Came here on a whim and boy was I surprised! When I walked in, I knew I was a good spot. Lots of Vietnamese people were inside eating. We were quickly seated. I ordered a medium beef stew vermicelli and my co-worker ordered the spicy noodle bowl. Both dishes were very good and costing only $12 for both bowls. The only bad thing about the place is it didn't have A/C. It wasn't too hot tho, they had fans blowing and it was pleasant. On a side note this place has a carwash attached to it, you can eat and have your car detailed while you're grubbing on some good pho oh and they accept credit card, most pho places are cash only!! read more

Very authentic. Tofu here! A little more greasy than other Pho places, but still very good. Next time I'd probly get the food to go tho, the atmosphere was a little...sticky. No veg broth that I'm aware of, but tofu spring rolls and veggie chow mein exist. Very cheap and huge portions. Great for couples and families. read more

The Vietnamese bbq pork rice dish was perfect. The pork was cooked with great flavor and was not dry but still juicy with that bbq charred flavor. Way tasty. Connor go wrong with pork. The Vietnamese dessert drink was a great start to the meal. Icy cold sweet coconut milk with jello and mung bean chunks. Mmm Mmmm. The portion was perfect for the price that I paid. The waiter was an older gentle man. He's got some jokes. Funny guy. Great service. Packed and bagged our food to go. Will definitely come back again and order a different dish. I had the pho noodles #1. compared to previous meals at other places this one was Ok. Not my favorite. I also ordered beef chow fun which smelled great. The noodles were large, the beef had a smoky flavor. I would order again. The restaurant itself is a little hole in the wall, nothing fancy. They seemed fairly busy and they were younger workers keeping the tables clean and placing orders as fast as they could. I will return to try some other type of noodle or rice. read more

So, I didn't eat while I was there -- I only needed a hand car wash. They did a great job. Had the exterior washed, interior wiped down and vacuumed, and had the tires cleaned all for only $22. Nice! I'll definitely go back. read more

If only I could give this place zero stars. I have been here a few times and have never had any major issues, until today. My bf and I came at approximately 11 am to beat the lunch rush. When we arrived, there were only about two couples seated. I figured it was perfect timing since we were both on our lunch breaks. We ordered two appetizers, shrimp spring rolls and grilled pork spring rolls, as well as two medium bowls of Pho. As we were patiently waiting, a few more groups began strolling in. Before we received our appetizers, this was already 45 minutes in, I noticed our waitress accidentally gave one of our appetizers to the table next to us. Common mistake, I will let it slide. Then, I noticed the table next to us, as well as several groups who arrived after us, all were receiving their main dish. By this time, we were about 55 minutes into our lunch. I couldn't risk being late to work so we decided to go up to the counter to pay for our appetizers. The lady at the counter was noticeably upset and said we had to pay for it all. She offered for us to take our food to go, even though our food was still not ready. I told her no, I can't be late to work, and we were just gonna pay for our appetizers. By this point, the entire staff was behind the desk trying to explain what the delay was and how we had to pay for it all. Long story short, we gave her a $20 for our $10 appetizers. She literally threw $4 at us and said "Here!" We knew she had shorted us, but we decided not to be confrontational and just get our $6 back via a yelp review. To be honest, the food has always been great. But I will never step foot in this place again because of their choice on how to handle this simple situation. A sincere apology could have totally prevented all of this. read more

This place has changed for the WORSE. I have been coming here for 15 years and hate to admit that this place is going downhill. The pho is not as flavorful as it used to be. I ordered "to go" and was told I could not order small, only medium or large. Also, prices have gone up. And the restrooms which are outside are filthy - I'm not sure if they are even cleaned weekly?! To top it all off, the cashier and the owner lady are very rude. I once saw on my credit statement that they had added $1 to my tip which is fraudulent and illegal. People, don't go here! But if you do decide to go in and buy something on a credit card, be sure to check your credit card statement to make sure you were not overcharged! read more

Food took an abnormally long tim.e to come out, which normally isnt a problem if I wasnt on lunch. After 45 mins of waiting, my spring rolls finally came out and the rest of my order was still not even close to being done. Had to go back to work and offered to pay for what came out. They refused and said I had to pay for it all. I paid for the appetizer and register lady over charged me for them on purpose to compensate for the rest of the order. Horrible way to do business. Been going here for several years. Love the Pho and spring rolls. This place is always busy and had a great reputation. Mind you, the ambiance is lacking but the food is great The staff is very kind, they recognize us as regulars and greet us warmly. I've also tried the spicy tofu and fried prawns. When I order Pho, I order rare steak which is my favorite. Recently I began ordering "extra vegetables" which includes bok choy added to the broth. The veggies that are served on the side of the Pho includes bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, lime and jalapeño slices. Add table condiments like siracha, soy sauce or chili oil to taste. Dip the steak in plum sauce if you wish. Every dish that I see coming out of the kitchen looks delicious. Lastly, you can have your car 'hand washed' while you dine. read more

I really like this place. I saw some really bad reviews here on Yelp. But my son talked me into going. From what I can tell they have improved the things people complained about in older reviews. The Pho here is WONDERFUL! I had the large duck Pho. It was delicious.I returned within a week and tried the combination chow mein and salt and pepper chicken wings. Nothing awesome flavor with generous portions. The staff was friendly and we were served quickly even though they were jam packed. Don't go by the older reviews here. This place rules! read more

This is a place I would go to from time to time and the pho was actually pretty good but after seeing the reviews about the roaches, and after today's experience, I won't be going back! I went today with a few of my coworkers to go have lunch, and the lady that attended us was super rude. She tried to rush us to leave, although we weren't done eating! Don't use your debit card!! Or save your receipt. They charge extra to it by giving themselves a tip. Did it to my husband a year ago, we went back and got his money back (only $2 but still). Did it again to me more recently. This time I saved my receipt and demanded that they give me a full refund of the bill. Nothing but a bunch of thieves. I heard mixed reviews from my friends about this place, so I felt I needed to try it for myself. The dining room was very spacious, which was nice. We were seated right away, but she put us at a table right under the a/c vent, so we moved to a different table since it was cold and rainy that day. The water we were served tasted like it came from the car wash they have in the parking lot. Can't say I was too surprised though, considering how dirty the place was. Unauthorized transaction on my credit card twice. First was a double charge and I had to go through my bank. When confronted they said it happens often and that it's just a mistake and that it's my job to check my statement. So be careful and pay attention to your statements!! If not caught I wonder how many times this happens. Second she tips herself from my credit card. I left cash tip on table and used CC to pay. When confronted she asked me how much tip I left on the table. Does not matter, still unauthorized transaction to my credit card. When I went back to pick up the money she fraudulently tipped herself with she told me they do not give refund that it's their policy. And that I had to make a purchase in the Restruant. Horrible service stay away at all costs. We walked in at 8:30pm and there were 2 tables of people eating. The young man walked us to a table and gave us menus. Few minutes later a young woman who looked like she was tweeking came running out of the back and gave us a dirty look. She immediately went to the open sign and turned it off then came and asked us to move to a small dirty table in the corner because she wanted to mop. When I told her we were asked to sit here she told us either move to the small table or leave! I have never been so frustrated with a server as I was with this woman. Went here yesterday had a number 11 with egg rolls my favorite. Been going here for years to bad after we payed my boyfriend said look at the wall a cockroach right behind cashier on wood colored wall... It was great before "kids" took over waiting. I used to come here alot because Pho Bac is the only place in modesto that has Garlic Chili as a condiment. But, I don't think I'm going to come back anymore. It used to be a traditional Pho shop. Me and my gf visited today, and basically the wait-staff seemed unprofessional. They're a bunch a kids. They had music playing in the background, that flipped from some Vietnamese Songs, to Nicki Manaj. I'm sorry, but a noodle shop with Nicki Manaj in the background? Not that I have a problem with her music or anything, but I'm sure if I brought my parents here for dinner they would think this noodle shop is wack.
