Dan Dan noodles The thin noodles were recommended and they were very creamy and bouncy as well Both dishes, you could tell had the freshest homemade noodles as you can see in the video. Not only were the 2 noodle dishes delicious but the service was amazing. I accidentally dropped my spoon and before I saw it hit the floor the wait staff were giving me a replacement. The tea was also constantly refilled. Came here on a Saturday for lunch. You have to get here kind of early otherwise it will be really tricky to find parking. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it is bright and modern. We arrived at the right time and didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered the lamb skewers and the hand pulled beef noodles. The lamb skewers were well seasoned and tasty. The noodles were delicious with a good texture and firmness. There's also a decent amount of beef in the noodles. I left feeling pretty full. Service was great as well. I ordered the traditional beef noodle bowl since the biang biang with beef rib was already sold out. Really like the noodles here! The texture is amazing. We got the traditional beef noodle soup large size. The beef is so tender and tastes great. The only downside is how oily it is... they add chili oil in the broth & I'm assuming the amount they add is how spicy you get it. If you want it less oily, ask for mild spiciness level. We also got a fried noodle dish & I found that it was just okay. Same thing here... it is oily based on how spicy you get it. For BBQ, we got pork belly, lamb skewers and cabbage. We weren't a fan of the pork belly (even though this is usually my favorite) because it was dry and chewy. The lamb skewers was pretty good but oh my, the cabbage is amazing! I love the seasoning and the char on this. I wasn't really expecting any kind of extra service here but they are amazing. Any time we asked for something, they were happy to help. Nice place for a bowl of piping hot noodles and quick + friendly service. The waiter was patient and gave good recommendations for the noodle sizes (8 different thicknesses to choose from!) The noodles were delicious. I shared a large bowl with my mom. The soup was extremely salt forward. I don't usually drink too much water with my meal, but I was chugging my water after a every bite to tame the savoriness. Came for lunch. This is a small little restaurant with about 10 tables in it, and you can see their kitchen thru the glass to see how they pull the noodles. The food itself was great. Red chili oil was floating on top but it did NOT make it feel heavy. And the beef! Melt in my mouth. Compared to PHO (which I love too!), Lanzhou Beef Noodle does not have much "raw or fresh" vegetable and meat options, but had totally different delicacy. Only disappointment was its noodle. The small portion of their traditional Langzhou hand-pulled noodles ($14.99) was satisfying, but for the hungry, an extra $2 buys you a much larger bowl. Opting for the #3 thickness, which the waiter noted was "regular", I would consider going down a size as there was a slight sticky afterbite that could be mitigated by a thinner noodle - even though the pasta had a pleasant preliminary mouthful and requisite springy texture. Aside from the noodle width, diners can also customize the spiciness level and whether it's garnished with green onion and cilantro (a must in my books to add some freshness to the bowl). Given the northern provinces of China can handle heat, we went with a light spiciness and was presented with something that looked spicy but really had an aromatic quality without the zing. In retrospect, I could likely handle the regular spiciness as there's always the option to ask for more broth to dilute the heat. In fact, they seemed very accommodating with any table that just wanted an extra bowl of the soup. The slices of beef were cut thinly and given it wasn't overly seasoned became lost amongst the starch and soup. Oh well, I guess the protein isn't an important factor when it comes to hand-pulled noodles. With the Langzhou beef chow mein ($15.99), they recommended a thickness between #3 to #5 for the dish. The #5 was too thick and al dante for my tastes, probably #3 would have been just right. Nonetheless, the stir-fried noodles had great wok hay despite there being a scant portion of vegetables and beef. Coincidentally visited this place on grand opening day so it was 10% off! Located right next to Owl of Minerva and to the left of Nakwon inside First Markham Place. My friends and I waited a good 30-40 min for our table of 6 but the staff were all super welcoming and accommodating. The menu is also quite simple but you can customize your noodles how you like. Also, the large bowl size nets you A LOT more noodles than a regular bowl size and it's only $2 more so I think everyone should order a large bowl when they dine here. I got sanxi (level 3) thickness for my noods. Was considering level 2 but one of my friends ordered it and I'm glad I stuck w/ level 3 because level 2 was quite thin, almost at angel hair pasta thickness. I need some bite and firmness when eating noodle soup! The broth had THAT SPICE and great depth of flavour. The beef was nice and soft. Interesting to note though, you get beef shank slices when you order up a bowl of noods. My friends ordered an extra side of meat and the extra meat was actually brisket chunks which was surprisingly welcome (I kinda wish they used these brisket chunks in the orders as opposed to the shank slices lol). The grilled squid was actually really good but it did arrive a lil bit cold haha. The lamb skewers were also good but they could've included 4 sticks or even put a lil more meat on each one for the price. The bbq cabbage was actually a sleeper hit though LOL. This place is really one giant disappointment. After seeing all those positive reviews from tiktoker it's proven to me either they are lying or have no idea what a good restaurant is. We had ordered fried noodle . Soup beef noodle and chicken cartilage. The pricing and portions to start are way off the lamb fried noodle that they charge 18.99 for had less than 1 skewer worth of lamb meat. The beef noodle the soup did not have that signature smell that lanzhou noodles have.. the cartilage portion was ridiculously small for 7.99 and the taste was sweet for some reason. Small but very cozy and modern space! The staff are very friendly and just attentive enough. The food comes really fast, but still tasted really fresh and well made. We ordered one serving of traditional beef noodle and one dan dan noodle. You get to select the style of noodle you want, there were 10 choices, all different in thickness and width. The broth for the traditional beef noodle was very flavourful, and the noodles itself came with a good amount of sliced beef along with an abundance of green onion and cilantro. While the dan dan noodles tasted good, my only complaint was that it lacked the pickled veggies and more importantly, the nutty flavour that is normally associated with it. The restaurant itself is located more on the south west side of the plaza. It offers both dine in and take out services! I found that a bit odd due to the fact that the dishes ARE available, however, we can't order the combo but must order the side dish in its full price separately. Nonetheless, we ordered two regular bowls of traditional noodles and a side of pork belly skewers. The noodles came rather quickly, within 5 mins of ordering in a huge bowl. Portion sizes are huge, shocked me ( first time customer, never been to their Yonge location). It was tasty and I loved that I could choose the thickness of my noodles and they are literally hand pulled infront of you in a glass window for you to see. The only disappointment/hiccup we had was with the pork belly skewers we ordered. We waited approximately 30mins into eating our noodles and followed up with the server whom told us it will be out soon, to another 20 mins with nothing to the point where I was full from the noodles but i still wanted to try their skewers. We proceeded to follow up with the 2nd owner and inquire if we can cancel the order if it's not made yet since we're full and ready to leave. It's a very simple menu with only 10-12 items - some cold appetizers, a spicy beef and an assortment of noodles. You get to choose the type of noodle you want - everything from super thin and circular to super thick and wide. I went with the pictured classic Dan Dan noodles. Lots of veggies on top, and then the minced meat in the center. My only wish was that the noodles would be a bit more chewy (personal preference that they're a wee bit undercooked). Otherwise amazing flavour. Service was amazing. They were quite attentive. Some of the staff are new but they made sure you got the answers for your questions. When choosing your dish, you have the choice of spice level, type of noodle cut (1 to 8; 1 being thin and long, 8 being a thick noodle) Our table ordered two of the N1's - traditional lanzhou hand pulled beef noodles, and two dry style dishes. one was mild spice with number 4 noodles (medium thickness) the other was extra spicy with a number 7 noodle - thicker-ish and two dan dan mians (dry style noodles with a thick sauce made with pork to mix) - both were mild spicy and we also got one side of the beef shank to share (A4) Don't let the color deceive you - it looks red and fiery but the spice is definitely conquerable. Our noodles arrived fairly quickly after placing our order, the broth was hot and the aroma was impeccable. I was intimidated at first from the appearance of the broth being red but I was pleased at the level of spice in the mild. The extra spicy was spicy, but I wasn't dying which was nice. otherwise would argue it wasn't spicy enough. The dandan mians were really flavorful as well - definitely a good twist on authentic hand-pulled noodles. The beef shank (a4) was surprisingly very light. great hand pulled noodles, I had the large lanzhou noodles with belt wide style noodles during lunch. I also got the chicken wings, cartilage, cabbage, and mushroom as part of the lunch special. The seasoning on the sides were weird, they had cumin (which is expected) but it was overly sweet, which is not typical of these dishes. Service was great, they have a large glass window where you can see the workers pulling the noodles by hand. read more
