I went back recently to try their banh mi. Flavor wise, it was pretty good but they skimp on the meat which was disappointing. Just stuff it up a little ya know? They're already charging a little more than other places for the size of this sandwich ($5.50), the least they could do is add a little bit more meat. Awesome broth! It actually has beef flavor, and you can tell the beef has been simmering in the broth for some time vs. other pho restaurants with completely clear broth and is artificially flavored and MSG laden. Best part is they have pho chay (vegetable pho)! You've the option of a beef or vegetable broth. I got the beef broth. They do not skimp on noodles and toppings. I was home on a week day and decided to go and have lunch someplace with my wife (without kids!). We ended up here. The weather was nice and inside looks like a deli inside a liquor store (which it is) but they have some tables outside so we sat there. For some reason the owner's kid decided to come out and bug us about what games were on our cell phones. Nice kid, but if I wanted to talk to a four year old I would have brought my own. We ordered rice dishes which were ok, nothing special. While we were eating the owner came out and smoked a cigarette upwind from us. Pretty inconsiderate. He also turned on a television (loud) and left. We could have done without that. Sometimes these obscure places turn out to be really good, but this is not one of them. Looks like the interior has been renovated, I liked it! The service is same as before... not superb but decent enough. Took a while for my pho soup to arrive.. actually a group of 4 came in after me and they got their soup first. Mind you I only order 1 soup and appetizer. Back to the quality the beef special pho soup is great!! But I must admit that the amount of meat has decreased considerably within the last 4 years. Sad to say was a fan the first time but would no longer consider. Just ordered Iced Coffee with Tapioca today 7-11-14 about 7:05-7:10pm and very unhappy. Coffee was very strong, tapioca was mushy and less than an hour an upset stomach. Did not expect to be in an episode of "Games of Thrones"!!! Hope the owner reads this and review sanitary measures as well as food handling guidelines by MOCO. Bottom-line, this could lead massive exodus of customers and possible law suits. I luv the food here. The preparation of the food is well done. The cilantro, onions, meat cuts, noodles are diligently prepare. You can tell if you been to many other places. With all of the wonderful reviews, I really expected better. I ordered the summer rolls and Pho Ga (even though it wasn't on the menu). The summer rolls were bland and warm (yuk). The Pho Ga was served in beef broth which is always a turn off for me and the service was very slow. Only one bathroom and it was so dirty. My boyfriend and I love Pho Chi!!! Its a diamond in a rough literally. When you first walk in its not what you expect (also a beer & wine store) but the food is amazing. Service is on the slower side, but you won't be disappointed in the food. We tried their pho, bun bo hue (not on the menu but you can order it), rice dishes, rolls, and everything is tasty. She gave me my drink and directly looked at me and said this is the drink with no milk. After we left the joint I threw up the entire smoothie due to my lactose intolerance. What if I had been deathly allergic to milk they could've put my life at risk just to sell one drink. I will never be returning to this place and I do not appreciate the dishonesty. Upon walking into this place, I just knew it was going to be good. It is just like the other reviewer said, literally a beer and wine store but it has some tables over to the side. The service was decent enough but certainly nothing special, the menus were just computer printed paper put in a binder, but who cares? When the food came out, it just wowed me completely. The summer rolls were the largest I have ever had, and they had tons of shrimp in them. Very generously portioned. The pho was in a huge bowl too, and the meat was actually served raw on the top of the dish and the customer can stir it in. The broth was the richest most wonderful I have ever tasted. Wasn't as salty as some I have had, but the fresh herbs and spices were amped up to more than compensate for the less sodium. It was sooooooo good. read more

This place makes a very delicious pho at a very reasonable price. I have tried several in the area and this has been the best. The older workers are very nice and polite. There are two young boys that also work there that could use a little customer service training. My last order i had called in to pick up. I made sure to get there 10 min after the pick up time so i wouldnt have to wait. I told the oldest of the boys my order and he went back to the kitchen for a little while. He came back empty handed and didnt say anything about my food. Im literally standing at the counter looking at him. I decide to ask "well is it ready? It should have been 15 min ago" come to find out it was sitting next to the register the whole time smh. That is one of a few unsatisfactory encounters with the young boys. I had went here for the very first time experiencing pho a while back. Well about 9 months ago. I'm probably gonna go back soon. I had went with a few buddies of mine and the waitress seated us at a table. I had an amazing experience trying pho for the first time. I ordered the beef special with a bubble tea. It was delicious. Many people enjoy using the condiments but I just eat it how it is. Maybe one day I'll try the spicy sauce and give the beef special a lil kick. Alright heres where I tell you a bit about the staff and restaurant. The staff are friendly. They give very good suggestions on what you may want to eat. When I was there I didn't know anything about pho so I asked the waitress what was her favorite and most popular at the time. She answered with the beef special, so as I did I took her word for it. The service here is by far the worst. Literally everyone in the restaurant got served before I got my fried rice and I came in before most of the customers. Water was never refilled and stayed empty the entire stay. It's a shame that the service sucks because the food here is actually really good. The pho and fried rice is delicious and the appetizers like the summer rolls are really good. They do skimp out on the bean sprouts and lime and the only pho restaurant that I know that charges you extra if you ask for more. Even though the food is great, many pho restaurant around Gaithersburg and shady groove are much better in terms of food and service. My second favorite Pho place in Gaithersburg. Plus they stay open til after midnight for that late night Pho hankering. Pho is good, not great, and I would have it again. This place has the best pho ever! I will admit, when I first drove up, I was a bit hesitant because it is part of a beer/wine shop. But the service is great and the food is amazing! It does take awhile to get your food but my goodness it is worth the wait. Their broth is delicious. I don't know what they do to it but it is the best soup I have ever tasted. I crave their soup. I came here with my ex about 6 months ago for a late night dinner. The place is the epitome of a hole in the wall, even by typical Vietnamese restaurant standards. Doesn't make it any more scarier. In fact, I was actually even MORE excited that the food would be even tastier given the usual inverse relationship of restaurant environment and the quality of food. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet, and I was surprised at how little meat I was given. I'm used to large portions of meat atop my pho, especially given that I ordered the special version. It's ok with me because I usually like a large noodle:meat ratio whenever I take each bite. But I do enjoy eating the often large volume of remaining meat after I finish my noodles. Whelp, that didn't happen. The broth was also pretty bland and not as full of flavor was other people suggested. Maybe it was a bad batch, I don't know. But I was left unsatisfied and unhappy. If this was the only Vietnamese place within a 5-hour radius, I would consider coming back here. But I would much rather drive an extra hour to Falls Church where there is authentic pho that I can eat. read more

Besides having the best pho I have found in the area, they also serve a lot of delicious Saigon street food style dishes. The Banh Mi sandwiches are also top top. They are hidden behind a gas station, in a half-restaurant, half-liquore store, and they are open really late. There's not much good food to be found at 11pm in Gaithersburg, so this is a real find. read more
