I would location this place 3.5 stars. I hadn't visited this place in years, but stopped by for lunch on a Monday. It was busy, as expected, with nearly every table filled. They took our order right away, but the wait was quite long--many other groups were also waiting for their food. This place used to be real quick, and tasty place to get pho and my go to spot. Obviously there is history here since it's been open for years and they used to be open really late at night, until an incident happened from what I believe during the late hours. As of may 2026, if you are coming on a weekend, prepare to wait 1-1.5 hours for a bowl of pho. I'm not exaggerating. Whoever is working back there making the pho bowl is working at the pace of a sloth. Yes the pho is good, but not worth to wait 2 hours. I came here on a Saturday at 10:30, 30 minutes after they opened and it was already a full house with only one table having their bowl of pho. Every other table had no food yet LOL. I guess they only start prepping food after they open? The ambiance is that everyone is just on their phones waiting for their pho, overheard a few other tables say they were getting sleepy and considering even going to TK noodle (yes the wait was that bad) IDK this place used to be really efficient, and the food still is good but please get more help for the kitchen staff to speed up the process. Pho Anh Dao is a Sacramento staple. They've been around for over 20 years. I remember coming here as a kid when they had a full on menu with a variety of Vietnamese cuisines. Today, they just offer 2 dishes on their menu, beef or chicken pho. They do offer the beef and chicken pho a few different ways but that's really all there is to their food menu. They also have a non-alcoholic drink menu with sodas and a couple of dessert drinks. I came on a Monday, 15 minutes before opening, and there was already a line out the door! I can see why, the pho still tastes as good as I remember it over 15 years ago. However, the down side... they take forever. My friend got me to try this place a few years ago when I was going through chemo and didn't feel well most of the time. He suggested Pho Anh Dao and it would make me feel better. He recommended the chicken pho with glass noodles and ordered the beef bone marrow. When I tell you the Pho was delicious and the broth is so flavorful it definitely hit the spot. When I tell you I did start to feel better not so dehydrated and sickly we were coming here frequently. The service is always wonderful and staff is always so friendly. The inside of the restaurant itself is nothing special, but does have plenty of seating to dine in. The open at 10am and a line starts to form around 9:40am so if you're not there early you will be on a waitlist. This place is cash only!! So bring plenty of it lol. The prices are fantastic and you get generous portions. This is my favorite pho spot as it continues to bounce me back. This is the best medicine. read more

Not sure if it's the ridiculous wait time for a bowl of pre assemble soup that kick up your "RAVENOUS" or what - but it was worth it in my humble opinion. -This was my regular spot prior to the food coming out like a normal pho spot and not tasting the same. -Combination Pho - was yummy and hearty. (aka SacFoodFromAbove on social medias) we got to check out this yummy pho stop that he had put on our radar. So when Alex first suggested that Annie, Richard and I join him for a 10am brunch at Pho Anh Dao, I was a bit confused - but NOW it all makes sense! If anything, the restaurant made this reality clear to me by having a 10am start time in which they serve Pho! (Hey, if the *legit* Vietnamese community is doing this, than it must be right!) LE MENU There were so many options to choose from including beef Pho and beef bones to add to your meal. How I order is one large chicken pho and clear noodle. . I love how the broth is clear and taste savory like chicken broth. Chicken pho 5/5 Apparently, this is the place to go to for chicken pho in Sacramento. It did not disappoint. Pretty busy when we came for lunch. This cute little grandpa took our order. They don't give you menus, so you have to know what you want when they come take your order. We waited about 30 minutes for our Pho to come out, this seems to be pretty consistent from previous reviews. So if you have little ones, bring something to entertain them. Came here on a late weekend afternoon with my wife. The only options available were beef or chicken pho with different variations of the add-ons. We tried to order the Pho Dac Biet (Combination Pho), however by the time we got there, most of the ingredients were out of stock. The only add-ons available were the Rare steak, tripe and beef ball which I decided to get. The pho overall was good but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Service was ok but I feel like it could have been better. Perhaps it was the difference in language and culture? Parking was a bit difficult as the lot is small but managed to find one near the front. I would be willing to give this place another chance. Good food. However service is lacking a lot. The person at the register can try their hardest, but the wait staff, the long cook times etc makes it impossible to get any good service at all. Literally walked in for a take out order, and I witnessed the most horrendous customer service from an older short haired man who did not look Vietnamese. Slow to make an order, slow to get items (one item in his hand every time and it's small), won't give you a proper order, does some chicken scratch like it's authentic Cantonese (fake writing - only two menu options), and will be genuinely rude to people if they try to make small talk. I watched this poor girl, sit down and try to make small talk and got the rudest response from everyone. She was asking for a waitress that worked there. Then the old dude literally responds that she doesn't work there cause they don't need her. Only thing this place has going for it is good food. Bad parking space, people will threaten the safety of your vehicle for parking in the wrong spot, 3 noodle places literally 10 feet away from each other, and people don't look where they are driving or walking. It's almost as if they make you wait to make it appear that their food is good. There are better places, but this place sold to someone else. How do I know this? The bowls used to have a yellow stain from their soup. It's no longer there. The original taste is gone, and you get this Hawaiian looking dude and cook now in the background. Still good isn't bad. Just not as good as before, or to compete for long. Oh and my take out order was wrong. Two items (chicken or beef), hard to mess it up. But again, the fake old guy writing chicken scratches... not to mention he noticed me waiting and did some odd tinder swipe to me when he noticed I was waiting for a long time. Even stared n put his face close to mine. All I did was ask for dark chicken meat, which appears is not an option as he said mixed and that was the end. They can't deviate or afford to change the menu. This is because the original owner / cook is not there. If you can walk there, bike there, have the time and patience of a saint, it's worth it. I was there mid-Sept- chicken pho was good and price is decent. Service is ok, they have alot of older uncles working there and trying to make a living so I can't complain. It's not the best but its ok. What I can't handle is the young lady who worked at the front cashier(she looked of mixed race), I assume she is the owner's close family member.. She is rude and just nasty mean! Verbally abusive and condescending. She was yelling and cussed at the older uncle who was busing the tables there. Called him f-ing stupid.. Watching how hard these uncles work and trying their best, it broke my heart to pieces. I dare her to tell at a young customer and she will have it coming for her. So sad and uncalled for.
