Great service and delicious noodles and broth! I especially loved the chili oil -- so flavorful with the perfect kick. I ordered the traditional beef noodle bowl since the biang biang with beef rib was already sold out. The noodles were totally slurp-worthy (pro tip: wear a dark shirt unless you want noodle splatter art -- I had to hide behind my zipped vest ). Don't skip the $5 add-on with the tea egg and two lamb skewers -- such a great deal and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back!

Really like the noodles here! The texture is amazing. We got the traditional beef noodle soup large size. The beef is so tender and tastes great. The only downside is how oily it is... they add chili oil in the broth & I'm assuming the amount they add is how spicy you get it. If you want it less oily, ask for mild spiciness level. We also got a fried noodle dish & I found that it was just okay. Same thing here... it is oily based on how spicy you get it. For BBQ, we got pork belly, lamb skewers and cabbage. We weren't a fan of the pork belly (even though this is usually my favorite) because it was dry and chewy. The lamb skewers was pretty good but oh my, the cabbage is amazing! I love the seasoning and the char on this. I wasn't really expecting any kind of extra service here but they are amazing. Any time we asked for something, they were happy to help. They also came to ask how everything is. I liked it so much that my original visit was on a Wednesday & my second visit was 3 days later when I took my husband. He really enjoyed the noodles and the flavor of everything but did not like at all how oily it is.

Nice place for a bowl of piping hot noodles and quick + friendly service. The waiter was patient and gave good recommendations for the noodle sizes (8 different thicknesses to choose from!) The noodles were delicious. I shared a large bowl with my mom. The soup was extremely salt forward. I don't usually drink too much water with my meal, but I was chugging my water after a every bite to tame the savoriness. The beef was cut thin, which made it easy to eat, but wish it came with a few more pieces. If I want fresh pulled noodles, I will come here - but will order a dry noodle dish. Soup is not really the specialty here, unless you prefer your soup heavy on the salt.

Wonderful! Visited this location on Saturday evening for a quick last minute dinner. Was able to get a table quickly. Waitresses spoke Cantonese and English and we were able to order the items and modify it slightly so that it wasn't spicy. Good size bowl, I ordered a large and the number 7 noodle width. So delicious and yummy!! Can't wait to visit again!

Lanzhou beef noodle large #4 size hand pulled noodles. With beef and egg. It was tasty and well packaged. The packaging was good for delivery. Service was quick and the food was fresh.

Came for lunch. This is a small little restaurant with about 10 tables in it, and you can see their kitchen thru the glass to see how they pull the noodles. The food itself was great. Soup base is clear with beef bone taste. The size of the noodle is large (but I also ordered a large size). The noodle is al dante and beef slices aren't tough. I think it's better to eat them with a little spicy chilli oil to elevate the flavor. The service was good. They would explain their menu and they have many sizes for their noodles.

We ordered: 1. Lanzhou Beef noodle soup 2. Zha Jiang Mian We did wider noodles in the Zha Jiang Mian and thin noodles in the Lanzhou Beef noodle soup. Fresh noodles always taste better and they were cooked properly. Broth was light, clean, and soothing. Soybean sauce was so flavorful and coats the noodles. Portions are perfect to share with friends if you want to try multiple dishes. No issues with service. Decent amount of seating for small to medium size groups.

Solid Lanzhou noodle spot with hot and tasty broth and customizable noodle size options. They are generous with the noodles and beef. I found my thinner noodles were a touch overcooked and the chicken cartilage side dish was sweeter than I prefer, personally. Tables are quite tight together. Service is quick and friendly.

    Andy S.

Huge bowl of noodles with an affordable price. They have a variety of noodle options to choose from. They also offer bbq skewers as well to go with the noodles. Everything is good except the soup. Maybe there is some pepper in there or something...there is a numbing feeling after drinking the soap. Not my kind of soap personally.

This was a delicious haven! On a cold Saturday night, my boyfriend and I were trying to find dinner at FMP, and decided to try this restaurant. Immediately, the ambiance was comfortable and peaceful, and the shop is tucked away in a corner of the plaza. We really liked the environment. The service was also great, filling up water regularly and giving us recommendations of what to order. I got the Classic Beef noodles with #4 thickness and my boyfriend got the Dan Dan noodles with #6 thickness. Both dishes were excellent, but we ended up liking each other's dish more! The Dan Dan noodle texture was so chewy and the noodle is actually a triangle shape to give it an interesting mouth feel. The sauce clings to the noodle really well. The Classic Beef was delicious as well - the soup was hearty and just what we needed on the cold night. Really recommend this place!

Impressed! First time to try Lanzhou Noodle. We were around FMP area, it was a bit cold day, so we wanted a hot noodle. Then we scanned Yelp and here we were to try new style of noodle soup - Lanzhou noodle! What attracted us was their emphasis on "hand pulled noodle". We ordered: N1: Traditional Lanzhou Hand-pulled Beef Noodle (level 3 noodle, Large, extra spicy) A2: Sweet & Sour Mini fries A4: Beef Shank with Home made spicy sauce N1: LOVED the broth - Clear, but rich and flavorful. Red chili oil was floating on top but it did NOT make it feel heavy. And the beef! Melt in my mouth. Compared to PHO (which I love too!), Lanzhou Beef Noodle does not have much "raw or fresh" vegetable and meat options, but had totally different delicacy. Only disappointment was its noodle. The server recommended level 3, so we choose this. Unfortunately, we did not feel chewiness as others say. May be we had a bad luck this time? A2: Refreshing and seasoned perfectly. A4: Cold beef slices. I am not a fan of it, and we ended up putting them in the noodle. Then came out great to our preference - tender - melt in the mouth texture :) Overall, the food was very comforting. Winter is coming soon, we know where to go on cold days! Looking forward to it!!!

The food here was yummy! So glad we stopped by for dinner. The service is super attentive and quick. You barely have to wait after placing your order. I also like that it's really clean here. I ordered the beef noodle, pickled vegetable and beef noodle and the potatoes. Everything was 5/5. Will be back!

Service was great! Was able to distinctly explain the different types of noodles and texture to expect (which was exactly how he described it!!) and the Food was delicious! Definitely would go back again and their membership promo was also pretty worth it currently now too!

Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. The braised beef was rich and hearty, while the chicken pot was comforting and full of flavor, making it perfect for group dining or cold weather meals. Combined with the rustic, traditional décor, it really feels like authentic Northeast Chinese comfort food. The food and atmosphere were excellent, though the service was a bit lacking. The lid on my shredded potato salad wasn't on properly and the sauce leaked through my Fantuan bag. The food gets five stars. Sadly, the lid on my potato salad wasn't securely on the container. I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

New sauerkraut fish soup spot in Markham…read more A chain from asia that has finally made it's way to Markham. They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.

If you break it down, it's actually such a good deal: the snakehead upgrade is usually +$3 each and their handcrafted drinks run around $6. No extra charge for any of that with this combo, so... why not? I got the scallion pickled cabbage fish soup (mild spice) and my friend went for the Laotan boiled fish (a bit spicier). For the snack, we picked half Taiwanese sausage and half glutinous rice cake to get both savoury and dessert vibes. When the bowls came out, they looked huge, but the portion was kinda deceiving... it's a very wide, shallow bowl, so the amount of actual soup wasn't as generous as it looked. For a fish soup restaurant, I definitely expected a deeper bowl. But the fish itself was fresh with that nice bouncy texture, plus vermicelli and a solid amount of pickled veggies. They also have a self-serve rice station with both white rice and multigrain rice. The rice cookers even have little signs showing when a new batch is cooking, which I thought was cute and convenient. Overall, flavour wise, it was solid and the promo made it worth the visit. But I am not sure if I'd come back again.

Wait list is old school...someone writes your name and number in a notebook and you are called when your table is ready. The interior is reminiscent of the old school taverns you see in those old Chinese movies where the traveller has spent days walking or on a horse and comes upon a tavern where the interior is all wooden tables and benches. Dining style and dishes are all family style. You order a couple of dishes and then add rice. Spice level can be adjusted and even at 'less' the heat level was high. Definitely generous use of Szechwan peppercorns! Food is very flavourful and depending on preference some might find the oil level high. The clientele is mainly Mandarin speaking and if you are Asian they will immediately communicate in Mandarin with you but I did see the staff switch to English where needed. Service was patient and attentive.
