But being the unlucky me, I had the opposite and I was so upset :( It took forever and a day for the only waitress to take our order and then it took a century to get our food! The thing was, it wasn't even that busy! And of course, they messed up our order because these people does not understand or comprehend English! I got a small everything pho here with a side of extra beef. The pho itself was decent, with a good amount of noodles, not too much. The tendon was well cooked; the broth was delicious so I drank it but then I felt flushed and itchy afterwards. My friend told me that's probably a niacin rush caused by too much MSG. the best place for vietnamese food in modesto. So far we've had the egg rolls, salted shrimp fried rice, pho, spicy beef noodle soup. My husband once had the grilled pork with rice which was tasty but definitely fatty (oh well, fat is flavor, right?). So far my only disappointment is that the spring rolls are wrapped too loosely . . when i took a bite, it started to fall apart in my hands. otherwise, service is quick, the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. plus, you can get your car washed while you eat :) read more

Good place. I like their pho better than the others in the area. The broth is good, always hot. I usually get the #1 Special Pho, Egg rolls, and Iced Thai Tea. The other appetizers are good as well. They're also a car wash, but I've never used their service before. Customer service is iffy and you have to go up to the counter to pay for your meal, but they're really nice people. Really a good place for a huge, hot, bowl of Pho. It's not fancy, sometimes they let the dishes sit on the tables too long and sometimes it gets too warm during the summer, but the Pho is very good. I love the rare steak, tendon, and meatball soups. I really need to try other items on their menu, but when I think of Pho Bac, I think of a huge bowl of hot Pho and I never get past the front page of the menu. read more

One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in town. Food are delicious and fresh. Pho broth are just perfect. My favorite are the grill pork over rice. The marinating are just perfect. Both my Fiance and I love this place. We lived next to little Saigon in Sacramento for 12 years and have gone to over 30 Pho restaurants up there and recently moved to Modesto. We've been to almost all the pho restaurants in the area and we've agreed that is this our favorite. We always get the Pho combo with a side of their spring rolls which are also delish. So 3 stars for the food. Its good, but not anything you cant find at other Vietnamese restaurants, its just more convenient on McHenry. The service: It really depends on who you get. The lady who is always smiling is nice. She remembers my order every time I come in and knows exactly what I want. The other lady, on the other hand, is completely rude and so DISRESPECTFUL. Every singly time I go there she NEVER smiles or interacts with me as a customer and offers THE WORST SERVICE EVER. I know she has a twin sister but I think only one of them works there now. The last time I went there, I had a to-go order and an elderly women went to pay at the register and she didn't ask her how her meal was or even said "hello." When the lady asked for a receipt, she THREW it at her. How are you going to throw something at a customer??? Much less an elderly woman?! I honestly dont know how she still has a job, she must be related to the owners somehow. I aboslutly love the pho at this place. Their egg rolls are amazing too my children have ordered their orange chicken before and it is surprisingly crispy and yummy. First of all, let me start by stating I'm a very emphatic person when it comes to people in the service Industry. I work with clients/customers all day long and I know how it feels to be on the receiving end of a rude customer. Now on to the reason I felt the urge to write a review... Placed a to go order via phone for a combination chow fun. Due to the language barrier I specifically repeated my order back to the lady on the phone to ensure she got my order correct. Go in to pick up my order, it's ready, cool didn't have to wait at all! Get to my office and am ready to dig into the chow fun, open the box and it's freaking chow mein!! So, I call the establishment back and kindly let them know that they got my order wrong. The man who picks up the phone is very accommodating, states bring in the wrong order and we'll get you the correct item. Once I get back to the restaurant I'm greeted by the man on the phone. He's very cordial and states my order will be right out. The lady who took my initial order however, is the rudest person I've ever encountered. First, she greets me by giving me the dirtiest look ever, then proceeds to tell me I was the one who placed the wrong order. I reminded her that I repeated my order to her over the phone to make sure it was correct. She then keeps arguing with me saying I don't know how to order and that it was MY fault. Who in their right mind would choose to stand there and argue with a customer and make a scene!!! They need to teach that lady some customer service skills or they will be losing a lot of customers. Ive never had pho and I love Vietnamese food. Its true. I stick to the vermicelli rice noodle dishes with spring rolls anytime I visit a Vietnamese restaurant. This place has food that is comparable to some of the best in Sacramento Ive eaten at. The wife usually gets the seafood soups and she never has any complaints. We always order the bbq pork spring roll to start out the meal. The peanut sauce is a little runny but had a good flavor. Everytime we been here, about 5 times in the last 3 years, its been fresh and good. read more

The service was lacking. The man who was our server was rude. I had ordered a lemonade with my lunch. About half way into the meal, I realized that I had not gotten my beverage. I hailed my server to ask him about it, and before I could ask, he curtly responded "Now, what do you want?" Very rude. Will never go back and would never recommend this place to anyone.
