Another newcomer joining the fold is Pho Ahn Vu, an addition to the growing chain that's spreading across the GTA. Its claim to fame: an ornate dining room with fake pink blossomed trees that's photographed just as much as their actual food. To be fair, their food tastes good too. If you're feeling hungry their bún thịt nướng (or rice noodles with grilled meat) dishes are very filling. It starts with a generous portion of vermicelli and tops it with your choice of protein. The grilled pork, spring roll, and shrimp on sugarcane ($22.95) offered a bit of everything including cardboard thin slices of marinated pork, a hot and delicious crispy spring roll, and a golf ball sized fried shrimp paste that made up for its petiteness with flavour. Along with a mix of fresh herbs, julienned cucumber, bean sprouts, pickled vegetables, and roasted peanuts it's a cool refreshing dish for the warmer months. My tip: try the dish with a mixture of their chili sauces. That hit of heat goes so nicely with the fish sauce vinaigrette. Their pho is tiny in comparison. The special rice noodle soup ($17.95) had a decent amount of protein with slices of rare beef tenderloin, well done flank, a couple cubes of tendon, maybe two beef balls, and a couple thinly sliced tripe, but a scant portion of noodles. So, you'll either want to upgrade to the larger size ($21.50) or add a side dish to round out the meal. At least their broth was on point - full flavoured and perfectly seasoned. I only wish it was hotter as it became lukewarm after the raw bean sprouts were added. Like the vermicelli, their pho contains several herbs creating a bright bowl of noodles.

As I said last time, we definitely came back more often. I really love their big bone special noodle soup. It was big enough for 2 adults and a baby to get full. We called ahead, and it was Saturday lunch time, not too busy and they still had enough inventory. This time I wanted to try the Vietnamese coffee, but normally I couldn't have a drink too cold and too sweet, so I requested to have no ice and less condense milk. The staff helped to ask the cashier, they said if I don't want the ice, and top up the cup would be +$3 towards $6.95. I said how about no ice and no need to top up? Yes, they could do that, but it turned out half cup of it, not really as they said 70% of coffee. The soup was still good quality, but drinks could be thinking about it.

The pho was very flavourful. I ordered the ribs pho it came in two bowls. One with a full bone and tendon. I loved it. If you are not a fan of tender and bones you might not enjoy the second bowl. There were two large pieces of ribs, soft. The broth was flavourful. Noodles were cooked well. The service was good too. There are lots of parking space in the plaza . They accept cash or debit only. No cash discount

Another Pho Anh Vu! Can't go wrong with any of their dishes. Had the lemongrass chicken and pork with steamed egg and portion size was pretty big. Service was friendly. This location is very spacious and clean.

I came to Pho Anh Vu on Father's Day and while the food overall was pretty good, there were a few issues. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet and it had a really nice, rich broth with a good mix of beef cuts. The mango salad with grilled shrimp was fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy. I also tried the Mon Cuon Dac Biet. It looked great but didn't have much meat on the platter which made it a bit disappointing. They brought out the rice paper and hot water right away, but the food took so long to come out that the water got cold by the time I actually needed it. Service was friendly, but definitely slow, probably because it was a busy holiday. I'd come back again, but hopefully on a quieter day when things are more consistent.

We got there around 11:30AM and it wasn't busy yet but had people trickling in as the time passed. Service was a solid 5/5. Staff were so nice and happy - always smiling at us whenever they brought anything to our table. The dishes here were great with some adjustments to their dishes, I think it could be a solid 5/5! Here goes: Viet coffee 4/5 - Love me an iced Viet coffee. Was a tad sweet imo, so think they could adjust their condensed milk portions for this. Overall was a great caffeine hit drink though. Banh Cuon 5/5 - Oh my goodness - must get! Chewy steamed rice rolls with a pork filling dipped into the fish sauce. Came with grilled meats which were to die for. Bun Cha Ha Noi 5/5 - Meats were very well seasoned in the broth like sauce. It's a dipping type noodle and was absolutely divine. Bun Bo Hue 4/5 - This was good but not too spicy. Lacked a bit of umami flavour and felt like it could have used a bit more depth. Pho Bo 4/5 - Standard beef pho that was comforting and delicious. Overall a pretty solid spot for Vietnamese food. Would visit this place again.

I chose to come here along with my niece and her family that live locally because this place Pho In Love was highly recommended by a staff that claims to be a foodie like me at the Sheraton hotel lounge. And when we looked at the reviews, it had some amazing reviews to back it up. Food was amazing, all the ingredients were fresh, portions are generous, and they were all as expected very flavorful. Ambience is cute and very clean. Parking is an easy access. And above all, you feel so very welcome upon entering this place. I'm so glad we tried it because it definitely met our expectations and beyond. I apologize that I don't have enough photos because we thoroughly enjoyed the food that we forgot to take photos. The meat-to-noodle ratio was also way off for $21 for a large bowl, it was mostly noodles with barely any meat. Compared to other pho restaurants in the area, this one really falls short in both quality and value. The overall taste honestly reminded me of instant pho you can buy at Costco rather than freshly made restaurant pho. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back, especially with so many better pho options nearby.

A few highlights from my recent visit: - The manager at the cashier is super friendly! - Food (especially pho) comes out quickly, tasty, & satisfying. The broth is rich though looks unassuming at first. Portions are reasonable and balanced, meaning that you're not getting a few slices of beef to a large amount of noodles. - Price wise, it's reasonable (though I wouldn't say it's the cheapest pho in the area, but the quality is there!). Note that they do have a 1hr seating time limit, which I appreciate because it probably helps shorten the wait time :)

I don't know if it was strategic on their part, but they have effectively undercut some of their biggest viet competitors by $3-4 on a lot of their items which to me makes this resto rank VERY HIGH in terms of value because of their also huge portions. Admittedly, the taste of their pho broth still doesn't beat Ngon Corner in Richmond Hill for me but they have some items that I can't find on a lot of resto menus. For example, the signature grilled meat platter is amazing. It says serves 2-4 ppl on the menu and I think that's pretty accurate. My friend and I shared one and we're big eaters so we shared it between the two of us and actually felt full! They also PACK the platter with ingredients and don't skimp on anything which is awesome. You love to see it. Also, I came with the gf and the curry is quite layered in terms of flavour. But for me, the most underrated item is the tomato beef brisket noodle soup. Damn, that tomato broth SLAPPED. Better broth than a lot of chinese soup noodle places I've been to and the brisket was also very tender. Even though Ngon Corner is still packing the most flavour in their pho broth, I found myself somehow gravitating to this place with more and more visits because of the sheer value and pricing (I've also told a lot of ppl that they're quite affordable compared to some of the other Viet stalwarts in Markham/RHill). Hopefully this continues and they don't get greedy and decide to increase the prices!
