    Shrimp and pork spring roll
    Kourtney W.

Had lunch with my brother and his wife today here and I have to say I'm shocked! The restaurant itself seems very small and cramped sort of. The service was wonderful.. we did ask for a lot of things and never once did she give any attitude .. always with a smile! I had the special bun Bo hue .. and. Shared some spring roll appetizers .. the spring roll was fresh and the peanut sauce was ok. The bun bo hue on the other hand was delicious! The broth was full of flavor.. I have to say It's one of the best broth in sac for bun bo hue. Must try! Let me know what you think of it also!

Opted for the bun Bo hue and the nem nuong. Both solid options. The bun Bo hue, needed a bit more spice and I wanted a stronger lemongrass flavor but over all still very tasty. They didn't skimp on the proteins so the bowl is packed with meats. I like how they did add additional chili and shrimp paste on the side with out having to ask for it. They even let you pick your own style of noodles for their bowls. But I went with the standard thick rice noodle for my dish. The space is self is quaint, but they do have a good amount of seating. The tables are branded with another store - Goldpops, and the color scheme and decor seem to match the old space, but I'm assuming they've just rebranded and kept the previous furniture. The wait time to get our food wasn't too bad. Overall, I'd return.

We stopped by around 11:30 a.m. for an early lunch and were the first customers in, so we were seated right away. My friend and I both ordered the grilled pork and egg rolls with vermicelli noodles. We asked to leave off the peanuts and add extra bean sprouts. The food arrived fairly quickly. The grilled pork had great flavor, though it could have used a bit more char. A few pieces were also fatty and somewhat tough to chew. The egg rolls were actually very good, with a perfectly crispy exterior and flavorful filling inside. Overall, it was a good spot for Vietnamese food. The biggest plus is the convenience, since it is less than five minutes from my house.

#3 Bun Nem Nuong Dac Biet

Clean, bright inside, service good and friendly. Great food! I ordered Bun Nem Noung Dac Biet. Nice, fresh taste. I really noticed the garlic in the Nem Nuong. It was cooked great and very soft. Everything else was a great balance and tasted yummy! My wife had the Bun Bo Hue. It was just the perfect level of spiciness. It was not too hot; just perfect. They did bring various spices so you can make it as hot as you want. She said it was very good and everything was fresh. Our daughter had the "Ready-to-Enjoy Spring Rolls" (pre-rolled). I really liked that the pickled veggies were cut a little thicker than the ones we make at home and at other places. This gave it a nice crunch. The veggies were fresh and crisp. Definitely got to order these again, but maybe we'll try the House Special DIY. I really enjoyed our meal there and we will be back for sure?

Bun Bo Hue 3.5/5 - Delicious! Just not what I fell in love with in Saigon last 2 months!

Since they opened, I've gone here 3 times! It's only a mile from my house and the food is fresh and delicious! I was just in Vietnam for two months and the food there is just so good. It's hard to compare, but the way they do their noodle salad is spot on. The BBH is ok, I just kept eating at the same place in Saigon, District 3 because it was so good. It's hard to beat! However, the amount of protein they give here is abundant! After eating all the veggies & noodles, we still had so much meat left! We ate it all and agreed the meat portions here are definitely sharable. And the seafood eggrolls, my kids love it, but I love the original ones! I'm so sad I didn't get a picture of it with my huge noodle salad bowl! It was murder she wrote! Also, this place must be family owned because we see the same little crew and they are so sweet. Because their menu is small, they were able to get the food out to us quickly and very fresh. I believe that's also how they're able to be so generous with their portions is because they keep their menu very simple! The ambiance is bright, clean, welcoming and intimate! Highly recommend! It'll satisfy your Vietnamese food craving and not break your bank account!

Wanted to try a new place to eat and this came up. Always willing to eat Viet food. Restaurant was not busy at all when we walked in on a weekday for an early dinner. Service was great. Menu is limited to bbh, vermicelli plates, banh mis, and spring rolls. We tried the vermicelli plate and spring rolls. They were really tasty. Only thing was the place was a bit pricey. Was about $50 for two vermicelli plates and 4 spring rolls. Overall, we'd come back. Maybe try the banh mis next time

Drove past Dutch Bro and saw this place. I came in here with my sister to give it a try. I was pretty disappointed on the bun mi, the baguette was super hard and chewy. We ordered a couple of appetizers, 1 bun mi sandwich, and 1 bun Bo hue. The egg rolls and bun Bo hue was decent but nothing to rave about. My two nieces shared the vermicelli noodles. There's only one wait staff and the tables are crammed together. Overall, the service is slow and you have to ask for everything. Dinning area is not comfortable, they jam too much tables in a small space. The furnishings don't match. Most likely will not return.

Nice to see this new spot near my house offering a variety of classic Vietnamese dishes! I went for the vermicelli bowl today with the pork sausage and the pork egg roll. The egg roll was yummy, nice and crispy but it was just so small! It was like they cut it into smaller pieces just to make it seem like more quantity. The dish overall was small also. I wasn't full after like I would be at other places with the same dish. The meat tasted good but overall was nothing too special to be honest. I think I'd rather pay for a bigger portion elsewhere and get better value. I do hope they succeed though because this particular location seems to switch businesses quite often.

Glad a Vietnamese restaurant is around the corner. This place is really cozy and has cute decor. The nice lady asked if we wanted hot or cold water. How nice to have the option! Got hot water since it's cold out. Ordered the nem noung rolls, bun Bo hue and grilled pork banh mi. All tasted fresh, crispy and delicious. Great service and food.

This is a really cute and cozy Viet restaurant! Although the space is a bit tight, they organized it the best they could and everything looks great. Their menu is small, specializing specifically to bun bo hue (one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes ever)! So had to get that and their spring rolls! I really liked the spring rolls! The bun bo hue was good too, just not the best I've had and could use more flavor. Theirs is really loaded with meats so that's always a good point! Great service as well!

Service was slow, and our food took a long time to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy. The bigger issue was the payment process. The menu displays one set of prices, but when paying by credit card, each item on the receipt appeared approximately 4% higher than the advertised menu price. Rather than showing a separate credit-card surcharge, the additional amount was built directly into the itemized food prices, making it difficult to determine the actual menu cost versus the card-processing charge. When I raised the issue, the server initially stated there was a credit-card fee and acknowledged that both payment options should have been presented. The server also pointed out that there was a small sign next to the register indicating a 4% credit card fee. However, I felt the concern was dismissed rather than addressed. If menu prices are cash prices, customers should be clearly informed and given a meaningful opportunity to choose between cash and credit pricing before being directed to the payment screen. What makes this feel deceptive is that the surcharge is not shown as a separate line item. Instead, it appears to be folded directly into the food prices on the receipt. As a customer, that makes it difficult to know how much of the total is actually food and how much is a credit-card fee. It creates the impression that the pricing is designed to obscure the surcharge rather than disclose it transparently. The payment terminal also calculated suggested tips on the total after tax rather than the food subtotal, resulting in higher suggested tip amounts. Between the hidden surcharge in the item prices and tip suggestions based on the after-tax total, it felt like a subtle way to collect more money from customers without clearly explaining how the charges were being calculated. The food was good, especially the Nem Nuong Cuon, but the lack of transparency around pricing and the slow service left a negative impression.

The menu had a bit too much going on and in my opinion -- restaurants should have a speciality rather than offer so many items because taste and quality loses itself somewhere in the middle of 100 different menu options. I know my partner and I are pho snobs but what we had wasn't even pho. The broth was basically hot water with a tad of salt or chicken bouillon. There were no hints of star anise, cinnamon (often referred to as Saigon cinnamon), cloves, black cardamom, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds -- nada. And the noodles were way too overcooked making my dish so difficult to eat. I ordered pho and it looked like pho -- but it tasted nothing close to it. I need to share that as a reality to the owner and staff so they can make changes to the quality of their food -- otherwise, I don't know if this place will survive the competition. Also, I observed a staff member behind the counter blending a smoothie of some sort, tasting it with a spoon, and then putting back said spoon into the smoothie to stir before pouring it into a cup (and I saw the cup delivered to a party a few tables down from us). That probably isn't very hygienic and it's sad to see that's how things are handled behind the scenes here. I just happened to look over from our table and was pretty disgusted. Moving on, I hope these guys shape up because the quality and taste of food was actually bad. And, I can rarely say that about restaurants I patronize because I love supporting local small businesses. Best of luck to these guys.

Grilled Butterflied Catfish DIY Wraps (Spring Rolls) 4/5* Tay Giang's version is ok and can satisfy my cravings, but it is a copy-cat version of the original slow-baked catfish from Southern California. It seems the catfish here is deep-fried, I believe to cut down on the wait time, but I still prefer the original Vietnamese version where they can take up to 45 minutes to slow roast the catfish. Still, this version is tasty with strong marination and slather of scallion/peanut oil. The deep frying creates a lot of crispy pieces for added texture to your spring roll. But warning.. if you order the small catfish, there isn't much meat and is mostly fried crispy parts, so I recommend the medium fish. Like all Vietnamese dishes, it comes with loads of fresh veggies and herbs. I also like that they provide the flattened vermicelli noodles (banh hoi) instead of rice noodles. They also give you a variety of sauces: tamarind fish sauce, regular fish sauce, and freshly chopped chilis to spice up as you'd like. Authentic Catfish Claypot 5/5* Catfish stewed in a peppery carmelized sauce. They didn't have the usual boiled egg with it, but this dish was bursting in flavor. Sweet, salty, savory, and lots of black pepper with hints of spice from the rest chilis. Best eaten with rice to soak up all the sticky sauce and flavor. This dish sends me back to my childhood days. Bun Bo Hue 4/5* Flavorful and lots of meats and veggies. I'm not a spicy eater, so I thoroughly enjoyed this BBH. Most other places make it too spicy right off the bat, but here they let you add your own spice. The noodles are springy and broth is perfectly salted to enhance the beefy flavors. Banh Xeo 1/5* Don't get this. This was terrible. The batter was so thick and deep fried, inside had too much bean sprouts and onions and not enough pork or shrimp. I've never seen onions in a banh xeo before and it was weird. The batter was what really ruined everything. Banh Xeo is supposed to be thin and crispy, but this was thick and crunchy. I've also tried their pho here and it was decent but not memorable. The star here, of course, is the catfish spring rolls. They do have an extensive menu though, serving a variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes and well as vegetarian-friendly. They've gone thru tough times during the pandemic and I've seen vandalism and broken windows, but I'm glad they survived the pandemic, because this is the spot when it comes to Vietnamese catfish dishes. I'm hoping they stick around for many more years; we often frequent Tay Giang for dinner.

We decided on pho at Sit Lo Saigon after reading the reviews on Yelp from a few Yelp friends that I respect. Parking at this restaurant is plentiful as it shares a lot with many other businesses in a busy shopping plaza. This is the kind of place that you walk up to the counter and place your order then they assign you a seat. Its a very casual ,comfortable restaurant. There were two of us eating so we decided to go with the #3($15.95)which is with just brisket & the #4($15.95) which is brisket and meatballs. After a few minutes of sitting down, they brought our bowls out-I'd say less than 6-7 minutes. My first response was "WOW!!" The sheer size of that bowl is what struck me-it was huge. Then again for $15.95,I think it makes sense. I'm a weirdo when it comes to pho,as I eat mine in a particular way.I drink all the broth before eating any of the noodles or meats or side additions. So after doctoring this bowl up with the sides, onions, bean sprouts, jalapeños,lime,Thai basil and chili oil-I went to town on that broth. I thoroughly enjoyed that broth,It had a rich flavor that truly only comes from a long simmering process-It was very good. After enjoying all that broth,I went after the brisket and noodles, Slurp City for sure!! The noodles were wonderful and the brisket was nicely flavored and textured. I really enjoyed my #3 from Sit Lo Saigon. That being said, after dissecting their menu a bit,I feel like I missed out on some quality items. The Oxtail or the Bone Marrow versions of their pho sounds like they would be a whole different level-so I plan on coming back when I'm out here and plan on giving one or both of those pho bowls a try-they sound amazing and if the broth in those versions are anything like the #3,it will for sure be a memorable meal. In closing,If you find yourself out in Elk Grove and find yourself craving some amazing pho,I'd recommend fully stopping by Sit Lo Saigon and giving their tasty dishes a try.

My only complaint is that the pho spoons look like they have been used and abused. They are kind of unsightly. Other than that, I will be a returning customer!
