Someone posted that this restaurant is closed. It is not. I just placed what must be my 100th takeout order with them. Takeout is ready FAST every time, and very accurate. Love the pho here!. My picky 12 year old loves the P10 meatball pho. I love the P7. We've also loved the rice vermicelli bowls. Once our child had the pork chop and loved that too. I usually get grilled pork or beef. The only thing I don't enthusiastically recommend is the sandwiches. They are ok, but I've had better bahn mi in Louisville. read more

Unless I'm going to my mommas house, I will always choose Pho BC for some authentic Vietnamese food. The prices aren't too high, food always comes quickly, and the staff is attentive and friendly. I ordered the vegetarian pho small and mom got the large spicy combination. Both bowls come with fresh toppings like jalapeno, bean sprouts, and basil. The soup is piping hot. I think the vegetarian soup is delicious and vegetable packed and comes with tofu. My mom said the meat (as always) was tender and flavorful. Also, the small is a great serving size. I don't think I could eat any more! They have options other than pho that are really tasty, but the actual pho is a huge hit for me. Will always recommend! read more

This is a nice clean establishment but I didn't get that authentic feel from the place. The service is very "what do you want" but that's more authentic then the food here. I came for the Pho and it was "ok"... that's it. Like someone else said, it lacks a real depth of flavor. Not what I'm used to for a good bowl of Pho. it was as if the bones didn't get roasted long enough, or perhaps they use a powder mix and didn't add enough. It takes a long time to make a proper broth and this bowl just didn't have it. I'll keep searching for that good bowl of Pho! read more

We enjoy Pho BC so much, that it has become a weekly tradition to visit. The broth is so complex, rich, and flavorful we swear it has some magical soul healing powers. We traditional go with a giant bowl of P4 (steak + flank), but we do mix it up w a nice Spicy beef for a change of pace. Outside of the pho, it's hard to go wrong with a dish. I have multiple items from the fried rice, egg roles, noodle dishes, etc. and they're all as flavorful as the last. The staff is friendly and attentive. Pho BC is about as good as it gets for authentic pho in Lexington. I am a big eater and the large bowl is more than enough. I especially enjoy the steak and brisket pho. The broth is rich and flavorful, but when you add the basil, jalapeños, lime juice, and sriracha...WOW!!! The savory, spicy, with a mild sweetness and umami abound!! Slurp to your heart's content!! I sure do love me some Pho. This place offers is Phonominal. There is nothing like PHO on a cold day if you ask me. The day that I stopped in here with a friend it was cold and raining. Perfect PHO weather. For those of you unfamiliar with Pho, Wikipedia defines it as: Ph or pho[1] (pronounced variously as /f/, /f/, /fr/, or /fo/;[2] Vietnamese: [f] ( listen)) is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, linguine-shaped rice noodles called bánh ph, a few herbs, and meat, primarily served with either beef or chicken. They are located off kind of across the Nicholasville Road at an angle from Trader Joes. There are in a little plaza behind the 5th 3rd Bank that sits there. The inside is kind of cozy and inviting. It is just plain and simple, nothing too fancy. The staff are helpful and eager to explain what the dishes are for the new comers. If you ask me, anything with PHO in the name is perfect. Just try it. I am sure you will love it. Also something I have learned, the small bowls on the side are for your sauces for dipping your meats/veggies. That way you don't ruin the taste of the PHO with your sauce. One also note, there are a few other PHO places here in Lexington. This ones broth is a bit on the sweet side. This was my first Pho experience. After a fellow Elite recommended it months ago, I attempted to stop in on a Tuesday and they were closed. Months later, we went here on a Saturday night. I ordered E1, it's a stir fried noodle dish and I ordered the vegetable option. The waitress recommended it because I hadn't yet experienced Pho. It was piping hot and just right for my taste buds and it was reasonably priced at $8.95. The place is a little small and our table was right next to the register, where a big group with no common courtesy gathered around to pay for their meals. Pho BC is the only Vietnamese restaurant in Lexington that I have been to (I know that there is at least one more), but it stood up pretty well against the places I've been in bigger cities like New York or London. I had the seafood pho (noodle soup) which included shrimp, squid, crab meat, and fish balls. The soup itself is rather innocuous with subtle fish flavor and chopped scallions, but what makes it delicious is adding fresh basil, bean sprouts and jalapenos (not exactly Vietnamese, but I let it slide) and letting it steep for a couple minutes to extract some of those flavors. For desert, I would recommend trying one of the exotic fruit milkshakes such as the Jackfruit. read more

We love Vietnamese food. A lot. And having lived for almost a decade in the Pacific Northwest and California, and almost four years in the D.C. area, we've eaten our fair share of top notch pho. Thus, we were really excited to learn about Pho BC in Lexington. We went for lunch on a Sunday and it was packed (people were standing around waiting for tables to open up), but things move pretty quickly so the wait was not terribly long, especially considering there were only two servers. (And once we placed our orders the food came promptly, it was hot, and the servers would reappear periodically to refill water glasses.) We got steak pho (P1) and vegetarian pho (P18), and we split an order of tofu salad rolls. The rolls were decent. The vegetarian pho was solid--it had an ok amount of tofu and a good variety of veggies (bok choy, cabbage, broccoli, carrot). Note: they do use a veggie-based broth for P18, so vegetarians, don't fear. The steak pho was good, although a little disappointing because we expected extremely rare steak ("tai") that then cooks in the broth. This meat was fully cooked (but it may have been because they were so slammed the soup sat around for a bit before it got served...we'll give them the benefit of the doubt here). The broth was alright. Pho comes in small, large, and extra large; we both ordered large. Compared to the many pho restaurants we've eaten at, there was not a lot of broth and the large would have been a small at virtually every other place we've tried, on both coasts. So, we would agree with some other yelpers that this pho place is a bit overpriced (a large is 8.50). One other aspect that disappointed us was the fact that the table is expected to share one plate of condiments (the usual basil, jalapeno, and bean sprouts; the menu also specifies that diners should get cilantro but none was to be found). And, again, we agree with other yelpers that the sprouts and basil were visibly past their prime. Last, they may be watering down the sriracha... Other notes: Pho BC takes Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. Ultimately, in spite of the less-than-prime condiments and the inflated prices, we'd go back for seconds--beggars can't be choosers, right? read more

I'm giving them 4 stars because they are the only game in town. They have several dishes that I think are pretty awesome, and a lot of dishes that are pretty meh. I come here over and over for the same few things and have been pretty neutral on everything else. That being said, the Chef's Special Pancake must be tried. It's a crispy omelet-y deal that's eaten by wrapping it up in lettuce leaves and dunking in a dipping sauce. You get two huge omelets with each order- the first time my husband and I ordered it to split and we thought they made one omelet for each of us. But on subsequent visits, we've continued to receive the dueling omelets, so it's just a huge dish I guess! It's got a lot of great textural things going on, hot crispy eggy thing, cool crispy lettuce, sweet/tart sauce. This is what we come here for. There is also a dish (crispy noodle chicken? or something?) that is a tasty moo-goo-gai-pan-esque chicken stir fry served over a bed of deep fried noodles. It's a dangerous dish to order given the noodle-shattering situation, but for lovers of crunch, it's perfect. In spite of Pho being in their name, I'm not too crazy about it. Unlike Dave E. mine was very fresh and perfectly lovely to behold, just very mild and not nearly as exciting as the aforementioned dishes. Not to damn with faint praise, but if I were feeling sick, a bowl of this stuff would be awesome...Or on a rainy day maybe. I've gotten their Vietnamese coffee, both hot and cold, and it's great! Very intense, but good. I'm curious to try some of their stranger beverages (avacado shake, anyone?) but haven't done so yet. read more

We stopped at Pho BC for lunch, a few miles outside of Lexington Blue Grass airport. We were craving a nice feel good in our tummy soup after having one too many old fashioned the previous night. The broth was on point. Very authentic and well balanced spices. We order chicken satay and some shrimp spring rolls which were also yummy. Staff was friendly and prices were right. If we are ever in the a Lexington area again, we will definitely stop by to get some of their yummy pho. read more

Service: - Ordering our food was really fast - Getting our food was extremely slow. We got our entrees before the appetizer Food: - The pho broth lacked depth and flavor - There was hardly any meat in the pho. It was was basically a bowl of noodles and soup. - My husband got one of their rice dishes and it was basically a huge portion of jasmine rice plus a small piece of meat. Recently heard about this place and was able to check out this weekend. I loved the place! I got the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (P20) and my friend got the Pork Noodle Soup (P19). Both were very good, specially the spicy beef was truly delicious. This place also has bubble tea which is a bonus. We got the Vietnamese Cold Coffee which is my favorite style of coffee. The staff is nice and service is very fast. Also, it is very close to the mall and makes a good spot to grab a bite to rest your feet. Definitely coming back again. read more

I'm so glad I discovered this place. It's a really solid Pho/Vietnamese joint that also happens to be the only game in town. I went with a few other people and three of us ordered pho: spicy, regular beef and seafood. All were excellent. Nothing earth-shattering but very good. I'm already thinking about when I can go back and try another kind. By the way, the "small" bowls are pretty big. First time here and food was good, but service was horrible. Others that came in way after us received there food and appetizers before we did. Appetizers came out after our entrees did. Why has it taken me so long to try Pho BC? I'm honestly pretty mad at myself for showing so much love to Pho Saigon when Pho BC was right under my nose.. literally down the street from me and honestly, so much better. I ordered the steak pho, and, of all the restaurant pho's I've had in my life, it was the most closely similar to my mother's pho (which is incredible, to say the least). So, by order of deduction, Pho BC pho = incredible. I ordered the small bowl, which is not so small. I highly recommend. I also ordered the banh xeo, which is a vietnamese crepe. To my surprise, the order comes with 2 banh xeos, which is such a good bang for your buck ($12.50). It was perfectly crisp, crunchy, and full of flavor.
