enjoyed one of the spicy ramen options. The only downside would be sitting on a stool (not the most comfy) and the proteins like the chicken and pork not being cut prior to serving. The service was quick and friendly. I appreciated that they offer gluten free noodles and are knowledgeable on what else, other than the noodles, contains gluten. I would recommend this spot if you're looking to grab some good ramen.

Nice little ramen shop located in Metuchen. I got the shio ramen and it was very good. Smaller seating area which is the only downfall if the place is busy. Love mom and pop restaurants. Nice friendly service.

Fried CRISPY Chicken Wings (6 PCS) - ate half then remembered to take a picture (they ARE that good!)

Definitely recommend!! We have been here a few times and it is always a hit! No matter what we choose to try on the menu, we are never disappointed; and they do change up the menu and/or have seasonal options, all worth trying! They are typically more busy on the weekends, where you may have to sit on the wall facing stools, but still worth the experience and food! Plus you get to look thru all of their customer pictures with intriguing quotes (you have to be there to get it). Their fried chicken is delicious!! Fresh and perfectly Crispy, just right! And ofcourse their Ramen options are all flavorful & worth giving them a try, whether veggie or not - all options are tasty! Friendly, efficiency and quick service every time!

Spicy Miso Tonkotsu

My co-workers and I visited this place for lunch during team-building day last month. We didn't have reservations and it was lunch time so we took a risk coming here. Although we were a large group and it was a small place, they were able to accommodate all of us, which I deeply appreciated. Service was fast, efficient, and did not disappoint! I ordered the Spicy Miso Tonkatsu Ramen and loved it! It really does live up to the hype! I have to admit I'm not one for spicy, but it had the right amount of heat that I can handle. It was very filling and satisfying! It was a culinary adventure and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. There is no doubt we will return.

Kimchi Gyoza

The spicy miso tonkotsu ramen was really good on a cold evening. Hearty broth with the mildest of kicks. The kimchi gyoza was a tad too greasy.

Vegan Ramen but made it vegetarian with the egg & removed the tofu! Don't forget to ask for spicy oil!
Erin B.

they have the best vegetarian Ramen I have ever had. The owners are incredibly nice, the service is kind and fast. They take pictures with a Polaroid and post them on the wall so it's a really cool to be part of their decorated wall! I'm actually on there 3x i believe!

Good food, great vibe. The service was good and attentive. Great Ramen for a cold evening!

This tiny place is Located right off the main St in Metuchen . Service was fairly decent considering they were pretty busy . Menu is fairly simple . I ordered the spicy kaisen ramen which had a decent amount to flavor but the shoyu it lacked any flavor . The gyoza and the Karrage Don were pretty good appetizers. I was slightly disappointed with our meal I will say my expectations are pretty high when it comes ramen . But it's definitely worth a try !

Chastity R.

Cute place. Clean. Bright. A little perturbed that they sat me at a counter when the whole dining room was empty. Kind servers. Hearty bowl of ramen. Very filling and the marinated pork had just the right amount of fat. Preferred the wavy noodles but the straight ones were yummy too. Didn't like the raw red onions and could've done without them. Wasn't my favorite ramen but it was top 5.

We had a party of 6 and still had to wait about 25 minutes for a table as the place is pretty small. Right after we sat down we accidentally spilled a glass of water and it took so much effort to flag down a waiter to get some napkins. They didn't even help us clean it up, we could barely mop up what was on spilled on the table because they gave us very little napkins. Then when we asked for more napkins when the food came out the waitress counted it out and gave us exactly 6, one for each person. As for the food, a big disappointment. The tuna was not the bright pink color it normally is and instead had a dark red/purple hue to it, a little concerning. The yellowtail and squid were super chewy. The mackeral was very fishy, which I understand mackeral is on the fishy side for raw fish but I've had it in Japan where is was the exact opposite. Honestly, the only fresh tasting fish was the salmon. The food was slow to come out even though the wait staff was very attentive with grabbing our menu orders. Most likely will not be returning.

I've eaten at Ottoyee for months now, and each experience has been incredibly delicious. However, the only thing is that the wait time can run very long. Not for the food to arrive, but for placing the order. We tried to get the attention of the waiter on staff multiple times, but was either ignored or they were behind the screen attending to something else. The wait time was around 15-20 minutes, but this is likely attributed to the small staff. Otherwise though, they were incredibly kind and knowledgeable of the menu and we still had a delicious experience as usual.

Upon entertaining on a weekend evening, there were a few tables with patrons but not too busy. The restaurant did seem a bit understaffed with only one person taking orders / bringing food out, making it difficult to flag down this one person to successfully take our order and ask for anything additional throughout the night. Gyudon: for the price, we were really surprised at how small of a portion this was. It was not only in a small bowl, but the meat was layered on top perfectly deceiving you to think that there was more than there actually was. The majority of this dish was rice, and with limited sauce at that. As displayed on the menu images it was to be served with a runny egg, but unfortunately we got a fully cooked one (disappointing, as we were looking for something to mix with the rice!) Sushi: We got a 3 rolls and they were just alright. They were pretty small in size, with less rice than I'm used to (which is something I do like - I would rather more fish than rice!) With us getting spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy scallop - they all kind of tasted the same, so I wish the fish wasn't as heavily masked with spicy mayo. Ramen: I got the black garlic ramen, and it wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst. I've purchased fresh ramen packages in the supermarket before and it tasted just like that, so it made me disappointed knowing I could achieve the same at home. The soup itself was extremely rich and fatty, and the charsiu had no flavor whatsoever leaving much to be desired. The main reason I'm rating this so low is upon having my last bites of sushi, I could tell something was off. I don't recall which specifically I had but I made a statement that it was extremely fishy and off putting. Fast forward later that night, I was hunched over the toilet vomiting with stomach pain - and I can deduct that the sushi was the culprit. I might consider trying Ottoyee again due to the great deals they have listed on food delivery apps, but the sushi quality (quite literally) put a bad taste in my mouth.

Like many people today, I'm mindful of what I spend dining out, so I expect good value for the price. Since I live in South Jersey, I brought the food home to eat later. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The ramen included four slices of chashu (pork belly), but three of those slices were entirely fat with no meat. I understand that pork belly naturally contains fat--that's part of what makes it flavorful--but receiving pieces that were essentially all fat made the dish unpleasant and felt like poor quality control. I called the restaurant to share my concern, but the response was underwhelming. I was simply told the manager would be informed. When I asked if there was anything further that could be done, I received no real resolution--just a basic explanation of what pork belly is. As someone who understands the product, that explanation missed the point. The issue wasn't what chashu is--it was the quality of what was served. Everything else about the meal was fine, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. However, customer service matters just as much as the food. A simple effort to address the issue or offer a solution would have made a big difference. As a former business owner, I've always believed customer satisfaction should be a top priority. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and for that reason, I won't be returning.
