Randomly ran across this place while I was out running errands. The miso chicken teriyaki ramen was absolutely delicious and huge portion. I definitely had some for a second round for leftovers. When you walk in, you'll order at a little kiosk. You can sit and look at their huge menu to decide before ordering. They also have pictures of everything on the tablet (which I love). Then they'll bring it out to you in a to go container. Some may get upset about not having dishes/someone waiting on them, but it totally works for them here. Not sure why this owner's response is to focus on the nationality of the customers and masking....can't seem to address his food quality issue but gives out advice about learning what the CDC is recommending. THIS may be the reason the quality of their food was not up to par. As per my response to the owner, I have no problems with people choosing to mask. My issue was with the rude way in which they handle the customers by slamming the plexiglass in their face after yelling out peoples names. And if your business is so concerned about covid, maybe clean that touchscreen or have some cleaning cloths there so that we are not all having to order food touching that screen behind everyone else. There is no bathrooms available in this place to wash our hands and they request that you use the shopping plaza trash bins outside to throw away your disposable food containers, which by the way, were quite full...wish I had gotten a photo of that... read more

I wish I could have been here before COVID, but it appears they have made some pretty extensive changes to the place because of COVID. For the most part there is no dine in. They have put up a wall and there are two tables in the area to sit in which are not attached to the regular HVAC system.... cold in winter. That being said, the food was good. I got a tuna bowl and the tuna was fresh. My husband got ramen and really liked it, but there is no dine in experience. Everything is served on disposable plates/containers. I ordered a hot sake and in came in a coffee cup. All drinks are bottles (even water). Typically when I go out to eat, I want the experience and service too.... this is not the place, but would be great for take out. read more

When it came to the table rice was the main part. So I returned it and she was hateful. She then said your salad will be right out. I ordered the Yummy Salad. With no Teriyaki chicken. Grilled chicken only. I put it in the notes. When I received the salad it was covered with sauce. I took it back to her and she said that's how it is. We just paid $68 for a light lunch for two people and the food looked and tasted like something from a sorry bento box. The gyoza was all pork, no seasoning, and did not come with dipping sauce, just a packet of soy sauce. The edamame salad was entirely lacking in dressing. It was also weirdly modest for the price. Holy cow is this place fantastic. I was in the market for decent ramen, as I've had a hard time finding it in Lexington, and YUP - this place made it happen!! We got the Spicy Ginger Miso & the Spicy Tonkotsu broths... both were astounding. The ingredients were super fresh and everything was packaged so neatly and perfectly. I mean it's good. I feel like it tastes authentic. You don't get a server per se, maybe you can? You walk up to a tablet and order. It's good to see pictures of the food but if you don't know what you're ordering its kind of pressing because there's a lot to go through. I've gotten takeout from here twice now, the first as a poke bowl and the second was spicy vegetable ramen with an egg. The poke bowl I really enjoyed. It had a ton of toppings that meshed well together with a good serving of fish. I will be back to try another bowl and some sushi. The ramen was mediocre. I would like to preface this with the fact that I'm coming off of 8 months in jersey where I was able to enjoy the best of NYC ramen, so I have high expectations. I'd give the spicy miso broth an 8/10 and the noodles and toppings a 5/10. I like my bamboo shoots crunchier and my lotus roots less crunchy. Noodles were just average. Overall experience here with staff has been great - my ramen was nice and hot still by the time I got it home, and they have a table to wait at if your take out order is not ready when you arrive. I don't like to write reviews under 3 stars, but in this case I feel it's warranted to share my experience. After an afternoon of shopping in Hamburg, my girlfriend and I were ready to have dinner. We felt like something outside of the chains and opted for a local option. When I found a local ramen spot with 4 stars, I was hoping for the best. We walked into the shop and it looked brand new. It was very clean inside. When we sat down, we both noticed a smell in the shop. It smelled like a light scent of bleach. This was our first point of hesitation if we should stay and give it a try. We reviewed the menu and decided to go with a standard bowl of spicy ramen. The ramen was taking a long time to come out. While I was waiting, I walked to the bathroom and saw into the kitchen. No one was working in there. The wait staff was pulling double duty in the kitchen. After about 20 mins, we received our ramen. The ramen was cold! The broth was cold and the meat slices on top felt like they came straight out of the fridge. We immediately tried flagging down the waitress. After about 5 mins, she acknowledged us and came over. We told her of the issue and she was unsympathetic. She said ramen can also be cold and if we wanted it. There was no apology and no attempt to remedy. We sent it back and walked out. read more

Noticed a new sushi place nearby the house and figured I would give it a try. A good friend recommended I get the spicy teriyaki beef ramen so I figured I'd give it a shot. I went on a Friday night and wasn't looking to dine in so I place an order to go. I placed my order somewhere around 7:50PM (give or take a few minutes) and I received my food at around 9:05PM. Now, I typically don't mind waiting on a take out order but to wait for over an HOUR? By far the longest I've ever waited on food in my life. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. Maybe 5-7 guest were dining in and probably another 4-5 waiting on to go orders. So, if you're looking to get in and out I recommend calling ahead.... WAY AHEAD. As for the food? It was fantastic. A great bowl of ramen so big that I couldn't even consider eating it in one sitting. The teriyaki was a little over cooked for my liking but it went well with the miso soup and the accompanying vegetables. I give the food a 4 star but the quality of service is definitely lacking at a soft 2. read more

Came here for lunch and tried the Pork Chashu BAO - it is addictively delicious! Started with the Seaweed Salad and Sashimi which were both fresh and perfect. Run by an adorable husband and wife team, he creates the beautiful sushi items and she does the cooked items and runs the front of the house. Today's special was (from what I could understand) Curried Pork over Rice with a salad. There are also Sushi specials too. Since I wanted to try the BAO, I didn't have room for the specials. Had a lunch date here with my love last week. It was our first time eating here and we were very pleased! We both had the vegetable ramen and spicy sushi lunch combo. Ordered Edamame(was cold & small serving) along with Pork & Chicken Gyoza (no dipping sauce was provided as it is at most places) for starters. All in all decent tasting, but won't order them again. As for main course the wife and I just wanted some basic sushi so we ordered the Sun Shine Platter (pictured). This was all in all good basic sushi that we'll get again. As far as staff everyone was super nice, but one could tell they were all very nervous since they just opened. SAM Sushi is more than my neighborhood sushi bar. SAM Sushi is my weeknight hideaway and favorite Post-YMCA meal. Whenever I feel a little rundown, I pull up a chair at the bar. I can always count on the friendly proprietors and their delicious food to pick me up again. With sports on the TV and a 22 ounce Sapporo at my side, I feel at home at SAM's and I never leave hungry. I drop in probably twice a month. If you go, here are some hidden gems: As an appetizer, consider the spicy nigiri from the Weekly Specials menu. I order the salmon. The jalapeno and schichimi togarashi are a knockout! I also highly recommend trying one of Sam's salads, especially the Special Crispy Anchovy Salad (spicy) and the Spicy Marinated Daikon Salad. My favorite ramens on offering are the Spicy Kimchi Ramen and Spicy Tonkotsu. The chashu (pork) is tender and moist, but teriyaki chicken is also tasty for pickier eaters. Be forewarned: you get A LOT of toppings and ramen! This is definitely Japanese-style ramen, not Cup O' Noodle. Great for carb loading before a big run or maybe a long day shopping in Hamburg. As another reviewer said, perfect rainy day food and we've had need of that lately. As for the sushi, here I'll copy and paste some of my favorites (the colossal rolls are truly colossal. Lighter eaters may consider sharing): Something more traditional for fish lovers: Tri Ocean Roll (Colossal Roll) - Yellowtail,Tuna, Salmon, Avocado Topped with Sriracha Sauce and Eel Sauce Something crispy and wonderful: Golden Tempura Shrimp Roll (Colossal Roll) - Tempura shrimp, Avocado & Cucumber Topped with Spicy Crab Stick, Scallions, Tempura Flakes, Masago, Spicy Mayo & Eel Sauce For dessert, you can't go wrong with some matcha/green tea flavored ice cream! I was so excited to come home form school and see that a sushi place had opened up just around the corner! I can't say no to sushi! The service was a bit lacking. After we asked for just a few more minutes to look over the menu, it was AGES before anyone came by again (despite our best efforts to get a servers attention). I got a caterpillar roll, a veggie roll, and a miso soup. Miso soup is always good, and the rolls were good as well. It just wasn't anything special. There was nothing on the menu exciting or interesting. I had trouble deciding what to order because nothing stood out to me. It was all made to a fine quality, it just wasn't exceptional. I went here for lunch and enjoyed my meal. I was here when it first opened and tried the ramen which I enjoyed. This time I had the Sushi lunch special. It was good but a little expensive. I will be back when I am not in a rush so I can look over the whole menu but from what I saw everything looked pretty good. I just had some sushi and miso. The service was good. I did not have to wait long for anything. I like they took care of my bill quickly since I was pressed for time. I feel that needs repeating... FABULOUS!!! Miso is rich, the bao had a wonderfully fresh bun and I keep adding rolls to lunch. Sushi salad is so great..and huge. Oh and one day we splurged on desert. Took the family to Sam's for the first time today, they have only been open a month so there was no crowd and got service very quick, and the folks there were very friendly. You must try Sams. the Sushi was fantastic we had 7 different rolls all fabulous and fresh. My little guy had a chicken teriyaki noodles ( real chicken thighs and real noodles), that prices are very reasonable, if anyone is looking for a sushi place this is now one of only three places I will eat sushi at in Lexington, and it's close to home so please try them out and help them build a great business so I don't have to drive across town. read more

I picked up some takeout from this place and I will definitely be back. Very friendly staff and really good prices. I got the Sam Special A. The rainbow rolls were very good, the small sushi had a really nice flavor (brown rice in those, tasty, but I preferred the white), and the nigiri was flavorful and fresh. I also tried the octopus gunkan. This was my favorite- it had great flavor, and it was the chance to try something I don't get to try very often. They even threw in a free miso soup- nice flavor and a good appetizer. Overall, this is a stellar new restaurant with fresh food and great prices.
