    BBH #2
    Monica T.

Sadly, they changed the cut of meat they use for their grilled pork. It is a lot drier and I don't enjoy it. I do like their nem nuong but it's not nearly as good as the grilled pork they used to make. Their BBH is really good imo. They give banana shank which I love. The broth itself isn't spicy at all (you can add spice to it) but it tastes so clean and flavorful. I end up drinking all the soup which I never do at other places. The side veggies are fresh and they give a lot of meats too. Note: I recommend calling prior to coming if it's not on the way for you. Idk if it's still a thing but we've ran into them being randomly closed on multiple occasions so we usually call first.

Last month or so, I tried to come eat here, but they were closed and there were no business hours posted at the entrance or on Yelp. I had to call them today to make sure they were opened because it seems like they're opened randomly even though it says they're only closed on Mondays. 1. Spring rolls came with peanut sauce that was heated up in the microwave. You can tell when you look at the picture I posted. Other than that, the spring roll was mediocre, nothing special. 2. The bun bo hue broth was good. It was clear, but the flavor was there. They have different noodle options, which was kind of odd. The thick rice noodle is the one you want to choose. I think I would come back for the bun ho hue if I can catch them when they're opened.

Had lunch with my brother and his wife today here and I have to say I'm shocked! The restaurant itself seems very small and cramped sort of. The service was wonderful.. we did ask for a lot of things and never once did she give any attitude .. always with a smile! I had the special bun Bo hue .. and. Shared some spring roll appetizers .. the spring roll was fresh and the peanut sauce was ok. The bun bo hue on the other hand was delicious! The broth was full of flavor.. I have to say It's one of the best broth in sac for bun bo hue. Must try! Let me know what you think of it also!

Opted for the bun Bo hue and the nem nuong. Both solid options. The bun Bo hue, needed a bit more spice and I wanted a stronger lemongrass flavor but over all still very tasty. They didn't skimp on the proteins so the bowl is packed with meats. I like how they did add additional chili and shrimp paste on the side with out having to ask for it. They even let you pick your own style of noodles for their bowls. But I went with the standard thick rice noodle for my dish. The space is self is quaint, but they do have a good amount of seating. The tables are branded with another store - Goldpops, and the color scheme and decor seem to match the old space, but I'm assuming they've just rebranded and kept the previous furniture. The wait time to get our food wasn't too bad. Overall, I'd return.

Finally tried this place ive been eyeing it since i drive thru the dutch bro where its near.Went on a thursday at noon and the place was empty. Place is small but looked clean and bright. The iconic picture of Anthony Bordain eating in vietnam brought a smile to our faces. We all ordered the same thing- seafood eggroll and vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and shrimp. We all loved the eggroll with the mayo based dipping sauce i would order that again. I felt the grilled pork could have been grilled more looked a little pale the shrimp was good plump and juicy. Service was good and polite. Id come back to try some pho and get more of those eggrolls!

We stopped by around 11:30 a.m. for an early lunch and were the first customers in, so we were seated right away. My friend and I both ordered the grilled pork and egg rolls with vermicelli noodles. We asked to leave off the peanuts and add extra bean sprouts. The food arrived fairly quickly. The grilled pork had great flavor, though it could have used a bit more char. A few pieces were also fatty and somewhat tough to chew. The egg rolls were actually very good, with a perfectly crispy exterior and flavorful filling inside. Overall, it was a good spot for Vietnamese food. The biggest plus is the convenience, since it is less than five minutes from my house.

Clean, bright inside, service good and friendly. Great food! I ordered Bun Nem Noung Dac Biet. Nice, fresh taste. I really noticed the garlic in the Nem Nuong. It was cooked great and very soft. Everything else was a great balance and tasted yummy! My wife had the Bun Bo Hue. It was just the perfect level of spiciness. It was not too hot; just perfect. They did bring various spices so you can make it as hot as you want. She said it was very good and everything was fresh. Our daughter had the "Ready-to-Enjoy Spring Rolls" (pre-rolled). I really liked that the pickled veggies were cut a little thicker than the ones we make at home and at other places. This gave it a nice crunch. The veggies were fresh and crisp. Definitely got to order these again, but maybe we'll try the House Special DIY. I really enjoyed our meal there and we will be back for sure?

Bun Bo Hue 3.5/5 - Delicious! Just not what I fell in love with in Saigon last 2 months!

Since they opened, I've gone here 3 times! It's only a mile from my house and the food is fresh and delicious! I was just in Vietnam for two months and the food there is just so good. It's hard to compare, but the way they do their noodle salad is spot on. The BBH is ok, I just kept eating at the same place in Saigon, District 3 because it was so good. It's hard to beat! However, the amount of protein they give here is abundant! After eating all the veggies & noodles, we still had so much meat left! We ate it all and agreed the meat portions here are definitely sharable. And the seafood eggrolls, my kids love it, but I love the original ones! I'm so sad I didn't get a picture of it with my huge noodle salad bowl! It was murder she wrote! Also, this place must be family owned because we see the same little crew and they are so sweet. Because their menu is small, they were able to get the food out to us quickly and very fresh. I believe that's also how they're able to be so generous with their portions is because they keep their menu very simple! The ambiance is bright, clean, welcoming and intimate! Highly recommend! It'll satisfy your Vietnamese food craving and not break your bank account!

Wanted to try a new place to eat and this came up. Always willing to eat Viet food. Restaurant was not busy at all when we walked in on a weekday for an early dinner. Service was great. Menu is limited to bbh, vermicelli plates, banh mis, and spring rolls. We tried the vermicelli plate and spring rolls. They were really tasty. Only thing was the place was a bit pricey. Was about $50 for two vermicelli plates and 4 spring rolls. Overall, we'd come back. Maybe try the banh mis next time

Drove past Dutch Bro and saw this place. I came in here with my sister to give it a try. I was pretty disappointed on the bun mi, the baguette was super hard and chewy. We ordered a couple of appetizers, 1 bun mi sandwich, and 1 bun Bo hue. The egg rolls and bun Bo hue was decent but nothing to rave about. My two nieces shared the vermicelli noodles. There's only one wait staff and the tables are crammed together. Overall, the service is slow and you have to ask for everything. Dinning area is not comfortable, they jam too much tables in a small space. The furnishings don't match. Most likely will not return.

Nice to see this new spot near my house offering a variety of classic Vietnamese dishes! I went for the vermicelli bowl today with the pork sausage and the pork egg roll. The egg roll was yummy, nice and crispy but it was just so small! It was like they cut it into smaller pieces just to make it seem like more quantity. The dish overall was small also. I wasn't full after like I would be at other places with the same dish. The meat tasted good but overall was nothing too special to be honest. I think I'd rather pay for a bigger portion elsewhere and get better value. I do hope they succeed though because this particular location seems to switch businesses quite often.

    Bun Bo hue

This place is my go-to hole in a wall spot. Both the bbh and the nem nuong spring rolls are delicious. The place is quaint and has a perfect level of service for a small restaurant.

Glad a Vietnamese restaurant is around the corner. This place is really cozy and has cute decor. The nice lady asked if we wanted hot or cold water. How nice to have the option! Got hot water since it's cold out. Ordered the nem noung rolls, bun Bo hue and grilled pork banh mi. All tasted fresh, crispy and delicious. Great service and food.

The drinks ... top notch. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was their pho. The broth was a little bland and took a lot of me seasoning for my partner. I understand because it is Elk Grove and they have to cater to different palettes. The chili oil was also not spicy and looked like a mixture of the Chinese red chili. The menu had a bit too much going on and in my opinion -- restaurants should have a speciality rather than offer so many items because taste and quality loses itself somewhere in the middle of 100 different menu options. I know my partner and I are pho snobs but what we had wasn't even pho. The broth was basically hot water with a tad of salt or chicken bouillon. There were no hints of star anise, cinnamon (often referred to as Saigon cinnamon), cloves, black cardamom, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds -- nada. And the noodles were way too overcooked making my dish so difficult to eat. I ordered pho and it looked like pho -- but it tasted nothing close to it. I need to share that as a reality to the owner and staff so they can make changes to the quality of their food -- otherwise, I don't know if this place will survive the competition. Also, I observed a staff member behind the counter blending a smoothie of some sort, tasting it with a spoon, and then putting back said spoon into the smoothie to stir before pouring it into a cup (and I saw the cup delivered to a party a few tables down from us). That probably isn't very hygienic and it's sad to see that's how things are handled behind the scenes here. I just happened to look over from our table and was pretty disgusted. Moving on, I hope these guys shape up because the quality and taste of food was actually bad. And, I can rarely say that about restaurants I patronize because I love supporting local small businesses. Best of luck to these guys.

Believe me, I've been wanting to try their pho as well, but every single time, their BBH speaks to me. Simply put, it is a comforting hug in a bowl, filled generously with tender slices of meat, homemade meatballs, cha, pork blood cubes, and al dente noodles, all topped off with piping hot broth. It is served with a mountain of fresh herbs, and I always add extra chili oil and sate (that they keep in the fridge) for that extra oomph of flavor. While this location does not serve their BBH with a pork hock, I really don't care at all, because of how cohesive their bowls are every single time. Those homemade meatballs are really an element of the dish that I have not found at any other restaurants, even at BBH restaurants in the bay. Located right off Grant Line in the Sheldon area of Elk Grove, the restaurant is not big, but still has ample seating. The private parking lot has never been full when I've eaten there, but I also have never gone on a weekend. I usually enjoy coming when they very first open, and am always seated immediately. During lunch rush, I have noticed it can get pretty busy, with patrons dining in and to go orders alike. The owner is so nice and I rarely even look at the menu since I always know what I want. I don't usually order drinks as I like to get matcha in Elk Grove, but the one time I got a Thai tea, it was perfectly balanced with a good strength to it. Their menu on the whole is small, but still varied, so there is something for everyone's cravings. If you follow their Facebook page, they will announce weekend specials as well, so stay tuned for those. One day I swear I will try their pho, but for now, Pholicious is one of my top spots for BBH in the Sacramento area. I've grown accustomed to somewhat questionable produce served with my pho. - Banh mi with grilled pork: a good banh mi. The bread is excellent. The pork is tasty. The produce is fresh. Thumbs up. - egg rolls: these are unlike any egg roll I've ever had. The outside is a lattice of crispy rice goodness. And the inside has a yummy grilled flavor to the pork. When I got this as an appetizer though, it was sitting in an unpleasant puddle of oil (like they should've let it drain off before plating it). They also serve these with some of the bun dishes. They also have a kids menu with a smaller bowl of pho. Or just the yummy grilled pork over rice. The servers are also pleasant. And, you get a discount if you pay in cash (5% I think?)

Quick friendly service! We ordered Lychee & Lemonade, Thai Tea, Egg rolls, Pork & Shrimp Spring…read morerolls Pork and Shrimp Pho Tai, Pho Ribeye and a Pork & Shrimp Bun. The drinks came out quickly as well as the Pho bowls. The Pho portions were large and served steaming hot. Next came the appetizers. The Egg rolls were the lacy crunchy type which is not common in Hawaii. A bit greasy. Would have loved the rolls to have been drained better. I was told they were tasty. The Pork and Shrimp rolls were hefty rolls that is served with a peanut sauce. I was told the peanut sauce was just ok. Those who tried it commented that the shrimp was seasoned and not just blanched. My Pork and Shrimp Bun was essentially a deconstructed spring roll sans the rice paper wrapper so I did not partake in the apps. My dish was also a generous portion. Over half came home with me for tomorrow's lunch. I inquired what the pickled jalapeño and garlic condiment was supposed to be used for as I also saw this at another pho restaurant we tried in Elk Grove. The server said any dish! Pho Bistro is located in an older strip mall with lots of parking which is a plus. Although the menu is not extensive, I would like to return to try other dishes in this casual restaurant. I loved that several servers stopped by our table to check on us. Support local small business and give Pho Bistro a try! Don't forget to tip generously! The Lychee lemonade and Thai Tea were both refreshing and enjoyed on this humid day! Sorry, forgot to snap a pic.

Such a big dissapointment!!!…read more 1 pork patty banh mi & 1 grilled pork croissant When I got the order it turned out that both of them were banh mi (no crossiant) So, I politely told them that our order was incorrect, due to the cashier possibly mishearing me, & how I said I wanted 1 as a "croissant". Then the cashier angrily told us, "well it's your fault then." Then, reluctenly remade the sandwich for us. Next, I went up to order more food from them a 2nd time. The attitude of the staff COMPLETELY changed from this point on: There was a different cashier, who gave us such a bad attitude, was so impaitient, rude, telling me that there is a 30+ min wait, how they are sold out on a couple things, etc. I eventually placed an order a 2nd time, overpassing the negative feeling I was still getting from the cashier. 2nd Order turned out even worse! -Mochi Waffle~ Barely any filling, just plain dough, no cheese or oreo at all!!! Such a rip-off! -Matcha Latte/Paris by Night~No flavor, just like plain milk in ice! -Grilled Beef Banh Mi~ Only 2 slices of beef, mostly just bread! So, I believe that they purposely make ur food bad on purpose, if they simply don't like u or u politely complain. So biased against customers. Terrible customer service! Waste of money! Not returning again!
