Worst service in Malden! I sat here to eat with 2 of my friends and the waiter took our order and we ordered drinks. When the waiter came out with the food I noticed the pork chop I ordered was tiny and I asked the waiter if he can bring out another piece and he said no and they all come out like this. So I didn't argue and continue with my dinner. I was almost finished with my meal and the waiter didn't bring out our drinks. So I told him to cancelled the order instead apologizing the waiter just said ok and turned and walk away. This is by far the worst Vietnamese restaurant I ever ate at. I come here fairly often because of how often I crave pho and how close I live to the place. --Just a forewarning-- if you're looking for good service, this is not the place for you. The male servers here always seem to be lurking nearby which makes your dining experience uncomfortable. And they're not there to ask how things are tasting or if they can get you anything else, but there to make sure they get you out asap. All of the female servers that I've experienced are sweet but are equally as ready to get you out with as little interaction as possible. Call me biased because I'm a server too, but that's just not how I roll. As for the food, I come here only for pho and am overall pleased with the taste considering the convenience of the location. The decor is nice and the restaurant is located in Malden Center close to the T. I give them 3 stars for good food but poor service. read more

I was so excited to try this new place with my friend and I have to say that I'm pretty disappointed with this place. We both LOVE viet food and this was grosss!!! No taste to anything! Really? The shrimp salad is bland and contains a lot of purple cabbage..since when did viet salads have a ton of purple cabbage?? The seafood rice clay pot was flavorless and had soggy peas, broccoli, and carrots. The bun no hue was so bland that my friend had to add sriracha to it in order to have some sort of taste to it. Smallest portion of regular sized pho I've ever had EVER with the highest price EVER. They only sell broken rice with their rice plates. The carrot and daikon radish were poor quality. I ate a slice of tomato with the carrot and radish and something tasted rotten, not sure which one was rotten. Pork Chops size was really small compared to other places. I've been here a couple of times, mostly because of the convenience. It's the only decent pho place around the malden area if you don't want to go into Boston/Chinatown. I usually get the pho with rare beef, tripe and tendon. Their soup is flavorful, but not as good as the one in Chinatown. I really dislike how they always overlook the noodles. Their beef pho and rice dishes are pretty tasty and they do good a job with the pho broth. I don't really like the other dishes too much. The decor is super nice and gives off a great vibe. I would give this place a much higher star review but due to the consistently terrible service, I won't be visiting anytime soon. I haven't really gone on a busy night but there's usually no wait to get seated. Water/tea comes somewhat quickly but after this, the waiting game begins. They take a very long time just to give you menus, then take even longer to come back for your order. I've worked in the restaurant industry so I understand the struggle when it's busy. At Pho Bistro, however, they are consistently slow regardless of whether the restaurant is packed or if you're only one of two or three tables. I'm usually pretty patient and I wouldn't mind the constant wait times but the fact that the servers are always so rude, it completely ruins the whole experience for me. You ask for any little thing politely and they always give you an attitude. Like damn, can I get some napkins without my server be visibly annoyed? It's not even busy. This place has re-branded once or twice but the service never changes. It's always been trash It's literally their jobs to serve me, why am I getting attitude for asking for something like extra napkins or water? I'm not expecting to be treated like royalty or anywhere close to that but if I'm giving you a fat tip and have been polite and nice, I don't get why the server can't do the same in return. While I believe customers should never be rude or overbearing to their servers, nothing really holds them back from doing so whereas for servers, their livelihood literally depends on the way they treat their customers. (Luck obviously plays a role as some people are too cheap to tip properly even when they've been served super well) read more

Pho is good. Unfortunately no tofu spring/summer rolls, so visits here will be limited to when I want only a bowl of soup. Would love to see tofu spring rolls added to the menu. read more

It's nice to have Malden have some decent restaurants in the area. I didn't know they took over the Pay Less Shoe Store because the sign was small. The inside is very nice with plenty of room and pretty decor. The vermicelli rolls were good, had a nice crunch and the peanut sauce enhanced the flavor. However I was disappointed with the Seafood vermicelli soup. The "seafood" consisted of a few pieces of fake crab, some calamari, and some fish cake. No shrimp, No clams, No mussels. The broth was flavorfull and not greasy. You are much better off going to All Seasons Table up the street. I've had the same soup from them with fresh seafood. Over all Pho Hoa is ok. It's a good place if you in a rush and don't want to cook. read more

Love this place. It has a great atmoshphere polite waitress, and great decor. Great for lunch with a friend. I always get the seafood soup and it was the "better" of any I've ever had. NOT the best Ive ever had which is at Saigon in East Boston on Meridian St ( if you want the best pho check it out). BUT it was very good considering the rest of the Pho resturants in Malden are just plain GROSS!!! eeeeeehhhhh... embarassing... but thats a whole other story! Anyway, I love this quiet cute resturant and I'm glad it is in the neighbor hood. I always go there when Im in the mood for Pho. I recommend it. This is a regular go to for Pho for me any season.Their broth is great with lots of flavors and their menu offers many combinations of soups. There is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor so there usually isn't a wait in that respect. What a rip off! The appetizer I ordered shrimp tofu are only two very thin slices, which cost $8 bucks! And terrible service as well. I ordered takeout, and I sat next to the door waiting my order. After half hour, nobody gave me my order until I asked the waitress if my order is ready. That my order has been sitting there over ten minutes. Super disappointed, They advertise one price on the menu but when you get the bill the numbers changes, they steal your money by the cents but if you add up, about 10% per order I bet it could add up pretty quickly, (I uploaded a photo of receipt and menu) $2,60 extra on an order that was supposed to be $24,75, cashier said they charge $0,50 per take out order, but still as you can see every item is over charged. Once I realize I explain the waitress that they over charged me she try to explain that it wasn't her fault that the computer give the prices, and I explained to her comparing the prices on the menu and on my bill, after that she said "I can refund your money since you don't want to pay for it" I explained to her that it wasn't for the money but they can't do that its about 10% extra charge, she was being loud and rude, never apologized for over charging me or anything, poor customer service, I told her to keep the money I was in a hurry and she was making me feel that I was the one trying to take advantage, I told her I'd do a review online to tell other people, she said: "good, I don't care", I used to go to this place all the time when was a different name and the customer service and the food was much better, not to mention the smoothie, the Boba balls are so old and hard I couldn't drink. read more

Another gem in Malden Square! If you're looking for Vietnamese food, then this is the place to be. The restaurant is very nice on the inside, despite the unappealing look on the outside of the building. The portions are large and filling which is a very good thing. I like the noodles that come with the soup. This sort of place is sort of out of the ordinary for me, but I find it a very good restaurant. The food comes to your table quickly and the service is very good. All the soups that I have ordered at Pho Hoa have been within reasonable pricing. I haven't found myself complaining that something was too expensive. A plus about this place is that it is located right in Malden Square. There are a lot of things going on on the weekends outside in the square which makes it a cool place to be. So if you're looking for some good food and a night of entertainment, Pho Hoa is pretty cool spot to be. read more

As a picky eater I usually get Pho Tai ( Pho with ribeye steak ), and usually in a large size. I enjoy their pho, but my Mother usually makes better. Had one of the worst bowls of Pho in my life and I've been around. Stomach hurt bad and had to emergency bathroom twice. No good.

I've neglected to write anything bad about this place for years as it was my trump card for pho that doesn't require me to drive 30 mins into Dorchester. However, they've once again disappointed me. I'll start with the pros. This place has the best flavor in their broth in comparison to all the other pho restaurants in the north shore area. The food itself is always a nice blast of flavor. The service itself, the staff for the most part is very friendly and nice. Linh by far, the nicest and is always joking with you. The one and probably the only one that actually annoys me is this male waiter, probably in his mid 20s. I don't even know where to start. He always looks like he doesn't want to be there. He will take your order but the moment you ask for any substitution (ex. No cilantro) he starts looking like he's frustrated at you, and guess what... The food comes out and there's CILANTRO! He is also always rushing you. In a matter of 3-5 mins of the ordering process, he'll ask "that's it?" (With an attitude) there to enjoy my food and I do not want someone that's always grumpy waiting on us. Putting this guy aside, let's talk about the food. I can honestly say that 90% of the time I come here with friends, the food is incorrectly brought out. I'll order a pho with yellow noodle and a friend will order a Bun bo hue with no cilantro, and it'll come out as my pho with no cilantro and a bun bo hue with yellow noodles. I understand when they're busy and I'll forgive them here and there but even once when my brother ordered a bun bo hue and added oxtails (I think it's like $3-5 more). The soup comes out and there one small piece of oxtail in there. The manager then says that there's more inside the bowl, but none found as my brother scooped around in front of him. Today, we ordered a decent size take out order as I have family in town and it would've been more convenient to eat at home instead. I made the order in advance and the waiter said it'll take about 30 mins. Ok great, let me go walk around for a bit then. Got there exactly 30 mins later and it's still not ready, I even said ok, they're a little busy, I'll wait a little more. I placed the order at 2:14pm, I didn't get the food till about 3:20pm. I'm wondering why does it take them so long to put everything together as most of the food have been pre cooked and all they had to do was just pack everything. Got home and not surprising... My brothers bun bo hue has 2 pieces of meat. And we were missing a whole order of spring rolls. My verbally-ready brother called them to complain and yet, not surprisingly, all they did was say sorry sorry and sorry. Guess that's not much they can do, but sometimes it's even more annoying to be hearing sorry so many times when all you hope for is just more consistency from a local joint. Hate to say this but I think I'd rather be driving into town for my pho from now on. read more

A regular spot for our family. Delicious vegetarian pho. Fresh tasting veggies... The rice and veggies cooked in a clay pot is kind of hidden on the menu, but it's our favorite... Favorite appetizers are the shrimp on sugarcane and the tofu veggie roll. Another go-to dish is the stir fried seafood on crispy noodles. Food came out relatively fast but my large bowl came with 4 slices of beef and 4 halved meatballs (which is essentially 2 meatballs). WTF?? it's the absolute smallest portion i've ever had at a viet restaurant. the second time we came here, i asked if they have the Shaken Beef dish again but of course they don't. ordered the Pork Chop on rice which is my other safe dish. that was actually pretty decent. the flavor was good. the pork was tender and the portions were decent this time. we were in late on a snowy day so the floor was slippery as heck. the manager came by and told us to take our time which was much appreciated that he wasn't trying to rush us. overall, seems like a mixed bag. i can't tell what i'm going to get from this place. i will say that it's cleaner than most places in chinatown, maybe because it just opened a few months ago. read more

This is probably the worse vietnamese restaurant in Malden. The service was OK so I gave them 2 stars, but the food was not. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, spicy beef noodle soup, and it was probably one of the worse bun bo hue I've ever had. When they brought it out, the broth was just luke warm. Not even hot. I asked them to reheat it and when they brought it back out, it was just a tad bit warmer. The flavor was bland and did not taste authentic at all. I had to ask for shrimp paste on the side, then add chili oil to make it just OK. My boyfriends pho was OK not the best either. He asked for extra tendon and they literally gave 1 piece, the size of a quarter and charged us extra $2 for extra tendon. Unbelieveable. I gave this place a 2nd try but unfortunately, I dont think I will be back. read more
